Random thought: I'm a fan of Frank Wildhorn's Dracula the musical (I saw it on Broadway with my mother back in 2004) and when the play went to Tokyo in 2011 or so, Wao Yoka (a woman who plays male roles) played Dracula. She was fantastic. She ended up marrying the composer.

I think if an English language production was done with the same gender-swap style as Japan, Kathryn Hahn would make for an excellent Dracula!

We already know she can sing and it would be a fun Easter Egg since she plays Dracula's wife in the Hotel Transylvania movies (from the third movie onward).

Dracula (Wildhorn) Jp ver.
"Life after Life" (日本語)
Just Dracula, Lucy+Dracula
——————————
v1.
Singing Notes:
For the bridge it’s sung like this:
Eng: Go and quench your new thirst, drink the blood of the innocent
行け血を求めさ〜、まようのだ一人 (though it’s sung like this, it should be understood as 彷徨う as in “to wander”)
Here’s how the last line would be sung
Eng: Life after life, after life, after life, after life, after life, after life, after life, after life, after... life
永遠に、生きる、ことを、ゆるさ、れたも、のだけ、がぼく、とのい、のちアー

So the images you shared of the Japanese Dracula Theatre performance with Wao Yoka?
I shared it to some subreddits, its been well-received.
Do you have any other images of it that we could share there?
R/feminism and R/Witchesvspatriarchy love it!
I just got those from a quick google search. A surprising number of them mis-tagged as takarazuka (tbf, it's at least taka-adjacent). Glad to see it's doing well!
I think Baldur's Gate 3 just re-primed all of us for vampires and for women who we would let step on us.

Hi! I recently reread your Takarazuka Soragumi Phantom 2004 review and saw that the picture links that were once available no longer work (a pity because the pictures were beautiful). Also, your review was quite literally the reason I fell in love with Takarazuka. Thank you so much for reviewing it. It remains, to this day, my favorite version of phantom (I am biased).
This message totally made my day!  I’m so glad you enjoyed the review, and the Takarazuka show itself.  It’s one of my favorites, too!
The images of the performers linked in the old review were hosted at the old PhantomsTheater.com website, which went down last year, probably for good (although you can still see some of it at the Wayback Machine!).  But anyone who wanted to see some gorgeous pictures from that 2004 cast, here are a few!

Featuring Wao Yoka as the Phantom, and Hanafusa Mari as Christine!
And although sadly most songs from the show have been removed from YouTube, you can still see the curtain call from it on Tudou, and it’s still fabulous a decade later.  Enjoy it, y’all.
I'm so glad I helped you find something as rad as Takarazuka, and thank you so much for your wonderful message!

Wao Yoka as Dracula
Wao Yoka as Dracula from the Tokyo production of Frank Wildhorn's Dracula The Musical.  This was the first time a major production of the musical had a woman playing Dracula.  Since then I have seen (via Youtube) University productions with a female Van Helsing who has a wonderful vocal range and really carries a good version of It's Over (Zu Ende).  I think I rather like female Van Helsing so long as none of the actual content is changed because someone can't fathom a woman doing this or that.
The composer, Frank Wildhorn ended up falling in love with his lady lead and is now married to his female Dracula.

Interesting news for us, Takarazuka fans! Beautiful Wao Youka, who was the Phantom in 2004 Cosmos Troupe production of Yeston/Kopit musical, married composer Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll&Hyde, Scarlet Pimpernel, Count of Monte Christo, etc.) Many congratulations to this couple! (X)

I literally felt a bit upset hearing the news.
