What if Vlad knew about Danny Phantom being Half-Ghost, before ‘Bitter Reunions’?… Would Vlad treat Danny differently, when Danny’s Family first arrives at Vlad’s mansion?… Does Vlad go easier on Danny, during their very First Battle, or would they not not battle at all? 😮

I actually have a story planned that deals with exactly this thing! This one is A Different Meeting from my WIP Ask Game post (and I forgot to include at least 2 other WIPs in that list. Oops):

“Jack. And Maddie!” He stepped forward, clasped her hands, and kissed her cheek. “You’ve never looked lovelier, my d—” His eyes fell upon a familiar face behind her. “And who is this handsome young gentleman?”

Danny’s skin prickled under the piercing gaze. His eyes flitted around nervously, trying to find somewhere to land.

“Oh, this is Danny, our son,” Maddie laughed. “And this is our daughter, Jasmine. Jazz for short.”

A little starstruck, Jazz meekly waved.

Vlad gave the girl a polite nod but shifted his attention back to Danny, gazing at him earnestly. “Indeed, indeed. How marvelous. What a beautiful family. Please, please, come in.” As they passed, he placed a gentle hand on Danny’s shoulder and guided him inside.

Unbidden, a poem he’d learned in middle school rose up through the fog of his memory:

“Will you walk into my parlour?" said a spider to a fly; “’Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy. The way into my parlour is up a winding stair, And I have many pretty things to shew when you are there.” “Oh no, no!” said the little fly, “to ask me is in vain, For who goes up your winding stair can ne’er come down again.”

Essentially, Vlad recognizes the boy known as Phantom (kind of hard not to since he looks and sounds the same as his human counterpart; however, if you align with the headcanon that "ghosts look different to humans and only see each other as they truly are", it'll still work) and sets about manipulating Danny to join him, using whatever deceitful ploys he can to win him over.

So to answer your question, anon: yes, definitely, I think if Vlad had known Danny from the get-go, their relationship would have been much different. Vlad likely would have withheld making his hatred for Jack Fenton known, and his focus would rapidly shift from winning an unrealistic, unattainable goal (Maddie's love) to something much more feasible and rewarding (Danny's allegiance and loyalty). He and Danny wouldn't have fought in the library; instead, Vlad would make it his mission to treat, pamper, spoil and corrupt Danny, who already has some resentment issues with his parents and sister.

He's easy prey for this hungry spider.

Guess who just beat SMT IV

Full spoilery thoughts under the cut.

TL;DR: Hard recommend for those who like Persona and want to get into SMT. Game is easy for SMT games if you do a magic build, and make sure to bring the fusion calculator and a guide if you want to do Neutral Ending. This game was an experience. I loved the characters so, so, much. Lucifer, Merkabah, and Masakado were a joy to look at design-wise. A friend of mine actually informed me that Lucifer's second form has a very stark reference to the fact that Walter was eaten by him, but I think Merkabah's was a bit more horrifying. As in, Remnants of Jonathan were nowhere to be seen, mostly in the first form. If you're wondering, I *Did* go for the Neutral ending, with my team of a Magic build Flynn, with Vishnu as support, and Mara and Shiva working as my physical attackers. I did want to fight Masakado in the DLC Quest "For the past... For the Future...", but I decided against it when Masakado not only wiped the FLOOR with me, but also that the guide i looked at recommended that I use Fiends and Archangels as my team. which, if you dont know, Archangels are gotten by another DLC, and the Fiends are extremely tedious to get. My only complaint is that the Neutral route was unsatisfying, but i think thats everyone's opinion. I played for the story and the fun characters in the end. Not for the gameplay. Because at that point, Lucifer and Merkabah were like wet tissue paper. Thanks again to @meme-boys-blog for motivating me to finish past Minotaur and beyond. Cannot wait to continue my SMT adventure with you. Onto SMT IV: Apocalypse! And Nanashi hitting Masakado with a steel chair. My plan there is to shoot for killing YHVH. Because as far as i can tell, thats canon going into SMT V.

Mushroom Veal Roast

Hearty and flavourful, this beautifully juicy Mushroom Veal Roast make a deliciously warming meal on a chill Winter day. Happy Wednesday!

Ingredients (serves 3):

2 tablespoons olive oil

a small (685-gram/1.5-pound) veal roast

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

a dozen button mushrooms

1 large garlic clove, minced

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

a couple of sprigs dried thyme

2 bay leaves

a small onion

2 tablespoons plain flour

2 tablespoons Modena Balsamic Vinegar

1 teaspoon coarse sea salt

1/2 tablespoon freshly cracked black pepper

2 cups water

1 tablespoon demerara sugar

Preheat oven to 180°C/355°F.

In a large Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.

Once hot, add veal roast, and brown evenly, about 2 minutes on each side.

Once browned, transfer veal roast to a plate. Set aside.

Add butter to the Dutch oven.

Dust button mushrooms, and cut them into thick slices.

Once the butter is just foaming, add sliced mushrooms, and cook, 3 minutes. Add garlic, dried oregano and thyme and bay leaves, and cook, another couple of minutes.

Peel and finely chop onion. Stir into the pot. Cook, 1 minute.

Sprinkle in the flour, and cook out, 1 minute more.

Deglaze with Balsamic Vinegar.

Return veal roast, along with its resting juices to the Dutch oven, and season on each side, with coarse sea salt and black pepper.

Stir in water, and bring to the boil.

Once boiling, cover with the lid, and place in the middle of the hot oven. Bake, at 180°C/355°F, for 45 minutes to an hour.

Whilst cutting the roast, return Dutch oven over medium-high heat, and cook, stirring often until sauce thickens. Stir in demerara sugar until completely dissolved.

Serve Mushroom Veal Roast hot, with Bay and Fennel Rice.

Burr was terrible with money on a weirdly epic scale. The dude spent money he didn't have on *things he didn't even want* because he apparently had no ability to say no to pushy salespeople.

So in that sense, Burr being in Squid Game makes sense. But on the other hand; Squid Game contestants tended to be there either because they really wanted money, or because they were desperate and saw no other option. Neither of those is really true of Burr.

Burr didn't want money; he wanted... honestly, I'm not even sure what he wanted. But the most notable thing about Burr is that he *never* ran out of plans. Land speculations, steamships, wood vinegar; he thought "every thing possible to adventure and perseverance" (Hamilton) and he got other people caught up with him. So I'm not convinced he would ever have been desperate enough to join the game.
