Rajkummar Rao wears a tiny skirt in a deleted Stree 2 scene and gives a look with fans: "Kya aap log dekhna chahte hain ye scene film mein?"
Rajkummar Rao, whose current film Stree 2 is doing well at the box office, recently gave fans some behind-the-scenes looks that didn't make the final edit. The actor released a few of previously unseen photographs on Instagram, causing excitement and interest among his followers.
Tumblr media
Rajkummar Rao Shares Unseen Photos from Stree 2 On Instagram, Rajkummar Rao shared two intriguing behind-the-scenes shots from Stree 2. In one of the photographs, Rao is costumed as a lady, wearing a purple sequin skirt, a scarlet blouse, and a golden shrug. The second shot shows Rao with the film's director, Amar Kaushik.
Along with the photographs, Rao labeled the post, "#Stree2." One of my favorite scenes from the film that did not make it to the final cut. Is there a sequence in the film that you want to see? What's going on?"
Co-stars and fans respond to the post. The post soon gained traction among fans and celebrities alike. Shraddha Kapoor, the female lead in Stree 2, expressed her eagerness to watch the deleted sequence. Abhishek Banerjee, another co-star, sent a comment expressing astonishment and admiration. Several significant industry leaders, including Vijay Varma, Nimrat Kaur, Guneet Monga, and Niren Bhatt (the Stree franchise's writer), remarked on the tweet.
The plot of Stree 2 follows the events of the first film, with a new demonic monster haunting the town of Chanderi. The same group of friends must once again band together to save the day, this time confronting fresh hurdles and the powerful threat posed by the new entity.
The horror-comedy sequel stars Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. It was launched on August 15 and is now doing well at the box office.

Yeesh! This is a solid movie with a solid, impactful, and painful story - with a high dose of the painful. It's very well told, but god, watching repeated episodes of domestic abuse, followed by feigned regret and blaming it on the alcohol (which, of course, does not stop) and, when he appears to be getting in trouble, emotional blackmail and false promises of "I will change" is painful.
You want to yell at her for repeatedly falling for the same nonsense, but then - you also sort of get it. She does love him (or, at least, did - that line may have been blurred to the point where she's just living on old feelings at this point) and she wants to hope he can change (or worse, that she can change him) - maybe if she gets pregnant, maybe if she can get him to give up the alcohol; she's sorta trapped in a life that revolves around him (and her mother, who is unabashedly in the 'kill him' camp from the moment we meet them); and she lives a world where this not only happens, but is entirely between husband and wife and others don't interfere (though, unlike what we saw in Kathal, where everyone is just like "blame the girl," everyone here - the inspector, Rajesh Sharma's character, Zulfi, the other ladies in the building/colony - all seem to be understanding and/or supportive, even if she won't take it). Until, of course, she gets literally pushed too far. And then it's time for revenge - or, as she hopes it is - time to get her respect back.
It takes a long time to get there. I know they have to build up to it, and they do a good job of it, but some of the scenes are really hard to stomach (the shoe; that final push) and that this takes half the movie really makes drag on in pain.
Even when she's been pushed, she maintains this sorta of semi-lucid state of "I'm not evil" - though, honestly, it feels most of the time that it's actually just a state of "I still love him, maybe he can change?". Probably up until she's able to let out the "it was a girl" bit - after that, she's done. Just had to get it out of her. But then, even at the end - when she's truly done with him, she realizes the true impact of the scorpion/frog story her mom was telling - and when she turns to her mom and says "I'm not a scorpion" with the most resolve she's shown all movie, you know she gets it. And that's when the mom seems to get it too. (Also, 'Scorpion' or 'Bicchoo' would also have been a reasonable title for this movie.) And then the brilliant bit where she admits she wanted her respect back, but has realized that she just really needs her own respect - his doesn't matter at all.
He, of course, doesn't, so things don't end well for him even after that - though, honestly, he should just be happy he made it as far into the story as he did, because, honestly, fuck him. He got what he deserved, but he deserved it well before he actually got it. Vijay Varma was cool in Jaane Jaan, but aside from that he's been a sleaze in Murder Mubarak and is a fucktard here, so - congrats to him on being a brilliant actor. He does a wonderful job making you hate him, though admittedly he is given a pretty easy job of that when his role alternates between 'beat her' and 'cry forgiveness.' That scene in the station, when he is looking at possible jail time, and the subsequent reserved (and then, less reserved) anger as he searches for who complained about him, shows that perfectly.
Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah are also fucking amazing. Alia of course carries most of the weight on her shoulders, and does it brilliantly. But man, Shefali Shah's character - and her from the start ideas of how to get rid of him - are so much fun. Even the multiple conversations between them involving just their facial contortions are great.
There's something to be said for, after everything (including him literally coming to kill her), she still turns around at the end to untie him and let him go. Sure, she has some great lines for him after that ("I'm done with you," etc.), but that moment really contrasts her to him, who even at that point, is threatening to come after her again. Sure, things end bleakly for him, but at that point, she may have led him there, but everything that happens is sorta his fault and his choice. ... Zulfi, meanwhile, is too innocent for this world, it would appear, based on how quickly he falls for this man's lies - repeatedly.
I knew what this movie was about coming in - but even with that, it doesn't make viewing the first half any easier. It might have some lighthearted moments, but this isn't just some romp through a field of daisies. It hurts to watch. And it makes the ending that much more satisfying (and sad, that so many folks end up worse off in this exact type of situation, whereas the abusers continue on unscathed and unbothered).
