HC: The brothers as KPop Stans
I have an itch to scratch.
Purely self-indulgent headcanons that sprung from the thought of Asmo dancing to HyunA like yes king serve it up
DISCLAIMER: All are fully fluffy/SFW except for Satan’s which is mildly suggestive.
LUCIFER:
Not a fan AT ALL. Finds it too loud and flashy & cannot understand why so many humans are infatuated by it
Gets wee woo by pristin stuck in his head and is FURIOUS about it
You’ll be hanging around in his room while he works, scrolling through your D.D.D when you hear him breathe out a deep little “we are pristin...” followed by a painfully disgruntled groan of annoyance. You try so hard not to laugh and fail.
Might end up occasionally listening to acoustic / orchestral covers and arrangements of some of your favourite songs so he can try and connect with you / understand your interests.
If you forced him to pick, Fave singers / groups would be AKMU, IU and Hwasa (The instrumentals aren’t really his style but he finds her singing style / voice soothing and also she’s... gorgeous wow...)
MAMMON:
Yeah the music’s fine and all but people are paying $50 for Photocards!?!?!?
One of those people that buys like, 200 albums to get into a fansign, only to sell off the fansign ticket for an extortionate price
I fully believe that Mammon would like to visit MC’s room whenever he’s stressed out or overwhelmed, and they’d just sit and listen to music together - maybe subtly dancing along with their shoulders or tapping their feet but mostly just silently enjoying each other’s presence
You’re doing that one day when he tells you to play “That one song he likes”. You immediately know it’s ‘HYLT’ by Blackpink
Probably in love with the flashy MV’s, every time he sees a new model of car in the background he wants to buy one for himself
Fave groups would be BLACKPINK, BTS and EXO
LEVIATHAN:
100% in love with cutesy girlgroups
Will listen to Twice’s ‘candy pop’ on a loop for 12 hours straight because it’s so precious and bubbly and the girls are so cute??? plus he can pretend they’re still 2D waifus that way
Walks into your room to show you the new lightstick he just ordered, only to see you practicing the choreography to ‘cheer up’. Immediately flares up in a blush and BOLTS out at record speed
Please don’t dance around him his little weeb heart can’t take it
Every time he gets into a new group, it only takes him about a week before he’s fully memorised their online profiles and knows every single fanchant
Might get a little upset if you compliment an idols looks/visuals/talents because he’ll start comparing himself to them, says things like “W-Why would you be interested in me?? I’m not exactly Jungkook now am I???”. He knows it’s hypocritical with how overly invested he gets in idols but he is the avatar of envy after all, it can’t really be helped
Fave groups would be TWICE, K/DA (not his music style but pretty 2D catgirl makes his brain go brrrr) and Weeekly
SATAN:
You’re sat in the living room watching KPop MV’s, he walks past you and just so happens to see the AOA ‘Like a Cat’ MV on your D.D.D
You’ve successfully piqued his interest
Would ask you lots of questions about the industry, different groups, what you like about it etc..
Would do a lot of research into significant figures of the genre and probably knows every single detail about KPop Slave Contracts, if he’s feeling argumentative might ask how you can enjoy a form of media that treats its artists so badly
Any group with a jazz / sultry aspect is immediately going in his playlist. I know a lot of people put Satan down as a metal-lover and while I fully agree, I could also see him appreciating some nice brass music now and then.
Will never stop pestering you to dance to ‘Like A Cat’. From the first glance all he could imagine was you dancing to it in their stage outfits and... wow.
Fave groups would be AOA, Mamamoo and EXID
ASMODEUS:
Absolutely 100% a KPop stan. He finds the experimental fashion, showy choreography and grandeur aesthetics so enticing and it’s 100% his style.
I HC Asmo as a big big dance fan, I think he’d adore how it can be dainty, strong or elusive fully depending on the way you perform it. He probably already knows tango, salsa, pole dancing and ballet and spends a bunch of his free time learning his favourite choreographies (the main ones being Chungha’s ‘gotta go’, EXO’s ‘Love shot’, Red Velvet’s ‘bad boy’ and HyunA’s ‘how’s this’ or ‘Lip & Hip’)
Diavolo decides to hold a Devildom talent show at the end of the semester to celebrate the exchange program going well. Asmo IMMEDIATELY calls you asking you to perform ‘Naughty’ by Irene & Seulgi with him. You both rehearse it in secret and fully tear up the stage when the talent show rolls around. You win, which he fully expected, and leave the brothers in a mix of confusion, adoration and embarrassment.
Thirsts over the idols as if his life depends on it. The prettiest idols for him to look at and fantasize about are BTS’ V, Weki Meki’s Doyeon (Only in the stuff she performed as an adult post-IOI), EXO’s Suho, (G)I-DLE’S Soojin and SNSD’s Tiffany
Fave groups would be: Every Single SM Group he’s such a whipped SM Stan
Red Velvet are all beautiful, SHINee’s vocals are delicious, EXO’s discography is... the perfect level of lewd for him, F(x)’s unique style is beautiful and WOW Luna’s solo work is just his style, but his most most loved SM group is Girl’s Generation and he will NOT hesitate to bust into a fully rehearsed performance as soon as he hears ‘the boys’ on your playlist.
BEELZEBUB:
Has never heard of KPop before you introduce it to him. You were both cuddling together in his room while he snacked on the gummies you’d bought him, listening to you excitedly ramble about this new KPop group that you thought he’d like!
A die-hard metalhead, can’t enjoy any music that doesn’t hurt his ears a little bit, so he’s already mentally preparing how he’ll pretend to like it and is just grateful that you were thinking of him, when suddenly his eyes are met with Dreamcatcher’s ‘Chase Me’ MV
And wow. Wow. This isn’t what he was expecting at all. Electric guitar? drums?... NOT bubblegum pop?
Doesn’t become a major fan but definitely adds a lot of the heavier songs from their discography to his gym playlist, still happily listens to your excited ramblings and talks about other groups, but will probably pay a bit more attention if you mention a Dreamcatcher comeback.
Fave groups: Exclusively Dreamcatcher, but also likes ‘Clap’ by seventeen as an exception since he finds the guitar riff mixed into the instrumental cool.
BELPHEGOR:
Not interested. Similarly to Lucifer finds it too loud, too bright and too in-your-face
Not a huge music lover in general, but can tolerate some easy-on-the-ears gentle songs. Has a soft spot for Melanie Martinez & Lo-Fi.
You can try all you want to convince him to enjoy it, show him whatever cutesy MV’s you want, as many live stages or variety shows as possible, even the sweetest most gentle kdrama OST, he’s not interested.
You send him ‘ZZZ’ by LimeSoda jokingly and tell him it’s his theme-song, he’s not amused.
Fave groups: None.
Songs he’ll tolerate if you’re listening to them: Pporappippam - Sunmi, Why So Lonely - Wonder Girls, Butterfly - LOONA, Night Rather Than Day - EXID, Kazino - BiBi

And then I found You
Pairing: Itaru x Reader Pronouns: written in 2nd person, remains gender neutral A/N: “this was supposed to be a short drabble,” I whisper after more than 7 paragraphs. But yeah, I had a lot of fun with this one (even if it ended angstier than intended....again;;) and I might revisit this AU again in the future to expand on it. Thank you for requesting and I hope you enjoy it!
🎵 Song: Once in a Lifetime by Tiffany 🎵
Tumblr media
It’s not that Itaru didn’t believe in soulmates. He knew that the timers on their wrists that counted down until D-Day were an established fact. The sky was blue, the sun rose from the west and one day he would meet the person he was supposed to spend the rest of his life with. No, he knew that’s what would most likely happen, and when his eyes had been brighter and his hopes had been higher, he had thought that it was a perfect arrangement. The universe had a person in mind that would be perfect for him? It sounded like a pretty sweet deal on his book. But his rose-coloured view turned grey fairly early in his life.
It was his parents' divorce when he was twelve; it was his then-friend cheating on his girlfriend when he was 16; it was the girls and guys who even after taking a peek at his timer still tried to flirt with him when he was 19; it was the old ladies at his office whispering behind his back and shaking their heads as they said he would finally be complete once he met his soulmate when he was 25. “Complete”, he slowly grew to resent that word. Not only because it implied that he wasn’t his own person, but also because if soulmates were so great, so infallible, then what explanation was there for all the heartbreak he had come to witness throughout his life? Even though they existed, Itaru believed that the connection everyone praised so much was more at home in his games and anime than in real life.
Some people might call his line of thinking jaded, but he called it “realistic”. Because of that, he saw his timer’s countdown with no more than a slight purse on his lips. He woulnd’t deny the small sense of anticipation he felt, but the excitement that had been present in his younger days just wasn’t there anymore. Even after you two officially met -having bumped into each other on the street-, he still couldn’t shake the scepticism that clung to him like a wet blanket. In fact, that feeling only grew. You were nice, don’t get him wrong, but he couldn’t understand what exactly made you two a perfect match. It’s not that you didn’t get along well, but your personalities were distinctively different. He just didn’t get what made this connection so special. In the beginning, at least.
The more you spent together, the more Itaru came to realise what was the problem with the soulmate system, at least in his eyes. It had become such a certainty, such an unspoken norm in life that everyone just expected their relationships to work out right off the bat. But reality wasn’t so simple. The soulmate connection was real, and it did direct you towards the person you would be most compatible with, but there was more to it. Just like any relationship, soulmates needed to be patient and persistent, they needed to be open to try and understand what the other person thought and felt. The bond wouldn’t magically fix your problems if you were unwilling to compromise and work together.
For you guys, it started small. You had been much more open to deepening your connection than he had been, so you proposed that you meet up once a week to get to know each other better. He had agreed, and the first couple of reunions happened at café since you both considered them neutral places. After a few weeks, you then proposed to take each other to places you frequented to share your likes and dislikes, You took him to a book café and a cat café and he took you to the arcade and to game bars. At first he hadn't been too keen about having to go out so much, but it didn’t take him long to find himself anticipating your little outings.
Slowly but surely, he had started to fall for the small things you did. It was the way you listened to him rant about his nosy coworkers, and the way you didn’t judge him at all once you found out about his gaming habits and his “real” personality”, and the look of concentration on your face when you were trying out a new game he recommended. And later, he also found the charm in the way your eyes lit up when talking about your favourite novels and the way your smile would widen when a small kitten would brush up against your leg, and possibly his favourite thing of all: the fond look in your eyes whenever you kept up with his banter or laughed at his stupid jokes.
“I can’t believe we had to sit through all of that,” he groaned as you entered your flat. That company party had been so dreadful he would rather take on the boss battle he struggled for five hours on merciless difficulty again.
“You poor thing,” he could hear the mirth in your tone and that only made him pout more. At that, you reached up to place a kiss on his cheek before turning away and walking towards your shared room. “C’mon, I’ll let you use my account to see if you can get your waifu using my gems this time around.”
“That might have been the sexiest thing you’ve ever said to me,” he called out with a twinkle in his eyes, and his pout turned into a grin once your laugher reached his ears.
Sure, your relationship wasn’t perfect, but he couldn't remember the last time he had felt so at peace with himself. It wasn’t that you completed him; you complimented him in a way no one ever had before. Thinking that he might have never known you if it hadn’t been for the soulmate system made him, for the first time since he was a child, grateful beyond belief. He knew that you two would find bumps along the way and that your days wouldn’t be sunny all the time, but that didn’t matter. You were his once in a lifetime, a limited UR that was tailored just for him, and he knew would do anything to make sure he didn’t waste this opportunity.

Send me a 🎵 + a character name and I’ll press shuffle on my playlist to write a short drabble based on it  (These are closed until I finished the ones I have on the askbox)

Top 10 Mahou Shoujo Shows for Babies (Part 1)
I’ll be the first person to admit, getting into Mahou Shoujo is hard.
With the lacking amount of accessible critique and over the top presentation shows of the genre adopt,
It can be genuinely uninviting for many anime fans to get a foot in the door that is Magical Girl.
After my last video, I received a handful of comments asking about what I’d recommend as great gateway shows for a newbie.
While a recommendations list is all good and well, giving context to why these shows are worth your time is what i’m more interested in talking about today.
Before getting into the list I’d like to clarify that the choice being presented arnt tiered based on quality nor personal preference.
Some of these shows I love more than others and others not so much; However when recommending shows to try in a sub genre like Mahou shoujo, I find it counterproductive to introduce ratings when breaking down audience bias.
Also I’m judging the viability of these shows on their first five episodes, maybe a few chapters of the manga.
With that out of the way, let's get into the first section….
Kill la Kill
In a world where facism has taken hold of Japanese government, scissor blade wielding badass Ryuko Matoi is on a quest to avenge the death of her father. This brings her to Honnouji Academy, a school run by the iron fist of Satsuki Kiryuin.
For the sake of finding her father’s murderer, Ryuko must demonstrate pride in her body and fighting spirit with the help of a bloodthirsty seifuku known as Senketsu.
Let's say you made a magical cheesecake. Amongst the common choices, of strawberries, banana and cherries you dig through and find the tangy lemon that is Hiroyuki Imaishi’s Kill la Kill.
Trigger has done some fantastic work in its six years as a studio, revolutionizing modern anime as we know it.
However what I never hear ANYBODY talk about is how Imaishi and co.’s work has pushed the concept of the Magical Girl.Kill La kill is a bombastic, stylish addition to the genre and a fantastic entry point for introducing others to Mahou Shoujo.
It has a really fresh, fun take on the Magical warrior, in its most literal form. The use of a mascot character being the transformation item is rare enough, but including symbiote-esc elements to the costume as a whole is something i’ve never really seen done outside of comic books stateside.
While some may critique the shows use of “Fanservice” to be pandering or perverted, I don't think it should be a roadblock in trying KLK out. Most of the nudity presented serves into a message about confidence and having pride in who you are.
It's not trite BS like what you see in Queens Blade or (shudder) Master of Martial Hearts.
If you’re trying to get your little brother or a friend to try Mahou shoujo without having to preface starting crunchyroll with a disclaimer- about how your a real man, throw this on with a bowl of popcorn and a pitcher of lemonade. You’ll have a blast.
Shugo Chara
Amu Himamori is, for all intensive purposes, popular.
Or is she feared?
The “Cool and Spicy” character surrounding Amu pervades the relationships she tries to make with others.
Despite her crushingly shy nature, classmates interpret everything she does in a rebellious lense, perpetuating rumors without making the effort to get to know Amu outside of her reputation.
But in a miraculous turn of events, she is given the chance to rectify her social standing with the blessing of three strange eggs known as Chara, portions of Amu’s buried personality that act as guardian angels.
Originally watching the show while airing in 2008, I can say that Shugo Chara is a contender with the likes of Pretty Cure when it comes to presentation. I’m surprised I don't hear more people talk about the series to be honest.
Transformation sequences are minimal but catch the eye.
The concept of having multiple characters to change in and out of when needed lends to keeping the audience guessing, especially when paired transformations with new Chara come into play.
In combination, Peach-Pits colorful art design and Kenji Yasuda’s directing kept me glued to the screen.
While the shows premise isn't horribly original, Shugo chara stands out for it’s “heart on it’s sleeve” approach to character development.
Overall Shugo Chara has a very child friendly plot while addressing overlooked themes in most bishoujo.
Panty and Stocking With Garterbelt
Keeping this one nice and sweet as i’ve already mentioned Hiroyuki Imaishis contribution to the genre with Kill La Kill.
If you want to test your expectation or others of Mahou Shoujo while indulging in some vulgar toilet humor, then Panty and Stocking is worth checking out.
While shows like this may not be everyone's cup of tea, Gainax has definitely cranked out a fantastic parody addressing the more sexual undercurrents usually glossed over in Magical warrior.
You don't see many studios that have the confidence to implement pole dancing into their transformation sequences.
Atsushi Nishigori, Masahiko Otsuka, Yoh Yoshinari- Shit even my girl Sayo Yamamoto is here. With the diversity in staff, you’re bound to find something you like whether its the experimental realism in “Vomiting Point” or a saving private ryan homage with sperm ghosts in “Pulp Addiction”.
As someone who's watched all of Panty and Stocking through in both Japanese and English; I’d highly recommend the dub.
Not only does it help jokes stick but stays really close to the original intent while implementing some Adult Swim level humor.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably be swept away by the shows poppy, powerpuff girl-esc art and Teddyloid’s contributions to the OST, introducing punchy playlist worthy electronica. Just don't listen to it with your mom or anything.
Cardcaptor Sakura
Sakura Kinamoto is your typical fourth grader.
She's outgoing, participates in sports at school and is beloved by her fellow classmates.
One day, when returning from class Sakura hears a strange sound from her father’s study. Investigating the bookshelves, she opens a strange tome containing “Clow Cards”,
a magicians tarot deck imbued with the powers of aspected spirits.
However, with a gust of wind the cards are lost and with the help of the books guardian, Kero- Sakura must recollect the deck and discover her true self.
Cardcaptor Sakura is by far one of the least abrasive gateways into long form Magical Warrior.
I’m 20 episodes into the series and while I know I dont have the free time to watch another 50 I kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnddddddddddaaaaaaaaa dont careeeeeee?
The scenery is beautiful, pacing is mellow and everybody, whether it be top tier camcorder waifu Tomoyo to the cuckoo lander childhood crush Yukito will find a way to melt your heart.
When others talk about the typicality of magical girls, I find that Sakura presents many unorthodox takes on commonalities to the subgenre.
The show doesn't have transformation sequences, but rather invests its runtime on  inventive fight scenes and dynamic character development.
On the Manga side the series is much more compact read, with about 12 volumes not including the newly announced Clear Card Arc. Mokona and gangs luxurious, carefully laid linework are in the forefront, taking a less hi-scifi approach than their other titles.
When it comes to wholesome, genuine Mahou Shoujo- Cardcaptor Sakura is a great series to snuggle into a blanket and watch with a friend.
Sailor Moon
YOU DON'T NEED A PLOT SYNOPSIS FOR THE DRAGON BALL Z OF MAHOU SHOUJO. IF YOU DO, YOU’RE EITHER LIVING UNDER A ROCK OR TOO YOUNG TO BE ON THIS SITE. FUCK.
Yes, the Dic dub is borderline horrible if you didn't grow up with it and the shows a popular prototype for what we now consider the Magical warrior, which for some is pretty stock. BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT ISN'T FANTASTIC AND WORTH THE BINGE.
As far as Magical Warrior goes, Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon is a staple introduction to modern Mahou Shoujo.
While early sections of the series do contain buckets of filler, the show makes up for it with a lovable, diverse cast, Beautiful transformations and a fun premise.
Season three alone, Sailor Moon S is arguably one of the best installments in the genre and worth every second of your time as it showcases director Kunihiko Ikuhara, of Utena and Mawaru Penguindrum fame.
The story is nothing too crazy mind you; but if you’re interested in Sailor Moon manga-wise, Naoko Takeuchi’s illustrations are TO DIE FOR, drawn with meticulous detail and colored with a mixture of ink and translucent watercolors.
Look i’ll even make it easier; because I have no life and completed the show six times. A month or so ago I put together a “Abridged Viewing Guide” for people wanting to cut out useless filler so if you’re interested the link will be in the description.
Sailor Moon broke ground in the 90’s for what is now considered a “typical magical girl”. Truly, You would be doing yourself a disservice passing the series up.
