Lessons were learned today, if something is making you dreadfully unhappy and the thought of facing it head on makes you feel ill, talk to people that care about you, and then care about yourself ENOUGH to stand up for you, so what if you do it sad, angry or through tears, you’ve did it didn’t you?

Day 2 prompts for Tobias week

Wwtd: if he won $50mil in the lotto.

He would not overly publicise it, he would only tell people close to him.

1. Pay off mortgage

2. Give some money to his mum Beth. She is by no means impoverished, she is comfortable but he would want her to have some money.

3. Donate to some charities in his home town in Philly. It was a middle class area but there are areas of disadvantage and he would put some money into some scientific programs, especially encouraging girls into the STEM fields.

He would have some fun too and invest some of it also.

Friendships:

Tobias on high school and at U Penn for undergrad had friends but was not overly close. Then we goes to Hopkins and meets Ethan. Where they met is here. It was a friendship that was found on similarities in familial settings, love of good coffee, bourbon and similar career goals. Ethan fast became the brother he wished he had. Then he screws things up and after that night with Estelle things were never the same and the loss of trust turned everything toxic until they were no longer friends. This hurt Tobias so when there was an opportunity to work at Edenbrook with Ethan he took the chance that they could reconcile which they did. Tobias did have other friends at Hopkins and when he started at Kenmore he did make more professional acquaintances but never had really close friendships. In saying that there were people he got to know better than others, Harper Emery being one. He becomes quite close to Casey as well as a friend in the future also.

WWTD? Tobias randomly buys a lottery ticket while getting his morning coffee. Turns out it's the winner, and he's just won $50 million dollars. What does he do?

This one is easy; at least it is if he wins post-dating/being married to Casey.

In my HC, Tobias comes from a super-wealthy, old-monied family on his father's side. While his mother's family was not as well off after his father died, and she received a large inheritance, which she grew substantially on her own, she has assured her family is taken care of, too.

Tobias, Casey, and, later, their girls live quite well, and money concerns do not exist for them. So... there is no way in hell Casey's letting him keep this money! lol A good chunk would go to charity; perhaps they'd consider starting their own philanthropic foundation, and they'd likely use winning to expand their family practice to bring affordable healthcare to those who historically have been denied access.

I don't think they'd even let anyone but their closest confidants know that they won.

Like this is Thúllea Wyrmsdottír, daughter of Thúteran, Lord of Squall and Tempest, a blue greatwyrm that serves as the general of one of Tiamat’s five infernal armies. She’s a devout follower of Tiamat who is always thinking first and foremost WWTD, which is of course, whatever causes the most chaos. Her mother, Hela, is head priestess of the Cult of the Dragon’s sect from Waterdeep to Thornhold. Magic got messed up because the first supernova just happed after Xaryxis got blown up and the Cult of the Dragon thinks they can fix it just by helping Tiamat take over all of Hell. And that’s just the hook for why she’s gonna be in my campaign much less what she’s actually fucking doing.

Tobias appreciation week day 4:

WWTD: if he was the only witness to a crime- not coming forward meant the criminal got off but coming forward would put him or those he cares about at risk.

Such a hard hitting question.

If the victim is hurt badly or it was a murder he would definitely come forward. They deserve some type of justice, and yes harm may come to him but again law enforcement would be involved and justice sought.

If it was a robbery and no harm was done and not much was stolen he would let it slide but if it was a significant robbery he would report it.

If a patient, especially a younger patient reported to him any habitual abuse and there was medical proof of it he would take it to the authorities also.

Fashion:

At work, if it is not a scrubs day (it happens) he generally wears nice pants and a nice button down shirt. He has an array of dressier clothes for dates, get togethers at nice restaurants. This includes suits and tuxes.

At home alone he is generally a sweats and t-shirt or no Shirt kids guy.

He has casual pants, shorts and shirts for casual entertaining and errands.

He does wear glasses as he ages and does not die his hair. Salt and pepper looks good on him.

WWTD? He's walking past an on-call room and hears two coworkers having sex. Let's assume he knows them very well (you can decide who they are). What does he do? Does it matter if he likes them/is friendly with/ them or not? What if one (or both) are someone he's been interested in? What if he knows one (or both) are married/in relationships with someone else? How would he handle this? What would he do with this information?

Considering the fact that Tobias has certainly engaged in some extracurricular activities in the workplace during his lifetime, he is not about to give anyone else grief over this. However, there are contributing factors.

He would have to know it is 100% consensual (say, overhearing Ethan x Kaycee) - if he's not 100% sure, he's intervening.

If it's someone he knows well - he will be busting their chops about this after.... that's a given.

Back in his Kenmore days, if it was someone he really didn't like, I think he'd be a douche and rat them out. lol He'd do that later, too, but only if it was someone who was a total prick.

He wouldn't care if it was someone he was interested in. Prior to Casey, he wasn't looking for anything serious, so he wouldn't be worried about that. After Casey, he doesn't have to worry about it, so it's a non-issue.

If he knew the person was in a relationship with someone else, he would not get involved unless it was someone he knew very, very well. He very "mind your own business". But, if it was a good friend or a good friend's partner, he'd probably confront them privately, and if he found that they were cheating, he'd strongly suggest they fess up - or else.

Tobias Carrick Appreciation (Part 1?)

Hey everyone! So I obviously had to participate in Tobias Carrick Appreciation Week (both since I didn't do it last year and also having an OC that romances him). For today's prompts, I am just going to answer them as questions and not in a fic. I am also going to answer both prompts/questions along with the prompt from last year but I am only counting it as one creation since it is all going to be in the same post.

Starting with last year's prompt, Where did he come from?

My HC for Tobias is that he grew up in the Midwest (either Indiana or Illinois). He was born on May 25th, 1983. His parents divorced when he was 3 and he has an older sister named Maria who at the time was 5. His father, David, decided to move across the country to California and start a life with his new family, meaning Tobias and Maria stayed with their mother, Naomi. His mom decided to not remarry and focused on her job and her kids.

He decided to take up medicine after seeing his sister, who did gymnastics, get injured multiple times and wanted to learn how everything works and heals. He went to Columbia for Undergrad and then obviously John Hopkins for Med School. From Middle School to Undergrad, he played Baseball and Lacrosse, helping his team to sectionals many times.

In school one of his favorite subjects was actually English. He liked reading poems and hearing different stories. His other favorite class was Art and was pretty good at it and got some local awards for his art in high school.

Now on to this year's prompts/questions, If Tobias could no longer practice medicine (the reason is up to you). What would your Tobias select as his new career? What would he pursue? Would he be successful?

If he had to stop practicing medicine, I do think it would be in favor of helping someone get something the really needed (idk what it would be). I think he would then try to pursue art or music (as I HC that he's good at playing guitar). He could either make art for different galleries or be a guitarist for an artist when they tour and would be pretty successful.

And the other question/prompt, Does he travel? Have hobbies, or is he a workaholic through and through? What does he enjoy to do when he has downtime? What does he wish he had time to do? Does he have any hobbies he doesn't want anyone to know about? Where does he like to travel? Does he overpack or underpack? What's his ideal vacation/holiday? Does he travel solo or with others?

Tobias does love to travel, he takes a yearly trip to Greece with his mom and sister (and then with Adelaide as well once they're together). He likes booking warm/tropical places depending on the time of year because he likes being able to swim in the ocean or some body of water. He occasionally does city trips like London or somewhere else but it's not his ideal choice (the majority of his city trips start after meeting Adelaide). Before Adelaide and Tobias get together, he sometimes goes alone on trips and sometimes invite friends. One of his favorite spots to vacation at is Spain (specifically Majorca). At first he used to underpack a little but now he tends to overpack a little (especially after having kids).
