Why Germany and Guatemala? At first glance, these two countries might seem to have little in common. Some might even think they barely know each other. But if we dig a little deeper, we’ll realize that their relationship is far more profound than one might assume.

My goal in commissioning this illustration was to capture in a single image the deep spiritual connection these two countries have shared throughout the years.

You can't talk about Guatemala's economy without mentioning a small red bean—coffee. And you can't talk about its evolution without recognizing the significant German influence in the country. But this relationship goes beyond mere trade agreements or international treaties; it is something far more intimate and human—I’m talking about a spiritual convergence.

The interaction between Germans and the Maya, especially the Q'eqchi' people, is a clear example of how a relationship that began in the labor sphere evolved into a mutual recognition of shared values. According to Ricardo Terga Citrón’s study, there are a series of fundamental values that both peoples hold in common. What started as a relationship between German landowners and Q'eqchi' workers eventually transcended economic ties when they realized how much they had in common at a deeper level.

One of the most evident aspects of this convergence is their connection to nature. The Q'eqchi' Maya have always lived in deep harmony with their environment, viewing nature as sacred—a vital force that deserves respect and reverence. Similarly, Germans, despite their technological advancements, have an almost mystical relationship with their forests and landscapes—places that, like the mountains for the Maya, evoke reverence and a deep sense of belonging.

Both peoples also value hard work. The Germans saw in the Q'eqchi' a strong work ethic, a spirit that did not give in to harsh weather, fatigue, or hardship. For both, work is not just a necessity but a virtue—a way of life that defines and gives them purpose.Moreover, the honesty and deep sense of community that define the Q'eqchi' resonated strongly with German values. Both take great pride in their communities—whether it’s the tenamit or the volk. Being part of a community is not just a geographical or biological fact; it is a spiritual connection that transcends borders and unites them in an unbreakable bond.

It is this series of similarities that has led many to describe the relationship between Guatemala and Germany as one of soulmates. It is not a casual or superficial bond but a relationship that, like an invisible red thread, has woven an unbreakable connection between these two nations over the years—one that goes beyond the material. As historical records suggest, there is an inexplicable attraction, a deep affinity that surpasses the physical and manifests in every interaction, every glance, every shared gesture.

To me, they are not just two nations with intertwined histories—they are souls that recognize and complement each other, bound by ancestral values that continue to shape their relationship today. This bond, their red thread, is still visible—not just in political relations but in the people, in the cultural and human legacy they have built together. And that is why I love them so much.

I wanted to highlight the deep intimacy between the Maya and the Germans because it’s one of my absolute favorite topics—one that almost no one in this fandom has talked about, neither in the Spanish nor the English-speaking communities. And I think it's incredibly important to discuss. I feel that this intimacy is the heart of this ship—it’s the true representation of their love. This is what makes AleGuat the best ship for Guatemala, in my eyes. The way real historians describe this relationship is filled with immense warmth because you can feel it. The concepts of the red thread and soulmates are not something I invented; they are terms that historians have used to describe this connection throughout the years. For the 175th anniversary of Guatemala-Germany relations, the German Embassy even used a red thread theme to symbolize the connection between the two nations, tied to the red dye of cochineal—used in both Guatemala and Germany for fabric dyeing. This is significant because Mayan weavers have a deep tradition with threads, and Germany has actively supported projects for them.

All of this is something deeply unique, something theirs, something personal—something that cannot be replicated with any other country. It is beautiful. It is love.

Of course, you already know this one, but it really is Alex Benedetto from Gangsta.! She’s gorgeous, has the right colouring, and is just always the first character to pop into my head when I think of Martha!

WHITE: what flame type and box weapon do I think you’d have in the khr!verse?

While I sort of answered this when I did the other personalization prompt, I do think you have dual Mist and Rain Flames. Your Mist Flames are just the tiniest bit stronger, and though you can’t create full blown illusions, you can use the Mist Flames in ways that do help to deceive or trick others, mostly in defensive ways, while your Rain Flames are the more offensive of the two. As far as box weapons go, I think your Rain box animal is a whale and your Mist Flame animal is a turkey. Going again with the symbolism of spirit animals, both of these animals have deep ties towards community and family. The whale is a symbol of wisdom, emotional healing, keeping history, and peaceful strength, while the turkey is a symbol of abundance and generosity.

This is perhaps one of my favorite topics and why I fell in love with the world of BJDs. It is also one that you do not hear mentioned by many people due to its somewhat “clandestine” nature. - Volks has created a very real air about their product in terms of artistry and respect. I daresay it is almost ‘cultish’ in nature. I feel comfortable throwing these words around due to images like the following on “SuperDollfie World View”:

Volks Dollfie Timeline (image credit Volks USA) - This was once a very real image used to describe the Super Dollfie product line on the Volks USA web site before the redesign (in 2014).

Volks clearly indicates that Super Dollfie is a spiritual experience and the dolls are linked to the owner throughout the life cycle, as well as in death. -- I cannot explain what is happening here but there’s obviously some hits on reincarnation, our relationship to our dolls and… something cosmic that indicates that these dolls should be perceived to be as very much alive.

As per Volks Inc. Super Dollfie are often referred in literature as “another self”. They are also called ”dear sons and daughters” as well as angels (or "tenshi" in japanese), spiritual beings that reflect our own traces of personality as they "leach" or are "connected by" the live of their owners. - It is also suggested that terms such as “bought” are vulgar when describing the acquisition of a Super Dollfie, when a Super Dollfie comes to its new owner, both, owner and company, refers to this as “welcoming” or “adopting” a Super Dollfie.

In Japan at the “Angels’ Sanctuary” (“Tenshi no Sato”) there is something called an “Omukae (meaning ‘picking up’) Ceremony” which new owners can elect to partake in. - This event in the past has often been overseen by company president Shigeta himself. - The event is quite spectacular: After a speech by the Volks official who is presiding over the ceremony, new owners walk down an aisle to stand at the foot of a large statue who resembles the Virgin Mary (called "Mother Super Dollfie"). - At the base of the statue lies a special box enveloped with light, gauzy fabric. Within this material lies the new Super Dollfies who are waiting to be welcomed by the owner to their lives. - Then the presiding official will carry a lit candle to the owner and light candles at either side of the aisle in front of the statue.

The overhead lights dim and the room is enveloped in candlelight. Then, after a long speech by the Volks official, the owner blows out each candle on either side of the altar. The owner is to lift back the fabric and reveal their new “other self” and welcome it into their arms. - Thus a new Super Dollfie has come to life!

It may all seem very strange to outside eyes but when put in context of the cultural importance of ‘dolls’ worldwide the mysticism behind Super Dollfie begins to make quite a lot of sense.

Intro to stages from Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series

Breezegale Klonoa’s home village, where the wind is plentiful. The power from its central feature, a massive windmill, is harnessed by the villagers to live. To the rear of the windmill is a mine where luminescent gems are gathered. As for the hill above, the “Wind of Time” blows by each noon and evening, ringing the bell on the peak. Breezegale is known for its artisans who use concentrated wind to shape stone. In fact, the statue of the songstress Lephise, perched atop a cliff, was made with that very technique.

Forlock Forest From Forlock’s center a massive tree climbs skyward, upon which the chieftess Granny’s dwelling can be found. Her house features a bevy of mechanical contraptions, including a giant cog. Below this arboreal titan is a swath of smaller trees where the villagers have made their residences. Contraptions using vines and wooden platforms offer a unique means of forest traversal, a testament to Forlock’s advanced woodworking – the influence of which has spread to many a kingdom and village across the land. Gondolas, rail cars, even Breezegale’s hanging bridge, were crafted using the honed techniques of Forlock denizens.

Jugpot Kingdom Jugpot is the sole kingdom responsible for supplying the whole of Phantomile with water. The castle is fashioned from a seashell, with a colossal waterwheel affixed to it. It’s said so long as the wheel is turning, water will endlessly flow from the kingdom’s depths. The waterfall in Klonoa’s village can be traced back here. Jugpot even quenches the thirst of Forlock’s near-boundless greenery. The kingdom’s many stone pillars and banisters were fashioned by Breezegale artisans.

Coronia Shrine Coronia Shrine is a shrine that floats in the Phantomile skies. There is no means of accessing the shrine from the ground. Thus, it has no visitors, and its very existence is baffling even to Phantomilians. An altar is housed here – one with the power to undo the seal placed upon the Moon Kingdom. Raised by the Coronian priests, creatures called “Ngapoko” use dream energy to lay eggs, which they then scatter throughout the world. The eggs contain Dream Stones, restorative items, and sometimes even people – nightmare victims who were en route to the Moon Kingdom, but fell off course and were saved.

La-Lakoosha ~ Kingdom of Tranquility The La-Lakoosha Kingdom of Tranquility is a peaceful country, where those devoted to the goddess Claire reside. The ravine leading to Claire Moa Temple features caves lined with colossal glowing mushrooms – the light from which paints the rock walls a mystical viridian.

Joilant ~ Kingdom of Joy The entire kingdom a gargantuan theme park, Joilant is a place of ceaseless fun and laughter. Comprised of circus tents, roller coasters, and much more, the sheer number of attractions is mind-boggling. But when fun is the sole priority, safety, inevitably…is not.

Volk ~ Kingdom of Discord The Volk Kingdom of Discord is a perilous country where the flames of war are ever burning. Volk’s people been fighting constantly, most do not even remember what they are fighting for. It is the most technologically advanced of all the Lunatean kingdoms, with countless furnaces and factories stretching well into the horizon.

Mira-Mira ~ Kingdom of Indecision The Mira-Mira Kingdom of Indecision is a kingdom of snow and ice where outsiders are unwelcome. Its inhabitants lead quiet and austere lives. While its sights are undeniably pristine, an air of loneliness pervades all. A festival in honour of tomorrow is solemnly celebrated year-round.
