listening and learning. the future has always been female
by Michael Roppolo
June 8, 2023 / 1:32 PM / CBS News
Researchers have identified the first known case of a crocodile making herself pregnant — and producing a fetus that was genetically identical to herself. The findings were published Wednesday by a team led by evolutionary biologist Warren Booth from Virginia Tech in Biology Letters, a journal published by the Royal Society.
In 2018, officials with the Parque Reptilandia in Costa Rica found 14 eggs in a female's enclosure. The crocodile had been in isolation since the age of 2, yet she still managed to lay a clutch of eggs at 18.
"Given the period of isolation from mates, these would normally be considered non-viable and discarded," the researchers wrote. But the officials gathered seven eggs that appeared viable and kept them in an incubator.
There were several signs that one of the eggs may be viable, Booth told CBS News.
"Viable eggs are often bright white, whereas infertile may be more yellowish," he said. "When held up to a flashlight, viable crocodile eggs will have a distinct band, whereas non-viable will simply glow yellow."
Costa Rica officials reached out to experts in the U.S. for consultation — ones that specialized in parthenogenesis. The term is derived from the Greek words "parthenos," meaning "virgin," and "genesis," meaning "origin," according to Encyclopedia Britannica.
Booth, and co-author Gordon Schuett of Georgia State University, had published multiple papers on the topic. As such, they were the "go-to people," Booth told CBS News.
Once considered rare, so-called virgin births have been documented among various species — including sawfish, snakes, sharks, and birds. The process, which is more common in the plant and insect worlds, allows a female organism to replicate itself without fertilization from a male.
In 2021, a study found that California condors can have virgin births. Researchers with the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance said genetic testing confirmed that two male chicks that hatched in 2001 and 2009 from unfertilized eggs were related to their mothers. Neither was related to a male. In 2019, an anaconda housed with two other females gave birth. DNA testing would later confirm that the anaconda babies were reproduced through parthenogenesis.
In the case of the crocodile in Costa Rica, three months after workers found the eggs, none had hatched and only one egg was found to have a fully formed but nonviable fetus. DNA analysis would later determine that the fetus was 99.9% genetically identical to its mother.
Virgin births could be happening in crocodiles without anyone realizing, according to the researchers.
"These findings, therefore, suggest that eggs should be assessed for potential viability when males are absent," they wrote.
The authors suggest that in these cases among reptiles, birds, and now crocodiles, there may be a common evolutionary origin.
"This discovery offers tantalizing insights into the possible reproductive capabilities of the extinct archosaurian relatives of crocodilians and birds, notably members of Pterosauria and Dinosauria," they write, referring to flying reptiles that have been described as "close cousins" of dinosaurs.
Booth told CBS News that crocodiles are at the base of a lineage known as the archosaurs, with the most recent members being birds. All of these creatures use the same complex form of parthenogenesis, or terminal fusion automixis. It is unlikely they all developed independently.
"The cool aspect is that in between crocodiles and birds are the pterosaurs and dinosaurs," he added. "Given that all of these lineages use the same mechanism, it is highly likely that pterosaurs and dinosaurs also had the capacity to produce parthenogenetically."
#crocodilians are so so so so cool anyway one of my forever faves but this is a whole other level of cool#i looooove that there are species that can do this

The decline in U.S. drug overdose deaths appears to have continued this year, giving experts hope the nation is seeing sustained improvement in the persistent epidemic. There were about 97,000 overdose deaths in the 12-month period that ended June 30, according to provisional Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data released Wednesday. That’s down 14% from the estimated 113,000 for the previous 12-month period. “This is a pretty stunning and rapid reversal of drug overdose mortality numbers,” said Brandon Marshall, a Brown University researcher who studies overdose trends. Overdose death rates began steadily climbing in the 1990s because of opioid painkillers, followed by waves of deaths led by other opioids like heroin and — more recently — illicit fentanyl. Provisional data had indicated a slight decline for 2023, and the tally released Wednesday showed that the downward trend has kept going.

Screenwriters in 35 countries across the globe are staging a public show of support for their counterparts involved in the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike.
"Screenwriters Everywhere: International Day of Solidarity," a global event scheduled to take place on June 14 in nations as diverse as Bulgaria and South Korea, includes rallies, social media campaigns and picketing outside local Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) member offices.
The Federation of Screenwriters in Europe (FSE), International Affiliation of Writers Guilds (IAWG), and UNI Global Union (UNI-MEI) worked together to organize the actions. Combined, these organizations represent around 67,000 film and TV writers worldwide.
"The members of the IAWG, made up of Guilds from Europe, America, Canada, India, Africa, Korea, New Zealand and Israel, stand in solidarity with our sister Guilds in America," said IAWG Chair, Thomas McLaughlin, in a statement shared with NPR. "The companies that seek to exploit and diminish writers are global, our response is global, and the victory gained in America will be a victory for screenwriters everywhere." ...
With companies like Netflix, Amazon and Disney operating in many countries around the globe, the "International Day of Solidarity" comes amid fears that writers outside the U.S., where production continues, could potentially steal jobs from striking WGA members over here.
But many international writers guilds have issued guidelines to their members over the past few weeks about steering clear of jobs that ordinarily would go to WGA members.
"We've put the message out to our members that if an American producer knocks on your door and says, 'We need a European writer,' while it's incredibly tempting, we are really strongly recommending that our members do not do that because they will get blacklisted by the WGA and it would be viewed very much as breaking the strike," said Jennifer Davidson, chair of the Writers Guild of Ireland (WGI), in an interview with NPR.

LACUNA COIL To Release New Single 'Oxygen' Next Week
Italian heavy rockers LACUNA COIL will release a new song, "Oxygen", on Wednesday, October 2. The artwork for the single can be found below.
"Oxygen" will arrive two months after LACUNA COIL released its previous single, "Hosting The Shadow", featuring a guest appearance by Randy Blythe from LAMB OF GOD.
In April, LACUNA COIL released "In The Mean Time", featuring Ash Costello of NEW YEARS DAY. The song's title is a reference to the mean times the world is living in, as well as a reference to the state the band itself is in, between cycles.
In July 2023, LACUNA COIL released the official lyric video for a new track called "Never Dawn". For the song, the band partnered with CMON, the renowned board game publisher behind the popular game "Zombicide".
LACUNA COIL played its first concert with the band's new guitarist — whose name has not yet been disclosed — on August 4 at the Rockstadt Extreme Fest in Râșnov, Romania.
This past June, LACUNA COIL announced the departure of guitarist Diego Cavallotti.
Cavallotti, who joined LACUNA COIL in 2016, initially as a fill-in guitarist following the exit of Marco "Maus" Biazzi, later said in a social media post that "this decision is not the result of my dissatisfaction or desire to explore new opportunities."
When LACUNA COIL announced Cavallotti's departure on June 17, the band wrote in a statement: "As we step into a new cycle, writing and recording our next album, we are parting ways with Diego 'DD' Cavallotti. We thank him for the many unforgettable moments shared over the years and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
"All future live plans remain unchanged and the new songs are taking form, we can't wait to share them with our fans."
LACUNA COIL recently completed the "Ignite The Fire" U.S. tour with support from NEW YEARS DAY and OCEANS OF SLUMBER.
In a recent interview with Brazil's Sonoridades Inc., LACUNA COIL singer Cristina Scabbia spoke about the progress of the writing and recording sessions for the band's follow-up to 2019's "Black Anima" album. She said: "I can't really tell you a lot. I can tell you that we are progressing very fast. We are almost, like, 100… We completed, let's say, the demoing. We still have to record the rest of the songs, but we will soon — probably after the tour, after the [May 2024] North American tour. And if everything goes as projected, before the end of the year [it] will be released. And that's already a big news, because we always say, 'We don't know. Maybe.' … I absolutely love the songs. I'm part of the process. But I'm very pleased."
Asked if "Never Dawn" will be on the upcoming album, Cristina said: "I think it will be. I think it will be, 'cause it will make sense. And it also fits with the other songs — it really fits with the other songs. Many heavy songs."
LACUNA COIL has spent some of the last couple of years promoting "Comalies XX", the "deconstructed" and "transported" version of the band's third album, "Comalies".
"Comalies XX" was made available on October 14, 2022 via Century Media Records.
LACUNA COIL celebrated the 20th anniversary of "Comalies", by performing it in its entirety at a one-night-only concert on October 15, 2022 at Fabrique in Milano.
"Comalies" was originally released on October 29, 2002 through Century Media Records. The LP, which featured the band's breakthrough single "Heaven's A Lie", has reportedly gone on to sell over 300,000 copies in the United States alone.

Jake “Hangmanˮ Seresin was due for deployment. Some thoughts scattered his mind as he parked by the dock. His house was locked, his dog Riley had been put in good hands, and he didnʼt recall leaving the stove or any lights on. He got his keys, secured his phone, and retrieved his duffle bag from the trunk. Just as he was about to shut the hood, Bradleyʼs blue Bronco caught his eye as it pulled into the parking space. It wasnʼt anything unusual of course... save for a womanly figure that seemed to occupy the front seat.
Jake watched as Bradley helped her down all gentleman-like and grabbed his own bag from the backseat. She was small, clad in a deep purple sundress with sandals and a white sunhat. If Jake wasnʼt mistaken — she looked a lot younger than the type he knew Bradley went for. So naturally, he was intrigued (and not at all looked like a creep) as he witnessed Bradley bend down to kiss her, running his fingers through her mahogany-colored, soft waves with one hand settled on her hip. He saw her dainty hands caress his face as they appeared to exchange sentiments. Then, Bradley kissed her fingers — lingering as he finally mustered the will to part from her and head towards the carrier.
Jake followed them, making it seem he had just emerged from the lot. He saw Bradley wave from afar to her and she returned it. Then he finally disappeared from sight. She stood still in the crowd of people beginning to form, and Jake approached steadily. He came up beside her, her face concealed by the shade of her white sunhat. She must have felt him near her for she glanced up at him momentarily before hastily wiping her cheek and facing him.
“Oh,ˮ she remarked. “Hello.ˮ
“Hey,ˮ Jake replied, finally seeing her face — soft and round with stunning doe eyes, shiny lips, and olive skin.
“It only hurts the first few couple of times, timeʼll show ya.ˮ Jake assured her.
“Does it?ˮ she said, sniffing lightly. “Because I bet your significant other would beg to differ.ˮ
“Boyfriend?ˮ Jake handed her his handkerchief. She nodded as she took it.
“Thank you,ˮ she told him. “Iʼm Lucy.ˮ
“Jake, but my callsignʼs Hangman.ˮ
“Do you know, Rooster?ˮ Lucy asked him.
“Mightʼve heard of him,ˮ Jake smiled. “Heʼs a decent pilot — heʼll come home, youʼll see.ˮ
“Thank you,ˮ Lucy replied briefly looking around. “Did you come with anyone to send you off?ˮ
Jake paused, momentarily staring down at her quietly.
“Nah,ˮ Jake breathed, looking among his fellow navy men, engulfed in embraces and lip-locked in goodbye kisses.
“Thatʼs okay, Iʼll be your proxy sendoff.ˮ Lucy smiled kindly.
Jake was taken aback, chuckling as he grinned at her.
“Thanks Lucy,ˮ Jake nodded, gripping the strap of his bag. “Iʼll see you around.ˮ
Jake found it endearing as Lucy also waved to him as he was nearing the carrier, and waiting until he was out of her sight. He watched as she went into the parking lot, surprised, as she boarded Bradley Bradshawʼs precious Bronco and drove off in it.
“Damn,ˮ Jake shook his head as he headed in. “Damn.ˮ
“Hold on,ˮ Lucy chuckled, pouring another round of wine into two of their glass. “Iʼve got some really good dark chocolate to pair with this.ˮ
“Hmm,ˮ Nat hummed as Lucy headed towards the kitchen.
It was 9 pm, and Nat had popped by Lucyʼs apartment per Bradleyʼs request and ended up having a pleasant, extemporaneous nightcap. She leaned her head against the sofa back and reached for a homemade pillow to cuddle. Nat stared at the fish-bowl on Lucyʼs living room table, looking for the cherry-red shrimp she spotted earlier and her attention slowly drifted towards Lucyʼs generous preparations: cut-up fruit, various chips and crackers, and some cheeses. Nat liked how cozy her apartment was and how everything exuded her gentle and homely personality.
“You really do have a nice place Luce,ˮ Nat mused. “You gotta teach me sometime how to keep plants alive.ˮ
“Is that an invitation to yours?ˮ Lucy chuckled.
“Hell yeah,ˮ Nat replied. “You can also be my interior designer— you know, guide my vision.ˮ
“Youʼre very kind,ˮ Lucy blushed.
“Iʼm merely making good decisions,ˮ Nat grinned, raising a glass to Lucy. “Speaking of...Bradleyʼs one lucky guy.ˮ
Their glasses clinked.
“Hey Nat,ˮ Lucy traced the rim of her glass. “Yeah?ˮ
“Can I ask you something?ˮ
“Fire away.ˮ
“Were you and Bradley—“
“Ever romantically involved in anyway?ˮ Nat smirked. “I donʼt mean to be rud—“ Lucy rushed.
“Luce— itʼs fine,ˮ Nat sighed, taking a sip of her wine. “I kinda expected you to bring something like this up. Rooster and I get along and weʼve been friends for more than a decade. Youʼre not irrational for asking that.ˮ
Nat set her glass down on her designated coaster.
“Were we ever romantically involved with one another? No. At some point did we ever think about it? Yes...ˮ
Lucy swallowed nervously, allowing Nat to proceed.
“Some years ago, we talked about how we were getting a little past the usual marker when some of our acquaintances started settling down. So one night, Rooster and I started discussing hypotheticals of marriage and whether or not it involved us both.ˮ
“We were just trying to be realistic adults and it kinda made sense ya know?ˮ Nat explained. “We both have similar lifestyles and experiences being in the Navy. But Lucy, thatʼs pretty all much to it. When it comes down to it, Bradley and I donʼt have the same values.ˮ
“He believes in marrying for love and Iʼm more practical about that. He wants to retire someday, and I plan on getting the highest rank I can before my body gives out. He likes kids, and I think theyʼre crotch devil spawns. You see what Iʼm saying?ˮ
Lucy nodded.
“Crotch devil spawns?ˮ She laughed. “Have you never even tried holding a baby?ˮ
“No thank you,ˮ Nat whistled as Lucy giggled. “Do you like kids?ˮ
“I used to babysit them for extra money,ˮ Lucy replied. “And Iʼve always wanted a little sibling to take care of. So I guess so...ˮ
“Do you wanna have... like a family someday?ˮ
“Sure,ˮ Lucy shrugged.
“But —real talk— donʼt you think that’ll get in the way of your career at Umi?ˮ Nat asked her.
Lucy took a long and generous sip from her glass.
“I came from a broken family,ˮ Lucy whispered. “Bradley doesnʼt know this, but... I never knew my dad. He left before I was born and he was never married to my mom. She was estranged to her family for a while because of that. She raised us on her own here as an immigrant. I watched her become both the mother and the father — and it was hard. So I figured when I was young, if I was going to have kids of my own someday it would be with a mom and a dad yʼknow? So they wouldnʼt have to grow up a little faster or feel like theyʼve been missing something their whole life,ˮ Lucy smiled sadly.
“Donʼt get me wrong I love marine biology. I love the sea. I love my job. But — being in the field for a while and working with all these esteemed people? I noticed that at the end of the day, after all their accolades and ground-breaking research — they donʼt really come home to anyone, just like how I am now to be honest. Family really... is still what makes life so invaluable.ˮ
Phoenix sniffed lightly, Lucy quickly averting her attention.
“God I sound like a bit of a jackass,ˮ Nat remarked. “And Bradleyʼs got one thing right — you are an actual Angel.ˮ
“No—“ Lucy tried to intervene.
“I grew up with two parents who are still happily married and Iʼm a single child with no expectations placed on me.ˮ Nat breathed. “So I guess... I never really held that view of family because... Iʼve had it pretty good...ˮ
“And Iʼm glad that thatʼs the case,ˮ Lucy smiled. They held a brief, meaningful silence.
“Can I ask you something this time?ˮ Nat said.
“Fire away,ˮ Lucy echoed with a smile.
“Are you scared... that if you tell Bradley about... your family that heʼll leave?ˮ
Lucy casted her gaze downwards.
“Sometimes... I feel like Bradleyʼs one of those things in my life that are simply too good to be true.ˮ
Nat placed her hand atop hers, with her eyes meeting Lucyʼs sympathetically. “And you think that he doesnʼt feel the same way?ˮ Nat sighed. “Honey, the man is absolutely smitten with you!ˮ
Lucy chuckled.
“This is the stuff is from that fancy place you went to with Rooster, right?ˮ Phoenix raised the wine bottle from the table. “My guess is that he bought it for you because you liked it. The Bradley I know would never spend this much for wine. And donʼt think that I didnʼt notice the bottles in the pantry!ˮ
“Also, last Sunday, after he made it official between you two? He called me at 2 AM in the morning like a schoolgirl just to tell me!ˮ
A grin began to emerge from Lucyʼs lips again.
“And did you know?ˮ Phoenix was clasping both of Lucyʼs hands now was they faced cross-seated across from each other. “That I canʼt drive his Bronco?ˮ
“But youʼve been friends for more than 15 years,ˮ Lucy remarked.
Nat nodded.
“And you can drive a multimillion, government-owned vehicle and weapons system.ˮ
Not nodded profusely once more.
“I only got my driverʼs license three years ago and I can barely parallel park.ˮ
“On the day we met you, the only reason why Bradley was with me to get Sam, was because he would rather chauffeur me on his day off than lend me his Bronco because my car was in the shop,ˮ Nat told her.
“And if Bradley didnʼt do that, we wouldnʼt have met at all.ˮ Lucy mused.
“Iʼm telling you Luce,ˮ Nat sighed. “I usually donʼt believe in shit like this... but you and Bradley? Youʼre set in stone, my friend.ˮ
Lucy was watching another episode of one of her most favorite shows of all time, Downton Abbey, when Bradleyʼs caller ID lit up her phone. Setting her dinner down, she enthusiastically accepted his call and grinned as his face filled her screen.
“Hey Angel,ˮ he rasped.
“Hello love,ˮ Lucy smiled so excited by the sound of his voice. “Have you eaten, yet?ˮ
“Yeah,ˮ Bradley replied. “Just had dinner some hours ago. Whatʼre you having?ˮ
“Sweet potato gnocchi,ˮ she hummed.
“That sounds so good, I canʼt wait to come home and have your food again.ˮ
“You shall have everything to your stomachʼs desire— or craving more like.ˮ Lucy chuckled.
“Iʼd rather you surprise me, actually if you donʼt mind,ˮ Bradley answered shyly.
“Of course I donʼt,ˮ she smiled.
A beat.
“Where are you?ˮ Lucy asked.
“Iʼm in Souda Bay in Crete,ˮ he breathed.
“Greece?ˮ Lucy sighed. “Oh how I envy you — itʼs the one place Iʼd die to visit.ˮ
“Really?ˮ Bradley whispered. “Maybe we should think of a trip here someday... together.ˮ
Another beat.
“Iʼd like that,ˮ Lucy smiled, biting her lip. Bradley blushed. She stared at his handsome face, his messy curls, the lips, and his hooded eyes.
“Wonʼt you sleep, yet? You look tired...ˮ She asked. The concern in her voice endeared him so, his heart skipped a beat.
“I would, but my mindʼs a bit occupied at the moment,ˮ Bradley replied.
“With what?ˮ
“With you.ˮ
A scant pink dusted Lucyʼs cheeks.
“Do you want me to stay with you?ˮ She offered. “Just until you fall asleep?ˮ
“Iʼd like that, Angel.ˮ
Lucy’s sad that Bradley’s gone, but glad that she’s made some new friends :)) I promise, the next chapter is pure fluff. Read it here! 9.5 | Home

Sue Webster achieved fame and success in the post-Young British Artist era with her then-husband Tim Noble. Following their separation in 2013, the 56-year-old Leicester-born multi-media conceptualist re-visited her teenage obsessions for fresh inspiration as a solo artist. One of those obsessions: hero worship for life-changing punk band Siouxsie and The Banshees. As Webster recently told the Evening Standard, it prompted a new direction for her art: “I based it on a theory that everything I’ve ever learnt in life was from listening to Siouxsie’s first four albums.” (Me too, Sue! Me, too!).
During lockdown, Webster began daubing naïve outsider art-style portraits of spooky punk high priestess Siouxsie onto vintage black leather motorcycle jackets sourced from Spitalfields Market. (One of these efforts was prominently displayed in the first “Monster” room of the recent visionary Horror Show exhibit at Somerset House). Webster’s current “Full Leather Jackets” exhibit in Hackney Wick collates all these works. I went yesterday with my friend Sam and was entranced! Here are my pics. Alongside the customized biker jackets, the exhibit includes re-printed pages from Webster’s adolescent diary. My favourite entry begins something like “Dad confiscated my hair crimpers …”
In the Evening Standard piece, Webster recalls the brain-scrambling impact of coming across a black-and-white photo of Siouxsie in the music press aged 11. That mirrors my experience exactly: it was seeing a grainy pic of Siouxsie in all her cadaverous glory in a magazine when I was in my early teens that planted the idea of moving to London. (All these decades later, I’m still unsure whether to be grateful to her or not!).
Further thoughts:
One funny thing Webster noted: in the old days of the music press before the internet, you'd turn to the ads to mail order your punk and New Wave t-shirts, badges and accessories (especially if you didn’t live in London). She wanted to track down the old-school Siouxsie badges that were ubiquitous in the late seventies / early eighties. During lockdown she scoured eBay, and they simply seemingly haven't survived into the present-day. You can't source 'em anywhere. So, for the exhibit, Webster created her facsimiles.
Finally: needless to say, I deliberately wore a Siouxsie t-shirt to the exhibit – and then forgot to ask Sam to take a photo of me standing in front of one of the jackets! Anyway, see even more here.
The “Full Leather Jackets” exhibit is at Project Space, Unit 14-15 Trafalgar Mews, Hackney Wick, E9 5JG. Wednesday - Saturday 12-6 pm, 28 June - 15 July 2023.

If you are a past or present participant of the Hermit Citizen Community, no matter how much or how little you have participated, we ask that you fill out one response per each of your Citizens (one survey response per character) in the Hermit Citizen Survey linked here:
If your Citizen does not have a Citizen I.D. Card, please create one and place it in a new post in the #Citizen-Information forum thread on the Hermit Citizen Hub Discord Server in addition to filling out this Survey.
This Survey asks for each Citizen’s name, species, age, height, pronouns, base location, occupation and included duties, Citizen affiliations, Hermit affiliations, and the names of any shops that are owned by each Citizen. Please answer each question to the best of your ability, and fear not if you do not have a definitive answer for each question. For example, if your Citizen does not have a base, you are more than welcome to state this as well.
We ask that you answer all of the questions OUT of character from the perspective of you as the creator, NOT as your character. For example, if your Citizen tells everyone that they are a human but they are really a shapeshifter, you should still state their species as “Shapeshifter” in the Survey. In addition, we ask that you keep each response separate for each Citizen you are referring to. For example, if you have created five Citizens, take the survey five times to ensure that all of your Citizens are accounted for accurately.
This Survey is imperative to ensuring that every Hermit Citizen is accounted for and that you can see your Citizen in the final Census. You and the Citizens you have made have crafted the history, lore, and livelihood of the Hermit Citizen world. Regardless of whether you have made a single Citizen and moved on, or if you are a daily voice in this community, the goal of this Census is to celebrate the inimitable creativity of each artist, writer, crafter, and builder who has participated in the Hermit Citizen Community.

Astrology Corner
Have you been feeling without guidance? Do you look at your birthday, look up your star sign, and wonder, “Is The Overseer in need of a checkup?” “Am I able to timetravel? ” Don’t worry, here at The Overseer, we can help you.*
Aries: You will find a series of messages in your room which will point to a podcast that was discontinued in 2014. In that, they discuss a missing person report, which in a later episode was resolved.
Taurus: You read a book on how Newspapers work and why people misuse paper clippings of newspapers.
Gemini: When you checked in on the singular Home Depot of the server, all the duct tape and rope were sold out. You then get to do an off-server trip to get that duct tape.
Cancer: You were watching your favorite documentary, “Why Hermits Do The Things Hermits Do” and it talked about how they were being a bit silly and to always forgive and forget. Forget What?
Leo: Your birthday is on the horizon, but try not to throw a party. Things may go deeply wrong and there’s nothing you will be able to do about it. Watch the magazine articles, they’ll be the only thing that can give you a clue. Do not let the moon see your work.
Virgo: You should be wary of Aquarius. They may seem harmless and always want to help but there have been a lot of articles revolving around them lately.
Libra: Bring popcorn to the Perimeter you will need it due to what is happening with Virgo and Aquarius.
Scorpio: You notice there’s a lot of tension between Virgo and Aquarius lately that no one seems to know the reason behind it. You may want to dig into it and find out what’s the matter before something explodes.
Sagittarius: Make sure to prepare the shelter, do not deny you don’t have it. You do.
Capricorn: You never knew the origin of your family, and maybe that was for the best. You should not look into it as that will not help your situation.
Aquarius: Don’t mind Virgo’s suspiciousness, there’s been a lot of rumours going around lately and they’re probably nervous. Maybe you should bake them something to calm their nerves!
Pisces: Somethings coming…
All star signs: Help.
*Ignore how blatantly specific these are. Nothing bad will happen to you.

Lost and Found

All of the following items have been brought to The Overseer staff’s office for safekeeping until they are claimed. If you recognize one of these items as yours, please visit us to receive your items, or contact us at [email protected]*. Thank you! *Not a real email address.
Item 1: A set of watercolor paintings all depicting builds from other servers. These watercolor paintings measure approximately 16 x 20 inches each, all featuring various structures built by the participants of our server. Each of these paintings has a thin black frame. The bases depicted include the following:
A large, whimsical house with a heavily detailed interior, basement, and bright roof next to a custom-built copper tree, created by Redfeather.
A cozy medium-sized tree house with pink doors and dark wood framing nestled among several cherry trees, made by Sami Bear.
A sturdy iron farm built in the desert with red decor and two massive turrets, made by Okami.
A tall wizard’s tower with stained-glass windows, several complementary textures, a full telescope, bookshelves from floor to ceiling and a spiral staircase inside, and conical roofs, located in a spooky forest, created by Redfeather.
A spacious section of a village featuring a large family home built from stone and wood and three-row houses, perfect for any roaming travelers to settle down, created by Roo.
If these paintings are yours, by all means, continue painting after you have picked these up, as your skills are quite remarkable!
Item 2: 50 Assorted origami dragons. Small enough to fit into the palm of your hand, these dragons were made from paper of every color you can imagine, with each fold carefully placed to give these miniature depictions a reflection of fine-tuned craftsmanship. These dragons include Albanian bollas, Slavic dragons, wyverns, sea dragons, and cockatrices. If these dragons are yours, we admire the patience it must have taken to design such a wonderful collection!
Item 3: A wood carving sculpture in the shape of a 500-type rotary telephone. This sculpture is about the size of a real rotary telephone, painted in pink and cyan. Due to the medium used, a telephone coil was created from aluminum craft wire to connect its two pieces. The creator of the sculpture has somehow made it possible to dial the numbers, and static plays through the holes depicting the phone’s speakers.
Item 4: A series of journal notes written in black ink with a calligraphy pen. These journal pages appear to be ripped out of a book and have yellowed with age. The writing speaks of several events of someone’s journey through various servers before making their way to Hermitcraft. While some of the writing is difficult to read, we can parse that the person writing them was on the run from an overarching being and was not certain that they would survive much longer due to the number of hunters chasing them down.
Item 5: Several yards of fabric of many colors and patterns. These fabrics come in gold, blue, green, purple, and red, and depict patterns of polka dots, stripes, small butterflies, paisley, loops, confetti, and leaves. The fabrics that do not depict any patterns at all include chiffon, velvet, polyester, and crepe. No sewing tools were found with this assortment. A set of notes regarding a costume design were found with the fabrics, noting specific details about which ones are to be used and how.
