Carlos Sainz, son of the former world rally champion, has been proclaimed in Zuera (Zaragoza) runner-up of European karting, behind the Dutch Nick de Vries.
The Dutchman Nick de Vries has been proclaimed today European champion of KF3 in the Circuit of Zuera beating the Spaniards Carlos Sáinz and Gerard Barrabeig, who had dominated the qualifiers of the last two days. Sáinz and Barrabeig could not finish their excellent performance in this weekend leaving the final protagonism to the new champion of Europe in KF3, that returns to repeat victory in Zuera after taking the VSK celebrated last year in the same track.
The victory of Nick de Vries has come as no surprise to viewers who have come to Zuera defying the more than forty degrees of temperature that was on the track, as he had dominated the final from start to finish, surpassing in more than four seconds to Sáinz. The Dutchman has thus completed his journey in Aragon lands after having spent more than two weeks rolling in the circuit of Zuera to prepare in detail this Championship that has come to conquer.
Despite the victory of the Dutch driver, the results of the Spanish reconfirmed the good health of the quarry of the Spanish motorsport. To the second position of Sáinz, who could not keep pace with the winner but did maintain a safe enough distance from his pursuer, joined Adrián del Río's fourth and Victor Colomé's seventh.
Gerard Barrabeig finished eleventh. The Catalan, who came out from the last line of the grid, showed the great class he has been demonstrating throughout this weekend, ahead of 23 riders. If yesterday the bad luck was fattening with the promising debutante Pedro Hitbrand, today Gerard Barrabeig was the great victim after being dismissed off the track in the pre-final that determined the order of exit for the end.
