(Demon King Red AU) were DBK and PIF are accidentally sent to the future and witness their sons madness.
"I've always been a good son"!
Demon King Red AU belongs to @purble-turble.
"I've always been a good son!"
Their son's enraged voice echoed off the walls of the palace. The nobles all winced, clearly showcasing the fear that gripped them all. Fear was good as a king. It meant that people knew better than to try you.
It was the opposite when it came to the young man gripping his wife's shoulder tight, staring at Red Son with wide eyes. DBK was almost sick at his pale face, at how subtly he flinched. In this nightmare world, his granddaughter struggled against the Little Thief's hold, clearly uncomfortable with the tense atmosphere, but he did not set her down. The little baby did not struggle either and DBK was willing to bet that the Little Thief would be even less unlikely to set him down.
If he did, then this would be the end.
"You are a good son," he said. The nausea stirred even harder at how his son- no, not his son, barely his son perked up. It was a twisted reflection of how his son lit up at any hint of praise, any sign of approval. How long had Red Son been starved of that? No, he needed to focus. "But you are not a good father to your children. Nor are you a good husband to your mate."
At first, it seemed like he was.
When he and his wife had been sent to this strange future, a future where they had fallen, their son had met them. He had continued on their work, rebuilding the shabby remains of a court into something grand. DBK had not been surprised. He had always known that his son would be a wonderful king.
What had surprised him were his grandchildren.
At first, that had been wonderful.
DBK had always wanted a home full of children, resembling the beauty and grace that was Iron Fan. When misfortune had rendered Iron Fan with only one child, his perfect little son, he had turned his hopes to grandchildren. He had never even imagined a world where he didn't get to see them.
Here, he hadn't, but there they were: a perfect little calf princess and a tiny monkey babe. He could've done without the Little Thief, but that hadn't mattered as much, not when he was holding his grandchildren!
Not until Iron Fan had pointed out things that led to a horrifying truth.
Now, he stared down at a person he could not recognize.
His son would never do the things this man had done to his children and husband.
That man was staring at him as though DBK had spit on him and torn his nice hanfu. His jaw was dropped and his (blank, empty) eyes were wide and horrified.
"And we're leaving," Iron Fan's voice rose. "We are taking Qi Xiaotian and his children to a safe place before we come and deal with you. You are clearly unwell-"
A fireball shot down the hall. DBK dodged, feeling the heat as it sailed by. The Little Thief let out a shocked scream. The fireball had been directly aimed away from them, DBK noted absently, his heart racing. The person who had launched it stared at them.
His eyes were still empty.
"It seems like I have a pair of cuckoos in my castle," the man who claimed to be their son hissed, a manic grin twisting his lips. It was too wide, showing too many teeth. "And they think they can expose my family, my darling... The Little Thief flinched. "To the outside world?"
His hands lit up in flames.
"Don't do this," DBK warned. "Don't even think of attacking us."
The man's head lolled back, his smile growing even wider. It looked like his words hadn't even registered.
"Too bad."

Treasure Bin, Chapter 7
Summary: The girls get MK back!
Notes: @purble-turble
-_-
Bao ducked Mei's punch, aiming a punch of her own that Mei dodged as well.
The hallway was littered with the signs of their fight: dents in the wall and floor and little red drops from their knuckles and Bao's bloody nose. They hadn't cared that anyone could find them. This was a fight that had been years in the making.
Bao tried to tackle Mei, but the younger kicked out, slamming her, once again against the wall. The elder grunted, managing to wrap her hands- A whistle broke through their angry haze.
"Hey there." Macaque leaned against the wall. His grin was wide and nasty. Both girls gulped, both suddenly aware of their mortal state. "I was wondering what…" He grabbed a nearby brazier. "This does."
Bao blanched. "Oh, fuck."
The floor split under them, revealing a gaping crevice and a long fall down. Bao yelped, sending a yoyo to wrap around an upper brazier. Mei fell, frantically grabbing her sword to dig it into the wall a few feet from her exit. The two were left dangling.
"Nothing personal, Bao," Macaque called. "I just can't have you in the way.” He turned and then paused. “Actually,” Something flicked out, cutting through Bao’s yo-yo line. She shrieked as she fell, barely managing to grab Mei’s foot. The sword gave an alarming creak at the added weight.
The shadow clone rejoined Macaque, sinking back into his shadow without a word. And just like that, the actual monkey turned and walked away without a word.
"Well…" Bao mumbled out. "This isn't great."
"Oh, really?"
She groaned.
-_-
Red Son had settled on sulking.
He leaned against one of the crates, glaring at nothing. There was a drink giggle before his lap was filled with MK's head. He was too grumpy to get flustered, so he kept glaring, even as he started to pet him.
"You know what the absolute worst thing about you is?" He finally said. "...you lie. All the time."
MK hummed at the petting.
"I don't think your friends have noticed. But, you lie all the time." Red stopped his petting, only to continue when MK whined. "You have a big smile on your face but it's fake. It's always fake."
MK hummed.
"I mean, why do you do this. Why do you need to? I mean, you don't-" He shut his mouth before he could say the thoughts that had been bugging him for weeks. "I'll make sure it won't."
He focused on that image. "I promise!" His voice grew stronger and he couldn't help the triumphant and dramatic stomp to his feet. He looked down when there was a grunt. Seeing MK was fine, sitting up, Red Son continued. "We're going to go on a date! It's gonna be great! It's gonna be nice! And you're gonna have a great time!"
"Yaaaaaay!" MK clapped, his grin bright.
Silence.
"...what do you wanna do?"
Before MK could give some answer, even if it was completely ridiculous, a door slammed open. "We're here to rescue you MK!" Dragon Girl yelled. Red Son gaped, barely avoiding catching the mortal as he stood and then fell.
"More like I'm here to rescue you.” He burst into drunk giggles, too out of it to notice Red’s gape.
“What...happened to you two?”
Both girls were bruised and bloody with their hair a total mess. Bao held up a yo-yo. “Macaque tried to kill us. He forgot I had a spare. Let’s go.”
Without another word, Mei grabbed MK and slung him over her shoulder. The girls marched out. Red Son was left standing there. He looked around before scrambling after them.
“I...guess I’m going with you.”

Hope you don’t mind, @purble-turble…
CW for minor character death
-_-
In the pine forest of the Firey Mountains, two demons hurried up the path.
They were greeted by the guards at the door to the complex and were allowed entry. They rushed through the courtyard of the complex, past many demons and Bull Clones preparing for fight, and into the main house. They passed maids and servants and more Bull Clones until they entered a throne room, full of demons. Two demons hurried down the steps of the dias, where they had just setting up a newer throne.
The older throne held their new king. He leaned back, considering an image he had made out of flames. The two lackeys stopped and bowed. “My lord.” they said together.
“Report.” Red Son said, never tearing his eyes from the image.
“We couldn’t get the artifact.”
“Really?” Despite the cool mask he was projecting, smoke was drifting off his hair. It was a clear signal he was ready to lose his temper. “Do you mind telling me?” His court chuckled among themselves, fully prepared to watch their king loose it onto these minor creatures.
The taller one elbowed the shorter one forward. “…We ran into the Monkie Kid.” the shorter one reported.
Everything went silent. Red looked up. “Really?” The demons yelped as he was suddenly in their personal space, eyes gleaming with a manic, obsessive light. His smile was wide, tinged with that same manic energy. “How is he? Did he ask about me? Tell me everything!” He grabbed the shorter’s shoulders desperately, not noticing when his claws dug into the lackey’s shoulders.
“Um…he showed up at the Long Manor while we were taking the necklace?” he started. Red nodded and he gained a little more confidence. “I think he said something about a slumber party? But anyway, we fought.”
“I drew blood!” the taller said happily, waving his spear. True to his word, crimson was smeared over the edge of the blade. It was barely a drop.
The mood plummeted.
Red’s smile slipped and the room grew hotter. “You…drew blood.” He released the smaller, glaring at the spear. Everyone grew silent and crowded to the edge of the room, away from their new king. “You hurt him.”
“Yep!” the taller said with a smile. He froze when he finally noticed Red’s hair light up. “Um, well, that’s- good, right. That means-”
Red’s hand snatched out and wrapped around his throat. The demon desperately clawed at the hand around his throat, wheezing and gasping. “My lord- my liege- don’t understand- he’s the enemy!”
“He is a fool blinded by others!” Red roared, squeezing harder. “He is everything that is important! He’s mine! You hear that?! MINE!” The sentence ended with a crunch of the demon’s neck. He dropped the corpse like filthy garbage, glaring at nothing.
The court was silent.
“Leave me.”
They frantically ran from the room, the smaller grabbing the taller’s corpse and lugging it away. When he was finally alone, Red sighed, smoothing his hair back. For a moment, he regretted not keeping the spear, splashed with a little bit of MK. He shoved the thought away.
Soon, that wouldn’t matter.
MK would be back where he belonged, blinded no longer by the idiots that held him back from Red and a grateful little consort. The demon returned to his throne, summoning another flame image of MK. He watched as the little figure dance and spun on his palm, staring at him with those beautiful eyes.
Soon.
Or Prisoner MK manages to escape and reunite with his friends but when they return to try and deal with Red Son, he's appeared to have escaped. The next stage is revealed to have Red call upon his parents' back-in-the-day allies, plotting to conquer the city on his own, take back MK, and tear any barriers that kept them apart.
I was kind of focused on Red Son being defeated at the end of MK’s imprisonment, but this makes a lot of sense too! And since Red’s father has been defeated, I guess that makes him the new king. He begins plotting, surrounding himself with lesser demons made to swear fealty to him as he builds an army and plots his campaign to dominate first this city, and then the entire world!
Of course if any one of his stupid demon lackeys lays a finger on the Monkie Kid he’ll have their head! He may be working to conquer the world and plunge it into darkness, but it’s all a means to an end. MK is still his and he will get him back.

For a spicynoodles prompt, how about forehead kisses set in any one of my (@purble-turble) AUs :3c
"Are you sure you'll be fine?"
Xiaotian raised a brow as he watched his husband rock their son. "I'll be fine. I took care of Shan when she was this age. Jiayi is no different." Even if he was starting to wriggle, preparing to roll over on his belly.
Red hummed worriedly as Xiaotian gently took their son from his arms and back into his crib before leading him out of the bedroom and down the levels. The tower was massive, but it didn't take more than a moment to finally reach the door's level. He paused, worrying his hands together. "But you just gave birth, darling..."
"Three months ago." To seal the deal, he pressed a kiss to Red's forehead. The king's hair sparked and he grinned brightly at the gesture of affection. "Your court needs you."
Red nodded, opening the door and Xiaotian nearly whimpered at the sight of sunshine. "Okay. But," He quickly ducked back in. "I promise I won't be gone long. Summon me if you need anything." He kissed him, smiling. "I love you."
Xiaotian waved back, his grin big and wide. "Bye!"
When the door closed, his smile dropped.
Instead of the happy young man the king imagined him to be, Qi Xiaotian returned to his true form.
A very tired and drained man, dark bags under his eyes and too skinny.
"Baba!" a little girl called from upstairs. "Can I hold the baby?!" Xiaotian took a deep breath and a smile formed. Even if it lacked the sunshine that it had before his life had fallen apart, it was much more real.
"Sure, Shan!" He called, turning to head up the stairs. "Let me get up there first though-"
The door bashed in behind him, followed by a yell of "QI XIAOTIAN?!"

Treasure Bin- Chapter 3
Summary: The drunk MK shenanigans begin!
Notes: Again, @purble-turble‘s lovely comic made me think up of how MK would react to seeing Macaque again. A portion of that can be seen here.
-_-
He hadn’t thought he ever see Macaque again.
Those purple eyes and that smirk haunted his nightmares, ruffling his hair before killing him. MK couldn’t help but stare at the black-furred monkey, who grinned even wider at his clear fear. And then rage overtook the fear.
MK reacted on instinct, pushing Tang back through the portal. He didn’t linger enough to see the portal close, instead pulling out his staff and rushing towards Macaque. Mei was at his side, rushing straight at Red Son. The Bull Clones that stood in the way didn’t even stand a chase. He was far enough to see Bao pull herself free from Macaque’s grip, pulling out her yo-yos to join the fight against the robots.
His course to Macaque was clear.
He barely had a moment to hear Bao yell his name and a curse before he lunged, determined to hit the smug villain in his face. But he didn’t move like MK expected him to. Instead, a jar full of gold slime broke against the staff. Macaque dodged much to his confused shock.
And then everything went blurry.
-_-
Bao’s curse wasn’t when MK lunged at Macaque.
It was when her yo-yo missed wrapping around her brother. He was moving too fast and it instead wrapped around the nearby pillar of the shop’s complex. She went sideways through the robots and...yeah, no. No. Going sideways was a weird feeling, never doing that again. Unfortunately, nobody was close enough to grab the jar before it hit the staff.
There was a buzz of golden electricity before everyone was thrown back. When the smoke cleared, Mei was the first to reach MK. Bao was close behind. The two girls stared at the scene- the slime had hardened over the surface of the staff. The staff and MK himself were still slightly smoking. He looked like he had been knocked unconscious.
“MK…?” Mei said, poking her friend in the shoulder. There was silence.
Then a drunk giggle broke it. MK’s eyes opened, revealing that they were hazy and glazed over. He grinned at the sight of Mei. “Mei, there’s two of you!” He giggled, sounding like he was drunk off his feet. “That’s nice…” His eyes slid shut.
The damage had been done.
Mei gaped. “What happened?!”
“An experiment of my great aunt’s-” That was all Bao managed to say before cold metal hands clamped around the girl’s arms. The surviving Bull Clones made way for Macaque and Red Son, who stared at the giggly MK. The monkey seemed to have no words, staring at the staff with wide eyes. Red Son, on the other hand, did have words.
“Oh, Noodle Boy…” The redhead demon knelt with a small, lovesick smile. “Looks like you’re all mine now.”
“Oh, you wish!” Bao, who was one hundred percent done with this, snarled. She slammed her head back, freeing her arm as the robot staggered back and allowing her to grab one of her yo-yos. She whirled it until it was a glowing teal circle and then threw it. The makeshift buzzsaw ran through the metal and wires of the Bull Clones’ necks, sending heads and bodies everywhere until it returned to her hand. There was an unfortunate side effect to this chain reaction was that the heads and parts went scattering everywhere.
Hidden by the snow, tapped by the ruins, characters glowed. All said the same thing: rise shall the guards.
“FUCK!” Bao cursed as stones rose up, forming large golems. The worst part was a loud screech off in the horizon. It had nothing to do with the snowstorm. She grabbed Mei and Mk- who was cuddling the staff like a teddy bear, thankfully- and dragged them to the rapidly closing door of the complex.
All of them barely had a moment to see Red Son and Macaque’s rage before the doors slammed shut just an inch from Mei’s foot.
