Apparently There's Evidence of Ballot Harvesting in This Swing State

With Election Day just four days away, all eyes are going to be on potential cases of voter fraud to avoid a repeat of the 2020 election in which lawsuits claim there was mass ballot rigging that resulted in President Joe Biden’s win. 

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) is ramping up concerns over possible cases of ballot harvesting in Wisconsin, one of the most critical swing states that could decide the outcome of the 2024 election. CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp filed a complaint with the Wisconsin Elections Commission, citing evidence of ballot harvesting being committed in plain sight. 

Schlapp claimed he had photogenic evidence and an eye witness who saw alleged ballot-stuffing outside Milwaukee City Hall.

The complaint states that the witness saw an individual stuffing at least 500 ballots into an unguarded ballot box and then took off once the individual realized they were being watched. 

“As part of CPAC’s efforts to ensure elections are free and fair, CPAC has filed a complaint with the Wisconsin Election Commission (“WEC”) and reported to local law enforcement allegations of potential efforts to commit fraud or corruption in the voting process by an unknown individual,” Schlapp said in a statement. “CPAC received reports of illicit ballot harvesting at the dropbox location outside Milwaukee City Hall. A witness reported an individual depositing a significant number of absentee ballots into the dropbox before fleeing the scene. Ballot Harvesting is illegal under Wisconsin Law.”

Ballot harvesting, collecting completed absentee ballots from voters and delivering them to polling places or election offices, is illegal in Wisconsin. The law states that ballots are to be “mailed by the elector, or delivered in person, to the municipal clerk issuing the ballot or ballots’ unless the elector is disabled.”

Below is a portion of the witness’s statement: 

I have personal knowledge of the matters set forth herein, and if called as a witness, I could and would testify competently as to the truth of such matters. On October 25, 2024, at approximately 7:55 pm, I witnessed an individual who appeared to deposit a bag full of absentee ballots into a dropbox. It is my understanding that ballot trafficking is a violation of Wisconsin state law and that each elector must deliver their own absentee ballot unless the elector is disabled. I was sitting in my car with my son outside of the City Hall dropbox location at 200 E. Wells Street, Milwaukee, WI 53202. An individual approached the dropbox carrying two bags. One of the bags was a drawstring backup. The other bag was a large green bag with a zipper on the top. The green bag appeared to be full. I would estimate that the green bag could hold between 50 and 500 absentee ballots. The individual walked up to the drop box and reached into the green bag at least five times to empty the contents of his bag into the dropbox. While walking away from the dropbox, I watched the individual fold up the now empty green bag and proceed to put it in the drawstring backup. When the individual realized I was watching and taking pictures, the individual sprinted away.

Wisconsin has a history of razor-thin margins in national elections. In a Marist poll released Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris has a three percentage point lead over former President Donald Trump, 51-48 percent.

However, a USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll from earlier this week shows Trump and Harris tied in the state, 48 to 47 percent.

No começo da tarde , tava  chovendo muito forte  tendo muitas trocas de lideres na geral e por categoria.

Por causa da chuva foi colocado sefety car por muito tempo quando teve a relargada o Peugeot 9 x 8 #93 estava na frente e foi ultrapassado pelo Porsche 963 #38 da Hertz Team Jota liderou a prova por um tempo até que aconteceu isso.

Entre a 7 hora ou 8 hora o Porsche 963 #75 teve problemas com tanque de combustível e teve que abandonar.

Um pouco depois disso a Ferrari 499 P #51,com Alessandro Pier Guide, escapou numa das chicanes no final da pista.

Entre a 6h30 o Toyota #7 se envolveu num toque com uma Ferrari Da LMGTE AM e o LMP2 #35 da Alpine, tendo que abandonar.

Daniel Kvyat bateu com o Com o carro da Prema #63 tendo que ele e seus companheiros Doriane Pin e Mirko Bortolotti que tiveram de abandonar.

The "work ethic" is a dirty trick we play on ourselves

In Nebraska — and elsewhere — the forced-labor camps that some prisoners are sent to have been rebranded. They’re called “Work-Ethic Camps” now, and prisoners do 30–40h/week of hard labor for $1.21/day, interspersed with “intro to business” courses.

As Jamiek McCallum writes in Aeon: “If there was a formula for obliterating the work ethic, giving people undesirable jobs with long hours and barely paying them sounds exactly like it.”

McCallum is reiterating the thesis of his 2020 book, “Worked Over: How Round-the-Clock Work Is Killing the American Dream,” which presents discourse about work-ethic as “a severe anxiety about a fundamental precept of the American civil religion.”

The precarious “essential” workers who risked their lives and stayed on the job contended with irregular schedules and low pay.

We have a “work ethic” problem — but it’s not too little work ethic — it’s too much.

McCallum: “overwork, unstable schedules, and a lack of adequate hours define the paradoxical time signature of the work life today.”

But, McCallum argues, the work ethic doesn’t create the bad working conditions. Rather, we dream up the work ethic to resolve the cognitive dissonance of unsustainable, brutal working conditions.

That’s why surveys show workers who express a preference for shorter hours report satisfaction with their working conditions when their hours get longer — workers don’t “get what they want” so they “want what they get.”

This rationalizing of the bruising effects of overwork as the virtuous expression of good morals is essential to capitalism. Capitalism requires that we prove ourselves “worthy” — of food, shelter, education, leisure — by succeeding in the market.

It’s not shocking that a Wisconsin school district is ending free school meals for young children in order to improve their work ethic. If you can’t afford food, you don’t deserve food.

The cult of the work ethic is the flipside of the aristocrat’s leisure-as-status-symbol — the use of hobbies and “idleness” as a way to demonstrate your membership in the ruling class — think of preppie chic, with its emphasis on golf- and boating-clothes.

Early capitalists demanded leisure for themselves and hard work for the proletariat — but so did their enemies. Marxists valorized work and workers, creating the worker-hero.

But the left has also always had a pro-leisure/anti work ethic tendency, embodied by the likes of Woody Guthrie, whose “Talking Hard Luck Blues” is a smart and savage assault on the idea that overwork is a virtue.

This is why we call it “late-stage capitalism.” It’s not just precarious workers logging destructively long shifts and losing the leisure time to imagine, dream, love and live — it’s also the 1%, who sometimes pay for the privilege. It’s a system that punishes the winners, albeit less severely than the losers.

McCallum closes his essay with some remarks from Andrew Russell, an inmate at a Nebraskan Work Ethic Camp. Russell worked a series of sub-survival jobs before finding a living wage selling meth, a gruelling job that he worked long hours at before his arrest.

Russell actually escaped from the WEC but was turned in by a friend who needed the reward money, and had to serve an extra year as punishment. He served three years and was released in 2019, having earned “enough money to buy a bus ticket to his parents’ house.”

“I know how to work just fine, been doing it as a kid. What are they trying to prove? I like to work hard, but there’s gotta be a point, so I don’t feel I completely wasted my time. I wanna do real work. What really matters is everything we do outside our jobs to strengthen our community — that’s the real work.”

Mid-Week Motorsport Headlines - 18th November 2021

F1

Having been the favourite all along, Zhou has been confirmed in the 2nd Alfa Romeo seat for 2022. He is an Alpine junior, who is currently 2nd in the F2 standings, with a few wins this year. Whilst there are more impressive CV’s out there, Guanyu is worthy of an F1 seat you have to say, and will be the 1st Chinese driver in F1. Money seems to be what allowed him to get the seat over Giovinazzi or Piastri, as Chinese backers are reported to have sourced $30 million for him.

After the stewards felt there was no need to investigate the incident on Lap 48 of the Grand Prix, Mercedes have lodged a right to review it, as the onboard of Verstappen’s car has been released now to the public. I imagine that the FIA will agree with their view, and allow them to appeal for a penalty, but given Lewis did get past before the race ended, the FIA may not feel it necessary to penalise him. I am sure it will be the subject of much debate!

Formula E

After the news of Zhou joining Alfa Romeo, Giovinazzi announced he will move across to Dragon Penske for next year. This was probably the best choice for him, as he is a very good driver, he just wasn’t quite cut out for F1. I am excited to see how he does. Alongside this, Sette Camara was confirmed to stay at the team with the Italian, creating a rather strong line up.

Vergne has also resigned with Decheetah, to continue the fiery partnership with Da Costa, which surely will lead to disaster soon! Until then, the team will have two great drivers, who have the potential to do great things for the team.

IndyCar

The US Air Force have pulled out of sponsoring the No. 20 Ed Carpenter car, presumably as the performance of that car is not what they were hoping for. Daly was unlucky on road courses this year, and Ed has been struggling to put it all together on ovals too. This has left a big vacuum at the team, and could be a major issue going forwards.

MotoGP

Unfortunately, work has kept me from writing another MotoGP review article, I can only apologise, there will be a review article of the season coming out soon, and things should be calmer for me when they return in March/April. As for the season finale, it was another weekend for Ducati, as Martin ended his rookie year on a high, before having the win snatched from him by Bagnaia, who offered it as a thank you to Rossi. The Italian squad look formidable for 2022, especially as Jorge was ill this weekend.

Quartararo was at sea all weekend, although he did get well inside the top 10 for the race, he can still be so proud of his year. Mir and Binder did their bit, for teams who are probably glad to leave 2021 behind them, and should expect much better next year. Bastiannini and Aleix Espargaro deserved to end their years in the top 10, after both having stellar campaigns. Morbidelli too showed promise for 2022.

However, that weekend was all really about one man, who was leaving behind one of the most incredible careers in racing, spanning 26 years. It was truly emotional to think that was it for the GOAT of motorcycle racing, and whilst it would have been crazy for him to win the final race, this year has shown he chose the right time to go, and has nothing to be ashamed of. We should all just be thankful we got to witness Rossi’s career unfold around us.

Other News

Glickenhaus will have 1 full time car in 2022 for the WEC season, with there being 2 entries for Le Mans. This is probably a smart move, as they are a small team, and don’t want to overstretch themselves. There is the potential for the 2nd car to race outside of Le Mans, but the logistics of that is still being sorted out.

Dodge is reportedly set to return to NASCAR, sources say it is 80% done, with them apparently joining up with Stewart Haas Racing to begin with. This would not happen in time for next year, but 2023 or 24 is highly likely. This would be a major coup for NASCAR, as Dodge would bring much more money and viewers to the sport, and complete the big 3 American Automotive giants.

I have to ask something, it's always been bugging me, but how do drivers sleep? Like I see in videos they sleep wherever. Do you have any stories of the oddest places that drivers sleep? Do they sleep often while in the paddock or whatever something like that.

Oh, like. Everywhere. I mean, in F1 they’re sort of shepherded around and they have their driver rooms and things so they usually go there for a snooze and in WEC there’s designated driver chill areas cus obviously in 24h you’re gonna need one. (most of them never sleep cus they’re too hopped but like, it’s private) and then there’s FE

One of the people you can find sleeping almost anywhere in an FE paddock is jetlagged me. I have slept in SO many media centres and the drivers do too - there’s something about Riyadh in particular cus the flights always land in the middle of the night that sends us all sleep-deprived snoozy. They sleep on like, any flat surface, or some packing stuff, or just anywhere they can find that’s remotely comfy. 

I would say most people in motorsport run on very abnormally low amounts of sleep, drivers included. I know in F1 they try to get them to sleep plenty for the physical demands but being able to run for months on 4 or fewer hours of sleep a night is a job requirement for any international series.  think I spoke about this awhile ago but like, 48-56h of having to be awake is not a rare occasion for even me. 

But yeah they all just snooze wherever and whenever. Like FE we don’t really have space for much so a lot of the time it’s the little catering tent out the back of the garage or a random office. At testing one year I was trying to go for a little nap in an empty room and a driver also was and we both just like, ignored each other, pretended it wasn’t happening and took desks in opposite corners to slump on.

But yeah in F1 they try to like, put them away a bit more. The media is less understanding I guess or gets less access to them.

I decided to also take the health and physical education quiz at the WEC, on my own. That shit was hard. Brenden never taught us about racquetball and golf but at least we know how to put a condom on a zucchini.

This is when I met Logan. We both were struggling so really any help we could get from each other... damn it nah we still failed. I made a friend at least. But he isn’t even attending wwu ://

I also shake hands with Logan Adams who kayala tells me still lives with his cat Lol. Auburn people be like that. He doesn’t seem to care as I ask him if any athletic work positions available.
