Colum whimpers, low in his throat.

And, suddenly, in a lightning flash of clarity, everything makes sense. The weird little Master Templar’s words, his razor-sharp eyes. The flush in Colum the Eighth’s ears, the way he shifts to put the stark white pants back over his lap so fastidiously, even though it would be much more effective to just let it rest closer to his knees.

It’s a sex thing.

“It’s a sex thing,” you say, a moment later, because you have never been all that good about keeping your revelations all to yourself. The dress in your lap sits beautiful and complete. “This is a weird sex thing.”

“It’s not sex,” Colum rushes to correct you, flinching hard. It only solidifies your opinion that yes, somehow, that is what is happening.

“How could a necromancer and a cavalier of our stations commit fornication, and with each other no less, Tern?” Silas’s tone is scorching. “Honestly, I think I might have overestimated your intelligence, and at this stage I didn’t think that was possible.”

You are used to strange and esoteric vibes from closely-related people—feelings that you are witnessing emotional incest, or just regular incest. This is… something else entirely. The closest term that even comes to your mind is puritanical exhibitionism, with you as the unknowing voyeur.

You know, you don’t really mind being a voyeur. It’s a nice, comfortable, usually-sexy space to be in. He had always been drafted to help his neighbors when he was younger, and part of him missed the grit of manual labor, the repetitive motions of farming, of growth. Part of him was relieved to be out of there, glad he had run away from his past.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.

However some men not unlike the young Remus Lupin we are going to meet in a bunch of line would (with the help of many glasses of rhum) disagree with the statement above, this is so well known and said to be, as the name suggests, true, that said wealthy single man is considered by men and housewives alike property of their willing progenies.

Remus Lupin, name that already marked this fine paper, was set to live with the lovely and most generous Mrs. Evans at the young age of six, when his mother passed away (pace may be with her poor soul) and his father had to move out of the Island because of his job as scientists (if that’s what you’d like to call someone who likes to conduct experiments to find out the truth about wizards and werewolves alike, all things the pastor had assured the Evans’es didn’t really exist in the same reality as ourselves, so he was unfit to care for a young child.

“Dearie,” such was the name she liked to call her husband, “have you noticed that Gryffindor House is showing signs of being lived in, at last?”

Mr. Evans pondered this for some time, before replying that he did, indeed, not notice.

His lady was much impatient with him for not understanding what she meant, so much that her voice was raised a very small bit, keeping it decorous but showing her resentment, “are you not dying to know who has taken it?”

Mr. Evans’ decided to just not object to his lover’s antics, since their marriage had been long and happy enough for them to know eachother as much.

“Mrs. Pettigrew, the mother of that lovely Peter our Remus always talks about, says that Gryffindor House is taken by a wealthy, young and single, man named Potter. It is also said that some of his servants are to be in the house by the end of this same week.”
