Over the years, Laios had seen the many sides of a drunk Chilchuck. There was the affectionate variant—one of the more common sides—where Chilchuck was sappy and sweet to the point it felt out of character. There was also the angry variant. This one was more like Chilchuck's usual snippy attitude, but turned up to an extreme. Right now, Chilchuck was neither affectionate nor angry, but... well, it was hard to describe.

Chilchuck has a moment of weakness, and Laios stays with him despite it.

Anyways here to ask for Reverse AU Arct allowing Septem/Nulla/Rafael to preen his wings, because it's the most GIGANTIC sign of trust they can get, and how they feel about it.

Septem

He is ecstatic. Not because he is particularly eager to do the manual task of preening feathers, but rather because he has finally gained enough trust for Arcturus to ask for something so personal.

I mean, think about it. One of the easiest ways for Septem to gain more control over his situation is to make Arcturus put his unadulterated trust in him. 

And what other act SCREAMS “I trust you” than allowing the other person to touch your wings?

Septem would never let anyone touch his. 

He doesn’t really show it, but Septem does start to enjoy the task after a bit of time. 

He isn’t fond of the fact that he is bothered with grooming Arct’s wings, but it IS, at its barebones level, an organizational task that allows him some control over how Arcturus looks.

Even if it is more so in private since the Moon rarely shows his wings to anyone.

It’ll be their little secret. 

Nulla 

Like Septem, Nulla is ecstatic when Arcturus asks for help preening his wings.

It is for a different reason, however!

Nulla adores Arcturus.

Arcturus hasn’t even finished the sentence, Nulla is already SAT.

Hear me out, Nulla makes sweets and pastries. And while we’ve only seen pancakes and tiramisu (two desserts that aren’t too complicated), I imagine Nulla being unrealistically good at delicate and precise tasks. 

Which is how he perceives preening.

Okay, but seriously, have you tried to make macarons? If they sense your fucking vibes are off, it’s over. Don’t you even dare breathe if they haven’t allowed you to. 

Sorry, I’ve just been fighting a war against macarons and losing for a hot minute :(…

Nulla is very careful. He doesn’t wish to accidentally hurt or cause any discomfort to his Moon.

It’s a very intimate act. More so than anything with Nulla. Not intimate in a saucy way, but intimate in a “this act has made us grow closer as individuals like no other before.”

Nulla takes his time, running his fingers through each feather, straightening out the freshly-preened ones. 

It’s not simple preening. It’s an act of adoration and reverence. It is worship. 

Rafael

Rafael was surprised by the offer more than anyone else on this list. 

I mean, how could he not be? He never preened anyone’s feathers. Sure, he has lived through A LOT of experiences, but the closest he’s got to grooming wings was watching Septem preen himself FROM RAFAEL’S OWN BODY.

He was kind of held hostage there, so it doesn’t count? 

Arcturus has to show him how to do it, and then Rafael still takes it slow because he doesn’t want to hurt him.

Arct tries to reassure Rafael that he doesn’t have to be so cautious, but it takes some time for Rafael to get used to it and relax. 

He periodically stops to admire Arcturus’s wings and sinks into their feathery softness. 

After they’re done, Rafael hesitates before asking Arcturus to keep his wings out a little longer. 

Safe to say, he falls asleep in the gentle embrace of the Moon.

He does sneeze a couple of times though. The feathers tickle, you know…

Question for the rest of the local group (and other iterators)! what effect do you think that moons collapse (and subsequent reawakening and freedom) will have on the quest to find the solution? new paths to explore and all!

Disconnecting a puppet from a can is a very undesirable condition to be in. The puppet (in my headcanon) is the epicenter of control for an iterator, so its absence would be a major detriment. Not to mention that the effort required to disconnect under normal circumstances would be immense, requiring breaking taboos in order to even attempt it on your own.

Disconnection from the can would usually only be desirable if the rest of the can was in a dying or irrecoverable state. But at that point it would require either blind luck and/or the great charity of an iterator's purposed organisms in order to recover it.

Moon's disconnection is, to put it simply, a fluke. In this AU, the mechanical arm and umbilical got hit in *just* the right way to have them both sever from the can while leaving her puppet alive.

All this to say; not many iterators will attempt it. Those who will probably weren't working that hard on the Great Problem anyways. Some may dedicate resources to alternatives to full disconnection; for instance, creating avatars that they can control, or generating simulations and getting lost within their mind.

So, overall, the whole thing probably won't have much of an impact on the Great Problem. At least, under my interpretation. Feel free to tag with any alternate theories or how your oc's would react to Moon's situation!
