whyre always so mad about people just visiting countries on vacay take a chill pill omg

i’m always so mad about this because while you can spend your mamma mia fantasy here in mediterranean countries, the people who live here all days of the year can’t even afford renting their own place to live bc of gentrification and mass tourism.

you come here 15 days a year in the summer, and destroy beaches, treat the locals like shit (specially bartenders, i have lived that firsthand), get blackout drunk in the streets, overall being everything you’re not in your own country.

you have turned beautiful places like ibiza, tenerife, barcelona, marbella (and many more) into a circus. thinking there’s only party life here. meanwhile locals don’t even think about the possibility of living here because rent prices are the highest they’ve ever been. old people are getting kicked out of their homes to turn them into airbnbs. do you think that’s fair? to have contributed to the economy of your country only to have been kicked out of your home bc of mass tourism? would you wish that to happen to your own family or friends?

tourism is great. i myself love to visit other countries when i have the opportunity. but i try not to contribute to the stereotype lots of you are when you come here. rude, disrespectful, oblivious to everything and everyone, walking around like it’s your city. ask anyone who lives in the big cities. i can tell u lots of things ive seen and experienced, yesterday, last week, every damn month.

can’t take a chill pill if this is whats going on. but what will you know🤷🏻‍♀️
