For many months now, my main productive procrastination method for when I really should be writing the next chapter of Quiet in the Jet Black (watchesverse 2) has been to draw a poster for Through All the Watches of the Night (watchesverse 1). Except now I've finished that, so I gotta come up with a new watchesverse art project.

Tech has his datapad out and Echo can just make out his eyes, narrowed in confusion as he taps furiously on the screen. ‘That’s not good,’ Tech says finally.

‘What’s wrong?’ Payt asks.

Tech shakes his head. ‘Something is interfering with my scans. I can’t generate a blueprint of the building. We’re going to have to do a blind sweep to find the datacore. If  there is one left to be found,’ he adds with undisguised doubt.

Reckless Driving

‘Can we just... drive?’ Bruce had asked when Clark had opened his apartment door at 2 in the morning. ‘Can we just be us for a while?’

Now, Clark’s thigh burned where Bruce’s hand rested, his thumb rubbing absent circles through the fabric of Clark’s sleep pants. A brief glance at the speedometer had Clark’s stomach swooping as the needle steadily climbed further into the triple-digits. The tension in Bruce’s shoulders conversely seemed to relax the harder he worked the exquisite engine, one hand on the wheel with a casualness that had Clark’s mind summoning visions of half a million dollars’ worth of wreckage and Bruce’s limp body thrown high into the trees that surrounded the road.

They hurtled around a corner, and Clark focused on not gripping the door handle with enough force to do damage.

Clark/bruce/selina/Lois ot4 shenanigans

‘I want to marry Bruce,’ Selina said, and for the first time in her life, Lois saw something like insecurity cross the Catwoman’s face.

‘Is that not going to happen?’ Lois placed her hand on the table between them, stopping short of taking Selina’s hand in a comforting gesture, unsure if it was something the other woman would appreciate.

‘Oh no,’ Selina said, her moment of vulnerability wiped away with a smile. ‘It is - as far as he knows, anyway. The problem isn’t with our relationship, really. It’s your husband.’

Ah. Lois sighed. So that’s what this is about.

Bruce and Clark's summer fling

Bruce allowed himself to be ushered inside, ducking his head slightly to avoid cracking his head on the stoop. At Jia's fussing, he removed his pack and rifled through it to find Jia's order. He looked up when she offered him a threadbare towel. ‘Oh,’ he said. ‘Thank you, Jia, but I am just going to get wet again as I make my rounds.’

Jia glared at him. ‘You are dripping on my floor.’

Bruce went back to searching through his pack. ‘Sorry, I'll be out of your hair in a minute-’

He cut himself off as he heard a deep, ominous rumble.

Maul pays none of it any heed; he leaps the last of the distance, landing in a crouch over Ahsoka’s prone form. The noise he makes  is animalistic, wounded, his teeth bared, both blades of his lightsaber held between them both and the rest of the room like a shield, like a threat.

He’s protecting her, Rex realises.

And the fear that’s freezing every conscious man to the floor is Maul’s, the Force projecting it strongly enough even Rex can feel it.

man trying to come back to writing after [mumble mumble] many months of not writing anything because mental health was in the toilet sucks ass. all my momentum is gone, my stamina is through the floor and I’m just kinda floundering with this next chapter of Quiet in the Jet Black. I’m so determined that I’m gonna finish this one dammit but I didn’t anticipate that coming back to it after writing barely anything for months was going to be so hard.

I’ve nearly finished writing chapter 7 of my Imperial Era Rexoka fic Quiet in the Jet Black and I’ve now got the entire fic (and some potential oneshots for after the fic is finished) all planned out, but my ability to write has been extremely sporadic, and my stamina for writing is still pretty much at an all-time low, so I’m not sure when I’ll start publishing chapters again, or if I’ll stick to a proper schedule when I do eventually get to that stage.

So yeah, I haven’t forgotten it, I promise, it’s just slow going.

A question for anyone who’s been following the fic so far: how interested are you in the non-canon characters? There are a lot of them, and I’m trying to plan POVs and storylines going forward, especially Post-Empire, but I’m not sure which characters to prioritize, so some feedback would really speed things along.

Flash flinches backwards at the sound of his name and falls on his ass. ‘Aw, Captain!’ he complains, but at Rex’s stern look he shuffles off and flops down at Stitcher’s feet, whose only accommodation to this development is to shift so he can use Flash’s head as a rest for the datapad he’s reading intently.

Omega snorts from where she’s sitting tucked between Hunter and Wrecker. Flash grins from beneath his datapad hat and Omega bursts into outright laughter, falling halfway across Hunter’s lap with the force of it.

Procrastinating writing the watchesverse sequel by drawing scenes from it so y’all get Stitcher, Flash, and his datapad hat instead of the first chapter.

I love these young/old men a totally normal amount.

After hoarding the draft for so long I finally said fuck it and posted Chapter 1 of Quiet in the Jet Black.

Summary: On an abandoned space station in the far reaches of the Outer Rim, Rex says, 'What's your name, soldier?' and when Jesse answers with something other than a four-digit number, he sobs in relief.

Or, Rex's version of the events through 'Through All the Watches of the Night' and beyond.

Quiet in the Jet Black, Chapter 2

It's been a sec since I last read it, but that scene with Ahsoka on Both, and her clones, and I can't remember a lot, but it stuck out to me because I read it when I was supposed to be in bed, but I was do excited because I was reading my first SW fic

Writing and planning Watchesverse is so weird because I usually stick to writing Canon characters but out of necessity 90% of the Watchesverse cast list looks like this

Because everyone knows everyone in this group of Clones they all have to have names and a lot of them have backstories or specialties that no one will ever know about but me so every time I go to reference something I have to go through what's already been written and figure out if it's gonna just confuse readers or not

More Star Wars OCs - this time its Payt and Cuyan from my fic Through all the Watches of the Night and a sketch dump I posted a while back. This isn’t a scene from the fic per se, but I like to think Payt (a GAR clone engineer) has been working on the starfighters, teaching the kid about engines and stuff.... wholesome bonding in between missions for the Rebellion, that kinda thing.
