It's Sunday again! And daylight savings, which has tripped me up and then also kicked me, but whatever. I'm excited to read everyone's posts later, though I haven't yet because I've actually been writing (!!!) and moreover, writing the right thing (!!!!).

So here are some samplings from the final chapter of Musical Chairs, which probably will not be ready by my arbitrarily chosen date of March 15th, but hopefully will be ready by...April.

First, Baz.

And the contrast between the couples he was envying sent him right back into a bitter spiral, because clearly his standards were anything at all, please lord someone love me. Whatever part of his brain had been responsible for pressing RSVP on this event, Baz would be isolating it and burning it at the stake. “We’re still winning, then,” Baz observed, because he was fucking losing.

And Simon.

Simon was, quite suddenly, about to fucking lose it. He wanted things from him. Like attention and companionship and full frontal contact. Who the fuck was this guy. Where had he been. Simon was, actually, awash in a furious sense of injustice over it, because Agatha had known Baz existed in this world. Every second she'd spent acting like Simon’s best mate, and she hadn’t told him, hadn’t warned him this man was just out there, walking around, not being appreciated.

After episode 3 I’m struggling to see how they’re ever going to do Lestat any kind of justice. They just really don’t seem to like the guy.

sigh. okay.

i don't want to start shit because at the end of the day i know lestat is precious to people and they have waited years to see an adaption with this much content. that being said, i gotta be real with y'all. (and i LOVE lestat- he's my second favorite character after louis). i don't really see how louis and now armand telling their own version of how things happened with lestat (and an EXTREMELY ABRIDGED VERSION for armand) is equivalent to the writers hating lestat and not giving him any sort of justice. the "justice" for lestat doesn't even come up until TVL when he's like "okay here is why i did the things that i did." and even then, lestat does not sit there and DENY EVERYTHING louis said?

yes, louis, and YES, armand are going to tell a tale that might not be 100% accurate to lestat's version of things. or claudia's version of things. or some random coven member's version of things. ESPECIALLY armand- he didn't want louis to even do the interview. he's protecting himself and louis from daniel's future book. he's already contradicting himself and daniel basically calls him out on it. "that's it?" we're not supposed to listen to armand's 15 min story and go "okay that's law then!" and if people DO do that and it makes you anxious, i'm really sorry because that honestly does suck. but you gotta just let them have their own journey with the show. 😂

i'm ranting because i think it gets dangerous when i see comments that basically make it sound like lestat's some defenseless baby and that armand's characterization of him is DEAD WRONG. it's probably not. armand's just not including some things- most likely not including that he acted a bit cuckoo around lestat. one specific example of armand twisting things: WE KNOW lestat didn't just up and leave nicki. we know there is more to the story there.

i know it's easy to get in your own head and worry about writers (i've been fucked over MANY times by tv shows so i get it lol), but let's just let the season play out. we're on episode 3.
