Policing Memories of
Garry Crawford Circa 1962
Part XXI
Promotional Competition
Corporal to Sergeant 1978
Sometime in the latter part of 1978 the Ontario Provincial Police announced that there would be a promotional process for those seeking a promotion from Corporal to Sergeant. I had really enjoyed my time at Wawa Detachment and in many ways thought I could spend the rest of my life there, however at the same time I realized I needed more of a challenge. I decided to put all of my efforts into obtaining a promotion and hopefully receiving a position as a Detachment Commander. The promotional process consisted of three parts. First you had to get a positive assessment from your immediate superiors and District Headquarters. Second you had to pass an examination, and third you appeared before a 5-man board following which you would either receive a pass or fail. Prior exams had been based mainly on policing knowledge and knowledge in general.
The documentation that followed the announcement advised that the promotional process involving an exam would be different in that those that elected to compete would be given a number of books to study for a period ;of a couple of months. The examination would take place with the questions based on the material given to us. It would be necessary to answer each question in essay form.
The above information was an eye opening experience for me as I only had a minimum of grade ten educations when I joined the Ontario Provincial Police force. My High School education had ended 25 years prior. I prepared a study room in one of the unused bedrooms of our home. I then made an appointment with one of the English teachers at the Michipicoten High School. On meeting with him I told him of my situation and asked him to tell me how to build or write an essay. He was most helpful and I still have a basic drawing he used to explain to me how to build an essay.
The next thing I did was sit down in my study room and list all the means I could think of to remember something. Basically it was a simple list of one’s senses and how to use or stimulate them. I gathered together sufficient writing paper, a comfortable chair, desk lamp, tape recorder and pens and pencils.
When the books finally arrived, I found them to be mainly on Psychology. I had to start right at the beginning, as I was not even sure, how to spell Psychology. Most of the material was to do with leadership styles, theories and hierarchy of needs as written by Peter Drucker and Abraham Maslow. I processed much of the material by rote, by writing, reading, taping etc. I would go to my study room whenever I came home from work, would work at it until I was called for mealtime. At night I would remain in the room until 11 or 12. Then go to bed with the tape player plugged into my ear playing what I had recorded, until I fell asleep. I continued this for the full two months, including weekends and days off. I know my children and spouse were ready for a break when I finished.
The day of the examination finally arrived and there were thirty of us wrote. If my memory is correct it was a couple of months before the results were finally sent out. There were only two of us that passed.
I believe it was sometime in the next month or so I was required to go down to Blind River where I was given an aptitude assessment by a Force Psychologist.
The next phase of the process required me to appear before a five-man board made up of senior officers. This was to be held at Sault Ste Marie District Headquarters. My luck changed at this point as I came down with a severe case of the flu. I managed to get back to work the day before the date of the scheduled board attendance. I called to District Headquarters to confirm that I would attend as instructed and spoke to Inspector King Speicher. King Speicher was without a doubt the best counselor that I ever spoke to on the OPP. I had counseled with him in the past and was always amazed when I had found an answer to my problem. He never gave you an answer; he would just listen and ask questions. He would let you find the answer. When I told him about being off work for the better part of a week with the flu. He advised me to not appear at the Sault Ste Marie. He said you have just got out of sick bed you wont be at your best. They will have another board sitting at a later date. I was anxious to get the board over with, but heeded his advice and did not appear at the Soo.
I received word a little over a month later that I was to appear before the board at Kenora District Headquarters. On the appointed date I took a flight from Sault Ste Marie to Thunderbay to Dryden in a 737 type aircraft. At Dryden I changed to a smaller Twin Otter for the flight to Kenora. On my arrival at Kenora the Detachment Commander advised me that I was scheduled to appear before the board in 45 minutes. I was to appear in dress uniform. I considered pushing the panic button at this point, as I had travelled with my sam brown belt and hardware in my suitcase and my uniform in a clothes bag. They had transferred my suitcase at Dryden but not my clothes bag; it had travelled on to Winnipeg. I was reminded I was in the north. I arrived as a stranger in Kenora, but when I explained my predicament to the duty Sergeant, he jumped into full gear. They outfitted me with one of their members dress uniforms almost immediately. I was hurried but was dressed and I thought ready to take on the board within the allotted time.
To appear before the five-man board you knock on the door, when you are invited into the room, you march in briskly salute and come to attention. You stand in that manner until you are invited to sit down in a chair. Sitting in the chair you are facing the five superior officers who are seated behind a table facing you. They usually question you one at a time as to how you would deal with various scenarios. We usually refer to it as the hot seat.
In my case I knocked on the door was invited in, I marched in briskly, came to attention and saluted. The first words spoken were out of the mouth of a particular Chief Superintendent from Toronto. He said: Corporal your belt buckle is improperly presented. He was right. I requested permission to be seated. I was instructed to do so. I sat down pulled up my pant legs so they could clearly see my socks and said: Gentlemen I may as well confess! I told them my story as to what had happened to my uniform and how with the assistance of the local Detachment and with much haste I had arrived before them. In my rush to get ready I had not completed the full attachment of the belt buckle on my Sam Brown. I had lost my dark socks in the transfer and was wearing a pair of bright green plaid socks. They seemed to accept my explanation for those errors then started one by one throwing different scenarios at me and asking me how I would deal with them. I found these pretty basic, as I had been acting Detachment Commander on many occasions. When you gave an answer to the scenario they had presented. They would try to get you to change your mind by adding additional information to their scenario. If that information changed the circumstances to such a degree it warranted a different answer I would change my solution. In most cases I remained with my original answer. On completion of my board examination I returned to Wawa without further problems.
I should mention that one thing I learned during my time in Wawa and Hornpayne, was one should not hesitate if offered a Northern Posting. The people, members and work in general will be an eye opening experience that you will never regret or forget.
I believe it was a couple of months later that I learned I had been successful in all phases of the promotional process and that my name would be placed on an eligibility list for promotion to Sergeant. It was only a month or so later that I received a phone call from Deputy Commissioner Bill Lidstone. I was at work when I received the call. He was quite happy to advise me that I was being offered Niagara Falls Detachment. He asked me to have a talk with my wife and let him know in a couple of days if I wished to accept it. I thanked him very much for the offer, but advised him I wished to decline the offer, as it was a little further south than I wished to go. He seemed rather perturbed by my answer. In thinking back I realized I was lucky I was not sent to the very far north. Like Ellsmere Island. At any rate, about a month later I received documentation saying I would be promoted effective the 25 March 1980 and posted as Detachment Commander at Bala Detachment in the District of Muskoka.
It was less than five years later that the OPP did away with the Corporal’s Rank and made all Corporal’s automatically Sergeant’s. I never did quite figure out the reason for this and felt the force lost something in the process. By that time I had been promoted to Staff Sergeant and those that had been Sergeant’s were promoted to the first level of Staff Sergeant.
I am attaching a photograph that was taken at our home in Wawa. It reminds me of one of the many fun times we had there. I believe it was the Wawa Legion, who use to fly in a crates of live Lobsters every year and we could have a Lobster feast. Pictured here is our son Kim on my right and Shawn on my left.

I was talking about this idea.
i want to write a sitcom. and I did love the idea of a group of 35-50ies being a cast of accidental RPG heroes cause the world got messed up:
Name: Abdul Nashirudeen (Professor, MBA, has a doctorate in Childhood education)
Occupation: Headmaster of a Canadian boarding school based on the British system
Height: 5’9
Weight 200 lbs
Has a HORRIBLE beard moustache combo. (Seriously it REALLY doesn’t work together and it was worse when he had the dreadlocks. Massive dorky dad vibes.)
Started at Lake Ontario Prep when his wife got a job there. She left to go back to school next term in Wawa. He didn’t mean to become a headmaster but it happened. He’s not exactly super stoked to be away from his partner but is happy to do so. When the school shut down he was delighted. Going on the quest doubly so - they’re so taking a detour to see his wife!
Happens to be the team’s resident black mage. He also finds this amusing. He’s a Black black mage. GET IT?
Name: O Negative (her real name is Eileen Martin)
Occupation: Metal guitarist and vocalist
Height: 5’2
Weight: 110 lbs
Her voice reaches scary decibels and it’s her final attack Was a member (lead singer) of popular band ‘Your Mum Fucked Your Dad’ (“What is something gross we can name our band that will skeeve people out?” “Your mum fucked yer dad to have you.” “That’s not….oh yeah, that’s super gross.” “And true.” “Ew. Perfect.”) and went out when the monsters started and she was the only one who came back alive. Saddened, she went out to avenge her bandmates. For Charity.
Team Bard! Ya fuckers. Sorry about saying fuckers. Low blood sugar.
Yasunori Hideo
Occupation: Surgical Medical Professional (MD)
Height: 5’4
Weight 112 lbs
He is the boyfriend of Norma Dell. May be the prettiest guy in the world. He doesn’t want to hear it shush. His girlfriend’s proud.
Met Norma and married her when she came to Japan on a scholarship for her program. Absolutely enraged that his whole career was turned upside down. Like some people say stupid words and suddenly things get fixed? What is THAT about?
Is the team’s heavy hitter - and hates it. He’s a literal doctor - how is HE not the white mage? The Healer? However a knowledge of what can do damage has given him a very good idea of how to do damage. And he’s a little mad. Angry, not crazy.
Name: Norma Dell (Dead name - be cool, don’t pry. God there is the most amazing super secret side quest idea here isn’t there...where NO ONE ACTUALLY LEARNS HER DEAD NAME! Somehow. Maybe because natural dialogue often doesn’t require a name or pronouns when you’re talking directly to a person. There’s something here.)
Occupation: Nurse Practitioner
Height: 4’11 Weight: 150 lbs Girlfriend to Yasu. Has some (unwarranted) issues with physical insecurities
Met her husband on a Japanese exchange student program and intended to bring her new beau back to meet her parents. They were eaten by a bugbear but on the upside she also didn’t have to explain her top surgery or the fact she was into a guy. She feels bad for Yasu but is probably the most down to earth person out of the group. Talent for reading a room has lead to something like what we’d call a Blue Mage. Learns and can use enemy attacks. Plus good comedy value when those attacks seem impossible for a tiny woman. The best day ever for the whole party was watching a 4’11 girl body slam a dragon or some noise.I mean that’s gotta be good entertainment.
Name: Orinda Jones
Occupation: Literature Language PhD
Height: 5’5
Weight: 130 lbs
Did NOT notice the large cluster of magic (and not what you’re thinking) mushrooms she accidentally started growing under the grad studies lounge desk while writing translations for old English bestiaries.
That was an accident. Honestly she’s very sorry she did that but also wants to help people. This power helps people and she likes that. And bro if you get mad at her for that it’s a bit racist. Maybe.
Is racist the right word? Classist? Litmajorist? What’s the big idea gettin’ mad at the lit majors?
It’s something and stop it, she’s here to help. She’s the team white mage

In which a New Geographic Nomenclature for Ontario is suggested as an Opiate for the Scourge of Torontocentrism
Some of us Ontario residents enjoy life outside that small and most southerly portion of the Province of Ontario where a large number of ill advised residents live. They dwell in the path of successive storms that track from the southwest along the trend of the Appalachians, in the zone of lake-effect snows from northwestern air masses crossing the Great Lakes and, at other times, sweat in the oppressive heat and humidity of air creeping over the region from the west. Their bubble is tiny and crowded and deeply affected by the geographic ignorance syndrome known as “Torontocentrism”.
Those who suffer this malady are blissfully ignorant of the geography of any part of the Province lying more than a little north of Toronto, though thousands do submit to the summer weekend traffic snarls to spend a night or two in “cottage country”, which most of them perceive as an adventure to the edge of the known world, a transitional area between “civilization” and that which is “beyond the pale” that is daringly referred to as “Northern Ontario”, even though it lies within 300km of downtown Toronto.
Their world is small, largely confined to “Central Ontario” which is very loosely described as that area between Georgian Bay and the eastern end of Lake Ontario. The cities of London and Windsor, in their minds, lie in “South Western Ontario”, and Kingston and Ottawa lie in “Eastern Ontario”. However, similar terminology covers rather different divisions of Southern Ontario, such that real estate and health related divisions are in no way comparable. One thing that is certain, however, is that anything north of Parry Sound, or, indeed, of Barrie, is “Northern” and, as is strongly perceived by them, everything gets a lot worse as one ventures into the northern wastelands, even if one carries one’s security blanket.
Maps of Ontario, found in Atlases, are usually in two parts. Most of a double page will display Southern Ontario in all its glory, and an inset map in the corner remains to display the rest, but often not all, of the Province. Those suffering Torontocentrism are not, it seems, well versed in the concept of scale, and so conclude that a day’s drive will land them in Kenora, or even Winnipeg, for the night. Small motels between Wawa and Nipigon are accustomed to opening their doors to weary and perplexed Torontonian travellers, somewhat confused by the fact that they have not yet reached the Manitoba border. They would have been advised to consult map software that would have told them that Winnipeg lies just over 2000 km away and, in good road conditions, is an estimated 23 hour drive.
Thunder Bay residents are wearily used to phone calls and posted special offers urging them to frequent stores and services in Toronto. Receiving the offer of a free hearing test by CARP, the Canadian Association of Retired Persons, with Head Offices in Toronto, one discovers that the company offering this promotion has its most northerly office in the Sault, a mere 700 km drive away, estimated to take 8 hours, each way. Another touch of Torontocentrism. The caller from the Hudson’s Bay Department Store, with Head Offices in Toronto, trying to promote their shopping card, was surprised to learn that Toronto was thought to be rather far away to go shopping, so chirpily pointed out that there was a Bay in Winnipeg, only a 700 km, 8 hour drive, though in the other direction. The company offering to give a free estimate for installing solar panels on residential roofs, with Head Offices in the GTA, was a little confused by the Postal Code stated on the request of a Thunder Bay resident. They had not installed solar panels in any location north of Midland, it seemed. The representative was a little surprised to be informed that Thunder Bay receives a greater number of sunshine hours than does Toronto. The Weather Network banner announces 30 cm of snow due in “Ontario”, but this rough weather will in fact be experience by only that tiny sliver of the Province between Windsor and Ottawa. Their head office is in Oakville. Meanwhile, the rest of the Province basks under clear skies and sunshine.
There is, I believe, an antidote to Torontocentrism, and that is education of the ignorant. However, the ignorant are remarkably resistant to education, their vision blinkered by their malady, their knowledge base impervious to the realities of Canadian geography and their travel experience limited to that which can be reached within a few hours drive of their homes.
The only cure I can suggest is the formal adoption of a new geographic nomenclature for Ontario by no less than the Provincial Government of the Province. Enforced education is perhaps the only effective way of dealing with this deeply ingrained geographic ignorance syndrome.
Let us begin by dealing with the terms “South” and “North”. The latitudinal (south to north) extent of the Province is from Middle Island, part of Point Pelee National Park (41.685°N) to the intersection of the Manitoba border with the shore of Hudson Bay (56.857°N) a span of 15.172°. The latitude marking the bisector of the Province into Southern and Northern halves is thus 49.253°N (Figure 1). The most passed through habitation close to this line is English River (49.216°N), an unincorporated place on the Trans Canada Highway, 189 km and 2 hours drive northwest of Thunder Bay, and worthy of a road sign informing travellers that they are passing from Southern to Northern Ontario or vice versa at this point in their journey.
Figure 1.
However, there is the term “Central” to be clarified also, particularly for those sufferers who are under the misapprehension that they live in “Central Ontario”, but do not. Dividing the latitudinal span of the Province into three equal parts would give us “Southern”, “Central” and “Northern” Ontario, each 5.057° in latitudinal width (Figure 2). By this perfectly logical geographic division, the boundary between Southern Ontario and Central Ontario would lie at 46.742°N. The most easily identified location of this boundary would be where the Trans Canada Highway crosses the Goulais River, 30 km north of Sault Ste. Marie. The Sault, Sudbury and, ironically, North Bay, (despite its name) all lie in Southern Ontario.
Figure 2.
Thunder Bay, population 110,172 (48.381°N, 89.247°W), which lies south of the 49th parallel and thus south of all of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, is the largest city of Central Ontario and the major service city for both Central and Northern Ontario. Interestingly, Nipigon (49.016°N), 117 km to the east, on the Trans Canada Highway, is just north of this significant parallel, a fact which should be heralded by an informative road sign telling travellers from Southern Ontario that they have at last reached the southern border of much of the rest of Canada.
The boundary between Central Ontario and North Ontario lies at 51.800°N (Figure 2). Interestingly, the community of Pikangikum lies exactly on this latitude. With a population of 2,300, this community is the largest First Nation community in Northern Ontario, with an estimated 75% of the population below 25 years of age. It will likely come as a shock to those suffering Torontocentrism to be told that the communities of Northern Ontario can only be reached by air in summer and, in some cases, by ice road in the winter months. Note that Moosonee, pop. 1,481 (51.273°N) and Moose Factory (51.262°N) near the mouth of the Moose River, and Ontario’s only saltwater port, both lie within Central Ontario. Note also, the furthest north one can drive in the Province is to Pickle Lake (51.467°N), a 530 km drive north of Thunder Bay. Moosonee can only be reached by a train ride of 360 km from Cochrane (49.065°N), on the Polar Bear Express. Moose Factory, on an island in the Moose River, is reached by boat, and at times in spring and fall, only by helicopter.
One has yet to consider the terms “West” and “East”, both terms used by those suffering Torontocentralism to describe their fairly immediate surroundings. In particular, the use of “Southwestern Ontario” needs to be re-evaluated. Again applying the logic of geography, it needs to be noted that the easternmost Longitude of the Province is a point in the St. Lawrence River, just a fraction further east than Riviere Baudette, Quebec (74.339W) at 74.321°W (bearing in mind that Longitude is measured as degrees west and east of the Prime Meridian which passes through the Royal Observatory, in Greenwich, London, UK.). The westernmost Longitude of Ontario is that coincident with part of the Ontario/Manitoba, at 95.153°W, the longitudinal span of Ontario being 20.832°.
It follows that the mid longitude of Ontario, that divides the Province into equal Eastern and Western parts of 10.416° width, is 84.737°W. This meridian cuts the coast of Hudson Bay just east of the mouth of the Winisk River, passing through Polar Bear Provincial Park. It runs south, passing just to the west of Sault Ste. Marie (84.335°W) and down the Michigan Peninsula, running just to the west of Lansing (84.555°W) (Figure 3).
Figure 3.
This division allows for the terms North Western and North Eastern Ontario, and West Central and East Central Ontario. As indicated previously, Thunder Bay is clearly the dominant city of West Central Ontario, and Timmins, pop 41,788 (48.475°W, 81.330°W) can claim to be the most significant community in East Central Ontario. Understandably, Toronto, pop. 2.93 million (43.6532° N, 79.3832° W) is the dominant city of South Eastern Ontario. However, there is no South Western sextant of Ontario, primarily because the Province extends not only north of Toronto but considerably to the west, a fact unrecognized by sufferers of Torontocentrism. Windsor (83.03°W) can best be described as situated at the far western end of South Eastern Ontario.
One more detail needs to be considered within this opiate package of factual information, and that concerns the location of the centre of the Province of Ontario, that is the geographical centre as distinct from Toronto which Torontocentrism sufferers appear to believe is the centre of everything. Having identified the mid latitude as 49.253°N and the mid longitude or meridian as 84.737°W, the centre of the Province is where these two lines intersect (Figure 4).
Figure 4.
That point lies a little west of the shore of St. Onge’s Lake, a little known small body of water a few kilometres north and east of Hornepayne, pop. 980 (49.2122° N, 84.7714° W) in Central Ontario (Figure 5). Hornepayne lies in the country between the Trans Canada Highway and Highway 11 (“the Northern route”), on Highway 631, which joins the two main routes, running north from White River, pop. 645 (48.5940° N, 85.2748° W). Hornepayne deserves recognition as the community at the centre (almost) of the Province of Ontario.
Figure 5.
So, I have presented above, a logical geographic nomenclature for the location of regions and places in the Province of Ontario, a sturdy and defensible replacement for the truly laughable terminology in use by those who suffer the geographic ignorance syndrome of Torontocentralism. It is one that I believe should be adopted by the Government of Ontario, forthwith.
I rest my case.

Will this progressive insurance claim raise my rates?
So I was driving along the turnpike here in Oklahoma the other day when I noticed a vibration I was pushing 70mph at the most in my 1998 ford ranger when i noticed this. my truck was valued by the claims adjuster at $5800 As the vibration continued I pulled over and slowed down right then I noticed and felt my tire tread from the rear drivers side fly out and do some damage to the bed the tire still had air in it but when i got out to look my tread had flown completely off along with some other truck pieces. The adjuster said more then likely the belt slipped or snapped or something along those lines the damage total was $2,695.00 less my $500.0 deductible the insurance will pay the remaining balance. it would have totaled out had the repair cost more the 50% of the value of the truck. Now my question will be tricky to answer because everyone has a different driving record I haven't filed a claim sense 2004 I hit a car ! guilty I have had speeding tickets but not sense 2007 I had one guy try and file a claim against me in 2008 he said i backed into him but he didn't carry insurance and had no proof and the claim was never paid out so I'm pretty sure my rates will go up come time for renewal I'm just trying to see by how much? can i call progressive would they tell me? do they even know???? I know that a lot of this depends on your claims trend. this is really the only claim I've filed in yrs and the 2nd one in 4 yrs with this company. that first claim never payed out either.. Will my Car Insurance Go up?
ok so im 17, i got my lisence last week.. well like 6 days ago to be exact and we all know winter driving is alot more dangerous than regular driving.. anyways i was driving home from work, and none of the country roads were plowed, as always.. i turned the corner in my moms car (im insured) and the car slid and went right into the ditch at the side of the road, so i called my dad he came and helped me pull the car out, but during that process, the car got stuck up against a wooden street sign and well crushed or indented part of the car right behind right side wheel. and once we finally got the car out, we noticed the alignment of the back axel was completely f**ked. so i drove it home very slowly, cause it was driving horrible from that.. just wondering if we report this to our insurance company what will happen? will my insurance go up? it was a complete accident and no police were involved. i dont know how much the damages will cost but im sure its not too cheap.. maybe a complete writeoff? the car was bought for 10000$ like 4 or 5 years ago. damages are: rear axel and front by right tire. can anyone reply? id just like to get this off my back i dont see how it can be my fault, the city did not have the roads properly plowed.. i know i cant blame it on that but it really was an accident i dont know how i can make it up to my parents, i work part time and goto hgihschool i dont make nearly enough money to pay for the damages they want me to.""

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) is proud to support the upcoming Ontario Special Olympics Winter Games in Sault Ste. Marie by adopting seventeen athletes.
Leading the schools in the Adopt an Athlete program was St. Mary’s College who adopted six athletes. The Sault Ste. Marie elementary schools who collected funds to sponsor an athlete were, Holy Cross, Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Mary’s French Immersion.
Our Lady of Lourdes and Our Lady of Fatima in Elliot Lake each sponsored an athlete as did St. Mary in Massey, Sacred Heart in Espanola and St. Mary’s in Blind River. The board’s four northern schools, St. Joseph French Immersion in Wawa, St. Basil’s in White River, Our Lady of Fatima in Chapleau and Holy Name of Jesus in Hornepayne, combined to sponsor an athlete.
Staff at the board office and HSCDSB trustees also adopted an athlete. “I am very grateful and proud of the support that our students, employees, and trustees have demonstrated to these athletes,” said Rose Burton Spohn, HSCDSB’s Director of Education.
“This commitment is a natural extension of the care, service, and support we offer every day to our students with special needs,” added Burton Spohn.
Today, at the board’s main office in Sault Ste. Marie, representatives of the Special Olympics organizing committee were presented a cheque for $8,517 for the sponsorship of the seventeen athletes.

Six Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario (CSCNO) students will wear Ontario colours at the upcoming Jeux de la francophonie canadienne (Canadian Francophone Games). Some 1,200 students from the 13 Canadian provinces and territories will compete in the Games that are being held in Moncton (New Brunswick) from July 11 to 15. The Canadian Francophone Games are among the largest gatherings of Francophone youth in Canada. In addition to encouraging hundreds of youngsters between the ages of 13 and 18 to exercise their talents in the fields of art, leadership and sports, the Francophone Games will showcase cultural pride, self-confidence and leadership abilities in a friendly competitive setting.
The following CSCNO students were selected for the Ontario team based on criteria of excellence in discipline and commitment to the Francophonie:
Benjamin Houle, ÉSC Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River): volley-ball
Frédéric Houle, ÉSC Jeunesse-Nord (Blind River): badminton
Jérika Lord, ÉS Saint-Joseph (Wawa): soccer

“Our youngsters have a unique opportunity to participate in a top-level cultural and identity gathering. Being able to meet and exchange with Francophones from across the country will enable them to discover the richness of Canada’s Francophone population,” explained CSCNO Director of Education, Mrs. Lyse-Anne Papineau. “The Jeux de la francophonie will provide our students with skill sets they can use to continue to assume leadership roles in our French language Catholic schools and in their community
