#JapanGameSalesCharts: Week of November 21-27, 2022 - #Omori #GungraveGore #videogames #elmundotech
While Pokémon Scarlet & Violet continue to hold on to first place, only two new games were released in Japan game sales charts for the week of November 21-27, 2022. This time around, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet sold 577,279 copies, which is 22% of all the copies sold during its initial week in sales (2,537,292). It was still enough to overcome games such as Splatoon 3, Minecraft, Mario Kart 8…

Nightwish - The Phantom of the Opera 2002
"The Phantom of the Opera" is a song from the 1986 stage musical of the same name, based on the 1910 French novel of the same name by Gaston Leroux, which tells the tragic story of a beautiful soprano, Christine Daaé, who becomes the obsession of a mysterious, masked musical genius living in the subterranean labyrinth beneath the Paris Opéra House. The song was composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with lyrics written by Charles Hart and Richard Stilgoe, and additional lyrics by Mike Batt. The song was originally recorded by Sarah Brightman and Steve Harley, which became a UK hit single in 1986, prior to the musical. Listen to it here! In its theatrical debut, it was sung by Brightman and Michael Crawford in their roles as Christine Daaé and the Phantom. Listen to it here! The Phantom of the Opera was the longest running show in Broadway history, and celebrated its 10,000th performance on February 11, 2012, becoming the first Broadway production in history to do so. It is the second longest-running West End musical, after Les Misérables, and the third longest-running West End show overall, after The Mousetrap. The original West End production at Her Majesty's Theatre, London, ended its run in 2020, its run cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nightwish is a Finnish symphonic metal band from Kitee. The band was formed in 1996 by lead songwriter and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, and former lead singer Tarja Turunen. The band soon picked up drummer Jukka Nevalainen, and then bassist Sami Vänskä after the release of their debut album, Angels Fall First (1997). In 2001, Vänskä was replaced by Marko Hietala, who also took over the male vocalist role previously filled by Holopainen or guest singers.
In 2002, Nightwish released Century Child, along with the singles "Ever Dream" and "Bless the Child". Century Child was certified gold two hours after its release, and platinum two weeks afterwards. It set a record on the Finnish album charts of most distance between a first place album and the second place. An enduring favorite of fans is the band's version of "The Phantom of the Opera". The song was routinely played in concerts until October 21, 2005, when vocalist Tarja Turunen was fired from the band and later replaced with Anette Olzon, whereupon the band announced that they would never play the song live again. This would hold true for 17 years until November 27 and 28, 2022, when Nightwish was joined by Dutch singer Henk Poort on stage at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam to perform the song. Marko Hietala joined Tarja Turunen at a couple of her solo shows in 2023 to sing "The Phantom of the Opera" with her. They are set to tour together in Spring 2024 in Latin America on Tarja's "Living The Dream – The Hits Tour".
"The Phantom of the Opera" recieved a total of 82,7% yes votes!

Canada’s Department of National Defence (DND) will host trial sessions for Israeli arms technology used to kill Palestinians and maintain apartheid and occupation during a three-week “sandbox” event in Alberta next month.
From May 27 to June 21, DND is giving a select group of military suppliers the chance to test products that are designed to counter aerial drones, with direct assistance from Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) staff and experts. Among those selected is a company called “Twenty20 Insight Inc.,” which is testing the “Smash Hopper counter-drone weapon station.”
The “Smash Hopper” is a remote control weapon system developed and manufactured by Israeli arms company “Smart Shooter,” whose technology is deployed by the Israeli military in fortifications that are used to suppress Palestinian dissent in the occupied West Bank, as well as in military hardware currently being used in Israel’s assault on Gaza.
As reported by AP News in November 2022, Smart Shooter developed remote control turrets deployed by Israel that fire tear gas, stun grenades and sponge-tipped bullets at Palestinian protesters in the occupied West Bank.
Omar Shakir, the Israel and Palestine Director at Human Rights Watch, told AP: “This system will only [...] further grave Israeli human rights abuse and further the Israeli army’s abuses and the Israeli government’s crimes against humanity of apartheid and persecution against millions of Palestinians.” [...]

Clarification regarding MHA’s final chapter being published in a double issue
Weekly Shonen Jump’s annual publishing schedule plans for 52 issues. However, it might confuse you to know that those numbers begin in December, not January. For example, Issue #1 of the 2024 run was actually published in December of 2023, following 2023’s Issue #52 which was published in November.
WSJ also accounts for holiday breaks in this scheduling. Since 2016, they have released at least four “double issues” per year in accordance with Japanese holidays: Christmas, New Years, Golden Week, and Obon Festival, which fall in December, January, April, and August respectively.
As a result, you get back-to-back double issues in late December/early January, then a double issue in the last week of April and the first week of August.
Despite what you might think, double issues do not contain twice the amount of content.
Indeed, they occasionally have a couple extra color pages or two-page spreads than usual, but the main thing that is special about them is the “JUMP cast photo” covers. Weekly covers may highlight 2-3 characters from a couple series, or go for a bigger “splash page” look incorporating different series and more characters.
But double issues, without fail, cram absolutely everybody in there—the protagonist from nearly every series currently running in the magazine gets a spot on the cover, often with each of them matching in theme, as with this Christmas-themed one from the 2019 serialization:
And this year’s own Year of the Dragon New Years cover!
Obon’s double issue tends to have the summer theme, obviously, as we can see here with 2020 and 2022:
I even researched the last few times a series ended in the Obon double issue, and that would be Act-Age in 2020 and Nisekoi in 2016. From some light reading, Nisekoi typically had 16-17 pages per chapter, while the final chapter had 24. Act-Age, on the other hand, pretty consistently had 19-21, and its finale had 20 pages.
I researched how many pages MHA typically has for the Obon issue.
I also researched these numbers for the Golden Week double issue and it was similar, don’t question me, okay, I’m a freak.
These aren't noteworthy numbers; My Hero Academia has always varied between 15-21 pages, ebbing and flowing. Horikoshi said shortly after the Uraraka vs. Toga finale that his editor arranged for each chapter to be 15 pages because that was the number he could consistently complete, since sudden deviation or incomplete pages can cause serious stress to the rest of the publishing staff who have to arrange new chapters from around twenty different series every week.
From this information alone, we have no reason to believe the final chapter of MHA will contain double the typical number of pages.
However, we do have some tankōbon math to do here.
Volume 41 is being released a few days before the final chapter. We don’t have official confirmation, but most of the recent volumes have had 12 chapters and ended on a cliffhanger. In light of this, I suspect volume 41 will cover 411 through chapter 422, thus beginning the final volume, volume 42, on chapter 423.
The longest MHA tankōbon release has been 216 pages long, while the shortest is 184 pages.
We know we will get five more chapters from now, ending on chapter 430.
Every tankoban has at least 4 pages of table of contents and copyright, so the math works out this way:
4 pages + 45 pages with chapters 423, 424, and 425 = 49 pages Longest outcome: 216 – 49 = 167 167 divided into 5 new chapters: 33.40 average pages per chapter Shortest outcome: 184 – 49 = 135 135 divided into 5 new chapters: 27 average pages per chapter
This average is quite shocking to think about and begs the question, “what the fuck is UP, Horikoshi-sensei!?”
The recent trend of 15 pages per chapter for all eight chapters plus the four for table of contents/copyright would yield only 124 pages, which is definitely too few for release. I think there is a strong possibility we will get that upper range of his page count average, 20-21, until the end, which would yield about 154.
I said 184 was the shortest, but technically volume 7 had a unique release with 169 pages plus a drama CD and booklet, which makes me wonder if the final volume might have some sort of special content?? Or possibly volume 41 will end at 421, making it 11 chapters long while volume 42 is 9??
This answers some questions while raising a whole bunch more. I can't wait to find out~!!! <3
Note: I gathered most of the precise numbers-and-dates information referenced in this post—and my Jump GIGA post—from a fan-made Jump Database. Special thanks to the very dedicated people who maintain it.
#mha finale#idk what to tag this#bakuhatsu numbers freak?#bakuhatsu shonen jump guru?#I feel like I'm accidentally becoming very knowledgeable about WSJ#just thought I would share the forbidden secrets

Rhys Darby returns to New Zealand for two huge milestones - Spy
Rhys Darby is back in New Zealand.
Why is Kiwi comedy star Rhys Darby back in New Zealand?
Rhys Darby is returning from his base in Los Angeles for a double celebration over the next few weeks - his 50th birthday and a special event to mark his 25 years working as a stand-up comic.
“I’m home for my 50th birthday celebrations,” he reveals to Spy.
Darby hits the big milestone on March 21 and says he, his wife and manager Rosie are planning on a shared party with their family and friends.
A week later, Darby will be in proud parent mode as his eldest son Finn’s band, Great Big Cow, will be performing at The Whammy Bar on Karangahape Rd on March 27.
“So, as a cool dad, I’ll be there of course, with my band manager suit on,” he says.
There will be fun and laughter to have on Waiheke Island the following week too. Popular island spot Wild Estate Vineyard in Onetangi has secured Darby for an exclusive one-off New Zealand show with an intimate audience of only 200 tickets.
Punters can be sure Darby’s will be giving the native birds on the island a squawk for their money with his famous bird calls from his 2021 TV stand-up show Mystic Time Bird.
“The show is called ‘25 Years’ - it is a celebration of my stand-up career,” say Darby.
“I’ve hand-picked the best material from my five comedy specials, and I’ve also added some new stuff,” he divulges. “It’s all killer, so the audience can expect me having a blast, and so I’m sure they will too.”
Wild Estate has become the go-to live venue on Waiheke for comedy and live gigs; last month, the Jordan Luck Band rocked the vineyard, and comedians Nick Rado, Tony Lyall, Paul Douglas and Ruby Esther have all had successful stand-up nights there too.
Darby has been home several times over the last few years, whether to film with his mate Taika Waititi in West Auckland for the second season of their hit HBO Max show Our Flag Means Death in late 2022, or his Kiwi road trip with David Hasselhoff called Hoff the Beaten Track last spring.
Darby finished the year with aplomb, hosting the 51st International Emmy Awards in New York in November.
The production company for his road trip show, Stripe Studios, made headlines last month with the New Zealand Herald’s Media Insider column, penned by Shayne Currie, reporting Stripe for unpaid bills. The production company also filmed a travel-style show with US comedian Iliza Shlesinger. Currie reported the Netflix comedy star is applying to have Stripe Studios (Comedy) Ltd liquidated. Stuff followed up this story, reporting Hasselhoff was also owed money from the production company.
Darby politely had no comment on the state of his and The Hoff’s road trip show, but sources say Darby played a big part in getting as many of its Kiwi crew as he could paid by Stripe.
However, Darby did share that Hollywood has been rather wet and dull so far this year. “I have a few top-secret TV and film projects in development, which I am really looking forward to.”
“What I can reveal is: I’ve been involved in Mukpuddy’s awesome adaptation of Badjelly the Witch,” he says.
“I think it’s going to be so so good!”

Louis Tomlinson has dropped a surprise album ‘Live’ – featuring songs that he recorded at 15 shows across 15 different cities.
Announced and shared yesterday (April 25), the album comes after the singer and former One Direction member embarked on two world tours over the past three years – playing just shy of 200 shows globally.
Now, a variety of performances from both tours – the ‘Louis Tomlinson World Tour’ and the ‘Faith in the Future World Tour’ – have been compiled into a new live album, which is available now.
Fifteen songs are included in the tracklist, and each was recorded in a different city, at a different show from across the three-year run. The album comes in both digital and physical formats, and features his singles including ‘Bigger Than Me’, ‘We Made It, ‘Walls’ and ‘Out Of My System’, alongside fan favourite album tracks, all released live for the very first time.
“I’ve been lucky enough to spend the last 3 years touring the world twice over. The feeling I get sharing those live moments will be with me forever,” Tomlinson said in a statement. “To be able to record these songs from all over the world and put them out as an album like this feels so special, and a real tribute to the fans who make each and every show feel unique and incredible. Thank you! Enjoy!”
There are four exclusive tracks split between the physical editions of ‘Live’, including a special version of the One Direction classic ‘Where Do Broken Hearts Go’ – which is available only on the double CD.
Accompanying video clips of compiled tour footage will be shared on Louis’s social channels to support the release, showcasing a glimpse into his past three years on the road and 170 performances.
The ‘Live’ tracklist is:
‘The Greatest’ (Live From London, 17 November 2023) ‘Face The Music’ (Live From Nashville, 18 July 2023) ‘Bigger Than Me’ (Live From Vancouver, 26 June 2023) ‘Holding On To Heartache’ (Live From Barcelona, 6 October 2023) ‘We Made It’ (Live From Manila, 16 July 2022) ‘Chicago’ (Live From Chicago, 15 June 2023) ‘Fearless’ (Live From Rio, 27 May 2022) ‘Common People’ (Live From Sheffield, 10 November 2023) ‘All This Time / She Is Beauty We Are World Class’ (Live From Munich, 22 October 2023) ‘Walls’ (Live From Buenos Aires, 21 May 2022) ‘Written All Over Your Face’ (Live From Budapest, 15 September 2023) ‘Out Of My System’ (Live From Brisbane, 30 January 2024) ‘Saturdays’ (Live From Paris, 14 October 2023) ‘Silver Tongues’ (Live From Krakow, 10 September 2023)
At time of writing, Tomlinson has shared two huge solo albums since departing from One Direction. His debut album arrived in the firm of 2020’s ‘Walls’, which has sold over 1.5 million copies, and the follow-up was called ‘Faith In The Future’. The latter went to Number One in the UK, Spain and Belgium, and Top 5 in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and across Europe.
Since May last year, Tomlinson has been on his ‘Faith In The Future World Tour’, which hits South America next month for its final leg. From there, the vocalist has a number of festival appearances lined up for the summer. Find remaining tickets to his shows here.
In other Louis Tomlinson news, earlier this week the singer, alongside Courteeners and English Teacher, were among the acts to be honoured at the first-ever Northern Music Awards.
The inaugural ceremony was hosted by the UK’s largest music therapy charity, Nordoff And Robbins and took place at the Albert Hall in Manchester; celebrating northern artists, festivals, venues and industry figures. The event saw Tomlinson named as Artist Of The Year.

Since you're losing me was written and recorded in Dec 2021, does that change who you think it is about / timeline on the different things?
Thanks anon, I hadn't seen the detail on December 2021. Jack's Story added below - thanks @leftamarkonme She might have shared it now so people stop being trauma-core about her Eras performances saying she was crying when she wasn't.
To be honest, if You're Losing me was written in 2021 would not surprise me or change how I view it. He wasn't at the All to Well SNL launch but I thought it was too cynical to say it was over 18 months before the announcement, even if I thought it. Because I think Glitch was written after the Brits in May 2021.
Also, they were seen looking frosty AF at a 2022 Oscars Party and 2022 VMA after party. Maybe she wrote it and they continued to try to make it work for another couple of months to May. Or maybe it was over and they had agreed engagements to give themselves some privacy while they recovered before it went public. I actually hope it is the later because I think making space herself is fantastic.
This is the timeline I had with midnights post:
2020
25 November - In the Long Pond Session Taylor said Joe was William Bowery
16 December - Taylor said to Zane Lowe that Happiness is about ending a long term relationship, she switched to first person
2021
15 March - Grammy's Joe had never come & it was COVID limited, but he won a Grammy for *Album of the year* & I'd say she has the pull for a ticket for a producer of it
April - Folklore credits update to add Joe as producer on 6 songs, including 3 William Bowery wrote, Grammy eligible. No credits for midnights and evermore.
12 May - Taylor was honored with a Global Icon award at the Brits. Harry also there and won. Joe left to film in Belfast the week before
21 August - Joe actually seen with Taylor
14 September - Taylor seen in ireland, seen at conversations with friends cast party
14 November - Blake, Ryan, Sophie & Selena join Taylor at the SNL All to Well launch party. Joe A was filming in Panama.
5 December - You're Losing me written here
2022
27 March - They went to the Vanity Fair Oscars pre-party, but Taylor skipped the 2022 Grammy's, Brit Awards and Oscars. It's interesting that the only photos of Taylor are of getting out of the car with Joe squinting, they bypassed the press line.
Taylor stopped liking Joes IG posts here
18 May - Taylor receives an honorary doctorate from NYU, while not a party it is a massive deal. In her speech she smiled at a particular part of the audience when she referenced friends and family, but Joe was at a Rising Hollywood party in LA.
31 August - VMAs afterparty - Joe & Taylor's unglamourous run to a car. The VMAs have been important to Taylor since 2009. She was on the cusp of winning the most VMAs ever, announced Midnights and All to Well won. I wonder if Midnights was already done though.
20 October - Midnights pap walk where Joe uses a coffee table book to shield his hand from being held.
2023
9 February - Grammy afterparty- she wore his jacket, the huge deal made out of this is enough to say it was already over.
31 March - The 1 replaces Invisible String.
8 April - break up announced said it occured 'weeks earlier'

with all the timeline and aging talking going around, i couldnt help but wonder what youre thoughts are on time progress in Legacyverse (and if youre able how it applies to DR) 👀
Well, this is something I've discussed before (and here a bit), but I have since refined it!
Book 1, Pilots: May 20X1 - June 20X1 (Zane/Cole: 17, Kai/Jesse/Olivia: 16, Jay/Nya: 15, Lloyd: 13)
Book 2, S1: August 20X1 - November 20X1 (Zane/Cole/Kai: 17, Jesse/Olivia: 16, Jay turns 16, Nya: 15, Lloyd turns 14)
Book 3, S2: November 20X1 - very early January 20X2 (Zane/Cole/Kai: 17, Olivia turns 17, Jesse/Jay: 16, Nya: 15, Lloyd: 14)
Book 4, S3: Late March 20X2 - May 20X2 (Zane: 18, Cole turns 18, Kai/Olivia/Jesse: 17, Pixal: "16", Jay/Nya: 16, Lloyd: 14)
Book 5, S4: Summer 20X2 (Zane/Cole/Skylor: 18, Kai turns 18, Jesse: 17, Pixal/Jay/Nya: 16, Lloyd: 14)
Book 6, Post-S4: September 20X2 - October 20X2 (Zane/Cole/Kai/Skylor: 18, Jesse: 17, Jay turns 17, Pixal/Nya: 16, Lloyd turns 15)
Book 7, S5: October 29th, 20X2 - January 20X3 (this seems weird, but there's some tiny timeskips in a few spots) (Zane/Cole/Kai/Skylor: 18, Jesse/Jay: 17, Pixal turns "17", Nya: 16, Lloyd: 15)
Book 8, S6: May 20X3 - ???? (haven't quite locked in how long Skybound takes, but I have since decided it starts with Kai/Jay/Jesse's graduation + will occur over the summer SO-) (Zane/Cole: 19, Kai and Skylor turn 19, Jesse: 18, Jay/Pixal/Nya: 17, Lloyd: 15)
Book 9, DotD: October 29th, 20X3 (Zane/Cole/Kai/Skylor: 19, Jesse/Jay: 18, Pixal/Nya: 17, Lloyd: 16)
Book 10, S7: March 20X4 - May 20X4 (I know in-show it takes place immediately after DotD, but I've since tweaked some things) (Zane: 20, Cole turns 20 (maybe; if not, it happens like RIGHT after), Kai/Skylor/Jesse: 19, Jay/Pixal: 18, Nya turns 18, Lloyd: 16)
Book 11, S8+S9: September 20X4 - February 20X5 (again, seems excessive, but there's timeskips and big things that happen differently) (Zane turns 21, Cole/Kai/Skylor: 20, Jesse turns 20 (again, maybe; if not it happens immediately after), Jay and Pixal turn 19, Nya: 18, Lloyd turns 17)
(...also fun fact, this season/book roughly matches everyone's ages for the Royal!AU! ...with exception of Pixal, but still, anywaaaay—)
Book 12, NRG Arc (Wildbrain Seasons): a pending August 20X6 - December 20X6 (again, haven't fully sorted through this, but all these adventures save for maybe S11 wouldn't...be longer than a few days or a week or three, at most.) (Zane/Cole/Kai/Skylor: 22, Jesse: 21, Jay and Pixal turn 21, Nya: 20, Lloyd turns 19)
Book 13, Finale Arc (S10+Crystalized): December 20X7 (or whenever the anniversary of Seabound's events would be) - January 20X8. Possibly longer, possibly shorter. Knowing me, probably longer. (Zane turns 24, Cole/Kai/Skylor: 23, Jesse/Jay/Pixal: 22, Nya: 21, Lloyd: 20)
. . . I know that's a lot of colors and numbers, hope I didn't blind anyone ;w;
Anyway, that is where Legacyverse officially ends; everything beyond is just fun speculation and does not apply to nor affects nor reflects upon the story proper!!!!
The Merge: approx. January 2020 (In my head, there's a minimum of two years between Crystalized and the events of the Merge, giving ample space for Quest for Lost Powers to happen on top of giving these people at least a small break (and maybe Jesse a baby), but not so long that they're that much older either yet. Thus, this also puts the timing of the Merge in the year of 2020.)
So Zane is almost 26, Cole/Kai/Skylor: 25, Jesse/Jay/Pixal: 24, Nya: 23, and Lloyd: 22 at the time of The Merge, for my case for show!compliancy.
...though in the chain of events that do include Cam, I'd add on an extra two years of "downtime", which would then put The Merge in the year 2022...maybe on 2/2/22 for extra eerie factor oooOOOoooh)
So, ages for The Merge event in the Cam!Route would be Zane: 28, Cole/Kai/Skylor: 27, Jesse almost 27, Jay/Pixal: 26, Nya almost 26, and Lloyd: 24. Cam would also be two, almost three ;w;)/
DR: Aaaaaaand then, the general yet subjective consensus is that the time between the Merge itself and the start of the DR events has to be a minimum of 3-5 years for Arin/Sora to grow up from kids to teens with palpable differences + the "annual" events of the Crossroads to have merit + that dialogue exchange after Zane's freedom to make sense, etc.
For show!compliancy, I'd actually go with the three years side of spectrum. So in 2023 (heyo, the year DR began in meta time!!!), Zane is almost 29, Cole/Kai/Skylor: 28, Jesse/Jay/Pixal: 27, Nya: 26, and Lloyd: 25, ding ding ding ding!
...But since I am me, I have already committed to the full five years for my own personal hcs. So for the Cam!Route, I'd go with five years instead -> so in 2027, Zane: 33, Cole/Kai/Skylor: 32, Jesse almost 32, Jay/Pixal: 31, Nya almost 31, and Lloyd: 29. Cam would also be seven, almost eight.
So, yeah. Not 100% concrete thoughts or anything, but they're the things I've been munching on in my head. And this is just basing off of how time plays out in Legacyverse, not necessarily 1:1 to how I think things unfold in the show proper (...which I dunno if I could even begin to untangle beyond what I already have ._.)
Also, if you're curious about others' ages in relativity to all this:
Bridget is 2 years older than Olivia
Miranda+Nelson are 3 years younger than Jesse (or, one year younger than Lloyd)
Antonia is older than Jay by a month, otherwise they're the same
Harleigh and Sunni are roughly Nya's age (but Harleigh's older + Sunni's younger); Maggie fits in this group as well
Harumi and Darkley's kids are obvs Lloyd's age, just older than him
Meghan is roughly Zane's age
Chad is Kai's age (just younger by a few weeks)

New Single Chapter Fics Under the OFMD Tag on AO3, comparing 2022 & 2023 / S1 & S2
The number of new single chapter fics under the OFMD tag on AO3 has been under observation since July. It's time to wrap this up and post the finalised graphs:
Weekly new single chapter fics (1 July - 1 December 2022 and 2023)
Daily new single chapter fics (September-November 2022 and 2023)
Daily new single chapter fics (3 weeks during and 5 weeks after S1 & S2)
Multichapter fics were not counted since it's difficult to get that data from AO3. Also, multichapter fics aren't necessarily as good at reflecting the level of "acute inspiration" as single chapter fics.
The data was collected by Tikli on 3 December 2023.
First, let's look at the weekly data during the 22 week observation period (1 July - 1 December 2022 and 2023).
The total number of new fics during the observation period was 5,000 (weekly average 227) in 2022 and 5,272 in 2023 (5.4% more than the previous year; weekly average 240).
In July and August 2022, the number of weekly new fics was clearly higher than in 2023.
In September, the difference between years wasn't as clear; first half of the month had more new fics in 2023 and the second half had more new fics in 2022.
Kinktober caused a spike in the numbers at the beginning of October both years.
In 2022, the numbers declined rapidly after the first week of October and in November, the weekly numbers were below the weekly average. After the first week of October, there were more weekly new fics in 2023 than in 2022.
In 2023, season 2 aired on 5 October and the weekly numbers grew each week during the season. The numbers declined the week after the finale aired, and in November, they were below the lowest week of October. During the last two weeks of November 2023, the weekly numbers were below the weekly average.
Highest weekly number in 2022 was 485 (30 Sep - 6 Oct). In 2023, it was 581 (21-27 Oct, the week when the final episode aired).
Lowest weekly number in 2022 was 142 (25 Nov - 1 Dec). In 2023, it was 84 (1-7 Jul).
Next, let's take a closer look at the daily numbers during September-November 2022 and 2023.
The total number of new fics during the observation period was 2,906 (daily average 32) in 2022 and 4,160 (43% more than the previous year; daily average 46) in 2023.
In September, the lines of both years are overlapping (between 13 and 47, daily average 25 in 2023 and 26 in 2022). After S2 trailer on 14 Sep there’s a noticeable spike in the numbers.
S2 aired between 5-26 October. During the same period in 2022, the number of daily fics was between 27 and 73 (daily average 45). During the airing of S2 the daily number was between 55 and 102 (daily average 72).
After the finale of S2 (27 Oct -30 Nov), the numbers decline rapidly, ranging between 17 and 100 (daily average 45). During the same period in 2022, daily number was between 12 and 45 (daily average 24).
After mid-November, the lines of both years start overlapping again (between 12 and 47, daily average 31 in 2023 and 20 in 2022).
Finally, let's compare the number of daily new single chapter fics during the three weeks when seasons were airing and during the five weeks after the season finale.
Season 1 started streaming on 3 March 2022 and Season 2 on 5 October 2023. New episodes aired weekly on Thursdays and the final episode aired three weeks after the season started.
The total number of new single chapter fics during the observation period was 3,088 in 2022 and 3,164 in 2023 (2.5% more than the previous year)
During the three weeks when the new season was airing (counting the air date of the final episode), the daily average of new fics was 7 in 2022 and 72 in 2023.
During the five weeks after the final episode, the daily average of new fics was 84 in 2022 and 45 in 2023.
The highest daily number in 2022 was 125 fics 17 days after the finale aired. In 2023, the highest daily number was 102 fics on the day the finale aired.
The lowest daily number after the finale of season 1 was 56 fics the next day after the finale. After the finale of season 2, the lowest daily number was 17 fics three weeks after the finale aired.
Five weeks after the final episode, the number of daily new fics was 68 in 2022 and 25 in 2023.

Oh Canada. A nurse who treats women and babies could lose her job because of her activities outside of work after two people, who weren’t even her patients, complained.
For more than two years, Canadian nurse Amy Hamm has been going through an ordeal that can only be described as Kafkaesque.
In November of 2020, Hamm had been informed by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) that she was under investigation for her “off-duty conduct.”
Two members of the public – neither of whom were Hamm’s patients – had complained, essentially, that she was a “transphobe.”
Despite Hamm’s flawless track record and her history working with transgender patients over the course of her decade-long career, the BCCNM took the random complaints seriously. Six months later, Hamm was sent a document over 300-pages in length detailing dubious “evidence” of her transphobia in the form of her published articles and posts on social media.
Hamm is an advocate for women’s single-sex spaces, and has been involved in the Canadian iteration of the debate around gender ideology – the idea that one’s self-declared “gender identity” is more important than their biological sex. BCCNM took the position that Hamm’s personal views made her unfit to be a nurse.
Hamm’s lawyers described her views to the BCCNM as follows:
“Men are not women. Humans are a dimorphic species. Women and men are biologically different from one another. Women and girls have sex-based rights as a result of those differences. Those rights are under threat. This is the truth. It has always been the truth. Speaking the truth should not be a punishable offense.”
Hamm has written and spoken publicly about gender ideology in addition to organizing large events where this topic can be debated and differing perspectives can be heard. While she had been doing this for almost 7 years, what eventually triggered the two complaints against Hamm was her involvement in erecting a billboard in Vancouver that simply said “I [heart] JK Rowling.”
The billboard didn’t last long, and was vandalized repeatedly in its short time being up on Hastings Street.
For this, she was put at risk of losing her nursing license and her livelihood on the charge that she has made discriminatory and derogatory statements regarding transgender people while identifying herself as a nurse.
Initially, her disciplinary hearing, which is taking place over video, was scheduled for May 30 through June 3, 2022. However, it quickly ballooned to an expected seven days and was rescheduled for September 21-23 and October 24-27, 2022.
After the first seven days, four more days were subsequently added the week of January 10. The fourth day in January was canceled when it became obvious that the hearing was nowhere near completion, and it was decided that another eight days would be added.
Those dates have not yet been scheduled, but one wonders if even the added days will be sufficient to conclude what has so far been a demonstration of the ideological capture of the BCCNM.
It all kicked off on day one when BCCNM legal counsel Michael Seaborn (who displays he/him pronouns next to his name, like the rest of the BCCNM legal team) declared that insisting there are only two sexes denies the very existence of transgender people.
The BCCNM contends that, as a regulated professional, Hamm is not allowed to make such basic, factually accurate statements.
The next day, the BCCNM called on its first expert witness, Dr. Elizabeth Saewyc, who is the Director of the University of British Columbia School of Nursing and a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), which recently decided that a man who castrates himself as part of a sexual fetish is a gender identity.
One of the highlights of Saewyc’s testimony was when she had great trouble (or, at least, pretended to have great trouble) understanding that lesbians are females attracted to other females. In fact, she opined that it might be transphobic for a lesbian to openly state her exclusive interest in other females.
The next witness for the BCCNM was Dr. Greta Bauer, a Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario. Bauer is also a member of WPATH.
Bauer continued to present ludicrous ideas about sex and gender identity as if they were universally accepted and unquestioned.
She spoke confidently about toddlers having gender identities and people changing sex over the course of their life. At the same time, she was unable to define terms like “gender,” “sex,” “women,” and “female.”
At one point, Lisa Bildy, legal counsel for Hamm, put to Bauer a definition of “female,” coined by biologist Heather Heying, that accounts for all possible caveats: “Females are individuals who do or did or will or would, but for developmental or genetic anomalies, produce eggs.”
Bauer could not agree with this definition. When Bildy pressed further, legal counsel for BCCNM Barbara Findley objected, claiming that the definition of “female” was outside of the scope of Bauer’s expertise.
Like Saewyc, Bauer did not agree that lesbians are females who are exclusively attracted to other females. She said that lesbians should examine why they are not attracted to men who identify as women and likened sexual orientation to sexual racial preferences.
Bauer also dismissed concerns about the potential harms of placing trans-identified male prisoners, many of them sex offenders, into women’s prisons. She hand-waved away the suggestion that this situation may create an unacceptable level of risk by saying that “cisgender” women assault each other in prison as well.
On the topic of gender-affirming medical procedures for minors, Bauer stated that it would be transphobic to question any of the extreme and experimental interventions that are being performed.
When Bildy suggested that one of the side effects of hormonal interventions for young trans-identified females is early menopause and corresponding symptoms like hot flashes, Bauer remarked that some adolescents might be “excited about that.”
Bildy closed her cross-examination by pulling up a photo of the infamous Oakville, Ontario high school shop teacher.
She then asked Bauer if the man wearing the enormous prosthetic breasts is a woman.
“If she identifies as a woman, then her gender identity is a woman,” Bauer responded.
“With full access to female spaces?” Bildy pressed.
“As per the law,” Bauer said.
Hamm is, essentially, in trouble for holding the opposite position.
After Bauer’s cross-examination was complete, it should have been time for Hamm’s witnesses to give their testimony. However, counsel for BCCNM has spent a good portion of the 10 days of proceedings trying to get her impeccably qualified witnesses dismissed.
Legal counsel for Hamm intends to call Dr. Miriam Grossman, Dr. Kathleen Stock, Dr. Linda Blade, and Heather Mason. All have extensive knowledge of the gender ideology debate and experience in different areas pertaining to it.
Dr. Grossman is a practicing psychiatrist who works with trans-identified patients and has been raising concerns about gender ideology since 2006.
Dr. Stock is a philosopher, a writer, and the author of Material Girls: Why Reality Matters for Feminism.
Dr. Blade is the president of Athletics Alberta and co-author, along with journalist Barbara Kay, of Unsporting: How Trans Activism and Science Denial are Destroying Sport.
Mason is an advocate for women in prison and a former federal prisoner who knows more than anyone what is happening to the marginalized women who are bearing the brunt of Canada’s disastrous policies regarding the placement of trans-identified male prisoners.
BCCNM counsel has argued that none of these witnesses’ experience, expertise, and opinions are relevant to Hamm’s case, despite the fact that they clearly demonstrate the existence of an ongoing debate of great public interest.
On day 10 of the hearing, Karen Bastow, legal counsel for Hamm, reiterated that what is taking place is not a negligence case but a free speech case. She stressed that Hamm’s speech is protected by her charter right of freedom of expression.
Opposing counsel Findlay made it clear that the BCCNM cares nothing for Hamm’s charter rights by launching into a description of how Canadian institutions have been completely captured by gender identity ideology as if this is a positive and desirable state of affairs.
“A transgender youth in Canada, or an adult for that matter, may discover their identity as transgender and, when they do, they find it in the context of a medical and a legal system and an educational system that recognizes and understands, accepts, and assists with their identity as transgender people. The schools teach it, the doctors practice it, the nurses care with it.”
She concluded, “there is no debate here. Here, the debate is settled.”
Except the debate is not settled in Canada: it has not even begun. The BCCNM is trying to prevent it from even starting by silencing Hamm and not allowing her witnesses a chance to testify.
What is happening to Hamm should not happen in a free and sane society. It is an example of the totalitarian nature of gender ideology and its “no debate” mantra come to manifest.
Amy Eileen Hamm is a dedicated nurse who has never faced any workplace discipline. She is a mother of two young children. And she is now facing the loss of her job for stating basic facts that most people agree with. This should concern everyone.
Our society should be applauding the kind of people who can stand up to social pressure and against atrocities like the sterilization of children and the destruction of women’s boundaries. Instead, it has cowed to a regressive orthodoxy that is burning heretics at the stake.
No, the debate is not settled. Amy Eileen Hamm’s hearing is only its beginning.
By Eva Kurilova Eva is a guest essayist for Reduxx. A regular contributor at Gender Dissent, Eva is passionate about promoting lesbian activism and protecting women's sex-based rights. You can find her traversing the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, Canada with her partner and their husky, Freya.

My artworks during 2022.
I wish everyone a happy New Year and happy holidays!
Unfortunately, like last year, I didn't have the exact template with my drawings this year either, so I'll post through this. Unlike 2021, during 2022 I improved my drawing methods a bit, and also opened a new blog where I mostly post my drawings and you can see them here: https://www.tumblr.com/ducktoonsfanart
Yes, I mostly drew related to Donald Duck and the Duckverse, but especially in November I also drew other franchises, mostly from Looney Tunes and Tiny Toons. Yes, this year I managed in all 12 months to draw at least one drawing in one month. Yes, there were ups and downs for me, but overall, the results were solid. Yes, although I mostly draw Quack Pack, I've certainly drawn related to Donald Duck comics, Darkwing Duck and the Three Caballeros. I hope to focus more on not only the Donald Duck franchise this year, but the others as well. I'm hoping to get over 100 followers on my side blog and hit 500 followers on this one. All in all, thanks everyone. And now the results of my drawings, that is, an overview through the year 2022:
January 2022 - Happy New 2022 Year! Ducks, goose and parrots teenagers celebrate the New Year - 22 views (likes and reblogs)
Also - Duck Avenger (Paperinik-Pk) and Double Duck ( PK Timecrime DD ) - 24 views
February 2022 - Gyro Gearloose and his friends in timetub - 21 views
March 2022 - Donald Duck and his family-Donald's family (Tribute to Carl Barks) - My version - 27 views
April 2022 - Teenager Donald and teenager Daisy with teenagers Huey, Dewey and Louie and teenagers April, May and June Duck (Young Donald and Quack Pack) - 45 views
May 2022 - Donald and Goofy Movie (Goof Troop and Quack Pack crossover) - 37 views
June 2022 - The Three Caballeros Ride Again - 37 views
Also Donald's birthday and summer party! - Happy birthday Donald Duck! (Plus Happy birthday Della!) - 38 views
July 2022 - Huey, Dewey and Louie and April, May and June Duck on vacation at the seaside - Quack Pack summer - 22 views
August 2022 - Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck with baseball hats - 24 views
Also Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck - Quack Pack - 25 views
Septembar 2022 - Ducktales - Happy 35th Anniversary and Happy 75th Birthday Scrooge McDuck! - 31 views
Also Donald Duck as Duck Avenger and his family as superheroes - Duck comics (Duck Avenger, She-Venger and Q-Galaxy) - 33 views
October 2022 - Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck - Triplets Mania - 85th anniversary - Quack Pack Week - Triplets - Plus Phooey Duck - 28 views
November 2022 - Duckvember - Humble Duck (Ducks) - 30 views
December 2022 - Donald and Daisy Duck and their children (Huey, Dewey and Louie, April, May and June Duck) celebrate Christmas and New Year - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! - 26 views
And finally my most viewed drawing is:
Double Duck (Donald Duck as secret agent) and his student (more precisely his nephew) in action - 234 views (I don't even know how that drawing managed to get so much)
Plus surprise at the end: Duckvember - Manic and Problematic Duck and Free Space - Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Holidays - Crossover Ducks - 23 views
True, there are things that didn't work out so well for me, but I'm trying as hard as I can to improve all of that. I hope that the year 2023 will be a better opportunity for my drawing and that it will be better than the previous year and the year before. I thank everyone for following me and keep following me and there will be more surprises. And it won't just be about Disney and Warner Bros.
Once again, happy holidays to everyone and a happy new year 2023!
If you have any impression of what you liked the most and what you didn't like about these drawings, feel free to say so.
