👻: I think Mater has a fear of abandonment. He knows he can be kind of annoying sometimes and after the events of Cars 2, he especially worries he might accidentally push away those he cares about.

🎶: He's actually a massive fan of rock, punk, metal and heavy metal music. Most people never peg him as the type to enjoy that kind of stuff, but the second any song from those genres comes on, regardless of it's from one of the most famous bands ever or some super obscure indie group, Mater is able to sing along word for word.

👽: There's a part of Mater that genuinely believes in the supernatural/cryptic. He knows all the ghost/alien/cryptid stories and will happily tell anyone who asks about them will 100% sincerity. He is really good at campfire stories because of this, even those not easily spooked can get a shiver up their spine when Mater tells his spooky stories

🦾: In canon, it's been shown that rusty cars literally fall apart, so I feel Mater has some chronic pain because his axles and other such parts are rusted. My headcanon is that rust kinda functions like some mix between a skin condition and a degenerative physical disability. He sometimes just fully breaks down, having to be hauled over to Doc's clinic to be repaired after some part of him just got to rusty and fell apart. It feels a bit ironic that the tow truck needs to be towed around when he breaks down, but the town never makes him feel bad about it. I also headcanon him as autistic. No real reason, hust vibes.

💔: Mater sometimes gets very jealous of Lightning. He loves his bets friend, but it also sometimes feels like he gets sidelined or not given any appreciation compared to his friend. Lightning is constantly in the spotlight, always winning races, getting national attention and having a horde of very loyal fans. Sometimes, it feels like Mater is the stupider of the two, the lesser of the two. Lightning seems to be able to do everything with ease, meanwhile Mater sometimes struggles to even do his job as a tow truck properly. They both are very supportive of each other, but Mater can feel jealous of his best friend, especially when they're fighting.

🪢: Mater has a big extended family! Multiple cousins, uncles, aunts, grandparents and other such family members. His close family, though, is actually pretty small. Just him, his mother, his father, and his sister Mato. Him and his sister are very competitive with each other to the point that outsiders may see the two as actively hating each other.

🔪: Mater's way of fighting is to use his weight and hope that works. He isn't refined at all, just kind of hoping if he hits something hard enough it'll work out. He usually isn't the type to pick a fight though, so it means he's pretty outmatched if he faces against someone who actually knows what they're doing.

💄: A human Mater would be pretty tall and chubby. He'd always be a bit dirty, wearing the same pair of overalls and boots everyday, and he'd probably have a mullet in some shape or form. He'd have a very huggable kind of vibe to him.

😺: Mater likes to feed the local pigeons and crows. (Even though he really probably shouldn't). He feeds them seeds and corn, never enough to make them dependent on him for food, but enough that they recognize his face and love to stop by for a treat.

😭: I feel likes the entire plot of Cars 2 is the worst thing that happened to Mater. Imagine going on a fun little trip with your best friend only to end up roped in a life or death spy thriller involving a mafia plot to discredit alternative fuel that has already killed 2 PROFESSIONAL SPIES. Also you and your bestie are fighting. Like I would've imploded from fear, props to Mater for doing all that with a smile on his face.

🖕: Mater gets very fidgety when he's mad. He'll pace and gesture and just overall be very jumpy. It does take a lot to get him actually angry though since he's just very carefree and happy go lucky, a lot of social cues just flying over his head, especially if it's hidden in sarcasm.

😬: He once broke one of Sally's vases and has never admitted to it. He was in the cozy cone lobby looking for her, backed up to far, and completely shattered the thing. He just kind of brushed it in a corner and drove away because he didn't want her to be mad. To this day she has no idea who did it.

📓: He collects cool rocks. He'll drive around town looking for cool pebbles/rocks and brings the back to his place once he finds one he likes. He has a pretty large collection and some of them are actually really cool, weird rocks and the rest are just normal rocks he thought were nice.

🍫: I think Mater would be a very big fan of salty foods and junk food. Stuff like beef jerky, chips, chocolate, pickled food, ice cream, etc. He isn't picky though and will eat basically all food given to him regardless of quality or actual nutrition.

AHEM. MAJOR WINTER BEGONIA SPOILERS. DOVE DO NOT INTERACT

Winter Begonia begins with Xirui being asked "do you want to perform or live?" with a gun pointed into his head. He says, I want to perform, and touched, the soldier lets him go. Winter Begonia ends with Xirui's lover telling him that if he continues performing national operas in the occupied Beiping, he would die. He invites Xirui to escape to Hong Kong and stay with him. Xirui replies: I want to perform. Previously Xirui always avoided performing one particular play, because he didn't understand the emotions behind a pair of parting lovers and could never sing it right - after shaking hands goodbye with his own lover, for the first time in his life, he performs it perfectly. And there they part.

Almost every Winter Begonia fan I've ever seen and spoken to holds a firm opinion that they met again after WW2 and had a happily ever after. I disagree. I firmly think their parting is a satisfying ending, and moreover, is even more satisfying with the implication that Xirui actually did eventually get killed. I think that's the best possible ending of this story - coming full circle back to the same choice: art or your life! Art or love! And he will always choose art, and eventually, someone won't be as forgiving as the soldier from the beginning. I think it's a beautiful story, actually. I think their romance was even more beautiful because life and their own decisions separated them after years of happiness. It's tragic, yes, but don't gay people deserve good, well-written tragedy too? I think so. I'm actually sick to hell of immature gay love stories. So this is, personally, very refreshing to me.

I also want to include this part of the Winter Begonia opening

And especially the line "They say that our affinity from previous lives will creep into the act; that a face once carved into one's bones will again be the source of fantasies - that suggests both that they had already loved each other in a past life and those memories are unearthed when Xirui performs for Mr. Cheng, and that they will meet once again in the next. So i really see no reason for a sequel in which they are reunited in this one.

Stephan the Cat Furrie from the heavenly planet Pleasure Paradise

Stephan the shy, timid, sometimes neurotic, quiet, sarcastic yet helpful, friendly, very intelligent, kind, outgoing, creative, widely confident, occasionally brave, incredibly loyal, honest and generous Tuxedo Cat Furrie enjoys just resting out in the grassy fields on Pig Island while listening to the charming melody The Singing Flowers hum softy to him at the same time looking up at the clouds or the stars. He first met his original creator Papa Bear (formerly Lachlan Ormerod) when was reduced a poor state of poverty after he was cheated out of his stash of hidden Dragons Treasure aka Dragons Gold by a gang of malicious Ferret, Weasel, Raccoon and Coyote Bandits before having his farmhouse burned down. Stephan then befriended Papa Bear along with his protective guardian angel aka Jodie the four hundred pound Pink Heavenly Whippet and a few other Animal Furries whom they helped. The saddened Cat Furrie explained the story of his ordeal to his newfound friends while camping out for the night while Tyler the Yellow Canary sympathetically went over to the weeping Cat on the butt. Papa Bear kindly offers Stephan a permanent home, to which the latter agreed. Upon finally arriving on Pig Island, however, The Dragon Army from the dreaded planetoid Medievilonia come marching towards The Castle of Heaven aka The Heavenly Castle to storm it of it's lost Dragons Gold. Summoning a sudden burst of pent-up courage Stephan angrily joins in the ensuing battle knocking out a couple of Dragon Soldiers in the process. Papa Bear happily provides a Cat Wand for a surprised Stephan before teaching him some magic. After concocting a Stupidity Spell on the humiliated Dragon Soldiers Papa Bear offered a job opportunity to the empowered Cat if he helped build his farm, to which he gladly accepted. A short while later Stephan works full-time at Georgette's Ice Cream and Yoghurt Co (after the French Ice Cream Cow brought the farm because Papa Bear failed to maintain financial security) as a maintenance manager and a part-time job in The Main Throne Room in The Heavenly Castle as one of Jodie's servants (she is now queen because the thirty five foot tall Pink Heavenly Whippet obtained most of The Dragons Treasure in the castle dungeons). In addition to his current line of work Stephan mostly enjoys visiting The Nude Camp, The Nudist Spa or even one of The Nude Beaches mainly due to his artistic passion for creating clay sculptures of every one of his friends including Tyler the Yellow Canary. Stephan spends the majority of his time singing loudly to ''The Cat Necessities'' while shaking and occasionally bumping his butt against the trees🐱😸😺😹🛖🌴⛰️🏰🏖️🌲🏝️
