So I recall you making this post a little while ago. I don't know if you've found anything yet (or like... are even still curious), but if it interests you at all, I found this video of Ellison from the 1990s talking about ASO here. His old YouTube channel is full of stuff like this (I kinda sorta stayed up all night watching a bunch of them.) I don't know if it's exactly what you were looking for but I saw it and I thought it was too interesting to not share
this was actually in reference to his og review (i will let you decide what wheted my curiosity), but thank you for the link! it is very interesting, and i will watch some later. i'm afraid i don't know how to link the pdf.
