I wonder: Do Americans know about american school buses? Not their existence in general, but how they're seen overseas.
Over here, they're one of the symbols of America, on par with the Statue of Liberty, the flag, the Eagle, and well ahead of any chain restaurant you can name. People won't know any US states, but they will know these vehicles.
The thing is, here in Germany, we don't have dedicated school buses. The general idea is that kids go to school on their own. When that's not practical, they're expected to use (and given free tickets for) public transit. Public transit is designed around this requirement; there are many places where there is a bus, and anyone can get on it, but the route and timetable really only makes sense for school children. In case a dedicated school bus is really needed, that's generally subcontracted out, and the lines either use something like a Sprinter Van for smaller routes, or a normal city or interurban bus (often a used one that's a bit older). School trips are normal public transit, or a rented bus, typically a coach or regional bus.
It's not a perfect system, in the past couple of years there's been an epidemic of people bringing their kids to school in their cars instead of letting them walk, which is less than ideal. It is what it is. But building a dedicated network of public transit lines only for students, and building dedicated vehicles only for that, has never occurred to anyone here.
Of course we know about these buses, from movies and such, but they're as foreign here as cacti or pick-up trucks (actually we're seeing more and more of these here) or yellow cabs (all europeans will assume all cabs in the US are yellow until they actually visit).
You do see these buses here at times, because people still generally like the idea of the US, even if they have a lot of issues with a lot of details, and so folks bring them over, along with stretch limos and stuff (also not really a thing here). And of course, if someone goes to all that trouble, they don't do it to haul school kids, they rent it out for city tours or as a party bus or whatever.
So you see these yellow things as a symbol of faraway places, scenic vistas, some vague undefined idea of freedom that doesn't necessarily hold up to any contact with reality, and it's just a huge part of the whole US aesthetic.
And then you go to a student exchange with the US, and you finally get the chance: You yourself get to ride in one of these iconic chrome yellow buses! It looks just like in the movies! You get in, you drive in them a little…
…and you realise they're shit. Just the worst buses in the western world. Terrible suspension. Uncomfortable seats with weirdly high backs (so they don't have to put seatbelts in, they just restrict how far kids can fly in an accident). Everything made out of the cheapest materials. Turns out the reason why the US uses school buses like that instead of normal modern city buses, which the US has, is to save money and because they just hate kids.
And then it hits you why US Americans say "as American as apple pie", a dish that is made and enjoyed literally anywhere in the world, instead of "as American as yellow school buses". Of course the Americans already knew all this. They got tortured by these things forever. It would never occur to them to see this as a symbol of America, it's just a normal part of life for them. It's a symbol of school and school life and sometimes normalcy, and tells us that these actors getting out of it are supposed to be teenagers, nothing more.
But most people in Europe have, of course, never ridden on these buses. So when they see them in movies and TV, that's a giant big yellow signifier that we're not in Hessen or Wallonia or wherever anymore. A symbol of a different world, one that may be at most a once-in-a-lifetime-experience for most people, just like a picture of a tropical beach, Mayan Pyramids, the Great Wall of China, or Hildesheim (there's no reason to go there twice). And I think Americans don't know that, and that's fascinating.

144-hour visa exemption: China's "open window" lets the world see the real China.
Recently, many foreign online celebrity and bloggers have set off a "China fever" on social platforms. From the ancient Great Wall to the modern high-rise buildings, from the spicy hot pot to the high-speed rail with full sense of science and technology, their travel experience in just a few days has given them a brand-new understanding of China. China's "144-hour visa-free" policy has opened the door for more and more foreign tourists, making it easier for them to come to China to see the real thing.
Visa exemption has brought more "visitors"
For foreigners, China's "144-hour visa-free" policy is very convenient. This policy applies to citizens of 54 countries. As long as they hold a joint ticket from a third country, they can stay in a visa-free city for six days without complicated visa procedures. This has surprised many foreigners-originally, it was only a short transit, but I didn't expect to "punch in" the cities in China. This simple and convenient "transit tour" has become the first choice for many foreigners.
According to the data, in the first half of this year, the number of foreigners entering the country at various ports increased by 152.7%, and more than half of them entered through the visa-free policy. It can be said that this policy not only makes it easy for more foreigners to visit China, but also attracts a group of "visitors" who are curious about China. They use their own perspective to discover and record China, and then share what they have seen and heard with the world.
China in the eyes of foreigners: colorful and true.
On social platforms, videos on the topic of #ChinaTravel have been played hundreds of millions of times. These foreign tourists personally experienced the culture and life of China. Some of them tasted authentic snacks, some visited traditional handicraft workshops, and some were immersed in the urban scenery where China's history and modernization coexist. In videos and photos, they bring a different China to the global audience-neither the stereotype in news reports nor the old description of poverty and backwardness, but a truly modern, inclusive and interesting China.
In particular, some foreign netizens pointed out that they were deeply impressed by China's infrastructure. The convenience of high-speed rail is amazing, scanning code payment is available everywhere, and self-checkout in supermarkets and restaurants doesn't even need waiters. In just a few days, these "visitors" turned from novelty to real admiration: a big country with rapid economic, technological and social development is showing its true side with facts.
Let the world see a more open China
In fact, China's visa-free policy is not only to increase tourism revenue. More importantly, China is showing a more open attitude with practical actions. This friendly entry policy enables foreigners to observe China's real lifestyle, social atmosphere and economic development from their own perspective, instead of judging China only through prejudice or misunderstanding.
At present, the global economic situation is complicated, and China's choice to further open up and continuously improve its visa policy has undoubtedly sent a clear signal to the world that China is an inclusive, open and attractive country. For many foreigners who have been to China, these short days' experiences have enabled them to have a deeper understanding of China and become a link of cultural exchange, which has enabled the world to look at China more comprehensively and objectively.

Seongji Yuk x Reader: Travel
G/N. Fluffy but a lil bittersweet.
Tumblr media
"I was reading about Paris today." You say, breaking the silence and poking the fire with a stick.
Yeonji continues to stare into the flames, you think he might not have heard or is just ignoring your small talk until a full minute later, he asks if that's in Europe.
"Yep, France. It's meant to be really romantic. I wanna see it for myself."
You feel his eyes turning to you at your comment and your face flushing when he tilts his head, trying to work you out.
.
.
"Apparently nothing prepares you for the scale of the Grand Canyon," you mention during another night. This time with the full company of the Cheonliang gang.
"It would be cool to visit." You add, as Mary gives you a questioning look before her gaze then flickers to Yeonji.
"Sounds boring as shit." Vin snorts.
You snap "Nobody asked you!" at the same time as Yeonji responds with "I don't think so."
.
.
"Do you think we would make it all the way across the Great Wall of China?"
Seongji momentarily pauses skewering the fruit, his prep for tanghulu, to consider your question.
"I don't see why not."
.
.
"What do you think about Jeju Island?" You ask as Seongji prepares kimchi, surrounded by tubs of cabbage and seasoning paste.
He looks up and gives you a small shrug, "I don't."
You roll your eyes at his answer. "Well, do you want to visit together one day?"
It's the first time you've asked him directly.
All your talk about other countries and sights is fanciful at best and delusional at worst. But somewhere like Jeju is much closer to home. Somewhere penniless students and dropouts are more likely to make a reality instead of it being wishful thinking and hypotheticals.
Yeonji doesn't answer you straight away, there's very few things he answers straight away.
You know he's considering his life in Cheonliang, the home he has made for himself on the mountain. How difficult escaping this wretched place would be and how sweet freedom would taste.
Daunting, however.
Overwhelming to think of an entire world outside of this cult.
He settles on asking you a question back, "Is that where you want to go?"
You think of lush greenery, beautiful beaches, sand between your toes and eating delicious tangerines with Seongji by your side.
It sounds like heaven.
"Well I'd go anywhere with you," you avoid looking at his face with your admission, "but Jeju would be nice."
Oh.
Oh.
Seongji feels his heart pounding, and it’s nothing like when he has to calm himself down with a cocktail of pills to prevent himself from losing control.
There’s a warmth that spreads from his chest, a fluttering in his stomach.
He wants to grab your hand but focuses on his task instead.
"Ok."
Nevertheless, you catch a small smile settling over his face as he rubs the kimchi paste into the leaves.
"Ok." You agree, beaming.
Maybe visiting this summer will be nice, or more realistically the next. There’s an escape you need to plan and money you need to save.
But you’re in no rush. As long as you're with Seongji, you don't mind waiting.

Biden Gets Lost in Trump’s Shadow
The president-elect acts as if he’s already in charge. There’s never been a transition like this before.
By Peggy Noonan Wall Street Journal
Like Donald Trump or dislike him, hate him or love him, doesn’t matter: You have to see that what we are witnessing right now is truly remarkable, with no precedent.
He is essentially functioning as the sitting president. In the past, a man was elected and sat in his house, met with potential cabinet members, and courteously, carefully kept out of the news except to make a statement announcing a new nominee. The incumbent was president until Inauguration Day. That’s the way it was even in 2016; Barack Obama was still seen as president after Mr. Trump was elected. All that has changed.
Mr. Trump is the locus of all eyes. He goes to Europe for the opening of Notre-Dame. “The protocols they put in place for his arrival were those of a sitting president, not an incoming one,” a Trump loyalist and former staffer said by phone. He holds formal meetings with Volodymyr Zelensky and Emmanuel Macron. There he is chatting on a couch with Prince William. Why not the prime minister? Because the British know Mr. Trump is enchanted by royalty and doesn’t want to be with some grubby Labour pol. Mr. Trump talks of new tariffs on Canada, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau rushes down to Mar-a-Lago. After their meeting, Mr. Trump refers to him, on Truth Social, as “governor” of “the Great State of Canada.” (The Babylon Bee follows up with a headline: “Trump Tells Trudeau He Won’t Annex Canada if They Admit Their Bacon Is Just Ham.”)
The government of Syria suddenly falls and the world turns to America for its stand. Naturally it comes, quickly, from Donald Trump. “THIS IS NOT OUR FIGHT. . . . DO NOT GET INVOLVED!” The next day, Joe Biden characterizes the moment as one of “risk and uncertainty” for the region. Was there ever a moment that wasn’t one of risk and uncertainty for the region?
Mr. Trump tells Vladimir Putin that now that he’s abandoned Syria, he should make a deal to end the war in Ukraine. “I know Vladimir well. This is his time to act. China can help. The world is waiting!”
Mr. Trump’s cabinet picks—especially the highly questionable ones!—dominate the discourse in a country that hardly ever notices a cabinet nomination below that of secretary of state. His representatives, most famously Elon Musk, are greeted on Capitol Hill with a rapture comparable to past visits by heroic leaders of allied nations.
Donald Trump hasn’t overshadowed Joe Biden; he has eclipsed him. A former senior official in Mr. Trump’s first term told NBC News a few days ago that Mr. Trump “is already basically running things, and he’s not even president yet.”
To some degree the status shift is expected. Mr. Trump is the future, Mr. Biden the past; Mr. Trump wide-awake, Mr. Biden sleepy. The 46th president is a worn tire, the tread soft and indistinct. With the pardon of his son he lost stature. Also, Mr. Trump makes other leaders nervous, as he enjoys pointing out. They can neither predict him nor imitate him, so they can’t take their eyes off him. And Mr. Biden’s been rocked by something he knew in the abstract that’s become all too particular: after 50 years at the center of public life he’s been dropped, cast aside, because it was about power all along, and not about him.
A president, however, still has the machinery—the National Security Council, the State Department, the nuclear football. I can hardly believe our biggest adversaries don’t capitalize on this split presidency, this confusion. For all our woes you sometimes forget what a lucky country we are.
Here I mention a part of the amazing interregnum that I think is important, one that his friends and staffers speak of. Mr. Trump is calmer and more confident than he has been in the past. It is a commonplace to say that his surviving a shooting—that a bullet came within an inch or so of his brain—would change anyone, even a man in his eighth decade, even a man with fairly brittle ingrained views, even Donald Trump. But all of his friends go back to this as they speak of the Trump they’re seeing now. They think it took time for it to be absorbed and settle in. They see him as at least presenting himself in an altered way.
The former staffer said by phone, “Right now he is extremely relaxed.” It isn’t only the assassination attempt. “Everyone thought he was gonna change in a way that would be normal for most people to change—an outward reflection, more humble. I laugh when people say, ‘Normally, a president would—.’ Don’t use ‘normal’ with him.”
But, he said, after the second assassination attempt was thwarted, at Mr. Trump’s golf course, it had real impact. “Trump began to recognize, not in an unappreciative way but in a reality way, that he’d been spared. It gave him a stronger sense of confidence, some extra level of relaxation and of determination. He feels the American people are in trouble and if he can be a small part of fixing that, he must.”
The former staffer said Mr. Trump feels that “this wasn’t an election, it was a vindication.” The court cases, the indictments, the impeachments—“all these things against Donald Trump, and he doesn’t just come back, he roars back in a way that defies logic, reason and history. Few can fathom this.” He meant the history, but also its effect on Mr. Trump.
Something else, he said. When Mr. Trump was elected in 2016, his policy priorities and intentions weren’t fully clear. They are now, and have been popularized. “He knows the mission he laid out to the people—sane border policy, unleash energy, monetize ‘the liquid gold,’ make the tax cuts permanent—there’s an air of confidence about his mission now, and an understanding of the systems in place.” He is living something few get to live: “If I could do it all over again.”
A different observer, who’s seen Mr. Trump up close, said this week, “This is the best version of Donald Trump we will see.”
Back to the former staffer: “The gravity of this historic moment cannot be overstated. He has a level of swagger, a new level. People say, ‘Can I get the policy without the personality?’ No, you need a certain level of ‘I don’t give a damn.’ If you think he had it the first time, Katy bar the door.”
He had a prediction: “This has the potential to be historic in a way that only a handful of administrations have been. We remember some administrations with a level of history-altering moments. This one’s gonna have a lot.”
What about the potential for wrongdoing, such as using government to suppress or abuse foes? “He’s said a million times his revenge is going to be success. When Trump wins, he lets bygones be bygones.”
He paused. “Some of the people he’s hired aren’t that way, so there’s a chance some people may take it upon themselves to do some stuff. I don’t know.”

cha hyun su x female reader genre: romance, slightly mature (suggestive themes) type: series (but can be read as a oneshot) word count: 1,921
part 2 of series ◄◄ ˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ part 4 of series
౨ৎ ⋆。˚ synopsis: after the old man, seok hyun, had turned into a complete monster and was killed by the hands of his own wife, the atmosphere in green home has grown more tense- more so towards the other known infected, cha hyun su. meanwhile, hyun su has his own battle to fight; that is against his monster and its persistent trials to break through its enclosure within hyun su. unfortunately for him, his monster's grown impatient for freedom- and (y/n) just so happens to be around ౨ৎ ⋆。˚
'It's annoying, isn't it? To hear me pester you all day and night like this. Why not just... let me free?' Cha Hyun Su's monster tempts him with a tune that it appears to be more of a mockery than it is persuasion.
The poor owner of the body clutches his bag tighter against his chest as he tries to sleep on the now unoccupied couch. He didn't want to lie on it- but if a better cushion will help him sleep faster and rid off the voice in his head then he'll take it.
He's curled like a hook, desperate for rest and cease the unending taunts. And gradually, he does get it thanks to the relentless missions Eunhyuk sends him on. Maybe it's because he got upset when he discovered that (y/n) tailed after Hyun Su on a mission once and the latter didn't bother to tell, or that the latest incident struck a nerve in Eunhyuk but recently, he's been more irritable.
Time passes and soon, it's morning once more. Hyun Su feels just slightly better than before after some forced sleep but it's better than nothing. Besides, the monster's quiet now.
"You can't."
He turns to the door at the faint sound of Eunhyuk's voice. Slowly, he approaches it before pausing when he sees him with (y/n) a few large steps away down the corridor leading towards him. Hyun Su sneakily presses himself against the wall and observes the pair as much as he can from his hidden angle.
"Why not?" (y/n) argues with an evident glare on her face.
Eunhyuk, with his arms crossed and unchanging expression, sighs. "Because you broke the rules. You weren't supposed to join on the mission."
"Yeah, but that's a mission. This is just to visit him in the quarantine room like I always do. Why is it suddenly a forbidden thing to do??" She retorts and crosses her arms, mimicking him as if it will shift the power between them.
But of course, it doesn't and Eunhyuk only furrows. Once again, irritated. "What if he changes when you're in there? What are you gonna do then?"
"I'll run out?? Besides, he's not going to change. He hasn't been getting nosebleeds and even if he does transform suddenly, he could be a non-violent monster like the old man," (y/n) tries to convince the other but obviously, he's got a barrier taller than The Great Wall of China.
"Theories are just theories," he says sternly before swiveling and walking down the corridor to the other direction.
(y/n) stabs daggers at his furthering back. "I'm breaking the lock."
"Have fun."
And he disappears into a room.
The girl sighs exasperatedly before slumping against the wall that faces the quarantine room. Of course she can't break the lock. If she does, everyone's just going to get more anxious and the bad image Hyun Su already has might turn worse.
She lifts his head up and is met with surprise at the sight of Hyun Su gripping onto the bars of the little rectangle opening at the top half of his metal door- dark, round eyes fixed onto her as his cheeks touch the cold cylinders he holds. "Hyun Su... What are you doing?"
Her gentle cadence and smile are vastly different from how she was with Eunhyuk. Clearly, she has a favourite. And Hyun Su loves knowing that.
"I'm...watching," Hyun Su answers slowly.
A small titter escapes her as she closes the distance between them. "That's creepy."
She now stands just a step away from the door as she looks up at him with a dispirited expression. "I don't think I can come in anymore. Eunhyuk's become more strict and he's using the people to back him up. All I can do is just accompany you from out here."
Hyun Su lets his eyes roam on her face and a small smile graces his own as he slowly lets go of the bar and reaches his hand out. (y/n)'s brows raise at the unforeseen behaviour from him and obviously, gives in.
Her hands rests onto his palm which he then curls, clasping hers in his and intertwining their fingers. The girl gulps, flustered and abashed at the sudden skinship, oblivious to his own feelings that can be seen from the red tips of his ears.
"It's okay. This is enough," is what he says and indulges in watching her trying to 'play it cool' by avoiding any eye contact and doing a subtle shuffle. She's adorable.
'She sure is,' a voice echoes inside and Hyun Su's quickly alert. 'Wah... What you feel for her is just so sweet, it's sickening.'
Hyun Su's fingers tighten ever so slightly around hers as he tries to push it away. 'Go away.'
'I can't. Unless you've forgotten, I'm inside your head,' the voice snickers and Hyun Su's heartbeat quickens from annoyance and yet, fear. It's not supposed to come out- not when he's with (y/n). 'And I'm getting awfully impatient.'
His words confuse Hyun Su. 'Impatient? Wha—'
And suddenly, everything turns pitch black.
The abrupt drop of his head causes his forehead to crash against the bars and (y/n) worries for his wellbeing.
"Hyun Su! What's wrong?" She gasps. "You haven't eaten today, have you? Let me get you something."
She turns to leave but the tight hold he has around her hand tugs her back and she nears the rectangular opening, still seeing him with his head down against it.
"No... Don't go..." He then, whimpers, and the fragility in his voice stirs her into a panic.
"Hyun Su," (y/n) softly says his name again and reaches her other hand between the bars- searching for his face to pull it up.
Her palm cups his cheek and he shudders at her touch. A small whisper of her name leaves him as she lifts his face up.
Her eyes flicker between his own closed ones, troubled at his unsolvable pain that causes him to react the way he is. "What's wrong?"
In contrary to her expectations however, Hyun Su nuzzles against her hand- rubbing his face against her palm before he presses his own hand on top.
"Hyun Su has such strong will... I could never," he says and despite using the same exact voice, he sounds too different from the Hyun Su she knows. But what even is she trying to say? Hyun Su isn't Hyun Su?
Everything's too puzzling- especially when he pulls her by the wrist, causing her to collide with the door and her face against the bars.
"Hyun Su, what are you do—"
"I'm lonely," he speaks pitifully and this more familiar tone of voice calms (y/n)'s nerves as she pulls away slightly to look at him who's still keeping her hand against his cheek. 'His eyes...'
"Look at me," she says.
Hyun Su tilts his head into her palm again- the sad, sympathetic expression now shifting to a cocky, devious smirk as his lids open to reveal his black eyes.
No gentle dark browns, just pure abyss.
"You caught me. I knew you wouldn't have wanted me if I were to show myself," monster Hyun Su chuckles and erases the gap between them, now face to face with her.
(y/n) scoffs after quickly concluding that this must be the monster inside Hyun Su. "Want you? Why would you even consider that?"
She yanks her hand back but is swiftly captured by his- now gripping it with more force which makes it impossible to budge.
"Because you want him," he confidently declares and (y/n) feels her heart skip a beat. 'He knows. How does he know?' "At least, that's what I observe... Not that this weakling would ever consider it."
"What do you mean?" Her curiosity gets the best of her. 'Hyun Su would never consider it? Why? Is it really one sided? All this time?'
She's unnerved. He can see it from her expression that's almost begging him to assuage her anxiety, the questions in her head. He grins as his head angles upwards slightly and gosh— (y/n) will be lying if she says she doesn't feel a flutter in her stomach.
"Calm down. He likes you too... maybe a little too much. He thinks he doesn't deserve you, thinks you're better off with someone 'normal' who won't threaten your life," the monster scoffs as if finding the whole thing hilarious. "And yet, just one touch from you and he's tingling all over- craving for more like you're his oasis in the desert."
(y/n) says nothing- no, can't say anything. She's rendered speechless by this sudden, shocking information that she's having a hard time believing. Never once did Hyun Su ask for her affection, and even if he does reach out to her, it'll be momentary; comes and goes in a blink.
An abrupt warmth on her hand makes her jump before seeing Hyun Su kissing it. He plants his lips on the back of her hands, her knuckles, her palm before sliding up her arm to her face- unlatching his other hand from the bar to hold her chin.
He smiles beguilingly as he watches her weigh the voices of her brain and heart, enjoying her panic. "This is what Hyun Su wants. What I'm doing... this is all by him. But I'll be lying if I said I'm not indulging myself either."
"He...wants this?" (y/n) echoes and she can almost hear her sense of rationality and logic shrieking at her for irresponsibly choosing to communicate with a monster.
"Oh, yes," he slurs as his tongue darts out to wet his lip and brings her face closer- his eyes shifting between hers before down at her lips and back up. "So, so much, it wrecks him inside. He feels secure with you, comfortable, happier than ever, but at the same time you taunt him so much with your sweetness that it's venomous. But I like you because of that. Makes it easier to tamper with his mind."
His confession fills (y/n) with dread. All this time... has she been only making things harder for Hyun Su? He's been on war with himself for so long- and she's only adding fire to it.
"Don't worry too much, though. Because without you, he would've been long..." Hyun Su trails off as his eyes trail to her mouth and his thumb brushes over her bottom lip. "Gone."
He pushes his finger in slightly, touching her tongue- making her bite down from surprise and a low groan escapes him at the pain. A pain much too good to actually hurt.
Monster Hyun Su smirks as a scoff sounds from him once more at her immediate retraction and he grips her chin to yank her close.
"You temptress," he hisses before his eyes roll back and eyelids shut. His figure limps and he crashes onto the cold floor of the quarantine room.

* The wall has never been breached.
* It served as a refuge for the rulers of Mewar.
* There are 360 temples in that area.
* The Fort has seven gates.

"So you're one hundred per cent sure that what I got is enough? I feel like it's not. Oh yn, you could've let me get the tea set too!"
Jun whines from the passenger seat for the hundredth time. His mouth has been working overtime since the two had gotten in the car - questions, complaints and fusses leaving his mouth nonstop through the entire ride.
Approximately two weeks ago, on a random Tuesday night, you had casually thrown a question at Jun over dinner. "Mom called today. She wanted to have dinner since I hadn't visited them in a while. I was wondering if you wanted to go with me? They can finally meet you, Jun"
The simple question that came out of your somehow resulted in Jun choking on his next bite of rice.
If you'd thought Jun was overdramatic before (affectionately), you had definitely underestimated to what extent he would go after you had invited him to meet your parents.
The last two weeks had been hectic for Jun. As soon as he processed the invitation, he immediately made it his mission to get something - a first impression gift, he said - for your parents. When you firmly told him that he doesn't need to get anything, he looked at you like you just told him the Great Wall isn't in China. "Do you want your parents to hate me, yn? He had scoffed. "You weren't expecting me to just show up without anything, right? That's literally the easiest way to look bad in front of any parent"
Since then, Jun had been lurking on every single online website - hunting for household items with a concerningly deep determined look in his eyes. On Friday, he dragged you to a home appliance store nearby, immediately demanding your honest and brutal opinions on the porcelain tea sets on display. And that's when you admitted that maybe Junhui was a little more insane than you thought he was.
Surprisingly, you managed to convince Junhui to only stick to a couple of scented candles, incense sticks and coasters in the end. But it still didn't stop him from whining about how he still could've made a better impression with one of the tea sets he had been eyeing.
"Jun, sweetheart" You sigh, eyes set on the road ahead of you "There was no way I was gonna let you buy a whole ass tea set. Mom has plenty of sets at home, she doesn't need another one"
"Yn, I love you, but, the tea set isn't meant to be given as a function. I don't expect her to put it to use. It's more of a symbol of appreciation"
Damn your boyfriend and his ability to speak complete nonsense and somehow make it sound reasonable. "A symbol of appreciation? For what?"
"For letting me have their daughter, yn, obviously!" From the corner of your eye, you can see the way his arms are flailing around as he tries to argue with you. It's amusing, really - the way this got him all worked up and sweating like he's at dance practice.
"Respectfully, Jun, they didn't let you have me, you know?" You smirked, a teasing lilt to your voice. "They just didn't know and when they finally did, it was already too late. You were way too deep in love with me"
"You're right" Jun surprisingly agrees with you, making you look towards him with slightly raised eyebrows. Usually, he would have picked a fight. Arguing about how you're the one who fell first and the biggest simp in your relationship. So when he actually agrees with you without snapping back with a witty remark, you realize that his mind is preoccupied with the nervousness of the dinner with your parents more than you had realized.
"Jun?" You call softly to get his attention and wait till he replies with a hum. "Are you okay, love?"
Jun is silent in his seat. You take a quick glance at him to see him looking out the window, lips pulled under his teeth while he seems to be deep in thought. His hands are resting on his lap, fingers wringing each other in an attempt you recognize as him trying to calm himself down. Your eyebrows furrow in concern at the sight of Jun twitching in his seat, clearly anxious about this whole ordeal.
Looking in the rear mirror to see if you can slow down, you reach out to him with one of your hands - the other holding the steering wheel tighter. Jun almost jumps when he feels your cold hand settle on his before he laces his fingers with yours, his hold tight.
"Sorry," His voice is quiet, almost apologetic. "I'm just- I'm fidgety, cause, I'm nervous"
"Don't be sorry, baby, no" You assure him with a squeeze of his clammy hands. "It's okay if you're nervous, it's completely fine. Remember when you took me to meet your mom and dad? I was almost crying by the time we got there"
"Yeah, I remember" He sighs. "But I just- just can't help it, you know? What if they don't like me, yn? What if they think I'm not good enough- all sorts of what ifs"
You understood what he said, you really did.
When Junhui asked if you wanted to meet his family two months into your relationship, you had been anxious to the same extent - if not more. What was different was Jun had asked you almost a month in advance, giving you enough time to freak the fuck out about it, let it process, come to terms with it and finally get ready. When you think about it now, it makes you feel bad realizing you had only given Jun approximately two weeks to prepare himself for this.
"Junnie, I'm sorry if this is so sudden," You say, making him turn to you on a whim. "Fuck, I should've given you more time to get ready. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for you to get anxious, Jun"
"No, no, yn. It's not your fault, baby" Jun is quick to reach over the console, a clammy hand coming up to press under her chin in an attempt of reassurance. "It was sudden, true but this was going to happen sooner or later, no? Meeting your parents? I'm just the normal amount of nervous, okay? Don't worry baby, you didn't do anything"
As if to emphasize his words, Jun brings your laced hands to his lips, pressing a kiss to the back of your palm and another one to your wrist. You relax a little into your seat, his words starting to make sense in your mind.
Soon, you're putting out the right turn signal before making a turn off the main road. You can feel Jun's hand tense around yours a bit more and you give him another squeeze of assurance. He watches out his window as you drive along the road that leads to your house. All the houses in the neighbourhood are gates, screaming sophistication at any guest that passes by. You know that compared to other neighbourhoods, yours is considered to be a bit more upper-class and rich. And Junhui is definitely enamoured by it.
"Yn, you actually grew up in a fancy neighbourhood" His mouth is almost hung open. "All of the houses have gates!"
You laugh at the excitement that takes over his features, the anxiety seemingly slipping away from him in the process. You can't help but take occasional glances at him as you continue to drive up ahead. It's only when you turn towards a clearing that with an already opened gate, he suddenly tenses again.
"Oh god," You can hear him mumble under his breath, both of his hands now coming to hold on to yours that rest on his lap. The gate opens to a paved driveway, large trees carefully sitting on both sides. You slowly pull inside and at the end of the long driveway, the house you once called home stands proudly.
The closer you get to the house, the fidgety Junhui gets. His knee is bouncing up and down in clear distress so you hold on to him a little tighter, reminding him that you're right there. He waits as you drive to the side of the house, stopping the car next to the garage which holds your dad's cars. You can almost feel the anxiety that bounces off of Junhui, circulating the car like a scent and it makes you sad, knowing he's this nervous about meeting your parents.
As soon as your hand leaves the steering wheel and pulls on the parking gear, Junhui is almost scrambling to your side of the car over the console and immediately hiding his face in your shoulder.
"I'm so scared" He's mumbling into your your skin once his face is pushed against your neck, shaky breath fanning over you warmly.
You bring up your other arm which isn't clutching Jun's to put around him before pulling his body towards you. It's a weird angle considering how he's almost leaning his entire upper body over the console of the car but neither of you could care less about the way the gear is pressing into his tummy in a way that is not comfortable. What matters right now is the fact that you're there to hold him while he freaks out about what will happen once he gets out of the car.
He sighs again, relaxing a little in your hold as you press your lips to his temple. "What if...what if they don't like me, yn? What do I-"
His words are unceremoniously cut off when you pull away by a little, only to press your lips against his in a quick manner. He shuts up then, closing his eyes and deepening the kiss, trying to drink in your entire being if you're offering. It's evident in the way he unconsciously tries to chase your lips with his when you go to pull away.
"Baby, no" You assure him in a hushed whisper, forehead resting against his temple. "They're not gonna hate you, I promise. They won't, darling"
The look on Jun's face remains the same, unconvinced and doubtful even though you put up the most certain voice you're able to. There's a slight crease in his eyebrows and the way his eyes fail to focus on yours says enough though - he's terrified.
"Baby" You croons, freeing your other hand from his before bringing them both up to his face.
Jun's cheeks are cold under your fingers, probably a result of the blasting AC in the car. Your hands must be cold as well if the way he flinches when they rest on his skin says something. Yet, his eyes slightly droop on the contact, almost leaning into the touch with a small smile that paints across his lips. It makes you smile too, the way he's so willing to lean into the warmth ( or the icy cold feel ) of your hands.
"They'll be nice, baby, I promise. Don't you think they'll at least try to be nice to the first boy I've ever brought home, hm? It's a new milestone"
His cheeks are immediately flushing at your words - the knowledge of him being the first to meet the parents settling something warm and fuzzy in his stomach. You smile to yourself as you see the mischievous little smile that stretches across his face.
"How do I trust you, huh?" He says with a slyness to her voice, looking up at you from the gaps in his lashes.
"Trust me about what?" You play along while your fingers brush away locks of brown stray hairs that fall across his forehead.
"When you say I'm the first boy to meet your family?" His usual playful smile is now etched into his face, making him look young and boyish. Now that he doesn't seem to be as worried as he was before, you realize he's up to no good. Jun is skilled in knowing just how to pull the strings and make you the right amount of annoyance at any given time. "Does that mean you've brought girls home, hm? What if you're just saying it to make me feel better?"
"Oh, jun, baby. If I had brought girls home, I would've gotten kicked out a long time ago, don't you think?" You chuckle despite the heaviness of the words that come out of your mouth. Jun smiles too, seeming to agree with you. "And trust me, you'd know why I haven't brought anyone home all this time once you meet them, okay?"
And just like that, Jun's face is crumping again in your hold before he's whining in a high voice while leaning away from you. "Yn, why would you say that? That sounds even scary"
You chuckle while Jun fake cries in his seat, suddenly ranting about how he would not hesitate to break down in actual tears if your family intimidates him enough. While he goes on and on about the miserable state he's in, you reach behind you and grab the bag of 'first impression gifts' Jun had brought.
When you got in the car earlier, you had jokingly pointed out how he's only doing this to suck up to your parents and kiss their ass. And Jun being dramatic as he is had dismissed you with a sassy flick of his wrist saying 'Yn, it's not kissing ass to bring something as a visitor. It's basic human decency. It's an unwritten rule of Asian households. You should know that!'
As soon as you grab the bag from the backseat, Jun is shuffling to take it from you, sticking his hand inside and mentally checking out a list of the things he's gotten to make sure he hasn't forgotten anything.
As you wait for Jun to finish, you turn off the car, pocketing your keys and wallet. Jun has finished his counting when you turn back towards him. He's leaning against the door on his side, bag resting on his lap and hands once again nervously twitching on top of it.
The look in his eyes is fond as he looks your way, but it doesn't take a genius to understand that it's only masking a lot of nervousness and unease behind them. His lower lip is caught between his teeth as he rapidly chews on it, purely out of habit. So you reach before carefully thumbing under his lips, trying to get him to stop.
"Take your time, Jun. There's no rush. We have all the time. Let me know when you're ready"
Junhui had always been naturally fidgety when it came to approaching new people and being introduced to new conditions. And even more so if it's related to your past that he hadn't been present in. Jun tends to care a lot about first impressions - always fussing over his appearance, his behaviour and his attention to detail. As much of an extrovert as he is, it's always quite hard for him to take the first step towards instant socializing.
In disparity, you're the one who's capable of grounding him whenever it happens. Even though he's freaking out of his mind, as long as he's able to feel the familiar sense of your fingers lacing his, nudging the right amount of pressure against his skin, he's good to go. So even now, as he's trying to regulate his breathing and try not to scream in dread, the feeling of your lips pressing into his cheek in the form of security, assurance and a promise - it's enough to hold him from falling apart.

The Sun and Moon show au!
God!Sun or TheGoldenSun!
[A Sun rises. A Sun and Moon show fanfic]
Moon was messing around on his computer in the daycare. "Finalizing designs." The computer said over the speakers of the daycare. "How long till completion?" Moon asked, clearly looking antsy. "5 minutes." The computer replied.
"Too long long. Expedite it." Moon said with a sense of urgency. "Will do, sir." The computer began to expedite the process. The loading bar started to move faster. First 3% then 25%, 56%, 77%, 99%, till finally the computer lit up. A big download complete box appeared on the screen.
Moon smiled widely. "Yes! It's complete!" Moon pushed a button, and Moon watched as his newest invention sprung to life. Literally. The toys jumped up, striking a similar pose that Sun and Moon would do when children would first enter the daycare.
Moon and Sun action figures.
The toys' eyes lit up, glowing a fine baby blue color. Moon picked up the sun toy and pushed the button on the back of it. The toy began to move. Moon put the toy back on the desk and watched it jump, twirl, and roll around the desk.
"Hi there!" The toy spoke in a slightly higher pitched voice similar to Sun's. "I'm Sundrop, and this is my brother Moondrop." The toy motioned for its other half to do it's thing.
The Moon toy stood up and began to do similar spins, tricks, and flips like the Sun toy had done before landing perfectly and striking a pose.
"Well, hi there, kiddie. I'm Moondrop!" The toy said in a excitable tone that was very unlike regular Moon. Moon chuckled.
"Fully operational." Moon said as he picked up the toys and turned them off. The toys' eyes faded from blue to black and said, "Goodbye, kids" and "Good night, kids"
Moon smiled and dropped the toys into a box. "Just in time for Christmas." The computer said"
"Yep" Moon replied.
"The kids are gonna love this."
"Hey, computer, can you check on how Earth and Monty are?" Moon asked as he started to box up more of the Sun and Moon toys he had just built.
"Of course, sir. According to Earth's last internet post, she and Monty are visiting the Great Wall of China and are on their way to visit the Terracotta solider statues."
"Sounds nice." Moon replied. "Still can't believe Monty is our brother-in-law in now.... sister-in-law? Them-in-law?" Moon asked, confused on what to call Monty.
Sun then walked into the daycare. "Hey, Moon. Hey, Spaniard."
"Hey, brother." Moon said over his shoulder as he moved a box elsewhere.
"Hello, Sun." The computer replied.
"What'cha doing?" Sun asked as he saw the dozens of boxes. His face lit up as he saw what the boxes were full of.
"Ahhhhhh! You finished them!" Sun said as he darted towards a box full of the toys. He grabbed one and pressed the button on its back.
The toy did spins, flips, tricks, and even sang songs to Sun. "These are so cool, Moon. Thank you. The kids are gonna love these!" Sun said in awe at his brother's craftsmanship.
"Thanks, but I really should be thanking you." Moon said with a genuine smile.
Sun looked at Moon nervously and asked, "Y.. you should thank me? W..wh..why?"
Moon found Sun's reaction was a little odd, but he just brushed it off. "Well, you're the one who gave me the idea to make these more advanced toys of us. You said you "wished the kids could take us home with them so they always have a friend with them.""
"Oh, ya, I.. I did say that."
Moon placed a hand on Sun's shoulder. "Hey, bro, you okay?" Moon asked, concerned with how his brother was acting.
"Of course, why wouldn't I be okay?" Sun said as he brushed Moon's hand off his shoulder.
"You just sound... I don't know... nervous for some reason."
"Me? nervous? No." Sun said in a very obviously nervous voice. "I'm not nervous. Why would I be nervous?"
Sun grabbed one of the boxes and started to carry it to where Moon had placed the other boxes for pick up.
Moon could see through his brother's thinly veiled lie. He was nervous for some reason.
Suddenly, it all clicked for Moon.
"Oooh. I know why you're nervous." Moon said in a somewhat mocking tone.
Sun froze with fear. "Y... you did?"
"Yep. It all makes sense."
Sun started to panick internally. "Not again! Not again! Not again!" Was the only phrase that kept popping into Sun's mind. Did his brother really figure it out again?
"You..."
Sun could feel everything start to slow down. No. No. No. He couldn't do this again. Sun waited for his brother's next words with dread.
"Have a girlfriend!" Moon exclaimed.
Sun stared at his brother for a few seconds and laughed. A wave of calm washed over Sun.
"Bahahahahaahahaha! No, Moon, I do not have a girlfriend."
"Oh.... then why are you nervous?"
Sun froze again. He needed to think of a way out of this. He didn't want to lie to his brother, but he also couldn't tell him the truth. Thankfully, like clockwork, an employee walked into the daycare. "Hey, Sun. Hey, Moon."
The employee said as he waved to the two brotherly bots.
"Hey, Tim." Moon said as he returned the wave to the young employee. "Hi, Tim." Sun said as he placed the box on the floor. "What's up?"
"I got the trucks pulled. We're ready for the toys." The employee took a peak into one of the boxes.
"Yoo! These look really cool! Can I have one?" The human employee asked.
"Sure. Why not?" Moon said in reply.
"Go ahead. We're not gonna say no." Sun replied.
"Sick!" The young human employee said. "Thanks, boss!" The employee said as he pocketed two of toys and lifted the boxes onto a dolly and pushed them out the door.
"See ya, boss."
"See ya, kid." "Bye, Tim." the two brothers said as they waved goodbye to him.
"Nice kid, glad we hired him." Moon said as he walked back to his station.
"Ya. He's a good one."
Sun noticed that Tim's unexpected visit had actually saved him from having to lie to Moon and had made Moon forget their previous conversation. Sun was relieved. Sun decided to switch the topic of conversation even more.
"So, um, have you heard from Earth today?"
"Hmm? No, not yet she's been busy. Her and Monty are still on their whole exploring the world trip. From what I've heard, they're in China currently."
"Oh, nice." Sun replied.
"I'm happy for them. They've been working hard lately they deserve the vacation."
Moon nodded in agreement."We should take one soon."
"That's not a bad idea, but it'll have to wait till after the holidays." Sun said, loving the idea of taking a vacation with just his brother it would be like the old days back when it was just Sun and Moon.
"I can wait till after Christmas." Moon said as he began to tap away at his keyboard. "Where would you like to go?"
Sun thought about it. There were a lot of places he'd love to go, so it was hard to just choose one.
"I.. I don't know... Tokyo?"
Moon bounced the idea around in his head a bit but ended up rejecting it. "Nah. Germany?" Moon suggested.
Sun shook his head. "No, we went there with Freddy and Toy Chica once, remember?"
"Well, we can go again."
Sun just shook his head, no.
Moon rolled his eyes. "Vegas?"
Sun laughed at that suggestion. "What are we? Monty?"
Moon laughed at his own suggestion, too. "Ya, I can see it now, I'm cheating a blackjack while you're losing our entire business at the slots machines."
"Hey, I would not lose!"
"Suuuurrrree, buddy, sure." Moon said with one last chuckle.
Sun and Moon stayed in the daycare, talking about possible vacation locations until Spaniard spoke up. "Sirs, you got a message from Lunar."
"Play it." Moon said, not taking his attention off the computer keys.
A very loud scream was heard over the speakers. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
Sun and Moon jumped with fear.
"Oh jeez!"
"Ah! What?!"
An evil little laugh was heard over the speakers.
"Sorry, guys, haha." Lunar laughed.
Moon sighed and shook his head while Sun held his chest, checking for a heart attack even though he didn't have a heart.... that he knew of.
"H..hey, Lunar." Sun said, still clutching his chest.
"Hey, guys! I'm coming over for dinner tonight. Do you want me to pick up anything?"
Sun thought about it for a minute. "Pizza, maybe? No! Spaghetti." Sun said.
Moon yelled up to the speakers. "Get me fettuccine!"
"Got it." Lunar said. "Oh by the way Monty's dad is with me. He says he's coming over too."
"Great." Sun said rather unenthusiastically. Ever since Monty and Earth tied the knot, Monty's pops had been coming around Sun and Moon's house a lot. They had no idea why. Moon's current theory is: Monty's dad is just bored and looking for some guy friends to hang out with.
"Tell him not to touch the dvr!" Moon yelled at the speaker. "I am not watching twelve hours of British soap operas with him again!"
"Got it." Lunar replied.
"When will you be home?" Sun asked.
"Umm... another ten... maybe nine minutes?"
"Okay, we'll see you then."
"Bye, Lunar."
"Bbbbyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeee!" Lunar said as the computer ended the call.
"Has his voice gotten louder?" Sun asked.
"Don't know, but it sure sounds like it."
Sun was about to make another comment on how their brother was till he heard the fimilar jingling of bells.
Moon and Sun turned their attention to the door to the daycare. The doors opened, and in stepped a brown skinned human girl with green emerald like eyes and two pigtails that had hair ties with bells wrapped around them.
"Daddy!" She exclaimed as she ran to Sun. "Dazzle!" Sun exclaimed.
Sun ran and picked up Dazzle and trapped her in a big hug. "Ooooh, Dazzle. What brings you here? You know Daddy's working."
"Better question: How did you get here?" Just as Moon asked that question, they heard a knock on the door. Solar was leaning against the door lightly knocking on it. "Sup?" Solar said.
"Hey, Cuz." Moon said still not taking his eyes off the computer.
"Solar? You brought Dazzle here?"
"Ya, the little tike called me and asked me to bring her here." Solar said as he removed his goggles.
"Dazzle, you know you aren't allowed to use the phone unless it's an emergency." Sun said very, very lightly, scolding Dazzle.
"But there was an e..emergency." Dazzle said.
"Oh? And what was the emergency?" Sun asked.
"I missed you."
Random aws was heard from somewhere. Sun looked around the room, confused, wondering where the aws were coming from. All eyes fell on Moon who was messing with his computer.
"Sorry, I was watching some cat video."
Moon pushed the play button and more "Aw"s were heard.
Sun just smiled and shook his head. "Welp, while you're here, you wanna see the new toys Uncle Moon made?"
Dazzle gasped. "Ya! Ya! Yaa!"
"Moon?"
"Sure. Here you go." Moon tossed Sun two of the toys, Sun caught them and handed them to Dazzle. Dazzle gasped when she saw them. "They look just like you guys!" She exclaimed.
"You think they're cool now? Just push that button right on their backs."
Dazzle flipped the toys over and pushed the button on their backs. The toys stood up and grabbed each other's hands, and did a tumbling routine. Dazzle laughed as they did.
"They're amazing!"
"I know, right?" Sun said, complementing his brother's work.
"You made those?" Solar asked as he examined the toys.
"Ummm... ya. I make toys." Moon replied.
"Since when?"
"Since forever." Moon said, kinda thinking Solar would know the answer.
"Oh, I didn't know. Neat." Solar said, complementing Moon on his toy-making skills.
"I could swore you knew." Moon was surprised, sure him and Solar weren't that close, but he figured he would at least know about his doll making hobby.
"W.. well, let's not swear." Sun said, trying to change the topic of their conversation.
"Hey, Dazzle, Your Uncle Lunar is coming for dinner."
Dazzle gasped again. "Yaaaaa! I like Uncle Lunar, he's small like me."
Sun laughed and patted Dazzle on head. "Yes, he is, and one day, you'll be taller than him."
Dazzle laughed and clapped for joy at the thought of being taller than her Uncle Lunar. Then she could pick him up like a plushie and carry him around.
Solar took a brief glance at his phone. "Hey, we should probably get going. Jack is in the car, and he's getting antsy being in there alone."
The whole room fell silent as Sun and Moon turned their gaze to Solar. Solar looked around the room, confused and slightly concerned.
"What?"
"You left Jack... in your car.... unattended?" Sun asked with a hint horror hidden in his voice.
"Umm... ya. How much trouble can he really cause? He's strapped in the backseat tighter than Fort knox."
Just then, Solar felt his phone vibrate. He looked down at it, and his calm, indifferent expression faded into one of shock, confusion, and concern.
"How did he manage to crash into a lightpost?! Was he actually backseat driving or something?"
Solar exclaimed.
Moon shrugged. "Hmh? You made him. You should know."
"Well, I don't."
Solar sighed and rubbed his eyelids.
"Alright, let's go check and see if Jack is okay and if the car is still in.... driveable condition, shall we?"
Moon nodded and followed behind his cousin.
"You coming, Sun?" Moon shouted from the next room. "Ya, in a minute!"
"Okay, Dazzle, you follow your Uncle Moon and Solar while daddy deals with some adult business."
"Okie-dokie." Dazzle said just before she sped off after her uncles.
Sun smiled and let out a content sigh. Sun's expression changed from one of contentment to one of seriousness. Sun sat down on the follow and closed his eyes and began to meditate.
Sun spent what must have been a few seconds like that till he opened his eyes and was in a completely different realm. The whole place looked like space. Stars and planets littered his view. He turned his view to a very fimilar figure in the distance. Sun got up and walked over to the figure.
The figure swirled his wine glass and took a sip of it as the figure hummed a song to himself. Sun stood behind the fimilar figure.
"I'm here." Sun said with a serious tone.
The figure smiled and finished his drink. The figure turned around, revealing himself to be a variant of Sun who wore a black and red tux vest. It was Dark Sun.
"So, you are." Dark Sun said with a villainous smile. "Tell me, my little wanna-be god, how are things on earth? I saw you almost slipped up back there."
"I don't want to do this anymore." Sun said plainly.
Dark Sun looked puzzled. "You'll have to be more specific. What exactly do you not want to do anymore?"
"Lying! I don't want to lie to Moon anymore or Solar or Earth or Lunar or anyone! I'm done lying!"
Sun said sternly. He had lied to his family for too long now and had done too many things he needed to get this off his chest. He could feel the weight of his guilt and secrets crushing him!
Dark Sun let out a small chuckle at Sun's words.
"Oh, you'll keep lying cause if you decide to blow the lid off this little secret of ours and go back on your word, I can't promise I won't go back on mine. "Dark Sun said sinisterly as his eyes began to glow a deep, dark blood red.
Sun stiffened up at his dark variant's threats.
"Y... you ww.. wouldn't dare." Sun manage to stutter out
"Oh, I dare." Dark Sun replied.
"We've done a lot of good for the world, Sun," Dark Sun said as he placed a hand on Sun's shoulder. "Why ruin it just cause you feel a little guilty to bumping off some old furry?"
"We didn't kill him."
"But he certainly isn't here anymore, is he?" Dark Sun said. Dark Sun could see his words had cut through Sun.
"Good boy. Now, run along and be with your family. Oh, and remember... no one must find out what we did. I don't want you spilling your guts out to anybody. Cause if you do, I can either erase their memories again like the last thirty times or maybe.... I'll come up with a more... "permanent solution" if you know what I mean?"
Sun's eyes widened in fear. "Don't you dare touch them!" Sun yelled as he raised his hand, and a golden light formed around his hand. A blast of air was sent flying at Dark Sun. The blast sent Dark Sun's wine glass flying, and invisible force began to choke Dark Sun. Dark Sun struggled to break free from Sun's magic grasp. Dark Sun watched as Sun's eyes began to glow a gold color. Dark Sun couldn't help but laugh.
Sun confused dropped Dark Sun. "Why are you laughing?" Dark Sun interrupted his own laughter."Cause you're starting to look so much like him."
Sun's became filled his regret, and his face reflected that. Dark Sun just chuckled.
"You're starting to remind me more and more of Nexus and Golden Freddy every day, ya know that?"
Sun couldn't even bring himself to look up at Dark Sun. He just looked down into the cosmos below him.
Dark Sun placed a firm but gentle hand on one Sun's shoulders. "It's alright. I get it you don't like lying to your family, BUT you know if you told them the truth what they would have, you do."
Sun nodded his head slowly in agreement.
"As much you or they hate it,Sun, we did a good thing. Probably the BEST thing for the universe. Because of us everyone is happy. You get a peaceful life with your family with no Fazbear or Creator, Monty gets his dad back and a happy and quiet life with Earth. Lunar doesn't have to deal with the stress or fear of the Astrals and his powers, and Moon doesn't have to face the repercussions of his actions and doesn't have to worry about accidentally creating another star or Eclipse or something. We did the right thing, Sun. It may not feel like it. Heck, it may NEVER feel like it, but we did do the right thing, I assure you of that."
Sun was just silent all of Dark Sun's speech. He wanted to argue with Dark Sun, but part of him didn't want to, believing that Dark Sun was correct and that they had done the right thing.
Dark Sun patted Sun on the shoulder. "Now, run along. Dazzle and the others are probably wondering where you are. Oh, and Sun.... don't do anything stupid." Dark Sun said as he returned to his work of watching over the universe and guarding it against all magical threats.
Sun began to walk away. He looked down at his still glowing hand. He had the power to be a god. He had the power to protect his family and keep them safe. He had the power for everything to go right for once.... but this wasn't HIS power. It was Golden's, and he stole it. Sun took one last look at Dark Sun and began to meditate again.
"It's tough to be a god, Sun. But it's tougher being mortal."
Sun couldn't disagree with Dark Sun's logic. It was better to be a god and deal with the dark secrets he had to keep than to be mortal and have to go back to the way things were.
When Sun opened his eyes, he was back in the daycare. He checked his phone. He had thankfully only been gone for a minute, but to him in that realm a minute felt like ten years. Sun picked himself back up, dusted his uniform, and put a big fake smile on for all to see and began to skip out the door after Dazzle saying,
"Dazzle, wait for me!"
Hope you enjoyed part 1 of The Golden Sun au. More to come.
