This week we lost legendary film director David Lynch. His TV series Twin Peaks and extensive filmography have been the source of countless imitations, references and parodies ranging from The Simpsons to Soul Eater, Scooby Doo to Gravity Falls, Gilmore Girls to Clueless.

David Lynch had his Capricorn Sun at the critical 29th degree, conjunct his Venus at 26 degrees, ascending Scorpio 18 degrees, Virgo Moon at 5 degrees conjunct the Midheaven, Saturn and mars retrograde and conjunct in Cancer at 20 degrees.

Capricorn Sun have many imitators. Elvis Presley had his Sun in Capricorn at 17 degrees. Their energy makes a lasting impression that easily sways the culture at large as well as the individuals they come in contact with.

Pluto was at 17 degrees Scorpio, conjunct Lynch’s ascendant, when Twin Peaks debuted. Pluto was at 17 degrees Capricorn when David Lynch began production of Twin Peaks: The Return, the long awaited third season of his revolutionary tv series that abruptly ended due to declining ratings while Pluto was at 22 degrees Scorpio in his first house.

these are written predominantly for the *rising* signs but they are also intuitively "channeled" enough that they should work for any dominant energy you have! aries: fiery hot sagittarius season is inbound. this is great news for your overall vibe and aura, but especially if you want to pursue any lofty academic, philosophical, or spiritual goals. heated debates and exercise both tend to do well in this atmosphere but, due to upcoming retrogrades, be cautious of injuries (physical or egoic!)

taurus: you are renowned for appreciation of true quality, so don't settle in material matters or in relationships. as the season shifts again the temptation or opportunity to merge households or resources may arise. carefully evaluate before jumping in.

gemini: with mercury and jupiter opposing each other in mutual reception you have access to ideas and resources that normally would not occur to you. make good use of them! meanwhile, the dawn of sagittarius season heralds relationship developments or the formation of new strong alliances.

cancerians: you've now seen pluto come and go from your 7th house a few times. this week, it does so for the last time in your lifetime. it's like a breath of fresh air for 7th house themes. but don't forget that pluto is always somewhere... now it is in your 8th, but it's pretty well suited here if you don't panic too much. indeed, this can bring you lots of financial fortune.

leo: this is the week wherein pluto moves into aquarius for the last time. it will remain there for a couple more decades. for a whole sign system, this is the 7th house. you're entering a long era of major change, which will sometimes make the word "uncomfortable" look pitifully inadequate, to your relationships with other people. first date small talk, for one example, may begin to seem painfully unbearable. of course, it goes way deeper than that. try not to despair, this is ultimately for good and many more pleasant things will exist alongside it over the years.

virgo: these are certainly mutable times and while you are definitely one of the mutable signs, you do get "indigestion" (probably literally...) from too much chaos. ceres this week is encouraging you to embrace change, but not without a good measure of self care. and that's not just bubble baths but also any doctor visits you've procrastinated, a good healthy diet (not deprivation but nutrition!), and plenty of exercise. stay home all you want, as long as it nourishes you.

libra: pluto in aquarius can actually be really good for you. yes, people make pluto out to be a big bad villain, and yes it does often come with some unpleasantness. but aquarius is your 5th house so this is, over the next many years, going to make harmonious aspects to your libra points. if you need to throw out a hobby or situationship and start fresh, that will be your cue.

scorpio: your ruling planet heads for aquarius this week for good. by good, i mean a couple solid decades. this is your fourth house, and dramatic changes at home may occur, especially early on in the process. alternatively or perhaps in tandem, you might also see that family skeletons in closets are unearthed so to speak, or you may discover interesting (?) new information regarding some ancestors.

sagittarius: your solar season arrives this week as pluto heads out of capricorn for a long, LONG time. you don't have to let pluto steal your thunder, but be patient with others as they may be having a harder time navigating this than you will. meanwhile a mercury-jupiter opposition also grants you eloquent speech, quick thought, and probably a healthy amount of money and good fortune.

capricorn: pluto out of your sign for the *rest of your life* probably feels like a great relief and if it doesn't just yet, it will before very long. of course, pluto never disappears from the sky, it just moves on. so he now affects your values and possessions. keep your self worth bolstered all up, and note that pluto has certain associations with vast wealth. to bring up a stereotype, that's very much your style. enjoy.

aquarius: you've had a couple of brief tastes of pluto in the early degrees of your sign, those were dress rehearsals and the real deal starts here in just a couple of days. while it's not *THE* age of aquarius, it's certainly putting you in a type of focus. the dissolution of the ego/identity can be harrowing and also beautiful. think in terms of butterfly metaphors for the next twenty or so years. sometimes you're goo in a chrysalis and that's okay.

pisces: while you've been hosting old saturn in your sign, you've had a little more contact with the so-called "real" world as other people experience it in its mundanity, or the illusion thereof. this week has a very surreal quality which is very much your speed. in a strange turn of events, your friends (even strangers...) may, for now, see you as the grounded one.

An Era-Defining Pluto Cazimi

This Week's Astrology, Jan. 20 - 25, 2026

Happy MLK Day! Since last week’s Cancer full moon, Aquarius season has begun. TikTok was banned in the U.S. for about 10 hours before it was resuscitated. (Not that I freaked out or anything.) Oh, and I don’t know if you’ve heard the other news (ie: read your Aquarius Season Horoscopes), but there’s also a sinister era-defining, once-every-248-year Pluto Cazimi in Aquarius. And that’s just on Tuesday. The rest of this week’s astrology sees swaths of activity swirling around plans, commitments and follow-throughs. You may also expect to see some surprise actions, changes in direction, unexpected connections, and a brief but nonetheless potent moment for heightened emotional connection, sensitivity, and care.

But I’m sure you’re more curious about the Pluto cazimi—I know I am. A cazimi puts a planet “in the heart” of the Sun, which basically means two things: 1) that planet gets a reboot, like a new season of a sitcom—it’s the same characters, same location, but different plot twists are about to unfold; and 2) the Sun shines a light on the story that planet is already telling. With the Sun conjunct Pluto (Pluto cazimi), the Sun is bringing to the surface all of Pluto’s hidden power, wealth, and influence, illuminating the pre-existing Pluto in Aquarius storyline of supremacy (read: corruption, collapse, and regeneration) through technology.

How I see this Pluto Cazimi most obviously taking shape right now is: the mob of billionaire tech bros (Musk, Zuck, Bezos, and all the Crypto enthusiasts) saddled up to Trump. These guys aren’t just attending the U.S. Inauguration on Jan. 20, they have courtside seats, and they are the same techno-crypto fat cats who either lined Trump’s pockets to helped him get elected (looking at you, Musk), or simply “donated” millions to Trump’s Inauguration Ball. Either way, they used some of their massive wealth and influence (Pluto) to fund a powerful leader (the Sun).

The billionaire tech giants literally own social media; they own the platforms through which swaths of people receive their news and/or spend the majority of their time doomscrolling. So, the Pluto Cazimi is shining a light on that. It’s very plainly saying to the people, to the collective (which is what Aquarius rules): these few, wealthy bros who are already in power, want more power. Over tech. Over government. And probably over you. Remember: Pluto is power. It is influence, massive wealth and hidden riches; and it can describe both the people who wield such things and the destructive force therein. Because Pluto is destructive. It’s also regenerative, typifying the whole death-and-rebirth cliche.

Pluto transits can take us to a dark place, decimating and demolishing to eventually rebuild. They also encourage us to compost the dark, decayed, mucky feelings that are getting in the way of growth and transformation. So, on a personal level—as in, for you as a person who is part of the collective—this Pluto cazimi is a chance to think about how much of your power you’ve given over to tech, to social media, or to other destructive forces in your life. And how you can transform. Not right this second—not even next week, but slowly over time.

The two rulers of Scorpio clash this week so I would have to come out of hibernation to talk about it considering they are my two rulers.

It’s needless to say this would be an intense week but intensity has a way of expression. Despite a lot of fear mongering on this poor transit which aims to get us off our relaxed Taurian behinds, I feel Saturn influence this week on Mercury can give us the sobering effect to make best use of it. Making this intensely productive week in my view but not the one of fun and luxury as love bombing of Venus and Jupiter might have made our mind slip into lala land. June is about to show us thousand shades of grey as it goes from all about Jupiter to all about Pluto & Saturn to Neptune to Saturn again as by end of month social planets are to slip into their retrograde journey - Saturn (29 Jun), then Neptune (2 July). One by one external influences affect us a lot this month but each leaves internal conflict of some form which we are left to resolve by ourselves as we would slip from communicative Gemini external talk season to being home with oneself Cancer season on 20th June. This internal conflict that external influences create within us is our driving force this week.

Before Neptune tries to make mush of my 29º Piscean Mercury I will try to get to point now. And despite my natural paranoid self, I would try to keep the remnant lesson of Neptune in Pisces transit - create from faith and not fear even though there is fear attached to this aspect in traditional thinking.

My Uranus ascendent won’t let you believe anything traditional. We wouldn’t make positive Taurean changes in external world where we value stability so much if our internal demons aren’t woken up by Pluto. Its the same place it all comes from - you packed it away due to social fear in the same damn place to hide from the light - your raw desires, “perceived” negative emotions, you need to control to the point of abuse, your need to gain power, your intensity, magnetism as well as sexual magnetism and your ability to make impossible happen - all categorised neatly labelled in one box of underworld demons - all repressed under social pressure never to ever see light of day.

Jupiter in Gemini was generous - said talk openly to me Pluto - I will elevate your darkness to a higher purpose. Your drive will serve a purpose, your anger and your need to control will also serve an elevated purpose. Demons let loose at large in the open light ready to seemingly take over the sacred Jupiter realm which expanded both the influence and somehow made us comfortable with being all we wanted. This created a verbal mind freak Frankenstein of a person which doesn’t fit the transitional Taurian mould does it. Demons roaming in light of day in Taurean light do not look pretty. Here comes the judgement and internal conflict. It’s always the first step of any real external change which would come when Mars Uranus will meet to swallow whole a part of our traditional set up on 15 July (week of). Uranus changes will never stick especially in Taurus (love, money, self worth, beauty) if Pluto our inner engineering is not disrupted. It somehow happens through a trauma but it does. Mars Uranus are suddenly earthquakey shifts which we would be gifted with every two years to change the surface of ground we stand so steady on in our financial world, in our love life, in our self concept, in our idea of what beautiful and what love is and what is worthy or not in our physical world. Pluto helps us dig something more meaningful than crypto gold by conflicting with the material or surface or vain value of this change. So called demons enrich us else we would all be bodies looking for something which would never satisfy the soul.

This need to feel something more than surface is what drives our demons out in the open creating the conflicts we would see this week. Need to have soul attached to a change, hunger for power attached to ambition, hunger control laced in love, edgey dark artist works enriched by emotions not socially accepted to be shown in light of day - they all make what we create now. It will conflict with some people’s values and idea of what “pretty” or “love” or “beauty” looks like and that people would be first you yourself. This is internal conflict, you are inflaming your own body by blocking a part of you - you have labelled as “demonic” due to what you were told cause Aquarian time had not come. Those demons would be normal in a progressive society but they are not today so what do we do this week - do we dress them up in socially acceptable clothing so we can take them out for dinner. If the Beast wears a three vested coat can he dance in a ball with Belle. When you love despite the fear is that deeper than Taurean physical relaxed love or just toxic intensity of forbidden fruit. When you create from a place of trauma and damage is that you being honest in art or just spewing your dysfunction to masses. When you put your foot down to control your ideas and assets instead of freely sharing with traditional institutions are your being a recluse or are you breaking the hierarchy of old institutional structures. When your almost teenage daughter starts looking at black mascara is she acting up or just trying to express her not so nice girl which later can come out in more damaging ways. Perfection in beauty is the most repressive thing in the world - any very symmetrical Libran family can vouch for that. The glossed over, airbrushed, filtered images have made us believe anything else is not pretty. Damage is concealed. Though may be we shouldn’t be looking for soul on tik tok.

That brings me to the point. Are you looking for depth in wrong places. My father once said and he has never been wrong, your profession and passion may never be the same and should not be. He never said to not pursue them both but the concept of it - wanting one thing to be everything. The beast had to turn into the prince for happy ending. Aquarian age solutions might be different - blessing is we have a choice in today’s day and age to possibly pursue both. That’s what Gemini season and Sun Saturn is for - making those new or multi prong approach to get what you want to come to solid life. So first step is to give yourself grace in anger this week when you feel this intensity within yourself of being dissatisfied that traditional ways aren’t giving you the satisfaction of the soul, they were not designed for it - their concept will change overtime as Uranus adds more liberal views and freedom of thought to them. Observe the source of dissatisfaction and see if there are other outlets for the passion which doesn’t make one thing everything. Mars Pluto has the power to move mountains - you could change people’s mind - crypto is everything money, wild passion should be daily part of marriage with a stable not violent human being, you can wear goth make up in your 60s and it would still be cute, billionaires can be quickly made without nefarious plans or having one programmed for power and comfortable with the dark, popular art needs to be as complicated as this article - it wont happen it doesn’t. So we do both we have pop astrology and we have real talk. One makes money and one hopefully feeds the soul, duality of Gemini Jupiter makes us open to more than one options to help our demons run free and give them life to feed us. Can you feed off it and create something meaningful and lucrative both. Accepting that part of what you do would be profession and part would be passion.

That’s the thing with demons - once they have been shown light of day, they get over themselves and transform over time. Whether you verbalise them with help of Jupiter and Mercury in Gemini - I need this, I would like this, I would put my foot down for this, I need ambition, I need more, I need more passion, I need a bit of drama, I need a bit of this which I know is not socially accepted but it is what it is. You will find a way to express it - thats what Gemini season is for and thats what this year of Jupiter in Gemini is for. We should be physically careful but repression of whats coming out of you is not the answer. There is a reason Jupiter held hands with Pluto taking it out in the light. Cause that place where you hid everything away also had your personal power. They call it kundalini release for a reason.

aries: quite probably you're not at your most energetic with mars in retrograde in cancer. a little opposition from the sun will help slightly this week. but overall it's best to embrace a restful period.

taurus: nurture your connection with friends and acquaintances, and make new ones if you can. it should be fun and not a chore, so make sure they're people you actually like. this is the backbone of a healthy social group, which we need as social beings, however introverted we are.

gemini: this gentle week has mercury making some light but pleasant aspects to outer planets, helping you do good for the wider world while also using the macrocosm as a form of your own microcosmic introspection. as above so below. watch for the patterns.

cancerians: use this week's broadly supportive astrology to strengthen yourself, developing whatever facets of your life have deficiencies to correct. this could be anything from romance to academics to your literal muscles, but get to it!

leo: don't let yourself be shamed for seeking attention. obviously, respect the boundaries of others, but also remember at all times that attention is a fundamental human need, which it is all our birthright to have fulfilled. in that spirit, generously attend to those who need you, too.

virgo: the key to any interpersonal issues is to follow what makes you happy. relationships that aren't doing so need to be rectified fast, or wrapped up and properly mourned. relationships that do, are to be pursued and nourished.

libra: always a graceful one, this week has you looking more poised than ever even if you don't feel it internally. this can have people flocking to you, trying to get some of that equilibrium in their own lives. provide what you can/want, but don't let anyone drain your energy.

scorpio: while this week's sun-mars opposition can feel draining for many, it probably reinvigorates you at least a little bit. the emotional vulnerability other people are a bit nervous about gives you life, really.

sagittarius: this is another period for you to focus on your home life and your roots. you might unearth a family secret, discover an interesting ancestor, or just make your house particularly comfortable and beautiful.

capricorn: this particular sun-mars opposition is an awkward feeling for you due to the signs these objects are in and the retrograde of mars ongoing. so, not comfortable, but most likely no real harm is done.

aquarius: there is about to be a significant amount of uranian energy but this week is the calm before the storm. with that said, it will feel like a storm to many but it's the brand of chaos you actually thrive in. so for now, batten down any hatches in need of it and go about your business quietly.

pisces: you may find yourself getting a lot of attention this week or just being overall quite busy. all in all this will be a series of good and rewarding things, although it may feel chaotic and hectic at the same time. you are something of a creature of the void, though, so in many ways, this is a flow you can go with.

Shake-Ups, Fresh Starts, and Mercury Retrograde

     As we wrap up the crazy astrology of July 2024, things only get crunchier in August, thanks (in large part) to Mercury Retrograde. The good news? Mercury doesn’t station direct until Sunday, which means you have all week to get your ducks in a row and prep for the backwards slide. Mishaps, miscommunications, and mysterious misplacement of your keys / phone / wallet will likely ensue; laughing at the missteps and backing up your technology, whilst giving into the reflective nature of the 3-week-long transit, is highly recommended.

     The other good news? We have a lovely opportunity to start over and re-stoke a flame for your creative projects, passions, romantic life, and/or star power. And after a tense and restless jolt to your love life or wallet, these also get a reset come Sunday. Relationships move from dramatic and passionate to organized, efficient, and nurturing. Those are the main events of this week. Here’s the actual astrology:     

July 30 – Venus in Leo trines retrograde Chiron in Aries (23°55)

Aug. 2 – Venus squares Uranus in Taurus (26°)

Aug. 4 – Leo New Moon (12°36)

Aug. 4 – Venus enters Virgo

Aug. 4 – Mercury stations Retrograde in Virgo

     For the record, Aug. 4 happens in this order: Leo New Moon at 5:13 am MST, Venus enters Virgo at 8:22 pm MST, and Mercury stations retrograde at 10:56 pm MST. So, goal-setting, intention-setting, any sort of plan, publication, release or launch is still OK on the Leo New Moon, as Mercury isn’t technically retrograde yet. (Yes, Mercury is in its shadow phase, which many people say is MUCH WORSE than Mercury Retrograde, but I’m not sure how or why. Anyway!) Long story short: don’t let mercury Rx scare you away from living.

As we transition from the day of Hades moon to soon a full moon in Sagittarius we feel ourselves go through an intense process of shift emotionally as Moon square Pluto - well can eat something which brings comfort to see why you need it and can you stand without.

It can feel intense but this monthly transit helps us transform slowly emotionally bringing us closer to knowing our own self making us strong in turn without reliance of another. Under the Hades moon I wrote below, I don’t plan what I do so it’s not a normal format but I am going to share it otherwise whats the point of writing.
