I hate Eric Frankenstein the person, but i really really loveeee seeing him on screen. I always want more from him. BECAUSE I think James Gunn is doing a fantastic job satirizing incels through him. I think Gunn does a great job at giving us characters that are wholeheartedly irredeemable, but you can still see where everything went wrong to begin with. He also does a great job with characters that have done terrible things but actually DO deserve sympathy (Dr. Phosphorus). So I'm excited to see more of Eric because I don't think Gunn is going to fumble the message, but I've seen sooooo many fans justify what is CLEARLY the characterization of Eric as a violently misogynistic incel as "he has the mind of a child" or "he had a bad childhood/no good role models"... despite him the Bride being the same age and having the same mental capacity (actually, she's a tad bit younger...) and childhood.

I think why I hate and find Eric Frankenstein so annoying is that 1) Obviously he's rather entitled, he feels entitled to The Bride, despite her obvious and repeated rejections of him, that's a rather irritating trait on its own. But 2) He feels and acts like he's in the right, that he is righteous and can do no wrong. So every shitty thing he does is amplified by that.

Oh but I hear you say "Everyone in the show is shitty / an asshole / does fucked up things" yes but they don't pretend to be something that they're not. Dr. Phosphorus is a bastard, sure, but he knows he's a bastard and doesn't pretend to be a hero or justify his shit.

Like Amanda Waller is fucked up, but I like watching her do fucked up shit, it's compelling, interesting, etc. And when she justifies her shit, it's obviously wrong but it's not this...entitlement towards a singular person.

I'm sure there's going to be character growth and all that, yada yada. Gotta wait for the next episode and all that.

AITA for not telling my fiancé I know he’s queer? 

I 20s (F) have a 20s (M) fiancé, V, and he’s been talking about this terrible secret he cannot tell me and he keeps almost starting to come out and then backing out. The issue is V and I were raised together by his parents, and my surrogate 40s (M) father and (now deceased) surrogate mother arranged for our marriage back when we were both children. They thought it was the best for us and at the time we were too young to realize the implications and had no reason to reject to the match. When we were teenagers our mother was on her deathbed and she told us again that she wished for us to marry, and of course we both agreed. However, V is also best friends with a 20s (M) guy called H, and they were nearly inseparable as boys and teens. They also went to university together and shared an apartment but V had to come home due to family reasons. Lately he’s been going out all day and coming home at night hours later. He insists that he’s fine and that we all leave him alone and not worry for him, but I think he and H have been sneaking around. He even delayed our wedding day by arranging a trip to go to England alone with H. It’s exhausting for all of us and I think I should just tell V I know and support him and that we can call off the marriage, but I’m not sure that’s the best course of action? I’m completely fine with not marrying him - he always felt more like a brother to me anyway - but I worry it might come off wrong. The worst part is he’s really beating himself up about it. He’s so guilty it’s beginning to take a toll on his health. I don’t care if he has a boyfriend I just want him to be happy.

The problem with Victor Frankenstein isn't that he's not as smart as he thinks he is. The problem with Victor Frankenstein is that he's exactly as smart as he thinks he is in one very specific area, and he just expects that to automatically translate to every other area of his life and is taken completely by surprise every single time it doesn't.
