Want to get some last minute holiday shopping done, but don't want to wait for shipping?
Well come on down to the Community Bazaar held by Ignition and Fire Camp on December 5th, and stay cozy by fire light as you explore a selection of vendors and watch the talented crew perform.
https://facebook.com/events/s/december-open-practice-communi/3876670872595961/
This will be my last in-person booth of the faire and festival season, so come on over if you're able and say hi.
Custom orders will also be available onsite and will come with free shipping for those looking to upgrade their adventure gear for the new year.
I'll also be bringing my fire sword and shield. 😉 🔥
I hope you all have a warm and wonderful week. 💛🧡❤️

okay so i told my coworkers i went and checked out the local winter pow wow over the weekend and like half of them didn’t even know what that is?? and the rest were like “but you’re white is that allowed?” so:
#i’m really sorry if this isn’t okay for me to poll about as a white person but i was absolutely amazed at how little my coworkers knew#about these (open to the public and free) events!#i grew up going with my mom and her best friend who danced in her regalia most times#so i thought this was a normal thing north americans were used to doing!!#it’s such a fun experience with great food and vendors and a chance to experience cultures outside your own#anyway uh this won’t show up in tags but#poll

do you think academic librarians feel about the public adulation for jstor the way i feel about the public attitude towards libby (i.e., negative)?
#library#librarians of tumblr i summon thee: is it annoying to have people experience affection for individual vendors? it seems like it might be?#i understand the 'well if they're using our services that's great :)' attitude but surely there are limits?#i mean the jstor thing is also complicated because their staff made the choice to call the cops on aaron swartz#libby is just owned by venture capital. i haven't seen anybody waxing rhapsodic about hoopla. kanopy is sort of popular?#hoopla is owned by midwest tape a longtime library a/v supplier#& they put straight up n*zi shit in a bunch of library collections in like 2021 because their vetting is. um. not great#kanopy is owned by the same investment firm that owns libby/overdrive; they have a monopoly in the public library market#(ala estimates >90% of libraries that offer ebooks use libby)#they're also big with schools; if you've used the sora app that's the same company#vendors in academic publishing are also very bad! everybody hates elsevier but they aren't the only ones by a mile#anyway. feel free to weigh in#this is probably a facebook question but i am not going on there

Between all the podcasts & video essays on Willy’s Chocolate Experience & adding Wonka (2023) to my watchlist on MAX, the phrase “Wonkavania” suddenly dissolved to my mind & I was struck by just how intriguing of an idea of a Metroidvania game set in Wonka’s Massive Highly Dangerous Factory would be. A mix of Candly Land & Hollow Knight. Putting the idea out into the ether to be grabbed by someone actually qualified & competent enough to make such a game.

“you want me to not have copyright on my own work? you want a big megacorp to just be able to take my work and make money on it, or making it so nobody will ever see it, leaving me entirely out of the loop, if they desire?”
the current copyright system:
#idk why people immediately decide that if they didn’t have ‘copyright’ they wouldn’t be able to sell thier own books.#this is an half baked idea but i think a system where you had to disclose who the author/orginator of anything sold was#and weather or not buying the thing from this vendor would give them money would be an idea.#i also think people usually want people to experience their work more than they want to be purely paid for it. but without pay you cannot#afford creating more things in the current economic system.#so now we have staunch copyright defenders who allow amazons fucked up business practices to profit of them

I have made too many decisions this week. I’m done. No more decisions, no more meetings, no more purchasing or making or canceling appointments. I have surpassed decision fatigue and landed in some extreme-doneness category never been seen before. And I still have to buy groceries.
#in other news it fucking sucks to buy things anymore#i tried to buy a case for work like. money is no object whatever works best etc#from any of three vendors#and in something I have quite literally 10 years of experience vetting#and nope it’s just a wasteland of scams and ai generated photos and reviews that are all sponsored#everything is fake and also sucks#LT talks#this last 90 minutes is going to be the longest of my life

-->And Roxana did, going straight for a $3 cone of ice cream! Which, to my surprise and delight, prompted Smiler to gain a special Confident moodlet about selling ice cream on an extremely hot day, “The Coolest Vendor In Town!” XD Plus a separate moodlet for selling excellent-quality food. :) And, as usual, once one Sim had bought something, all the others in the area were eager to check things out! Notable sales included:
I. A guy named Asa trying out the mushroom waffles
II. Someone named Finley also going for a cone of chocolate ice cream
III. Roxana coming back for something more filling and also trying the mushroom waffles
IV. A guy named Mitchell taking a chance on the seafood pizza
V. Someone named Desmond deciding to go for a BOWL of ice cream, because why settle for a cone
VI. Don Lothario showing up and being convinced to buy a slice of Curious Pizza because I thought it was funny
VII. And my very first Sim ever made, Geeker McTest (in this save file a minor celebrity), showing up and also grabbing a bowl of ice cream. :)
Not bad at all, huh? The day’s profits weren’t amazing – $233 for five ice creams, four waffles, one slice of seafood pizza, and one slice of Curious pizza – but the gang doesn’t need the money, they just do this so people have good things to eat that they might not be able to get in their home worlds. :) Plus it’s just fun!
-->Ah, but what were Victor and Alice doing while Smiler was getting their sale on? Well, Victor ended up helping Alice with the ribs (by standing around and chatting with her, because he couldn’t do much else), then they each had a plate (chowing down with Roxana as she enjoyed her waffles) before heading over to the chess tables to play a game! As they both had a want to do so, you see. They spent their time chatting and flirting while Smiler worked the crowd, with Alice ultimately winning the match. All that time spent in Looking-Glass Land must have really made her a chess queen! (Literally – she does indeed get a fancy crown and everything at the end of that book. XD)
-->Once the food sale was over, it was time to start taking care of everyone's needs! Smiler, who was thirsty, went over and chatted with Roxana, learning a bit more about her (“she/her” pronouns, dislikes pop music and fitness) before convincing her to let them have a drink, while Victor and Alice, meanwhile, both used the toilet (with Victor nearly getting walked in on by KATRINA! Caliente – decorum, woman!). Alice then had a brief cloudgaze while Victor went around the side of the building to privately practice Untamed Magic, getting the “Necrocall” spell (which lets you summon ghosts from their gravestones) in the process (and a cute little message from Darkwing saying “New spells are fun!” :) ). I then tried to have Alice and Victor build a sand sculpture together to wrap up the day...
Only for Victor to just stand around supervising while Alice and SMILER ended up building a sand cowplant out the front of the park. O.o Well, I guess that’s one way for them all to participate? It was starting to get a little late, though, and I didn’t want the food in Smiler’s inventory to go bad...
#sims 4#the lazy save#victor van dort#alice liddell#smiler always#this is the way of food sales I have seen#it takes a while for that first customer to show up and buy something#but once they do the floodgates open#and yeah getting that little moodlet about being the Coolest Vendor In Town really tickled me#it is nice when they add in little touches like that#and makes me very glad I put the ice cream on offer XD#and yes it very much amused me to see Don Lothario of all people show up#and then to force him to buy the Curious pizza#I worked hard on this Sims 2 reference made with alien fruit#SOMEBODY had to try it XD#also nice to see Geeker show up#my goofy little 'let's test how the game runs' Sim#who got kind of abandoned when I ditched this save file after my first experience with Sim culling#he seems to be living his best life honestly#good for him :)#and yes the KATRINA! thing is a reference to James Turner's LPs#I've watched a number of them and thus I know that joke well XD#and yeah don't know what happened with the sand sculpture there#I mean I'll TAKE it but#weird game is weird sometimes#queued

bro indoor ren fair is bleak. just let me get rained on next time. this shit needs to be under the open sky. out in the grass and the dirt. it aint right.
#toy txt post#that shit is supposed to be Outside what are you DOING#i did not want a Con experience! trying to give me mega covid. ren fair should be under the open sky#i should be taking shelter from the rain under vendor tents and then feeling compelled to buy something cos of it#the performances should not be echoing in a big bleak building bouncing sounds off each other! bleak i tell u! fuck#i had a decent time all things considered but at what cost! i better not get sick#this is exactly why i didnt go to any of the winter events that were nominally similar. cos i did not want to be holed up in a big#miserable building about it. what are you dooooiiiiing. how many other bitches did you surprise w this indoor shit too#cos i saw so many rain ponchos inside💀 we coulda dealt with the rain pleeeeeeease

#sad day.#when the piano shipped the box had giant holes in it#i regret this. i should have refused delivery.#but i was an idiot and i thought how bad can it be? so i opened the box and the pedal board is broken. like as in broken broken.#the box also showed other damage that wasn't just the holes#so i hoping they will send me another one#this time buying something this big and expensive and it was not the happy experience i thought it would be.#gonna call the vendor tmr. i have pictures to prove everything#the holes looked like they rammed a forklift into it#probably why the pedal board is broken#anyway im tired. probably made a few typos in the prev tags but idc.#i have to say for the past week i kept having dreams where something i treasured was broken. and then it really happened#but i can't wake up from this one

We can tell you're Canadian bc of the "ow" sound in house & about! It's pretty much the only noticeable difference between a Midwestern American and a general Canadian accent lol
I just spent the better part of five minutes recording myself saying these two words and trying to listen for the difference hjdfbvhs
I guess, on listening back, there is one, but to me it's so minor. Apparently it's real obvious to Californians and New Yorkers though...
#i think it may be that i'm really accustomed to hearing american accents on tv and stuff so the difference to me doesn't register super well#since i'm accustomed to them#but americans don't tend to hear as many canadian accents so i guess it stands out more#storyrambles#thanks for the ask!#actually that reminds me of this one guy in new york who we stopped to chat with because he had a vendor with some neat products#and he realized we were canadian and. immediately got really weird about it#like. tried to get us to say stereotypical 'aboot' and 'eh' and when we said no one actually says that he just straight up didn't believe u#and then got more forceful about it. like we were hiding our true accents from him. we eventually had to walk away because it got#way too uncomfortable.#really weird experience.

Lorre: Yesss, for you see, it was secretly I, the evil twin all along
Lorre: I thought I was the evil twin.
Lorre: quiet, you're spoiling the reveal
#peter lorre#starfield#I have been experimenting with some tweaks to the gameplay#and let me tell you some extremely minor changes are such a relief#the game is so stingy with vendor credits and xp earned#so I multiplied both 5 or 10 times; what a difference it makes!#see that's all I wanted#I don't mind a challenging grind but the xp curve was such that it was damn near impossible before#30-50xp for an average enemy or small quest and 100xp for an overleveled enemy when the next level is 10000xp away#🙄 puhleeze#it's like they didn't want people to play this game

forgot to post about it earlier so im posting about it now. mists of pandaria timewalking started today which meant i could finally buy one of my top ten most wanted WoW mounts 💚 peace and love and glowing noodles on planet azeroth
#also there was a cloud serpent conga line next to the vendor which really made the whole experience tbh#yin-thoughts#world of warcraft#it's probably the easiest heavenly cloud serpent by far to actually acquire but im still so happy to finally have one (1) of them#maybe someday the onyx will drop and i'll have a grand total of two!
