There was nothing worse than thunderstorms.

The way it echoed through your underground home was terrifying. It bounced off the tunnels and became a deafening incomprensible roar. Usually, you were too caught off guard to even think of the chance of it being a thunderstorm. You usually would think it was something terrifying making that hurtful noise so you would go hide before you thought it completely through.

Mikey was usually the first to find you. He’d peer under your bed to see if you were there—which you always were. Then he’d join you, just chilling as you two waited for your three older brothers to come. He’d tell you about the art projects he wanted to do or if this was in the middle of the night, he’d tell you about the dreams he was having.

Then Leo would barge in and forcefully drag you out from your bed in the most traumatizing way only an older brother could manage to do. Luckily, Raph would pull you away from him and wrap you with a fluffy blanket. He’d set you on the bed just in time for Donnie to march in with your old and busted speaker.

“Turtle pile!” Raph flopped onto the bed, making you bounce with his weight hitting the bed beside you. Mikey and Leo would climb in to join and then the four of you would watch Donnie fiddle with the speaker.

“It won’t work?” Mikey yawned out and leaned against your back sleepily.

Donnie had placed it on the ground to inspect it, grumbling and complaining about how old and old tech it was.

“Kick it,” you told him, your first words since they all stormed into your room.

“It’s not going to turn on it you kick it, that’s be preposterous.” Donnie hesitated for a moment, clearly considering your words before he gave in and kicked it. It turned on. “Stupid old thing… Could totally make you a brand new one but you always refuse…”

“Poor wittle baby,” Leo cooed, pulling you into a hug. “Scwared of the storms…” You squirmed in his hold, displeased at the teasing.

“Do I need to bring up how you wouldn’t look at cucumbers for years because you were convinced they were snakes?” Raph asked in a fake sweet voice, the threat clear underneath his tone.

Donnie climbed onto his back, joining the pile. “I would love for you to bring that up.”

“Hahaha, no need, hermano!” Leo pulled you closer, as if trying to hide behind your body or use you as a shield. Mikey laughed a little too loudly for Leo’s liking. “Hey, Miguel, remember when you hid in your shell for days because of a clown horn noise, dear brother of mine?”

“You wouldn’t dare…” Mikey glared.

“Okay, okay, enough blackmailing each other with things we’re scared of!” Raph reached over and shut the lights off. “Let’s sleep until the storm is over. Mad Dogs… lights off.”

They were arguing again. At least you couldn’t hear the thunder over their shouts and your crappy music speaker.

Hi hi hi Padi! I’m on a camping trip by myself and I had to drive for 8 hours yesterday, but I had the best daydream about daddy Fwankie and I really wanted to share it with you!!! ☺️💕

I imagine that daddy Frankie would love taking you on a big camping/road trip. His truck’s packed full and he’s got a bunch of big playlists downloaded so you can sing as loud as you want to all your favourites. He gives you the very special job of being treasurer of the snacks, so the cooler is just behind your seat and is packed with drinks and treats, but Frankie filled it with lots of healthy food too so that you don’t get a tummy ache.

Whenever you start getting restless and fussy, he usually finds the nearest rest stop or park so you can get out and run around, rather than just giving you your phone to keep you occupied. If there’s nobody around, he usually encourages you to play on the playground, happily joining in and grinning the whole time as he watches you get all your energy out. Afterward, once you’re tired out, he tucks you into your seat with your special road-trip stuffie and your blanket so you can take a little nap.

When you reach the campground for the night, you have your own list of tasks to do to help set up camp, like taking the day’s garbage out of the truck and filling up the water jug from the campground tap. Frankie insists on a double sleeping bag for in the tent so you can still sleep curled up against him, and if you wake up in the night needing the bathroom, he’s always walks with you and stands outside keeping guard so no wildlife (or people) sneak up on you.

Frankie plans a bunch of fun hikes for you to go on as well. He carries one of his old army backpacks on hikes because his back is used to it, but he realized that you also needed your own bag just in case something ever happened and you got separated from him, so he found a small tactical style bag and bought you some fun velcro patches to stick on it so you could make it your own.

He normally packs it for you before a hike, until one day you insist that you want to learn to pack it yourself, so he makes you a little checklist and will pack your bag with you.

Before a hike close to the end of your trip, you’re standing at the tailgate of the truck, all your hiking supplies neatly laid out as you slip everything into their respective pockets, Frankie watching silently over your shoulder.

“Did I get everyfing, daddy?” You ask, turning around to look for his approval.

He gives everything a once over, tugging on the first aid pouch to make sure you attached it properly to the outside of the bag.

“You got everything, sweet pea!” he grins. “You’re gettin’ so good that soon you won’t even need daddy to come with you!”

“What? No!!!” You gasp, launching yourself at him and wrapping your arms tight around his middle, as if he was going to send you off to hike by yourself that very minute. “Don’t wan’ go wifout daddy!”

“Daddy was only kidding, baby. I wouldn’t ever make you go by yourself unless you really wanted to,” he reassures you, hugging you tightly until you realize that he was only making a joke. Eventually, he lifts you up onto the tailgate of the truck, leaning in to press a kiss to your forehead as he tells you how proud he is of you, and how he never wants this trip to end. 🥺

She would want to be called Mama.

She will treasure your wee bab, building them a little nursery from the strongest wood she can find in her forest, complete with cute little toys and trinkets for them to play with (without choking, of course).

The kiddos will never go hungry. Ever. Meals are family time in her household, full of warm food and happy stories.

She'll extend the perimeter of her cottage with fences so the baby has room to play without big scary forest mammals coming and endangering them. And she would 1000% set up an outdoor swing-set for the wee'un.

Because Anna has a protective spirit, she'll avoid bringing animal carcasses into the cottage, opting to keep them in her shed until she knows the baby is occupied/asleep. Doesn't want to frighten her little angel 🥺

Lullabies. That's it. Singing and rocking her baby to sleep every night.

When they're old enough for bedtime stories, she'll tone down tales of her hunts and add in stories about will-o'-wisps and other cute mythical forest creatures. Watching their adorable little eyes widen with awe is just 💕

One thing Mama Anna is wary of is making sure her babies aren't isolated from other kids their age. She'll walk them to a busstop every morning so they can take the school bus, pick them up and carry them home on her shoulders in the afternoon.

She'll definitely want more than one bab (so they will never feel lonely).

Arts and crafts and baking are musts for family activities. Anna will make them masks to paint, they can paint the vegetable patch signs, the works. Letting them "help" with baking cookies - they stir the mixture for 5 seconds before their wittle arms get tired, toss in some chocolate chips and lick the spoon.

Family walks through the forest, picking up pinecones and teaching them rhymes about foraging so they know what berries are edible and such.

Sewing them clothes when they're young and growing quickly, patching up any holes from when they climb trees and play in the forest 🥺🥺

And while I could go on for hours, one final parting thought: Anna would absolutely part ways with her mother's sarafan so the babies can use it as a blanket. 🥺🥰
