episode 3: BOOM
youtube
actual episode subverts to Enes Yilmazer's channel. an explosion is of a use to heart when you exchange a home, that is not even a Doctor Who episode anymore when it doesn't want to challenge you with anything but relax.
not threatening, like what do you expect an all-encompassing time traveller to step on a landmine to expect the unexpected and make the companion question her living shit about her reality right now because a regular time traveller is actually living in a paradox of self-humility and self preservation, like the man killed demons and she thinks he might be... a little too much for her type. so why, on Earth is she... challenging him... when the only option was to f**king tell him 'why is there everything against us no matter where we go, it's because i wanted to see the Beatles or travel to where Michaelangelo was painting the Sistine Chapel. BUT THERES F**KING DEMONS, TAKE ME HOME' she would have questioned the living shit out of the warzone which is not probable for the human mind to value trauma or anything else, it's because River Song is programming reality as we speak and naturally she DREAMS inside of a living home in the form of Disneyland and it is that to her, her home is in Dubai but currently she works offshores somewhere in the UK to sustain moral rights for her 11th Doctor husband filming the last scene for his daughter Clara, because River is a full time working Mum.
that is literally the entire synopsis of the 15th Doctor and he's giving you a tour of his home and each one of them as he would say 'walks through the door' changes costume and appearance educates you on what it is like to design a home from your heart from just living, just DIY documentari-. no, just River Song owning your rights to live Copyrights confidentials privatised healthcare and erratic systems into why she's bought so many books on laws at last made Matthew Murdock glance at her in surprise to issue second amendment rights in constitutional government rights to value principles on stupidity brought to you by South Park.
meet Martin Heidegger and Jacques Derrida like you've never met them

Slashers W/ a Punk S/O
T/W- q*eer is used a few times- in a positive, self affirming kind of way. But I can add other trigger warnings if needed. :)
A/n- Literally no one asked for this, but I wanted to make more HCs like the soft pastel one...so I just went wild and made them.
I included a little bit of punk culture into this as well, because it’s not just about the fashion, but since there’s such a vast variety within punk culture I mostly stuck with my experiences in the community, and some bits and pieces from documentaries(mostly live footage from “The Decline of Western Civilization”).
Characters: Billy/Stu, The Lost Boys, Norman Bates, Michael Myers
Will make one(s) for Brahms, Amanda, Helen or Daniel if asked
Billy Loomis + Stu Macher
so early 90s, the Riot Grrrl movement emerges
bands like Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, Heavens to Betsy or Sleater-Kinney
it’s a very female-powered oriented movement, but I notice that a lot of minorities tend to be drawn to this music and community (LGBT folks, people of color, etc).
both boys, and yourself, being outside of the norm and all (polyamorous relationship, gay/bi) are sort of drawn to it!
and sure there’s a lot of really great queercore/homocore bands, and there’s probably a good LGBT+ punk scene out there somewhere, but in a little town like Woodsboro? Hell no. Sticking with this fem punk movement, while again mostly a space for women in music- it’s the most accepted the three of you have felt outside of you’re relationship.
you’ve always been pretty into the music, stuff like Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, or the short-lived Germs- but it wasn’t until you stumbled upon Riot Grrrl that you really got into it.
the music, making zines about local-ish political issues(probably not so much Woodsboro stuff, more Cali in general and neighboring towns) and a few ones with queer themes and hand-drawn illustrations of your partners, and DIYing all your clothes
since you’re so experienced with DIYing your clothes and sewing on patches, you’ve helped repair the Ghostface costumes on numerous occasions. they kind of adore this(Stu is the only one that will- and does, frequently- admit that)
Let’s face it, the three of you do everything together- but you especially enjoy when Stu tags along for thrift dates.
he’s the more fashionable one, and he makes the whole experience more enjoyable- cracking jokes and just being his all-around goofy self.
Woodsboro is a very little town, so they don’t have much...but they do have a few small stores- usually you’ll make a whole day/date out of it though. driving to the next town or so over, since they have more stores and a better selection, and spending hours looking for cheap, old t-shirts, belts, clothes with funky patterns. heading out for pizza after.
Billy’s more likely to get into the music and everything with you(he’s kinda,, angsty, no offense to him)- will definitely go to shows with you.
just- imagine Billy in ripped jeans. and he’d have like one or two patches sewn on to it- one of them is your all time favorite band, and the other is a band that he found on his own time, and actually really enjoyed.
Stu is dragged along with you guys, you can’t just leave him at home- he’s gonna feel left out and sad. :(
He’s mostly there to keep y’all company- he really likes the energy of the shows though!
the two of them are such a chaotic duo though, so much so that you have definitely been kicked out or banned from a few venues. all for varying reasons. good grief these men can not be tamed.
The Lost Boys
as we all know, these vampires are total punks. so they’re gonna appreciate having a s/o who’s also into that whole scene.
How you meet:
you’re a baby punk, and it’s your first show ever, and you look so nervous. you’re dressed up in pretty plain clothes, a single homemade patch for your favorite band barely hanging to your jacket side(you were mid-way sewing it, when you realized you were gonna be late if you didn’t leave asap).
it’s a few local bands, ones you’d never really heard of really. you look anxious. but when they start playing? you look so unapologetically yourself, you’re so in the moment dancing- it’s completely mesmerizing to the boys. the music isn’t even that good, but you seem to be having the time of your life.
they greet you after the show, and you’re a tiny bit flustered- cause gosh, heck, they saw you. dancing. so embarrassing.
David is the one that introduces himself and the group, and initiates conversation. Dwayne’s a pretty quiet guy, so he just listens to what you have to say.
Marko’s pretty excited about you, and initiates in some small conversation, he may have complimented your little patch(Marko- patch jacket KING, complimenting your jacket?? more likely than you’d think)
and oh, oh- Paul is out there being a total chatty-cathy, and is absolutely bombarding you with questions. like, okay, Paul is pretty talkative, but the other vamps are a little worried that he’s scared you off. and you had seemed so cool :(
you end up pretty engaged in your convo with Paul though, even if all the attention is overwhelming. He ends up snagging a date for the five of you the following week.
once you start hanging out/dating:
y’all just hit it off so well those first few days. they all love how sweet & shy you are- but also how much of a badass punk babe you are.
Marko helps make your patch jacket(collecting ones for bands you enjoy, how to make your own, sewing them on, etc). you probably could have done it w/out his help, but my gosh- you weren’t going to pass up this opportunity. Marko gets really soft around you sometimes, since he doesn’t really do this activity with anyone else, it’s saved for you. 🥺🥺
Dwayne likes listening to you talking about the local scene(outside of the shows you go to- mostly about stuff he can’t attend, protests and meetings during the daylight.)
all of them(especially David) are very protective of you. I mean, generally. but also when you go to shows. they let you do whatever the heck you’re gonna do, but the mere second that someone even thinks about starting shit w/ you?? well, y’know. those vampire instincts kick in.
the four of them obviously share a lot of similar tastes in music- but they all have different favorite bands, & fave parts of the community. which, they can’t even fully participate in,, but it’s okay.
they, individually, introduce their favorite bands to you. and they get it in their head that oh, they said they liked it. they must like it as much as I do. and awkwardly coming out to the four of them, as they argue about your favorite band, “Well, actually- this *insert band they’ve never heard of or barely listen to* is my favorite.” and their just kinda like, oh, okay. please tell us more about them.
so it’s sorta like,, you’ve been learning all this cool knowledge from them, now you get to share cool knowledge with them.
idk. I think it’s cute. 💕
Norman Bates
so first off- let’s just pretend Psycho was in at least the 70s/80s for a moment. because realistically- the punk subculture didn’t really exist back then.
baby boy is absolutely fascinated by the way you dress (mother is less thrilled though)
imagine your jacket is getting a bit weathered, and needs some repairs- so he helps you to sew edges closed, and make sure the patches aren’t on too loose, etc
he enjoys hearing your stories of all the past shows you’ve gone to. you always get so excited about them, and he finds that so endearing. But he pretty much leaves the actual punk scene to you because of these stories.
he was already worried from the stories, and made sure you were well prepared for any trouble every time you left for a show.
but one time, you were able to get him to join you. never again though. he was so nervous!
the music was too loud! and he could hardly understand what they were saying- it was so confusing!
you stayed with him most of the night, standing near the back, holding his hand. he’d gently bob his head to the music occasionally.
but you accidentally found yourself swept into the crowd, but you looked so blissed-out in the moment, that he figured it would be okay for you to dance* over there for a little bit...right?
*Norman is still unsure if you’d even call that dancing.
Thankfully, nothing bad happened in the mosh pit.
you gotta give him lots of attention and reassurance afterwards though- you almost scared Norman half to death D:
He’s happy enough helping you out and listening to you though- and that’s okay for you, too. you still love each other lots, even if this particular interest doesn’t overlap.
Michael Myers
he thinks you’re outfits are pretty interesting.
he’s a little worried at first, when you start experimenting with putting things like safety pins in your ears. cause like- that’s not supposed to be in your ear, Y/n, what the fuck
if you make zines at all, Michael really enjoys watching you make the illustrations for them(not that he’ll admit to it though), and helps to find newspaper and magazine clippings to incorporate into the spreads.
you always show michael the final booklet before distributing it
he doesn’t talk a lot, so he doesn’t ask questions- but he often does the little head tilt once you give it to him. since he’s not very privy to current events, and a lot of your zines are political, you spend a lot of time explaining them in depth.
he has no use for any of this knowledge, but he listens on, intently.
Important note:
dear god do not bring this man to concerts and local shows with you.
it is a nightmare, to say the least
Michael is sort of,, emotionless sometimes, doesn’t really care for people at all, and if he does? definitely not in the same way most people do.
so imagine combining that part of michael, the fact that he’s also a giant stabby man, with super loud, energetic- almost aggressive- sounding music and a bunch of strangers that aren’t respecting any personal boundaries.
you need to keep him at the back of the venue- lest your local scene may go missing.

forever stuck in our youth
word count: 1.2k
summary: carlos is feeling a little bummed out the week before halloween and julie is determined to change that.
October 24, 2020
Halloween was about a week away and usually, Carlos would be buzzing with excitement. But instead, Julie hadn’t heard anything from him about it and decided to confront him.
“Don’t tell me you’re not dressing up for Halloween,” Julie questioned, approaching the boy sitting at the dinner table.
“I don’t dress up anymore. That’s for kids.” Carlos looked up from his tablet, seeming to deflate, slipping farther down into his seat.
Julie gave him a quizzical look, sputtering out noises of disbelief. He always loved dressing up, so why the sudden change? Maybe something happened at school, if his friends didn’t want to go with him then he’d just have to join her group.
“The boys, Flynn, and I are all dressing up if that makes you feel better. Halloween is fun for everyone, it doesn’t matter how old you are, you can dress up if you want.” She saw the slight hint of a smile gracing his face, of course mentioning the boys would make perk up. Carlos and Reggie had a special bond, but all three of them held special places in Carlos’ heart. They brought back the light in Julie’s eyes and the spark in her heart, of course he would love them for it.
Luke, Reggie, and Alex already knew what they were going as; sheet ghosts, for obvious reasons. They matched well with Carlos’s ghostbuster costume too, so that was a plus. Julie and Flynn decided against going as ghosts, opting for witches instead, just so they could look cute.
They had spent a portion of the next few days getting everything ready. The boys’ costumes didn’t take that much effort, just some sheets with dark spots for the eyes, and Reggie added a black cowboy hat to his. Carlos’s costume was a bit more complex, him opting to DIY with the help of Ray instead of just buying everything. Flynn and Julie’s costumes were something they had a lot of fun putting together; they planned cute makeup looks and got some accessories from their local Spirit Halloween.
October 28, 2020
“If you guys don’t carve pumpkins with me, the band is breaking up.” The group wanted to get Carlos back into the Halloween spirit, so they planned on doing as many fun activities as they could fit into the week.
“Flynn- I mean, we’ll do it, obviously, but- I don’t think you have that much control over the band?” By the straight look on her face, he didn’t think she was joking around. The others tried to cover their laughs, trying not to make Reggie feel bad.
One day, after band practice, the six of them had decided to convince Ray to go to the pumpkin patch. They had each picked out the perfect looking pumpkins, as well as a few extra small ones. Reggie suggested they get hot apple cider before going home, it was a favorite of his growing up, and Ray just couldn’t tell the boy no.
“I have an idea!” Carlos exclaimed.
“How about we have a contest? Whoever makes the scariest pumpkin wins,” He continued. The rest of them nodded in agreement, whatever Carlos wanted to do, they would do it.
Soon after they arrived back at Julie’s house, they set up the dining room table. They laid out a plastic tablecloth for easy cleanup, taping down the edges. Spoons and knives were strewn across carelessly, which if Ray were to see, he would have to have a talk with the teens.
By the end of the night, they had all come to a decision. Even though he was the one who suggested the contest in the first place, Carlos won. Maybe the others chose him just to make him feel a bit better, but his pumpkin was also pretty good anyway. They didn’t have a prize, just bragging rights they supposed, but they ended up baking the seeds per Julie’s request.
October 31, 2020
Halloween day had finally arrived and everyone was buzzing with excitement. Alex, Luke, and Reggie were still trying to get caught up with the things they had missed out on over the last 25 years, so the other three decided that tonight would be the perfect time to show them some iconic Halloween Disney movies.
“Do you want tea or hot chocolate?” Julie asked, mostly just to Flynn and Carlos.
“I drank a gallon of cider all by myself. I regret nothing, but I don’t think I can handle drinking anything else,” Flynn replied. It wasn’t unlike her to go a little overboard, considering she’s downed seven sodas consecutively on multiple occasions.
Julie walked back into the studio with two steaming mugs of hot chocolate, one for herself and one for Carlos. They had asked Ray to join them, but he declined saying they should have a night to themselves. The kids had gotten some popcorn ready, tons of blankets and pillows, and all piled on to the couch to start their Halloweentown marathon that afternoon. They were as squished together as they could get, but all content.
About 6 hours later they had gone through all the films and were ready to get the spooky time shenanigans started. The four boys had gotten dressed fairly fast, their costumes weren't complicated so no one was surprised, but they were very impatiently waiting for Julie and Flynn to be ready to go. Once the girls were all dolled up, they grabbed some candy buckets and went on their way down the street to start trick or treating.
A few hours later, the group had hit all the houses giving out king size candy bars near them and they were tired, so they were ready to go back to Julie’s relax again. It seemed Ray had decided to order pizza for dinner that night and everyone was grateful, that was just what they needed. Once everyone was full they decided to get some comfy clothes on and watch one last movie to end the night.
An idea struck Flynn, they should do face masks! Skin care is always a nice activity to do at night, she and Julie needed to do it in the first place, and maybe they could rope the boys into it as well. They protested a bit but ultimately gave in, they painted each other nails as well, which Alex ended up loving the most.
As Ray went into the living room to check on the kids at the end of the night, he stumbled upon them all passed out on the floor. Each one of them had a smile on their face, the movie credits rolling quietly in the background.

19 Home Quarantine Boredom Busters!
Bored? Bored??? Complain about your neighbors, your family, the government, the sky, anything else. But I never wanna hear or see anyone complain about boredom. Sorry not sorry. There's so many masterposts of things to do and free online resources. Here are just some of my dork ass ideas:
1) Free (yes FREE) online college courses from, you know, Yale, Harvard, MIT, etc:
https://www.coursera.org/
https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/find-by-topic/#cat=engineering&subcat=nuclearengineering&spec=nuclearsystemspolicyandeconomics
https://www.edx.org/school/harvardx
https://www.freecodecamp.org/news/ivy-league-free-online-courses-a0d7ae675869/?fbclid=IwAR1a9qAE6IcqmcQpPaTmXH6q63QBCA95rntnZPY0ah_U80d8u0wa9wAIYhc
What, like it's hard?
2) "Tattoo" practice - This is a personal idea of mine. Basically, you just take some non-toxic markers to draw on yourself or whoever youre in home quarantine with that wants a fake tattoo. This isn't the best time to be getting real tattoos but you can have fun seeing what youd look like with a one. If you dont really draw, you can print designs to cut into stencils.
3) Bento "stories" - I got this idea from the mom that went viral for the creative bentos she makes for her kids. I think, for even just one meal a day, it would be cute to tell a story with each bento. So if you're living with someone, they need to wait til the next day to find out what happens next! If you live alone, make them for yourself and post your bento story online.
https://www.boredpanda.com/creative-bento-food-art-samantha-lee/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=organic
4) Karaoke - By yourself or with others, doesn't matter, make it a party! Just search for your karaoke sobgs on Youtube. And anything is a microphone: hairbrush, remote, piece of fried chicken.... Good for you if you have one of those bluetooth mics tho.
5) Professor Day - Okay this one is really nerdy but it's more fun than it sounds. Pick a random topic, anything at all, and prepare a "lesson" or presentation on it. It could be one of your interests, an intro to a new language, or something you always wanted to learn. You can keep it to yourself, share the file online, or better: Dress the part and call your home quarantine buddies in for "class." If you live alone, teaching a class of inanimate objects would make for a silly yet informative video on your topic. Hey maybe this can catch on! Everyone can be an expert of something they're passionate about and should share their unique take on it, who knows who will be into it.
6) Miss Going Outside? Bring the experiences indoors! Like the family that made a home grocery for their grandma, you can make part of your home into something you miss from the outside world. Museum? Plenty offer free virtual tours. Cinema? If you don't have a big TV, you can make a projector for your phone with a shoebox. Camping? Hello, pillow fort and blanket tent. Roast marshmallows on the stove. Play relaxing nature sounds on your speaker. (Try the free app Relax Melodies, I love the mixing feature) Get creative with your space and what you have to make something you want. When you're really bored and missing the outdoors, Youtube or Google Streetview somewhere you wish you could go.

https://newsvideo.su/video/12560164
https://www.instructables.com/id/Build-A-Smartphone-Projector/
7) Room Makeover - No better time to do it! It's good exercise and it's a creative experience.
8) New Hair Dont Care - This is the best time to try an outrageous haircut or color since you're stuck at home. If it doesn't turn out ideal, no one has to know. If you love it, great! You can try any look you normally wouldn't wear outside or at work.
9) Safe Science Experiments - emphasis on the word SAFE. Safety first, always. There's plenty of free resources online for instructions, esp on YouTube.
10) Consume All The Free Movies, Shows, Music, Books, Audio Books and even Comics Online... it's endless! So much free... And now not so little time. You won't run out of things to watch, read, or listen to.

http://www.loyalbooks.com/genre/Non-fiction
https://www.digitalbook.io/search-audiobooks-ebooks.html#!///history
https://documentaryaddict.com/
11) Make a Short Film - Get creative or just be silly! Try stop motion with old toys, get yourself or someone you're home with into acting, or make your pet a star.
12) Tea Party - Be a kid again and dress up for tea... but put whatever twist you want on it! Wear an old Halloween costume or something! If you live alone, video call your friends or family to join you for tea.
13) Spa Day - All the pampering you didn't have time for when work/school wasn't from home? You have time now. DIY facial. Bubble bath. Nail art. Really soak in every little act of self love.
14) Practice drag makeup, styling, and performance for fun. Your gender or sexual preference doesn't even matter here. Its all good fun! Be a drag queen or king for a day. Lip sync for your life by yourself or make it a drag race with your home quarantine mates.
15) Mystery Day - Create a fake crime scene and have your friends/family solve it! Doesn't have to be a big mess and you don't have to make it so complicated for yourself or your home quarantine fam. You could also just write a simple mystery/riddle online for friends to solve if you live alone. You can even assign roles like accomplice, police, detective, etc. Work your brain, the goal is to kill boredom right?
16) Scrapbook - or Burn Book, Spell Book, pop-up book, revolutionary manifesto, whatever. Use anything you have as a base even if it has writing: an old phone book, something missing pages, a faded magazine, whatever. Then stick any pics, stickers, printouts, tags, wrappers, etc you want. What kind of book will it be?
17) Art Therapy - Even if you dont consider it something you're "good" at, use art to express yourself. It doesn't just have to be drawing, painting, or sculpting... You can pick up a forgotten musical instrument you may have lying around and just keep trying. Youtube is life. Countless tutorials for everything.
18) Crafts Crafts Crafts - Theres so many simple crafts to try at home. 5 Minute Crafts on Youtube and various other channels offer some great yet easy ideas. Try going about it in this order:
a) Look around your house for stuff you don't need. Set aside for craft pile or donate pile.
b) Look around again for any ways you can improve you home. You need mor storage? Is your shoe rack broken? Are you always missing something? Then search online for crafts specific to that.
c) Set up a neat work space with your craft pile and some tools you can use. Note: Never use kitchen items for crafts if you still intend to use them on food. You may be able to wash them but you can't undo any damage from crafting trial and error.
https://youtu.be/AROj7nkH2LQ
19) If you have any skill that can possibly help frontliners during this crisis, do see what you can do without risking your own health. If you can sew, donate masks or even PPE suits as there are guides online for the right patterns and materials. Even just a few pieces are helpful. If you sing, sing for our frontliners. If you write, write about them. Do your research about the situation in your town. Health workers, sanitation workers, grocery staff, and other essential workers are all putting their lives on the line. All we have to do is stay home but we can make the most of it.

Note
of the egos that showed up in "Markiplier tv"... GIVE ME ALL THE HEADCANONS!! ALL OF THEM!! plz :3
(ALL headcanons is alone so…. Here’s 5 for each ego! )
Darkiplier:
He’s not one solid Ego, He’s two.
Despite how highly he thinks of himself he has trouble grasping simple things like cooking and sleeping
He’s better and playing Markiplier then Mark is (I wonder Why?)
He’s actually a rather touchy person but refrains from it by fidgeting with his suit Jacket
Though he sounds really calm and smooth his voice can actually get really high pitched when he’s actually angry. (Good thing his Void doesn’t have a volume setting so you can hear him scream!)
Wilford:
Dude claims to mean well but Is really in it for himself
Is outside the constructs of reality but likes to pretend not to be (Think how Marie Antoinette had a private acre set aside so she could pretend she was a pesent)
Has been known to abuse his powers as the Markiplier channel representative
Thinks seeing others in pain is funny but hates when they die on him. (To this day no one is really sure if it’s cause he actually doesn’t understand death, if he actually feels bad they died or, just wanted to play with them more)
Has the biggest ego of them all
Google:
Is always hot
Been known to experiment on other egos
Has been known to stare off into space for hours on end and if you look in their eyes at that time you see cat videos playing…
Don’t put things near them, they will copy the cats and push it off the table while staring you down.
Has dirt on every ego in the building, half from the experiments half from knowing everyone’s Browser history
Ed:
Actually really likes babies… Even if he thinks they are more like puppies then people… like they don’t talk they are very clearly not human
Has some crazy conspiracy theories going on in that head of his
Like’s gambling, bets and, dares
Has good business knowledge
DIY God!
Silver:
Can’t be trusted with secrets
I costume Silver is really sweet and a bit of a cry baby. Out of costume Silver is a cocky and willing to steal and lie to get what he wants
Silver has been known to meddle with Time so his ice cream won’t melt
Silver doesn’t want to become his future self so is trying to get into show Biz
Most likely to take in a stray animal
Doc:
Is actually a nurse not a doctor
Likes blood and gore but won’t tell anyone that
We all know Nurses are the ones who really do everything in a hospital, Doctors are like male lions they only come in for the kill
Will find a way to tell you everything bad that happened that day ( Hi lovely day Right? You left an open chocolate bar in that Jacket you left in the car!’ )
Don’t get him mad Google isn’t the only one who likes to experiment.
The Host:
Hated Doc when they first met because ‘Yes Doc I DO know Wilford ate one of my books today that’s for bringing it up’
He’d never admit it but him and the Author have a ship list of egos they ship and they place bets over if they will ever happen or not
Can see visions of futures that could happen when sleeping, but when awake only has the ability to see a small bit into the set future
Though he knows his surroundings rather well he does often rely on the Author to guide him around.
Though he seems calmer he actually gets really snappy at people that think they can push him around.
Bim:
Doesn’t actually remember half of the information about himself since he almost faded away
Carries around a pocket mirror
Has like seven crushes but no one actually realizes he really likes them because he flirts with them all so they just think it’s a Bim thing to flirt and he doesn’t mean it.
Is a sucker for musicals
Hates eating things off the bone. (thus why most don’t realize the meat he eats is human)
KoS:
After Markiplier TV came out the King of Squirrels actually became a real ego instead of just Mark in disguise
He’s very small and actually lives with Mark so Mark can still pose as him
He likes to ride Chica as if they are a war steed
Can’t actually talk but is really good at writing and drawing
The first time he appeared he launched a full scale attack of Mark in his home… He was still finding lost squirrels nesting in his sock drawer a week later….
Bop:
Loves singing but often so focused on the tune of the song he forgets his own pitch
Real powers come from more of a supersonic screech he’s been known to give off
Knowns useless trivia
He is the god of shower singing, but only shower singing, if he has to think about it then nope not as good
Once punched Wilford in the face as a dare
Jim News:
Gets motion sick often
Known to change topics quickly (Generally right after saying something really bad)
Sticks close to Weather cause they’re besties but also uses him as a scapegoat for everything (He’s what you call the bad twin)
Terrible at talking to people
Anger he feels often gets transferred to other people often less than stable people, thus accidentally creating bad news to report
Jim Weather:
Needs glasses but won’t wear them cause News wears them
Actually woke up the whole building once cause he scratched his eye trying to put in contacts

REVIEW: FAN EXPO VANCOUVER AT THE VANCOUVER CONVENTION CENTRE - MARCH 2ND TO 3RD, 2019
Tumblr media
The first panel on Saturday was Mehcad Brooks, currently known for his work as James Olsen/Guardian in CW’s Supergirl. He had an inspiring panel, touching on race and gender, social media ‘keyboard warriors’ who attempt to put others down, music (his stage name is King Gvpsv), and doing things one is passionate about. He discussed how DC Comics’ Jimmy Olsen was historically Caucasian, and how proud he was to be apart of creating diversity, portraying a black male version on the show. In fact, one superhero he would love to play is Bruce Wayne/Batman. That being said, he noted the importance of “creating your own superheroes” if you’re passionate about creativity, whether that be starting from the drawing board or adding attributes to those already brought to life – Mehcad is currently developing a superhero of his own, with a graphic novel to stay tuned for.
Tumblr media
The one statement he said that stuck with me was, “perfectionism is the highest form of procrastination.” As an artist, it’s the best excuse not to do anything, and he uses that to fuel his spiritual journey as a creator and human being. I was really impressed with his connection to the audience in his words, and look forward to seeing his projects as they continue to unfold.
I caught a brief portion of George Takei’s self-moderated panel, hearing him take the stage with an emphatic “Oh Myyy” (to the delight of audience members)! He recognized the original Star Trek fans, and the new generation that keeps the franchise alive and thriving, noting the success of CBS’ Star Trek: Discovery. He recognized the importance of keeping ideals in mind (“in an insane reality” as the current situation in the US). A fan asked his opinion if achieving a utopia in the real world was a possibility, to which Takei replied no, but it is “still a dream that we should aspire to reach.” Takei is currently in Vancouver filming AMC’s The Terror, set in a Japanese internment camp during WWII.
Tumblr media
The Flash panel was wild, this cast knows how to have fun. Featuring Tom Cavanagh, Robbie Amell, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Nicolet and Hartley Sawyer, the panel had mini donuts a plenty (they asked, and devoted fans delivered, not once but multiple times throughout their time on stage)! They talked briefly about the upcoming episode set to feature King Shark vs. Gorilla Grodd, and the large budget they had for its special effects. Danielle addressed the absence of Joe West this season (cast member Jesse L. Martin took a medical leave after suffering a back injury this past summer), but said he would be back on-screen soon. Amell, who no longer appears as Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm, is currently working on Amazon’s Upload, with sci-fi/action film Code 8 having premieres across the globe beginning in April. Cavanagh joked about Amell moving on from The Flash to “more expensive projects” and “greener pastures,” and this continued to be a running joke throughout the panel. New additions Nicolet and Sawyer were praised, for their work ethic and what they brought to their characters DA Cecile Horton and Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man.
Tumblr media
During fan question period, Amell was asked about the crowdfunded Code 8 and working with cousin and Arrow star Stephen Amell (who he insisted was pronounced “steph-in” rather than “steve-in”). The pair always hoped to collaborate after having brief interactions in a past Arrowverse crossover, and were happy to do so with the sci-fi flick filmed in Toronto in 2017. There were also plugs for the Tom Cavanagh directed heist short Tom and Grant, which is now available for streaming on Vimeo. One of Cavanagh’s favourite and most challenging scenes, was when Reverse Flash killed Cisco Ramon (Valdes’ character) in Season 1’s “Out of Time.” One daring fan asked Valdes if there was truth to the rumours he’d be leaving the show after Season 5. He stayed mum, answering with an appropriate “I have a donut in my mouth.” It was a nice attempt. Nicolet and Valdes only had kind words to say about co-star Danielle Panabaker’s directing debut in episode 18, shot in February, describing her as a “boss lady” and “in control.” It was a fun panel, and you can see the family atmosphere created on-set translates similarly to their interactions with one another off-set.
Tumblr media
During breaks in between panels, I had an opportunity to roam around the floor, to get a glimpse of the vast number of retailers, artists, and cosplayers on-hand for the event. I purchased a few postcards from illustrators Jenny Hsieh and chanteii – they have incredibly adorable artwork of shiba inus and cats, respectively. I also had to buy a couple of stickers from PIKARAR, because of my love for animals, naturally. There were booths with Funko pops, wigs, pins, medieval swords and armour, unique jewelry, kimonos, tees, fan art, boxes chalk full of comic books, and other pop culture memorabilia. It was overwhelming (in a good way)!
Tumblr media
We stopped by the booth advertising locally filmed web series Followers: “An Internet Superhero Story.” The plot line is “a group of superheroes inspired by social media must collaborate together to take down Hater, who threatens to destroy the internet.” The trailer looked amusing with their special effects and action sequences, DIY costumes, and I look forward to checking out more of the episodes online!
youtube
On the cosplay side, I’m not too knowledgeable on anime/pop culture characters (I’ll be the first to admit this!) but there were many amazing costumes. I saw a Spider-Gwen posing for pictures with young girls, Iron Man, Deadpool, Harley Quinn, Disney princesses, and characters I was told were from popular video games League of Legends and Overwatch.
Tumblr media
On Sunday, I sat in on some of Pamela Anderson’s panel. Anderson is known for her modelling and acting work in Baywatch and Home Improvement, but currently uses her platform to do activist work for animal rights, our environment, and climate change. I heard her response to a fan’s question: “everything you do has a repercussion” and the importance of enjoying experiences over consumption. The Pamela Anderson Foundation supports “organizations and individuals that stand on the front lines in the protection of human, animal, and environmental rights.” It is nice to see Anderson (who was born in Ladysmith, BC) be passionate about these global issues, and encouraging listeners to do the same in their everyday life.
Tumblr media
My final full panel of the day was the Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow talk with Juliana Harkavy, Brandon Routh, and Courtney Ford. This was largely a fan Q&A panel, with one fan dressed as Roy Harper/Arsenal informing the cast how their characters have provided happiness and strength in darker personal times. It was a touching moment, and you could see the actors’ expressions shift, truly listening to each of the fan questions with understanding and empathy. Harkavy said her favourite part about playing Black Canary was meeting fans, while Routh expressed some disappointment in the Legends being left out of this past season’s ‘Elseworlds’ crossover event, but hoped they might make an appearance in the already announced ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths.’
Tumblr media
They admitted that they don’t socially interact much with cast members of their fellow CW shows other than at conventions and dinners to celebrate season kickoffs (on-location filming, studios not being on the same lot), but it’s always fun when they do meet-up to catch up. Routh said that while he loves playing Ray Palmer/Atom on LOT, his role as Superman in Bryan Singer’s 2006 film Superman Returns is his favourite role to-date because of its significance in his career (as his first leading role). All three prepared for their current roles using comic books as guidance, imagery and past iterations of their characters.
We had a wonderful time at FAN EXPO Vancouver, being surrounded by like minded others with an excitement and passion for the arts, cosplay, comics, film and television. Our team also had an opportunity to interview Gotham’s David Mazouz, a stellar actor who shone as a young Bruce Wayne and who’s using his platform to shed light on animal rescue and advocacy, and creating positive change as young adults. The interview will be posted soon! Until then, we can’t wait until FAN EXPO’s return to our city next year.

DIY Harry Potter Wands for #20YearsofMagic
#20YearsofMagic #20YearsofMagic #20YearsofMagic #20YearsofMagic #20YearsofMagic #20YearsofMagic #20YearsofMagic
One of my favorite benefits of working at an arts & crafts company is that I never know when a major craft session will break out. A few weeks ago, through the initiative of one of my communications department coworkers, a small group of us began participating in a lunch break “Twisted Crafts” series.
Last Friday, we crafted what I’ve always dreamed I might own–authentic Harry Potter Wands! I could NOT be more excited about how mine turned out. I am, to say the least, utterly obsessed, and very excited to use my wands to celebrate #20YearsofMagic.
What is #20YearsofMagic, you ask? Well, on June 26 2017, it will be the 20th anniversary of the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Crazy, right? Well, don’t worry–this Harry Potter Wand craft is inexpensive, and quick, so you have plenty of time to craft one before the big day!
But, before we begin. A brief ode to #20YearsofMagic
Like many in my generation, I have been a bit of a Harry Potter nut since I was a child. I still remember  (in 1998, a year after the release) getting my first copy of Harry Potter in the Sorcerer’s Stone from my next door neighbor. I grew up with Harry and Hogwarts through the Harry Potter books, and aged alongside Emma Watson, Danielle Radcliff, Rupert Grint, et al. as they filmed the amazing Harry Potter movies. In high school, my other Harry Potter fanatic friend, Remy, and I hosted a two person “Harry Potter Hufflepuff House” party. Later we hosted bigger Harry Potter movie premiere parties, complete with “Butterbeer,” Chocolate Frogs, Chocolate wands, and lots and lots of costumes!
I went to Harry Potter world the year it opened, have read the original series countless times, and for the past few Christmases have purchased the new beautifully illustrated Harry Potter books (so far, The Sorcerer’s Stone and The Chamber of Secrets) for two sets of young cousins. And myself of course! I’ve also got the new illustrated “Prisoner of Azakaban” (my favorite in the series!) on Amazon Pre-order. October 3rd could not come fast enough! My bookshelf contains the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Screenplay, The Cursed Child script, and even a Harry Potter adult coloring book.
I know, I know. You’re not here to hear me go on an on about Harry Potter treasure. You’re here for the wand making! Fine. Without further ado…
The making of the wands
My three coworkers and I made two wands each, and they all were so unique! As the saying goes, “The wand chooses the wizard.” Even if we WANTED to have control over what our wands ended up looking like, we really couldn’t. Every step about making our wands was trial-and-error, adding and subtracting, and “just going with it.” There was no way to mess up! I loved it.
Another thing I loved? Playing with texture. Though the minimum you need for this craft are thin wooden dowels or chopsticks, hot glue, and paint, you can add so much more to your wants by getting a little creative! The following are the supplies we had lying around our craft table while we made some magic with our wands.
DIY Harry Potter Magic Wand Supplies:
Here is everything we had on hand for our crafty Harry Potter lunch:
Wooden Dowels and/or Chop Sticks
Hot Glue Gun (this one’s great! )
Glue Sticks
Mod Melts / Mod Molds
Beads and Jewelry pieces
Bubble wrap
Duct Tape
FolkArt Color Shift Paint
FolkArt Brushed Metal Paint
Martha Stewart Gilded Gold
Acrylic Paint [We used FolkArt!]
Round Wooden beads (slide them over the dowel for a fun effect!)
That was all we used, but the possibilities are endless!
How to Make Your Harry Potter Wands; or How to Make Olivander Jealous
To make the most basic wand, all you need is some hot glue, a hot gun gun, and wooden dowels. After plugging in your hot glue gun and loading it up, squeeze the hot glue onto your wooden dowel in the pattern you would like to achieve. The basic goal is to create one end of your wand that is larger than the other end, and create something more akin to a point at the smaller end of your wand.
The Many Ways to use Hot Glue
A more hap-hazard squeeze while simultaneously using the tip of the glue gun to spread out the glue will result in an unfinished, knobby wood texture. Meanwhile, squeezing out a large glob of glue and holding your wand vertically will result in an interest “large drip” effect. Shauna’s second wand ended up looking almost bone-like!
To achieve a more precise round effect like Anna’s, simply hot glue a ring around your dowel, allow it to dry, and keep adding new rings in layers. Eventually, you’ll have a somewhat sphere-like object on your wand.
I personally adored the technique I used for the base of my second wand. I hot glued 5 glue sticks around the base of the dowel. Slowly but surely, I used the hot tip of the glue gun to melt these sticks together and shape them to my desired shape. I also found that my running the hot tip around my glue sticks in a slow circle a fews times, a nice indented/negative-space effect would occur.
There is no limit to what patterns you can make with a hot glue gun! I personally also really enjoyed creating a spiral pattern down my wants for an interesting texture. Other coworkers made beautiful slithering vines and more!
Other Harry Potter Wand Building Hacks
Bubble wrap
One of my coworkers discovered a pretty neat hack for building up the base of your Hogwarts-worthy wand. By cutting a long strip of bubble wrap and wrapping it around your wand’s base, you can easily build-up your wand’s width. Just be sure to secure the beginning and end of the bubble wrap wrap with some hot glue! This hack is helpful if you don’t want to just use a lot of hot glue to build up the base. I used the “Bubble wrap” method with my first wand, and the “glue stick molding” method with my second.
I found the bubble part of the bubble wrap a bit annoying, however. Perhaps I was worried the bubbles might pop? Or that it didn’t feel the right wand-weight? I’m not sure. What I ended up doing was popping all the bubbles and wrapping the deflated wrap instead. …Probably because I mostly just wanted to pop the bubbles.
Also, instead of just wrapped the base, I wrapped my entire wand, using fewer layers the farther up the wand I got. It created a pretty nice tapered effect in the end!
Duct Tape
Duct tape was my saving grace when I was making my first wand. As mentioned, I used the bubble wrap to create my wand’s base shape, but the texture that resulted in the end didn’t feel quite like a “sturdy” wand any more. Duct Tape to the rescue!
I wrapped the bubble wrap base of my wand with duct tape to get back to a more sturdy “wooden” feel. It also helped me shape my wand even further. When I wrapped it more tightly, it made an excellent smooth grip in the handle. I ended up using this tight wrapping technique all the way up my first wand before adding extra glue and mod melt embellishments and paint.
My cat, Binx, checking out my wands back at home. Because what good Witch doesn’t have a black cat?
Beads  & Accessories
Though most characters in the Harry Potter Cannon have wands carved strictly from wood, containing some slight embellishments perhaps. The majority of their wands most “flashy” sounding attributes comes from their wand’s core– Veela hair, Unicorn Hair, Phoenix Feather, etc.
But some of the Harry Potter characters (at least in the movies) have some pretty fancy looking wands. Here’s looking at you, Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy. I decided to make one of my wands (my second) a more traditional carved wood. The other, though, I had some fun with, gluing a few beads and metal pieces I found lying around in my craft drawer to the handle and base.
As one coworker described it, “Sure they’re made of wood. But they can have some flair. It’s like a phone case for your wand.” And boy, am I proud of my pretty “phone case.” I imagine this one would belong to an older witch, who likes to be a little glam, but remain elegant. Maybe a mix of Minerva McGonagall and Neville Longbottom’s grandmother?
Mod Melts & Mod Molds
In addition to the regular glue gun sticks, we tried our hand at using Mod Melt sticks as well! These were excellent for more intricate designs, as the Mod Melts tend to come out the glue gun less liquid-y. So you have more control over your pattern.
Shauna also discovered that Mod Melts  create a very beautiful large-drip effect (see her white wand in the picture at the bottom.) It reminds me of a combo between The Goblin King in the Labyrinth’s style and Lord Voldemort’s wand.
One pro-tip: the Mod Melts take a bit of time to cure, so you’ll want to wait a little longer before painting them for the paint to adhere properly. Something else you can add to your wands are the melts that have been formed in “Mod Molds.” I have some made in the floral pattern that I’m going to definitely use for future wands!
PAINTING YOUR #20YearsofMagic  WAND
The final step in your wand making process is painting your wand! After allowing your hot-glue to dry, use a styrofoam plate to create your palette. I used FolkArt “Nutmeg” as a base coat for my wands. I also used a mixture of a number of FolkArt Brushed Metal Paints and FolkArt ColorShift Black Flash to give dimension to the wood of my wands.
The technique in terms of painting was very simple. Using a craft sponge, I sponged on regular FolkArt acrylic as a base coat. Then, I dabbed my sponge in all of the different Brushed Metals in almost a marbled pattern and from there sponged that on my wands. I went back with a smaller brush to add accents wherever I thought it was necessary after that.
For my first “fancier” wand, I also painted a large portion of the handle in FolkArt ColorShift Aqua Flash. I then with a smaller brushed, used Martha Stewart’s Gilded Gold to accent the floral metal piece and flower & ball beads that I’d glued to the bottom of the wand’s handle.
My coworkers and I each holding one of our finished wands. This picture was admittedly taken on my Mac’s PhotoBooth App, because I totally (regrettably) left my phone at home that day.
How are you celebrating #20YearsofMagic?
Wands are complete, so now it’s time for me to review all of my Harry Potter spells! Over the next couple of weeks, I’m hoping to post more fabulous things about Harry Potter. Because why not celebrate while the getting’s good?
I’m also pumped because I’ll be in Europe during the 20th anniversary. And I will be traveling through Spain with noneother than my Harry Potter Obsessed Friend, Remy! One of Remy’s travel quirks is she enjoys buying a Harry Potter book in every new country she visits. And I’m TOTALLY DOWN for that tradition!
So, are you a Harry Potter nut like me? Did you realize it’s been (almost!!!) 20 years? What will you do to celebrate the day? Let me know in the comments below!
