hyunjin chart analysis: in the weeds edition

how much can you figure out without a birth time?

lunar nodes, degrees, fixed stars, planetary nodes, basically all kind of deeper cuts.

if you don't know your or someone else's birth time, fear not--there's still a lot of good info. most aspects you can be sure of because the planets are pretty much where they're gonna be. houses, degree of the moon, aspects to the moon--ok very important, but there is still other information you can see.

hyunjin is in a unique position--normally your sun does not change much at all throughout the day, but he's exactly at the tail end of pisces so if he was born after about 5pm he'd be an aries sun at 0. more normal, he has 2 moon options--virgo or libra (after about 2 pm). tbh he gives me pisces with a virgo moon. still, with so much uncertainty, what do we know?

venus exalted in pisces: omg a red flag? i love it

so a planet at home--like hyunjin's mars--is very comfy there, it's gonna manifest how the planet wants to manifest, it's very direct, it has a lot of responsibilities. a planet that is exalted is like a guest. hyunjin's venus does not have to wash the dishes--it's not gonna go through too many trials. it's just gonna vibe.

an exalted planet is very strong and obvious, even if it's not actually a resident of the house (a venus in libra or taurus is equally venus-y but is gonna have to deal with venus issues more often). this suuuper does not mean he doesn't have any issues with the planets' things, it's just that he brings venus energy (beauty, aesthetics, art, love, social things, pleasure) in a shiny bright uncomplicated "special guest" way. venus is gonna rebound more easily. like a moon at home in cancer has so much more emotional Drama than a moon exalted in taurus, u know?

in the neptune decan--extra pisces

sextile jupiter--a sextile is a talent, and jupiter blows it right up. jupiter in taurus makes it more practical and earthy--this is like, a talent for beauty, a talent for art. also people help him with stuff.

square pluto in sagittarius--romantically he is not what i would say... moderate? he can be obsessive and fixate on the idea of the perfect person. you know that pisces thing, that like, a red flag for my collection??? i love it!!! that

also he can be manipulative--with the pisces venus it's likely covert manipulation, like trying to shape the way he's seen or the way people react to him

biquintile leo north node (exact)--i think of the quintile series as the witchy one, it's like a talent, a potential, but obsessive, often witchy vibes too to me--like tapped into something. they aren't obvious or automatic, they have to be developed, like a sextile. for hyunjin this is a talent/obsession for art/music/beauty/aesthetics channeled through his north node--his soul progress through creativity, self expression and recognition

mercury in its fall in pisces conjunct royal star fomalhaut

wheewwww boy there is an exact conjunction between mercury and one of the 4 royal stars/4 archangels, fomalhaut.

if a planet is conjunct a royal star it's like a volt of power and talent--but also the potential for a fall (and it has to be really exact orbs to count, and hyunjin has a 0 which that'll do!). it's the "hand of god" uhhh as we have seen in several religious traditions, that is not always Good. i also have a royal star conjunction and tbh i feel like it's more past lifey--but it still resonates? royal stars always have super dramatic descriptions because they are Ye Olde, and i feel like the Drama is usually a past life thing, but the personality qualities echo in the current life.

fomalhaut is like super condensed neptune in a way. yassified pisces. poet, mystic, divine, liar, escapism, addiction. it's one of the "fame" royal stars too (regulus is the other one). artistic ability, unhinged from reality, potential for really great stuff or really shitty stuff.

like all royal stars a lot depends on if you stay right with god so to speak, u know, like if you don't have good intentions or stay ethical you're gonna get zeus zapped. but also you'll just get zeus zapped to Test Your Mettle for no reason because that's... also a royal star's whole thing. royal stars are a little like saturn to me in that you have to undergo trials-by-fire to access the gifts--in hyunjin's case a poetic, romantic communication ability (remember visual art and performance are also communication!) that can tap into higher level truths.

ironically fomalhaut conjunct mercury risks people lying about you, untrue communication--the traditional text says "worry through slander or damaged reputation." seems pretty on-the-nose but i swear to god that's what it means!

a planet in its fall is confused there and is gonna manifest in weird ways. imagine a virgo or gemini mercury--like zerobaseone hanbin. that's a communication style that really fuckin communicates, right? chatty chat chat with words, the works. mercury in its fall--hyunjin--is gonna learn how to communicate but not in the way mercury usually operates. gonna be more twisty turny, more vibes, more allegorical, more ghosting, more emotions. less chatty chat chat.

I REALIZED I NEVER POSTED ABT THE ECLIPSE

Holy SHIT you guys it was absolutely INSANE. Like being in totality was an EXPERIENCE like it was SO DIFFERENT than just getting the partial eclipse (I remember only seeing the partial one in 2017 so I wanted to drive out to totality for this one LOL)

Leading up to the eclipse is crazy cuz like. It started to get dark, but in a way I never experienced darkness before. The best way I can describe it is like... the world felt like it was getting slightly less saturated. Like a gray filter was slowly being cast over the world. Thats honestly the best way I can describe it and no pictures could do it justice because it just looks like a normal ass slightly-desaturated picture

(It was also wild since i frequently struggle with derealization so its normal for me to feel reality is skewed, but I can always visually confirm reality is normal- whereas this was the opposite. I felt grounded, but reality visually looked skewed. It was wild LMAO)

And as the shadow of the moon approached, you could see the dark on the horizon! It looked super similar to like- the darkness you'd see on an approaching thunderstorm, that sort of darkness in the skies

Also crazy how bright it still is with even a sliver of sun remaining!

And then totality hit and my god... Pictures dont do it justice... Absolutley BREATHTAKING!!! It almost had a blueish hue to it unlike the yellowish hue the sun normally has!!!

Also have this video that really captured the vibe of the eclipse in general!!! AS A NOTE I GOT ONE THING WRONG- I THOUGHT WE WERE ABLE TO SEE JUPITER, THATS VENUS. I DID AN OOPSIE THINKING IT WAS JUP.

Science fact of the day- Jupiter!

Jupiter is the big guy of the planets. it's mass is 2.5 that of every other planet combined (which is extra impressive considering saturn makes up well over 2/3rds of that other mass). Jupiter is probably the oldest, too, which is likely why it was able to get so large. Because of this, Jupiter has long been the primary force influencing the other planets, and scientists are very interested in the history of Jupiter and its location in the solar system because of its effects. one theory states that Jupiter formed further out from the sun than its current position, then drifted all the way in to where the asteroid belt is today, and in doing so disrupted the orbits of super-earth planets, which collided and were destroyed, leaving behind rubble which would've become earth and the other rocky planets. This is just one of several theories on Jupiter's past, but I don't really have time to go into that all. nowadays, Jupiter mainly affects asteroids. for awhile, it was thought that jupiter protects Earth from asteroids by sheparding them around and flinging them outta the solar system, but in reality, it actually brings more asteroids down into earth-hitting range than there otherwise would be, so at the very least, it's neutral in the matter. don't blame jupiter for the dinosaurs going bye bye.

aside from how it affects the other planets, Jupiter itself is a very interesting planet. it's actually about as big as a planet of its size and age could be- if you continued adding mass, the planet would stay roughly the same size until about 40% more mass, at which point it would begin contracting due to gravity. Saturn shows this pretty well- it's almost the exact same size as Jupiter (about 8000 km less in radius, which is a lot but less than 10% it's total radius.) however, Jupiter wasn't always this size- its been shrinking for a long time, and letting off heat in the process. Jupiter lets off about 2x the heat it gets from the sun. when Jupiter was first formed, it was probably about twice it's current radius, meaning it would've been far, far less dense, and it would've been exceptionally hotter. it for sure would've been very bright in the night sky.

But even now, Jupiter is still the second brightest object at night, after only Venus (not counting the Moon and Sun). as such, it's had a fairly signifigant culture impact. The Romans and Greeks asigned it their most powerful gods who sat at the top of the Pantheon, although they actually didn't do it first- ancient Babylon assigned it one of their most powerful gods, and that probably influenced Zues and Jupiter's mythology and representation as the planet. In the East, Jupiter was the basis for the Chinese Zodiac- Jupiter has a roughly 12 year orbit, and so each year of the Chinese Zodiac is named after the constillation that Jupiter was opposite from at that time. It's actually possible that a chinese astronomer over 2000 years ago observed at least one of the Galilean moons, observing it as "a star which travelled alongside Jupiter," although this claim is still debated.

As telescopes were developed and we could observe Jupiter in detail, astronomers noted major cloud bands, and most notably, the Great Red Spot. The great read spot is a massive storm in Jupiter's atmosphere which is just. enourmous in scale. when you see a picture you're like, oh, that's not that big, but the width is wider than the fucking Earth and the whole storm is hundreds of kilometers deep and extends several kilometers above the other clouds. The Great Red Spot has been there since we started observing Jupiter, and is probably a permanant feature of Jupiter- or at least, it'll be there for a long, long time. frankly this thing kinda terrifies me and if there's one thing in the universe thats caused by an eldritch horror it's the Great Red Spot. i dont trust it. honestly this image only sorta does it justice. earth is so fucking small compared to jupiter.

Welcome to our night sky monthly feature where we focus on easy and fun things to see in the night sky, mostly with just your eyes. This month is a spectacular time to check out planets: there is a planet parade across the evening sky including Mars at opposition looking its brightest for a couple of years, as well as the standardly super-bright Venus and Jupiter. Also, this month we’ll see a planetary alignment — an often confusing, sometimes misleading, term that we’ll explain.
