So... we all understand that when Narrator Jughead says "I always loved this theater" that's a euphemism for Veronica, right? Like, there's a reason why her silhouette is not only standing behind him, but it's the only time when Betty and Jughead are discussing a character in past tense and they are essentially right fucking there. The movie poster behind Betty is for "The Big Sleep" which is Humphrey Bogart as Philip Marlowe and Lauren Bacall - "Nice Hat, Bacall".
Every time I rewatch that clip there's something else I catch. Everyone is like "She produced three of his comics!". No. She produced FOUR "The Comet" movies, which means that she produced at least four of his story adaptations. He details that she became known as having "impeccable taste" and produced "some of the most iconic films of our time". If The Comet got four movies, then that not only shows how prolific of a storyteller Jughead was, but also that they spent a significant amount of their lives together.
Name a more powerful Hollywood couple than a studio president and a publishing mogul. I'll wait...
I guarantee, somewhere on each of those posters is a version of Jughead's name.
Just want to note that I think Veronica’s shrinking violet note speaks volumes to how she first viewed her relationship with A*chie & how B also felt when she first started dating Jug - when Jug sees her come down the stairs in the morning after his birthday party, she asks him not to say anything about it - and when Ronnie mentions Jug to B about his arm around her (the first Holden Caulfield reference) B somewhat brushes off talking about it.
They both are very open about their relationship this timeline, and it’s so cute to see that all V cared about was J (she constantly and only cares to hold her eyes on him when they’re walking down the hallway).
i'm cackling at all the ~it's the '50s you gotta get married if there's a hint of anything~ episode vibe meanwhile veronica & jughead are having sleepovers at the penbrooke, and she's wanting him to move in, and she's surely moving in with him to the train car once her parents cut her off in ep seven
Something I don't think many have remembered or thought about. Another thing they have in common. Cheryl has given both Jughead and Veronica a spider brooch. Though for different reasons obviously but still.
Jughead got his as a form of an apology of sorts from her. And he obviously didn't know what to make of it.
And Veronica got hers as a friendly reminder of who she is. Despite her abilities. [My phone wasn't able to find the gif of Cherly giving to Veronica so I used my phone recording and YouTube.]
It started innocently enough, with the four of us going on double dates, me and Archie, Jughead and Veronica. And then it kind of naturally evolved from there. Some nights, Archie would sneak into my bedroom and Veronica would go home with Jughead. Other nights, Archie would spend the night at the Pembrooke and I'd go over to Jughead's. And sometimes, more often than you'd imagine, I would find my way to Veronica's.
