Song Review: Keith Richards - “I’m Waiting for the Man”
If there’s anyone unkempt and druggy enough to convincingly cover “I’m Waiting for the Man,” it’s Keith Richards.
And so it shall be.
The Rolling Stone re-recorded the Velvet Underground & Nico track for the forthcoming various-artists collection The Power of the Heart: A Tribute to Lou Reed. It’s also the lead single.
With a short a capella intro and higher fidelity than the original, Richards nevertheless stays close to Reed and the Velvet’s arrangement while transforming it into the quintessential Keef Riff Hard cut. Not small feat, that, but Richards knows of which he sings on “I’m Waiting for the Man.”
“To me, Lou stood out,” Richards said in a statement. “The real deal! Something important to American music and to all music. I miss him and his dog.”
Arriving on 4/20 - natch - The Power of the Heart includes contributions from a motley array of admirers including Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Rufus Wainwright, Lucinda Williams, Maxim Ludwig and Angel Olsen, Rickie Lee Jones, Mary Gauthier, Bobby Rush, Automatic, the Afghan Whigs, Rosanne Cash and Brogan Bentley.
Grade card: Keith Richards - “I’m Waiting for the Man” - B+

“and for my husband,” // rafe cameron blurb
synopsis : you do the 'husband' trend on your boyfriend.
Tumblr media
“that’ll be a large,”
as you dig into your wallet, pulling out some cash to pay for your drinks, rafe doesn’t even realize what comes out of your lips until it’s too late. “and my husband will take an expresso.”
the cashier doesn’t seem to care or even notice his widened eyes as she rings you up, while her coworker gets started on your drinks. “your total will be $10.49. are you paying cash or card?”
you hand a ten dollar bill and a one dollar bill and hold it out for her. “cash.” you reply, watching as she takes it from you and you can notice rafe is staring at you, with parted lips.
did you just say what he think he heard?
"that'll be a few minutes on the end."
"great, thank you." you share a smile before reaching for rafe's hand and dragging him over to the opposite end of the counter to wait. rafe has no other choice but to follow after, cheeks undoubtedly a tinge of pink. still holding your hand, he pulls you towards him, making you spin to him.
"so.. husband, huh?"
you purse your lips to hide your breaking smile as you peer up at him innocently. "hm? what's wrong?"
rafe chuckles in disbelief at your innocent act and coy attitude as his grin grows wider. "what was that all about just now? im your husband now?"
you simply shrug and turn away but the mischievous smile curling on your lips give you away. "well, eventually right? i have to practice at some point." as you're giggling, rafe just shakes his head with a small roll of his eyes but his smile softens.
and when he leans forward to press a kiss to your forehead, he hums. meanwhile his other hand lays in his pocket, his fingers wrapped around a small velvet box.
"well, that's the plan."
Tumblr media
a/n : just fluff. i think doing tiktok trends on rafe would be so cute and funny haha. i might make a series lmao.

I wouldn't exactly say I have the same relation to "sad songs" that I most people do. I do not cry, and I have a hard time expressing emotion, though I've never understood why. Regardless, this does not mean that I don't have go-to "something is wrong with me" songs. The songs on today's playlist are songs that still move me in my sadness, despite my seeming unwillingness to release my emotion. Some are meant to be sad, some, not so much. Some I would even say are supposed to spark a feeling of elation. As I said, emotions are complicated. But these songs patch the holes in my mind, even if temporarily. I also feel as if these songs are a gateway into my mind. From my, albeit very biased, point of view, most of these songs directly relate to my trauma or philosophy. There's quite a few today, so strap in.
"Road to Nowhere" by Talking Heads
"See You Around" by Vic Chesnutt
"Coward" by Vic Chesnutt
"Heroin" by The Velvet Underground
"The Sun's Gone Dim and the Sky's Turned Black" by Jóhann Jóhannsson
"Waloyo Yamoni" by Christopher Tin
"I'm Set Free" by Brian Eno
"By This River" by Brian Eno
"The Belldog" by Eno Moebius Roedelius
"Vito's Ordination Song" by Sufjan Stevens
"The Upper Peninsula" by Sufjan Stevens
"Dear God" by XTC
"Knee 5" by Philip Glass
"Movement I: Subterraneans" by Philip Glass
"Aguirre I" by Popol Vuh
"Hurt" by Johnny Cash
"Here Comes the Flood" by Robert Fripp
"Hammond Song" by The Roches
"How to Disappear Completely" by Radiohead
"Hearth's Shadow" by Andrew Prahlow
"'Heroes'" by David Bowie
"Further In" by Greg Brown
"Lie to Me" by David Byrne
