Hello! I have a questions about TIT!
I heard Dan sings a song? Does he have a nice voice? Did he sing as a joke? Was it a good song?
Did you go alone? Did you get to meet them?
Any information is fine, I'm just also very excited ^-^
hi!!
yes, they both sing! it starts out as sort of jokey, as in dan brings out a ukulele and jokes that it’s not an apology. phil says it should be and dan says we should be the ones apologizing to them (and in toronto we all yelled “sorry!” lol). dan starts singing and phil joins in and it’s about a minute long of the cute little ukulele song, then dan smashes it on the ground and tells the dj to drop the beat. it then turns into unironically such a good song??!!?? it’s definitely my favourite out of all the tour songs, and the dance is really fun too!
dan does have a good voice, they both do! i think they took vocal lessons for this, because their voices have both really improved since ii and even wad. the second part of the song isn’t jokey, it’s more like ii/tatinof in that it’s a full performance with an instrumental backing and a dance (there’s also auto tune in the vocal backing that scratches my brain really well, but they do sing live too!)
i technically went alone in that i bought just one ticket, but i met friends through twitter! my seatmate and i dmed for months beforehand so we were comfortable with each other which was so great, and some people from the titronto gc (about 8 of us) met at the mall before the show!
i did meet them, yes!!! it was my first time meeting them and i can go into detail about that if you or anybody else is interested, they are incredibly sweet and it was the most amazing thing ever.
i hope you have so much fun when you go - i’m assuming you’re going since you said you’re excited!!! i think it’s their best tour yet, and they worked very hard to make it as incredible as it is 🖤💙

✶ . AVOS ◞ ‎ …    ! is a five-member boy group formed by APRICUS CULTURE on january 9, 2014. the group was assembled through the 2013 survival show, GENERATION: AVOS, through which all five members were chosen for the final lineup. the show experienced immense success among the viewing public, breaking previous survival show ratings in favor of the 35 initial trainees.
the final lineup was decided by a 50/50 split of judge input as well as votes from the general public. announced in the final episode of the show, the five members: SANGHYUK, CARTER, IAN, ROMEO, and HWASEONG, had all done considerably well throughout the show's airing with carter in particular being ranked first throughout its duration.
the group made their official debut on january 9, 2014, with the mini-album, SENTIMENTAL, lead by the title track, BLUES OF SENTIMENTS. the debut project received praise as it was made public that the members were largely involved with the creation of the record. their reputation as a self-producing group would continue to be their most powerful draw. nicknamed the 'golden group', their famous midas touch success saw them quickly rise through the ranks becoming their label's most-profitable group, overtaking their successors, NYX and LETALIS in 2016.
much of their success has come wrought with controversy, often self-inflicted by the members themselves. interestingly, their scandals have never seemed to dent their reputation as a powerhouse group, frequently attributed to the pr genius of apricus culture and their hold over the news cycle.
after their record-breaking stadium world tour in 2020, avos entered a highly publicized hiatus in order to focus on solo activities while establishing their sub-label as part of their contract renewal negotiations. this sub-label, STUDIO AVOS, would become avos' main management firm for both group and solo activities as of 2021.

after graduating from high school, sanghyuk moved to seoul in pursuit of an engineering degree, using his dance experience to make money in order to alleviate his mother's financial burdens. he would be discovered by apricus culture training manager, YOO JOOEUN, who managed to convince him to sign on as a back-up dancer for soloists NINE and JIOH from 2011 to 2013. following the departure of a trainee who was scheduled to appear on the survival show, GENERATION: AVOS, sanghyuk earned a last minute spot while receiving vocal lessons in between filming.

CARTER KIM, better known by his stage name CARTER, is a korean-canadian dancer and vocalist. carter was born in toronto, canada on october 15, 1993, to bradley kim, a museum director, and joyce kim, a hotel manager. from an early age, his parents did their best to raise both carter and his sister, cassandra, in the way they believed would best benefit the twins. though their parents were both second-generation korean-canadians, they made sure their children stayed in touch with their korean roots, spending summers in korea and celebrating traditional holidays.
while spending a summer in korea with their cousins, the siblings were introduced to k-pop groups and began growing a love for the industry. eventually, cassandra tricked carter into auditioning for GEMINI INC. in 2010. though both siblings passed the audition, carter was hesitant to accept the offer. after an ultimatum from his parents, carter decided to move to seoul with his sister in order to support her dreams though he was still skeptical.
after a few years of training, carter gained a reputation for his aptitude for both dancing and singing and was selected to take part in GENERATION: AVOS. while he considered it to be an honor, he notably struggled with the korean language and customs throughout the show especially after the departure of his sister from the label. despite this, he managed to rank first consistently throughout the show.
carter was the first member selected to debut in the show's final group: AVOS in december of 2013. currently, carter is the MAIN DANCER, LEAD VOCALIST, and CENTER of the south korean boy group avos, which debuted under APRICUS CULTURE in 2014. carter takes an active role in the production of avos' music with credits on a majority of the group's songs under the producer name MOOD:SUN.

MOON WONHYUK, better known by his stage name IAN, is a korean-american singer and actor. ian was born to his parents in the midst of his mother's medical residency in incheon, south korea on january 29, 1994. shortly after his birth, ian's father took up a position as chief of pediatric surgery at a hospital in singapore to better provide for the family. the moons suddenly moved to dallas, texas, around ian's seventh birthday for unknown reasons.
the sudden move became even stranger after he was adopted by his father's younger brother and his new wife in late 2003 when ian was nine years old. despite this, ian went on to excel both academically and socially in suburban dallas. his natural athleticism awarded him a scholarship to attend duke university to play basketball for the institution. unfortunately, after sustaining a career-threatening injury halfway through his first season with the university, ian forfeited his scholarship citing mental health. with his persuasion of his aunt, ian moved back to south korea to audition for APRICUS CULTURE, to satisfy his life-long interest in music.
after a photo of ian was leaked to the public as a trainee, he was added to the survival show's lineup. despite early popularity for his looks and magnetic personality, ian dropped to the near bottom of the rankings during the second half of the competition. after being saved from near elimination by a judge vote, ian just barely edged his way into the final lineup during the last two episodes.
ian was the the last member selected to debut in the show's final group: AVOS in december of 2013. currently, ian is the MAIN VOCALIST, SUB RAPPER, and VISUAL of the south korean boy group avos, which debuted under apricus culture in 2014. ian is the third most credited songwriter of the group and has sustained notoriety as a successful solo artist, actor, and brand ambassador for prada.

romeo had always shown an inclination for music having received piano, cello, and violin lessons throughout his childhood and into his teenage years. through his parents' support, romeo decided to audition for several companies in 2008, eventually being signed to train at APRICUS CULTURE that same year. after several years of training, romeo was picked to appear on the survival show GENERATION: AVOS in 2013.

EUN HWASEONG, better known by his stage name, HWASEONG, is a south korean rapper and songwriter. hwaseong was born to park yowon, a former idol who later became an actress, and oh hajun, a celebrity chef on december 16, 1995 in anyang, south korea. due to the controversy surrounding his scandalous conception, hwaseong's mother was forced out of her former group before eventually being redeemed in the public eye after marrying renowned comedian, lee jiseong in 1999.
a young hwaseong and his younger half-sister were exposed to the entertainment industry quite early. most notably, hwaseong made his public debut in 1999 with his parents after their marriage as part of a reality tv series. encouraged to explore his creative senses from a young age, hwaseong quickly picked up multiple instruments by the time he was 10 years old, landing him a spot in an international premier children's classical orchestra at just 11 years old.
his success with the children's orchestra caught the attention of APRICUS CULTURE creative director, JUN JAEHEE, who convinced his mother to allow him to join the company's training program in 2007. hwaseong easily managed to succeed within the rigorous training system, nabbing features on his senior labelmates' songs beginning in 2010.
eventually, he was chosen to appear on the survival show, GENERATION: AVOS in 2013 and became the second confirmed member to join the final lineup. currently, hwaseong is the LEAD RAPPER and SUB VOCALIST of the south korean boy group AVOS, which debuted under apricus culture in 2014. hwaseong is the group's primary songwriter under the penname PLUTO.

✧ ⸻ welcome to infinite entertainment! it's NA 'AXEL' YUCHAN, who is the MAIN DANCER of INDIGO. i’ve heard whispers that the 24 year old is pretty INDUSTRIOUS but lowkey CAPRICIOUS. also, doesn’t he remind you of CHOI YEONJUN?
Tumblr media
good evening everyone! u can call me klee and i'm excited to write with you all! i go by they/them and i'm currently residing in the eastern timezone. i didn't have anything ready because applying was just something i did on impulse so please bear with me as i try to get everything done by friday ( wishful thinking ). i'd like to introduce you to a revamped child of mine named AXEL, the main dancer of indigo and infinite entertainment's resident Just Some Guy™. underneath the cutoff you'll gain access to more information about yuchan as well as some plot ideas that are bouncing around in my head! please like this post if you're interested in plotting and thank you in advance if you decide to read my intro!

✧ ⸻ i. 𝑳𝑰𝑵𝑲𝑺 .
profile, connections, wanted relationships.
✧ ⸻ ii. 𝑫𝑬𝑻𝑨𝑰𝑳𝑺 .
full name :: axel yuchan na
korean name :: 나유찬
nickname :: known professionally as axel, his english name, but he doesn't mind being called whatever
date of birth :: march 29, 1999
zodiac :: aries sun, cancer moon, scorpio rising
place of birth :: toronto, canada
gender :: cis male, uses he / him pronouns
orientation :: pansexual, demiromantic
height :: 183 cm, 6ft
languages :: english ( native ), korean ( native ), japanese ( conversational )
vocal inspiration :: a.c.e's kim byeongkwan
✧ ⸻ iii. 𝑺𝑼𝑴𝑴𝑨𝑹𝑰𝒁𝑬𝑫 𝑺𝑻𝑶𝑹𝒀 .
began dancing at the age of five, taking ballet classes at canada's national ballet school because his mom wanted all of her children to become professional ballet dancers like her. his dad was on the fence about it, not necessarily opposing the idea of him and his two sisters doing it but more open to supporting them if they decided they wanted to do something else in the future. his mom was less thrilled by the possibility but would eventually come around when all three of them chose to pursue different paths later in life.
one day when he was eleven he attended one of the open hip hop classes his older sister was taking, and immediately liked it better. the music was the main reason he wanted to continue taking classes but when he initially started, he felt challenged and ya boi likes a challenge. he still attended the ballet school, dedicated to becoming a professional ballet dancer like his mom wanted him to, but he knew deep down his interests were shifting and his older sister knew it too.
when he found out that new star entertainment wanted him to audition in person all the way in seoul, once the confusion subsided as to how they even knew about him ( his sister submitted an online audition in his stead ), he was more excited to audition than nervous despite not knowing much about the industry. he didn't know what he was getting into, but the idea of not becoming a ballet dancer was exciting — doors he didn't know existed were opening for him.
axel is nothing if not a hard worker. he is someone who doesn't like to disappoint, and especially since his parents had allowed him to completely switch gears and become a trainee with an undetermined future ( they didn't tell him that tho. they just let him think there was no way he wouldn't debut ).
he received a lot of criticism as a rookie for not being able to sing live very well. he put more power and energy into the choreography and didn't think he needed to be the greatest singer since the other members were hard-carrying. he did what he could to improve after ( what he considers to be ) the disaster of his debut, he attended more singing lessons and visited the practice rooms almost every single day to practice his live singing while dancing.
has been caught in several different dating rumors over the eight years he's spent as an idol. only one relationship was real ( they broke up almost immediately after ) but the others were either with his close friend or someone he didn't know that fans? connected out of pure coincidence.
he began an acting career three years ago, appearing in minor roles and supporting roles. he began taking acting lessons at the insistence of his company, wanting him to try something new and expand his skillset. although he knows he's not the best idol-actor the industry has to offer, he hopes that he could land a lead role in the near future to really test his abilities.
✧ ⸻ iv. 𝑯𝑬𝑨𝑫𝑪𝑨𝑵𝑶𝑵𝑺 .
HUGE fan of star wars. he collects a lot of merch and ( unfortunately ) can talk for hours about anything related to it. he's too interested in the lore and has definitely talked about it on a livestream for hours. he used to receive a lot of star wars related gifts from fans prior to no longer accepting gifts from them, and he keeps it all either at his grandparents' house in seoul, or in his childhood bedroom in toronto. ( woozi talking for 6 hours about anime is literally axel talking about star wars )
also he's just a huge movie bro in general ?? he LOVES movies and sometimes it feels like he has seen every movie in existence. ( for legal reasons i'm joking but he does definitely have an extensive knowledge. ) he constantly invites friends out to see movies or goes by himself ... there's really no movie he wouldn't watch. his favorite movies include jurassic park, the host, spirited away, a silent voice, arrival, in the mood for love, and a more recent addition is godzilla minus one.
a little bit too active on his social media accounts. he's the most active on tiktok and instagram, and constantly overshares like he's on his private accounts and talking to his closest friends. he had always been social and active on indigo's official sns accounts, and it seemingly got worse when indigo as a group were allowed to have their own personal accounts. he's the type of idol who is never beating the 'in a parasocial relationship w fans' allegations.
he is known for being apparently passive about the criticisms that come his way every now and then, and he wants to believe that he isn't bothered at all by hate when in reality it eats away at him in an unhealthy way. during his rookie years where he spent his free time working hard on improving his skills, he had gotten sick more often than not by overworking his 17yo body more than it could handle. sometimes he falls back into his bad habits when he really lets himself be bothered, but he's also gotten better at pulling himself out of that state ( also the other members help out a lot too ).
he became a first-time cat dad in 2021 when he adopted his daughter as a kitten. her name is sun and she is a russian blue that he fostered for a while to trial animal therapy, but she ended up being a foster failure and he adopted her after a month. he is known for donating to local animal rescue centers and hopes to adopt a rescued feline in the near future.
axel can be best described as ... warm. warm in the sense that as a person, he feels like someone you've been friends with for years even if you've only known him for a month. he's typically easy-going and more-often-than-not a Yes Man. but he's also warm in the sense that he's a simmering pot that's one second away from reaching its boiling point should something stress him out. he wants to believe he's nonconfrontational but the truth is that he feels the need to fight should he feel wronged.
he's close with both of his sisters, and the three of them working in the entertainment industry has only made them closer. sometimes he appears on his younger sister's youtube videos or tiktoks when they're in seoul or if he's in los angeles. he sees them in-person at least four times a year, but they constantly facetime and do so once a week. he's also close with his parents, and much closer to his lax father despite being nearly a carbon copy of his mom in terms of personality.
he grew up in wealth, his dad being a defense attorney and his mom being an ex-professional ballet dancer turned ballet teacher in toronto's most prestigious ballet school. it's safe to say that he spends more than he should on a monthly basis buying things he doesn't necessarily need. while he doesn't go announcing his wealth to the world or even tries to show off in front of peers, he shows it silently in the way he constantly offers to pay for everything when out with friends or in the way he constantly buys gifts and lil trinkets for friends when he finds something that reminds him of them.
✧ ⸻ v. 𝑪𝑶𝑵𝑵𝑬𝑪𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵 𝑰𝑫𝑬𝑨𝑺 .
the besties!! it would be so cute to have a cute lil squad similar to the 97 line. i feel like having a good group of genuine friends is very much needed so just know this is the most wanted thing!!
a co-host during his time as a mc?? could be a more recent gig for them or something from a couple years ago, it could be fun doing a thread of them working together behind the scenes.
"exes" ?? the individuals he was caught in a dating rumor with ... they could've been close friends that grew apart after the rumor appeared in articles, they could still be super close regardless of the past, they could've been strangers who either became close or stayed strangers ... possibilities r endless.
sibling-like relationships ... i love found family tropes, and please know any friend of axel's is just treated like family when they meet his parents and sisters.
ex-friends!! i kinda lowkey love the drama and i feel like despite axel's craving for peace in his daily life some things are just unavoidable. i think it would be interesting if they were forced to work together again and see if they could become friends again or just continue to drift further away from each other.
maybe like actual exes? axel is absolutely a hopeless romantic and wants to go all in when it comes to relationships, but i feel like him being someone who is so hyper-focused on his job as well ... i feel like both these things can cause problems but u can hear me out on that later.
having a backbone builder / positive influence is someone i think that axel really needs in life, someone who could remind him that life is too short to spend most of it hating himself or criticizing himself ... i feel like he just needs an angel on his shoulder tbh.
i'm open for anything so if none of these fit your vibe dw friend we'll think of smth!!

Leah Jane, the soulful voice emerging from Toronto, shares her highly anticipated EP, Nottingham Drive. The final track, “The Fury,” stands out as the only song not released ahead of time as a pre-release single, offering fans a raw and infatuating listening experience. Known for her passionate lyrics and dreamy alt-pop sound, Leah Jane’s EP is now available to stream on all major platforms. “The Fury” delves deep into Leah Jane’s personal struggles with societal expectations. “This song is less about a man and more about what it means to be a ‘man.’ I was always told I wasn’t assertive or strong enough to succeed. It made me sad to think that I needed to change my softness to get what I wanted. I love this song because it has helped me work through my anger and resentment towards people and industries that make me feel that way,” she reveals. The track’s classic piano and guitar slides provide a timeless backdrop to her overall message, making it a standout piece that listeners will resonate with on an emotional level. The track was written by Leah Jane, produced by Selfish Things’ members Alex Biro and Mike Tompa, mixed by Josh Bowman, and mastered by Joao Carvalho. Nottingham Drive, named after the street where Leah Jane grew up in St. John’s, Newfoundland, is a heartfelt homage to her roots and childhood memories. She talks about the nostalgia she gets from this name, saying “Nottingham Drive was the street where I grew up in St. John’s, and I have nothing but fond memories of that place. I’m grateful for that. I had the chance to write these songs in comforting spaces, surrounded by some of my closest friends, and delve into the stories behind them, creating even more cherished moments.” The EP is flourishing with that sentimental vibe, capturing her childhood years while inviting listeners to reflect on their treasured moments. Leah Jane hopes that her music will resonate with people from all walks of life, much like it did with her younger self. Leah Jane is a talented musician from St. John’s, Newfoundland, currently based in Toronto, Ontario. Getting her start in entertainment as an actress in roles such as in Lifetime’s House of Deadly Lies, she has received recognition for her talents with a nomination for Best Actress at the “Short Stop Film Fest” and the RBC Emerging Musician/Canadian Walk of Fame scholarship in 2019. Her music journey began at a young age with piano lessons, vocal training, and eventually guitar, influenced by her father who gifted her first guitar at 12. Her music is a unique blend of dreamy alt-pop and indie-pop, influenced by artists like Taylor Swift, Maggie Rogers, and Kacey Musgraves, as well as from her world as a stage actor in the greater Toronto area. Leah Jane has received acclaim for her empowering messages and soulful music from numerous esteemed outlets, including Ones to Watch, Exclaim! Magazine, GRRRL Music, and CBC’s St. John’s Morning Show. Leah Jane’s EP Nottingham Drive and the single “The Fury” are now available on all streaming platforms. This EP, a reflection of her personal growth and artistic evolution, promises to hook listeners with its emotional depth and relatable themes. In support of her debut EP release, she will be performing a hometown release show at The Cave in Toronto on September 24th, with Ethansroom & Misty Blue opening. 251: Nicolás Jaar // Sirens
Tumblr media
Sirens Nicolas Jaar 2016, Other People
Nicolás Jaar’s Space is Only Noise was the first electronic album to truly obsess me, and I remember going out the day the shipment of Sirens was due to drop at one of my local shops in Toronto feeling geekily breathless about whether anyone would snipe one of the coveted Deluxe Editions with the lotto scratch ticket cover and US quarter (legitimately one of the cooler sleeve concepts I’ve seen) before I could get there. (This was before I knew you could just… ask the shop to hold a copy for you.) Part of my anxiousness was down to the issues Jaar had with an uncleared Ray Charles sample on Space cut “I Got A,” which ultimately led to the track being pulled from subsequent pressings of the record. At the risk of sounding like the most congested kind of nerd, I am so accustomed to the pacing of the album as I first heard it that the song’s absence is so distracting I have trouble listening all the way through the expurgated version. Well, I did get my first pressing of Sirens, and then Jaar released an expanded digital version the following year that he described as what it should have been all along.” The moral of the story is unclear, other than that being prissy about physical media is a sucker’s game.
youtube
Anyway, (any) Sirens is great. I don’t know if anybody in the game today has a more varied or interesting palette of percussion sounds than Jaar—whether it’s Ricardo Villalobos-esque burps and burbles, samples of shattering glass, or the marching walls of drums that drive “Three Sides of Nazareth,” they all bear the mark of the producer’s meticulousness. Like the other records he’s released under his own name (versus the dancefloor-oriented Against All Logic), much of Sirens has a floating quality, nebulously structured songs that rely more on texture than melody or momentum. The body of “No” brings to mind the muffled, dissociated way things sound when your ears get plugged by water or altitude, but when it finally shifts into a swaying, Latin rhythm it sounds as crisp as the world does when your ears finally pop. Despite its downtempo overall vibe, Sirens does find Jaar flirting more directly with popular music than he really has since: “History Lesson” offers an uncharacteristically swooning vocal from Jaar (and predicts the minimalist soul Brittany Howard would perfect a few years later on Jaime), while “Wildflowers” feels like his stab at the ambient R&B/future garage style of a Burial or a James Blake.
I only pull Sirens off the shelf when I have the space to really lose myself in its grooves, but in the right mood it can be transfixing. It offers further proof that Jaar continues to be (somewhat) quietly one of the major artists of the past fifteen years.

Interview: Suzie talk with Josh Rabenold about songwriting, life and new releases for 2023
Suzie talked with Josh Rabenold in a new interview on his youtube channel, where they talked about Suzie's music process and creation, the story of The Narrative, and how being a mom affected the process of music creation and the future of the band.
youtube
Suzie had inspiration and people in her family into music, one of them being her grandmother, "My grandma was really musical when I was little and so she taught me songs all the time," she spoke with Josh. Around 3 years old, her dad's mom would teach Russian folk songs and put her in front of an audience of friends to play alongside.
Answering to the question of when she started into music, she responded as it was a natural thing that happened when she was younger, "I was like singing and putting on performances and making my parents pay me money for tickets at a very young age, had that entrepreneurial spirit right from the get-go" she said. Also she affirmed that music was a good part in her life when she learned to play the instruments for the first time, such as a piano from friends in Canada that were taking lessons when she would spent the summer vacations in Toronto, "they were taking lessons and I would be at their house and then they would teach me what they learned and then I would try to play all. I don't think I was very good at it but that's probably what really started me," she continued. The encouragement came from her parents that got her a piano chair and she started to practice and get better at it.
When it comes to songwriting ideas, Suzie said that she would have more than 9 pages of words that she never would look back, "I might I have this terrible habit of putting lyrics into a doc. I keep like the stream of conscience and so it becomes just like this extended nine page document that's just trash and I always keep it in case I think I'm gonna find something good in there and I've I've never found anything good in there it's never happened and it won't it's never happened," she continues laughing. The process of letting go of lyrics also is discussed through the interview, where she says that feeling comfortable in deleting things is a good thing and the process of even not feeling inspired, to sit down and write things without any use is a habit that she keep to be active into songwriting.
As she got older, the poetry started to flow over her life, writing plays, parodies and songs that later with help of friends, started to get together melodically and sonically. Her first project before The Narrative was around when she was a senior on NYU, where she released four songs (Away, Bright Light, Fall and Cover and Penny Station). This four songs had help of Will Noon at the time playing in Straylight Run and Fun, who introduced her to Bryan Russell to help her produce the vocals, which produces The Narrative's songs and is married to her.
She told Josh about the story of The Narrative with the first meeting with Jesse and her happening through Craigslist as he was looking for musicians and after few conversations, they found out that they attended the same school, had mutual friends, lived minutes apart from each other. At that time, Jesse was playing into a New York project playing guitar, "[He was] trying to figure out where he belonged because he wanted to play music," she remembered, and the band started to get form. The first song recorded with Jesse was 'End All' (marked as 'End All Arrival' on January Window - older name for the band on Myspace) released later in their self-titled album in 2010.
The song "Eyes Closed" was discussed in the interview. The song, according to Suzie was the first to be worked by them. She said that Jesse felt that the lyrics "Oh my god, you're beautiful", where strange to be kept in the song, but it stayed and, she confirms, "I mean, that little line connects to so many people like I see people referencing that line all the time, this moment in this song it's just, like, it's probably a little cringy but it's like the good kind," and holds the title of most listened song by The Narrative with more than 5 million streams over platforms.
Around the time the band released the EP and songs started to get attention over the former AlternativePunk.net (chorus.fm), they got the chance to be featured on Warped Tour prior to the release of the self-titled and supporting the album on this tour and playing on the 2011 edition.
Following of the band's next releases they started to record the second studio album, 'Golden Silence' in 2012. For supporting the LP, the band released an acoustic/alternative version of their previous songs on the EP "B-Sides and Seasides" in april of the same year. The album, took longer than expected to be finished due to the band's arrangements production of orchestral instruments. Also due to personal and musical projects of Suzie's started playing with Chris Carrabba's side project 'Twin Forks' and touring during their debut year. Jesse at this time released his solo album 'here, sit, stay' and from 2013 to 2015 the band got production on a slow tracking process, with the album being released on December 2, 2016.
With "Monoliths" in 2021 and from the release of "Little Boys Break Hearts", the band will release a new song to close a three-acoustics-folky-songs project and finish the year with it.
As posted by Jesse on Medium, the band plans to release new songs in 2023, that are different from the three ones. Suzie explained that the process of the band's recording have changed into a more consistent system, "Jesse has gotten more into production over the last couple of years, so, what now the process is, I've been writing a song and putting some basic stuff in logic, a drum pattern or something like a program drums and a synth pad or something and then just vocals and sending it to him, maybe with a little bit more but usually pretty minimal." With that, she mention that the production starts with Jesse adding some guitars over it and vocals to so, send it to Bryan to, "take out some stuff or put some stuff in and then we'll usually re-record vocals with him, and anything that just didn't come out clean enough will record in his studio," she says.
"The first one of that methodology will come out in 2023," she reveals. "Right now, [there are] maybe like six or so songs that fit this new vibe, [...] then this new stuff will come out in 2023 and will be more, I think, kind of chill Indie pop."
More information to the following song from "Little Boys Break Hearts" will be posted soon.

biography
triggers: mention of substance abuse
ash kwon is born lucky. loving parents are something he always gets to take as a given. brought into the life of a newly married couple only a few months after their wedding, ash is granted this luck in the form of not only love, but a comfortable family inheritance recently passed down that keeps the family out of the financial troubles they would have been in marrying and having a kid so young otherwise. the inheritance allows the young couple to make their roots amongst overpriced row houses, and despite meeting in college and having ash so young, they do well for themselves in their respective, budding careers.
but the parents of the seo-kwon family are busy young people who hadn’t planned on having a kid. they shower ash with the abundance of love they have in them, but his young days often place ash in the care of family friends or a babysitter. it’s in these hours spent discovering that ash begins to show an interest in music. he only has to ask before he’s subsequently enrolled in every class he wants. his time shifts. now, it’s all spent behind a piano or with a violin in his grasp or in a dance studio, and the lucky thing is, the countless hours that pass don’t dampen his passion in the slightest. he only loves the echo of the keys or the sting in his muscles all the more for the time he spends with it, the way it raises him. his teachers laud him as a natural, but he spends hours upon hours practicing to be better. his drive comes not at the behest of his parents’ search for greatness like many of his peers in the youth orchestras and the dance recitals, but of his own volition.
before he’s even out of elementary school, his days are spent flitting between school, piano lessons, violin lessons, dance lessons, and eventually guitar lessons. it gets harder to keep up with when his mom’s career takes off and she’s requested abroad. often, ash travels with her and they’ll leave san francisco (and ash’s dad) behind for a season or two to make a temporary home in toronto or tokyo or queenstown. in some ways, the world becomes his playground. in others, he makes a best friend in loneliness before he’s entered double digits.
for all the traveling he does following his mother’s shadow in the gaps of his home life, he never steps foot into south korea until he makes the decision to on his own. though both of his parents are only a couple of generations separated from the home country of their grandparents, korean is only spoken around the seo-kwon household in bits and pieces, mostly heard when ash’s dad is on the phone with friends and distant family members. it isn’t something either parent really teaches ash in the brief times they have together when that sort of thing would attach to him the easiest. in what little he does pick up from his dad, there’s no music or films to cling to. the entire world of korean music goes unnoticed by ash for most of his life until a winter trip to los angeles brings him stumbling upon news of an audition for a music label based in south korea.
curiosity turns into determination. the appeal is obvious; making it in the western music scene won’t be easy when he lacks the typical justin bieber appeal and the ceiling of connections he doesn’t have stand in his way. he knows he wants to do music and so do his parents, so though they’re hesitant when he tells them he wants to stay in los angeles a little while longer to audition, they relent. ash spends hours over the days before the audition practicing his audition material and trying to better his basic korean, just in case everything goes right.
he auditions before the end of their trip, with little knowledge of dimensions entertainment or their relative lack of success in comparison to bigger agencies he could shoot for.
a short time later, he gets the news that they want him to come train to debut as a singer in korea.
it’s a fast turn around. they’re willing to take him on as soon as he turns thirteen over his winter break from school, and the holidays allow his parents to take time off to take him to seoul, so next thing he knows, he’s being dropped off in a foreign city by his parents with little knowledge of the language and no one there he knows. at first, it feels like a coming-of-age movie, but the true difficulties of his situation soon become apparent.
only a few weeks after his arrival, he’s thrown onto a television show to compete as the youngest of a team against a debut group from another company that seems so much more experienced and prepared than them. he’s only had a few lessons under dimensions at this point, but apparently his audition rounds and one evaluation is enough to shoulder him with a primary vocal spot as well as spots in the dance and rap line-ups. he’s not sure why he’s chosen, whether dimensions has a shortage of main vocal-material trainees and they paint him as an all-arounder to justify his minimal training, or whether someone had suddenly up and left and they needed a quick replacement.
the competition is a lot to handle being thrown at him so suddenly when he can’t even understand what the instructors and judges and his teammates are saying most of the time. dimensions touts him by his middle name, taeyong, because his identity has become kwon taeyong upon dimensions’ insistence he immerse himself in the language and culture of the industry he’s trying to debut under and he hasn’t had the courage to argue yet. he’s on the verge of tears constantly, and when they lose, he feels like he’d been the lacking part of the puzzle. the judges were never going to choose them when he could only communicate in broken sentences and he hadn’t been able to shake the criticism of his pronunciation when singing.
the show ends and he wants to leave, but he’s under contract. at first, he sinks low into dark waters, but he eventually works his way out and tries his best to fast track his learning of korean. trying to learn a new language isn’t that easy, though and he remains isolated from all of the people around him he can’t communicate with. while that makes it easier to focus on his training when his social life is so barren, the feeling that he’s made a mistake lingers. over the next two years, there are multiple occasions that ash rethinks his decision, but he manages to persevere through. slowly but surely, he learns korean and finds songwriting helps better his understanding of the language through putting it to music. more than anything else, it helps and he’s able to keep his spot in the debut lineup for dimensions’ next group, not only as the youngest member, but as the main vocal, lead dancer, and a rapper — an all-arounder with the burden of extra hours in the recording studio and the practice room.
debuting doesn’t wipe away all of his hardships of his trainee days. once criticized by trainers for being too reserved, ash tries to be more outgoing like he’d been told to, but instead, during their first few rounds of promotions, he’s criticized by some for being attention-seeking. some of it’s excused because he’s a foreigner and the maknae, but others deride him for looking for more attention even with the lines and center time he gets. it’s not the first time in his life ash is subjected to being picked apart by the public. after all, his unpreparedness for next generation had had antis swarming to him like flies, but now it’s on an even larger scale.
ash resigns himself to a background role when he’s not on stage. they’re right — he does get enough attention on stage; he should let others with less spotlight have their moments offstage. he’s too discouraged and anxious to sell the image of the cute and excitable maknae, so the company shapes an image of the artistic type, quiet not because of rejection but because he’s a deep thinker, mature for his age and endlessly talented. it leads to fans forgetting how young he is at times and any barrier on treating him like another hunk of meat to fantasize over fades away. when his maknae status is acknowledged, it’s to point out he’s a maknae who doesn’t really act like it because he’s too attractive on stage or has so much responsibility on his shoulders.
their debut concept feels like trying on clothes that don’t fit. whether they’re going on about the pressures of a school system he’s barely experienced in some kind of costume-ized version of american hip hop or flashing theirs abs as they boast about their tepid success, most of the time, it doesn’t feel very authentic. older now than he had been at the beginning of his journey, all of fifteen or sixteen, he doesn’t know what he’d expected from being in a boy group, but being so intent to prove himself had left him unsatisfied once debut actually came.
he keeps to himself, spending time focusing on becoming a better performer and singer and writing songs to work through everything he can’t share with anyone else. he finds reprieve from pressure in his personal life, but even that’s hard as fans became comfortable overstepping boundaries. he’s the youngest, so they only want to take care of him. he’s mysterious, so they only want to know more about him. familiar faces show up in places they shouldn’t be. he goes from feeling eternally alone to never really feeling alone anywhere.
dimensions decides it’s time for a concept coming at youth from a different angle, and this time, ash gets to have his piece by reflecting his personal feelings of youth into the writing of polaris’s title track for their new era.
from there, they rise. the public takes notice and their fanbase grows. but with fans filling concert halls and fan signs, there comes as well fans waiting around every corner, moving into apartments across from his and chasing his car with theirs, it’s hard to keep much private for too long, even keeping his head down. he has a bad feeling it will be the undoing of him.
between his positions within polaris, his blossoming potential as a songwriter that earns him his first credit on a #1 song within his teenage years, and the looks he grows into, he’s positioned for a solo career once polaris has won their first daesang. he grows into his own identity and his own sound, but as polaris’s stardom rises to unprecedented heights in both south korea and his home country, the pressure of expectation starts to feel suffocating.
dimensions is fully invested in keeping his slate clean, so when a dating rumor bubbles to the surface with a popular actress and a claim of a three-year relationship based on alleged lovestagrams and unverified sightings and couple clothes, dimensions’ team is quick to deny. he’s told to keep his head down, and he tries his best, but an adolescence spent locked in practice rooms in a foreign city, voiceless, starts to bubble up into an irrepressible need for freedom and his search for it gets him into a little trouble.
they’re even bigger now, though, and when another rumors spring forth at the hands of suspicious photos of him with someone the public is less warm to, the company has to work a little harder. they go to work taking down posts and burying the rumor. there are communities starving for dirt, though, and they eventually have to issue a statement asking fans to stay out of his personal life because his friendships are his private matter. when more incriminating pictures leak from a nosey fan or anti finding their way into her private instagram, dimensions doubles down and cuts and pastes together half-truths to feed a story to the press that’s anything but the assumptions everyone makes when they see the pictures.
between dating rumors and increasing stage appearances where he doesn’t seem all there that spark speculation from laziness to in-group conflict to celebrity disease, it becomes an all-too-easy hobby of some galleries to concoct motivations for hate, and concentrated hate campaigns become something he’s expected to simply deal with. if child star discontent hadn’t been enough, it’s then that misery really sets in. he’s already acting out enough to cause trouble with dimensions, but he swears he’ll leave the company when their contract renewals come up to preserve his own sanity.
contract renewal discussions eventually do begin and dimensions entertainment should have the uphill battle of their careers, but instability and heartbreak and spending too much time under the influence of substances and the people surrounding him with vested interest in his contract renewal lead to a period of weakness in which ash re-signs because what else does he have going for him?
he knows better, but he does it anyway.
throwing away his last shot at getting out shatters him completely when it sinks in past the mental haze and one hiatus comes after another because his body starts giving out alongside his mental health that’s been going for a while.
he’s only two years into his new contract and polaris still hasn’t peaked with their piling daesangs and international awards, but some fans begin suggesting he might as well leave the group.
he can’t say he disagrees, but he’d thrown that shot away.
counting down the days until he’s free from his self-imposed prison, he only hopes his head will be a little clearer the next time his fate is in his hands.
image & career
as the maknae of polaris, it was assumed he’d always be a little cuter than the others. it came with the territory of being first thrown into the spotlight weeks after his thirteenth birthday, but he was never that great at taking on the cute role, especially when he was offstage. at thirteen, he’d had little image at all since he rarely spoke during his time on next generation, but his looks branded him with an automatic cuteness. at fifteen, when he was better at communicating in korean, his baby face still sold it, with fans going on about his adorable oversized features, but he was too shy and introverted to be the aegyo machine they might have wanted. it wasn’t a major pitfall, as polaris’s concept in their early days was far from cute.
over the years, he grew up and little by little, more came out about him that shaped an image in the minds of fans. he was quiet, but he always had something to say about music, or a sensitive notion to share, or a musing just philosophical enough to have him branded as the quiet, romantic, and artistic type. fans had no problem with grasping onto his musical talents in singing and instruments and songwriting as his defining personality trait, and his positions branded him an all-arounder or an ace. a wunderkind, a prodigy, a genius.
by the time polaris was soaring to heights in the biggest music market in the world, he’d taken a few minor hits to his image as the baby of the group, but they had little affect on the multi-talented, golden ray of musical proclivity diehard fans made him out to be. the innocence fans had once wanted to attribute to him was harder to nail to him after a while, but adulthood painted a new look on him that looked even better, both in the light cast and in the sharpness of his jawbone. the idea of him as an artist got pushed harder and it defined him more than anything as he established himself as a solo artist.
halfway between rockstar and old hollywood rebel heartthrob and with a worldwide audience following his every move, the name taeyong holds more weight than it ever did before. now a man in his twenties, any lingering shards of innocence and cuteness have long been abandoned for a man molded around a rebel without a cause heartthrob. from the tattoos to the piercings to the self-written songs about heartbreak and longing to the brand deals selling sex appeal via calvin klein or versace eros, he fits to a t and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by consumers. he’s a fantasy to those who dream about fixing the tormented soul of an artist and an envy for those who find his lust-worthy cool something to be emulated.
faux leather jackets over white tees, an intense gaze under shaggy hair, designer silver and heartbreak on his sleeve — he’s a james dean gone gen z, trendy and edgy enough to appeal to those younger, with enough classic tall, dark, and handsome appeal to wrangle the hearts of older women, and cool enough to sell clothes and haircare to men his age.
taeyong’s branded sexy without trying, because of course he’s too busy in the studio to ever think about such a thing, and everything seems to come effortlessly to him. he’s a great singer, a good dancer, a rapper, picks up instruments like counting to ten, and writes and produces songs that move people or become hits or both.
an ideal dripped in honey and halos slipped out of his fingers years ago, but it’s turned out that leather and ripped jeans look better on him anyway.
future
triggers: mention of substance abuse
from the outside, it looks as though ash has achieved everything anyone could ever want. despite the dents in his image, he’s earned himself respect as an artist and a rising world star. ash has long lost the desire for world stardom, but he still, in some sense, wants to feel like he’s made it in his home country, and will continue to struggle deeply with the recognition the group has gotten on an international scale. the more famous they become, the harder it is for him to feel truly safe and anonymous anywhere.
ash is also struggling as he tries to recover from past issues that caused his recent hiatuses. substance abuse, mental illness, and the isolation of fame all contributed to him re-signing with dimensions when he didn’t really want to, so he’ll have to come to terms with that and try to find a way not to crack before he’s finally free of the life he’s re-signed himself back into despite his better judgment.
in his career, he’d like to step back out of the spotlight and focus on being a songwriter and producer, but again, polaris’s relentless stardom won’t allow that, so he’ll have to strike a balance. polaris’s music might be moving away from what he connects with, too, something he’ll have to face head-on at some point if he ever wants to find satisfaction in his career since he doesn’t want solo music to turn into his only true outlet. he’d like to write more for other groups and other artists and continue to express himself in his music, too.
