Someone Like You - J.Seresin
Summary: Being best friends with a naval aviator was hard, being best friends and in love with the Jake "Hangman" Seresin was even harder.
Pairing: Jake "Hangman" Seresin x Medic!Reader
Warnings: 18+, fluff, there is a small bit of angst, jake kind of bein douche, best friends to lovers troupe because top tier, oblivous by both parties.(if i missed any lemme know)
The request: If you're open to requests, I have one for you! It could be about Tyler, Jake, or Glen—whichever you prefer. The story would revolve around them being very close friends, but he’s always surrounded by girls. The reader begins to pull away, feeling inadequate or thinking she's not pretty enough, believing he could never see her as more than just a friend. I’d love for it to have a sweet, fluffy ending!
authors note: to the anon who requested this, thank you! I hope i have done justice to what you envisioned! - I really love getting requests because ya'll got some great ideas! If you have requested something, I promise i will get to it!! love, em. <333
The sun was sat snugly high in the blue sky. Sitting under the rays, you watched the group of aviators run through the sand covered in sweat. Sitting perched on the towel and sunglasses on your nose.
You never expected this to be your life after moving from your hometown to be a field medic with a group of aviators.
“You done sunbathing?” you look up behind the aviators to the man above you, blocking the sun from your eyes.
Jake Seresin in all his glory, hands on his hips.
“Can I help you?” pulling the sunglasses down your nose, you look at him over the rims with a raised brow. He chuckles, pushing the hair that was sticking to his forehead back.
He has been on leave for the last two weeks, letting his hair grow out of regs. "Are you done crisping like a chicken and gonna come play a game?” He holds his hand to you, which you take happily and he pulls you from the sand with a grunt.
“I don’t know if I should” you push the bridge of the sunglasses back up your nose. “What?! You are playing c’mon” he encourages you over, jogging ahead of you in the sand.
You watch as the rest of the the dagger squad who has been nothing but kind to you, encourage you. Then there's the group of aviators who were glued to the squad, more so Jake than others.
They giggle between themselves. You never knew joining the Navy was gonna have the same effects of highschool.
“(y/n)!” Jake’s voice pulls you from your thoughts, a grin on his face. “C’mon! One game!?” he pouts, hands on his hips. You sigh and make your way down the sand, pulling the shorts on your body to cover your bikini bottoms.
The dagger squad was your adopted family. You met them all in your time on the ships as a field medic but as well as at base when Jake made his way into your office quite often to get ‘looked at’.
“Dude! I had no idea you were this good at this” Phoenix wraps her arm around your shoulders as you walk back to your things with a giggle. “I blame Hangman for hiding you from us” you smile, grabbing your towel and bag of items and standing back to your full height.
Turning to say something, your thoughts run short as the girls again circle around Jake, hands on his arms as they all giggle.
He did have the million dollar smile.
“You coming to the hard deck with us?” Bradley asks, standing beside phoenix. You turn to the taller man, smiling up at him as you shake your head. “I return back to work tomorrow unlike some people” you chuckle, nudging him gently.
He nods, hands held up in defense as you smile. “See you soon though?” he asks as you are walking up the sand, you grin. “Of course! Someones bound to get hurt” you wink, making your way back to your own vehicle.
“Sweetheart!” you sigh, the southern drawl was almost like a vice around your brain. Setting your items in the back of your Jeep, you turn to face him. “You aren’t coming?” he asks, stopping in front of you,panting to catch his breath. You shake your head, “I have to work tomorrow captain”. He smirks, pushing a hair out of your face gently.
“Not even for one drink?” he asks as you shake your head. “No but I will be up to pick you up if you need me” he chuckles, leaning down to kiss your cheek as he jogs over to his truck.
Ally, another pilot in Top gun standing at the passenger side was waiting for him. “See you later sweetheart!” he waves.
Sighing heavily you climb into your jeep, immediately turning the radio up loudly and driving away.
You knew you were not the only woman in Jake’s life. He was charming with his green eyes and winning smile but everytime you would do anything with him, the woman gravitated to him like he was the opposite end of their magnets.
Driving through the city, your heart hurt a bit. You knew how childish it seemed.
How childish it was to be upset that he had the female gaze, he was tall, tan and kind under his hundred layers of ego. As you made your way into your home, the phone in your hand vibrated.
Jake: Let’s get together this week for dinner? Drinks?
you smile sadly at the text. You knew he enjoyed your company. You replied.
you: Sure Jake, sounds good
The text bubble appeared but you chose for your own mental state it was best to mute the conversation for the time being.
3am on the dot your phone rang.
You knew who was on the other line. Reaching over, you grab the phone off the nightstand. “Hello?” you mumble, rubbing your eyes. “(y/n)” you sigh at the sound of Bradleys voice.
“Hey roo” you mumble, eyes closed as you pinch the bridge of your nose. “I think you should come get Jake… maybe me too?” he questions as you chuckle softly. “Be there shortly” you hang up and climb out of bed.
Grabbing the closest sweatshirt to you and make your way outside and down to the hard deck. Dressed in your pajamas, you make your way inside the bar, still roaring with life even on a Sunday night.
Jake and Bradley sat at the bar with Penny who grins at your arrival. “Cute” she mumbles as you shake your head, making your way to them.
“Let’s go boys” you pat both of their shoulders, encouraging them out the door. “Is that my sweatshirt?” Jake questions as you look down at the hoodie on your body.
“Yes it is, let's go” you motion to the door. “Jakey!” Ally gasps, running to Jake at the door. You can’t help the way you cringe, pulling some cash out of your pocket. “How much do the two of them owe?” you ask Penny who shakes her head.
“They’ll both come and pay tomorrow, I trust it” you sigh, smiling at her. “I gotta go” you can hear the faint slur in Jake’s voice. “But i thought we were gonna have some fun” she bites her lip, looking up at him through her lashes, in her drunken state attempting to look as sexy and sultry as possible.
Jake shakes his head and makes his way out the door. You follow both men out to your parked Jeep as Lindsey stares daggers into your back.
The car ride is silent except for the wind. You pulled into Bradleys apartment first, parking right by the steps, he climbs out.
“Thanks love, you’re the best” he reaches in to kiss your cheek as he makes his way up the steps. “Hey!” Jake scolds him as Bradley smirks and makes his way to his apartment. “Can I move to the front now?” Jake asks childishly. “Yes Jakob” you sigh with a smile.
He climbs out and makes his way into the front seat beside you as you pull out of the parking lot and make your way down the road to Jake’s apartment. “Thanks for coming to get me honey” he whispers, his slur is almost gone at this point. “You’re welcome” you mumble, rubbing your eyes with a yawn.
“I’m sorry I did this to you” he mumbles as you shake your head. “I’d rather you be safe” you mumble.
“Why don’t you like to come get drinks with me anymore?” his drunk words flow out of him like vomit.
“I just don’t enjoy it much anymore, J” he nods slowly.
He knew you were lying but chose not to pry anymore while you were tired. “Can I come home with you?” he asks. Jake was quite needy in his semi-drunken state.
He did live down the road from you and did frequent your guest room often, hence his hoodie laying around your home. “I guess” you smirk, making the turn to your own home over Jakes.
He stumbles inside once the vehicle is parked. He was mostly sobered up as he made his way to the guest room. “See you in a few hours” he mumbles as you shake your head and make your way to your own bedroom.
The guest bedroom door opens, Jake makes his way out in a pair of black sweatpants he had left in the dresser drawer. "Sweetheart?" he questions as he yawns, making his way down the steps. He stops at the end of the stairs, looking around.
He notices the fresh smell of coffee and the few dishes in the sink. He jogs back up the stairs to see your bedroom door open, looking around its then he notices the pink note stuck to his door. Pulling it off the door, he sighs.
off to work, lock up on your way out.
+
The hard deck jukebox could be heard from streets away, it left you grinning. You pull into the parking lot, The Eagles “Life in the fastlane” playing through the speakers.
You don’t know how Rooster and Phoenix talked you into this but you climbed out and made your way inside. Dressed in a tank top and pair of denim shorts you look through the crowd for your favorite aviators.
“Sweetheart!” Jake’s voice yells for you, you look up at the sound of his voice. He pushes through the crowd of people to get to you.
He's singing to you as he approaches, "and she was terminally pretty" he grins, looking you up and down, “I didn’t know you were coming,” he smiles.
You looked so beautiful.
“Uh-yeah rooster and nat invited me” you smile up at him and move past him to your friends. Phoenix was aware of your feelings for Jake.
How hard it was to be out with him as he was always surround by woman, not once looking your way with them around. “Roo” you smile, patting his shoulder as he pulls you into his side for a hug.
“There's my favorite medic!” he grins as you chuckle. Jake makes his way back over to the group, sitting down as Ally makes her way to him, climbing in his lap.
He doesn’t hesitate to let her, adjusting in the seat to accommodate her. You sigh, turning to face Phoenix and Rooster.
“I don’t get it” you raise a brow, looking up from the table at the sound of Phoenix's voice. “What’s that?” you ask, crossing your leg over the other and arms over your chest.
“He acts like he wants to be around you so badly and then acts like that” she motions over to Jake, sitting back in his chair arm around Ally's waist, her group of friends around the two of them. You shrug, “not my problem anymore” you mumble, fishing out a few bills from your back pocket.
“I'm sorry to be a buzzkill but, thanks for inviting me guys but I think I’m gonna head home” you hand them the money to cover your drink and stand from the booth. Rooster stands, hands on your shoulders. “You don’t deserve him” he mumbles, giving your shoulder a squeeze and pulling you into a hug.
You hug him back and sigh heavily. “I guess I just have to get under a guy, they say that's the best way to get over one” you mumble against his chest as he laughs.
“See, that's the spirit” he grins, smiling at you. “Let us know if you need anything” he encourages as you smile.
It had been a week since your night at the hard deck with rooster and phoenix
a week before you decided it was best to put your distance between you and Jake.
The phone beside you began ringing. You knew exactly who it was. Reaching over you ignore the call for the second time and
Within seconds the phone rings again. You reach over and turn the phone off completely.
You did not have the energy to go and pick him up once again.
Maybe you would get over the man that is Jake Seresin.
rolling over and burying yourself deeper in the sheets of your bed, tears in your lash line as you sniffle to avoid them from falling.
You felt silly being this upset about a man who was not yours to be upset about.
You knew that he was a charming man when the two of you became friends, you also knew he looked at you as just that, a friend.
You shake your head and close your eyes.
The next morning as you turned your phone back on, the text messages piled in.
24 missed calls and 45 text messages.
You sigh and choose to delete the text messages and mute the conversation you have with him once again.
The drive to base was peaceful as you pulled into your designated parking lot. You were not gonna let this affect your work. “(y/n)!” you look over at Coyote waving to you,smiling, you wave back and mock salute to him.
He smiles, saluting back to you as he makes his way inside. Making your way to your office, you ignore the urge to turn and go down the hall to where you knew the dagger squad was meeting.
Jake sits down beside Rooster and Phoenix.
If looks could kill the two of them would be long gone.
“Can I help you?” Phoenix speaks first, arms crossed. “Spill” he adjusts in the seat, elbows resting on his knees as he looks between the two of them. “Spill what Hangman?” Rooster asks,looking over at him from his phone.
“Why won’t (y/n) talk to me” he mumbles, looking between them again. “Isn’t that a question for her?” Phoenix asks with a raised brow.
“I tried, I called her over a hundred times last night with no response” he defends as Phoenix shrugs. “I don’t know what to tell you Hangman” Rooster nods in agreement with his girlfriend and Jake sighs heavily and stands from the chair.
“(y/l/n)” turning at the sound of your name,clipboard in hand you raise your brow. “Yes ma’am” you set the clipboard down and approach your commanding officer. “We are going to need you to go out and assist in the atlantic” you nod quickly, “of course ma’am” she grins, reaching out to give your shoulder a reassuring squeeze.
“I know you don’t love being tied down to one place too long” she smirks, heading to the door, “you will be heading out in the morning” you nod eagerly, ”and a car will be picking you up” she smiles with a nod and walks out the door.
You take a deep breath and wipe your once sweaty palms on your pants. You knew you needed to tell the dagger squad.
With a deep breath you head down the hall to the common room.
“Hangman, where are you?!” you can hear Fanboys voice over the comms. You knock gently on the door, Coyote,Phoenix,Rooster and Bob all turn to you.
“Hi” you wave as you make your way into them, sitting down beside Phoenix. Her face is full of concern, “what is it?” she asks as you turn to your closest friends.
“I’m being sent out tomorrow morning, they need additional medics out in the atlantic, of course I don’t know the full extent” you look at them, not seeing Jake standing in the doorway, panting.
“You’re leaving?” your eyes snap to Jake.
He’s still in his flight suit, the top half around his waist with his black tank top sticking to his skin. You turn from his eye back to Phoenix and Bob.
The two of them smile, nodding slowly. “We should go to the hard deck and have a send off party!” Coyote tries to lighten the mood, immediately noticing the tension in the room.
“I agree” Rooster chimes in, looking over at you. You smile sadly, “if you guys want I suppose” they cheer as you stand.
Jake hasn’t moved from the doorway, watching you. He watched the way you avoided his eye.
Walking out of the room, you brush Jake’s shoulder as you begin to walk down the hall to your office. You bit your lip as you heard his boots follow, you knew you couldn’t escape him anymore.
“(y/n)!” he reaches out, grabbing your shoulder to stop your movements. “What Jake?” you ask, turning to face him tilting your head. “What do you mean what?!” he defends, looking at you.
“You haven’t talked to me in days!” He throws his hands up, “not even days, weeks! You won’t answer my calls, you won't answer my text messages, you ignore me when you see me at work or even out in public!” he defends as his hands fall at his sides.
“Explain it to me!” he adds, hands on his hips as he looks over your face. “I’ve not been ignoring you” you whisper, looking up at him through your lashes, “bullshit” he sits.
You sigh, hands on your own hips as you see conference room doors open and close. You knew his voice was traveling through the base.
“Not here Jake” you sigh softly, walking down the hall towards your office. “Explain it to me here (y/n)!” he yells.
You close your eyes, feeling the tears begin to fall down your cheeks.
You knew you shouldn’t have this conversation in the hallway of your place of employment. You can hear his boots approaching, you snap.
“Because I love you!” you yell back to face him, face red with tears. “I love you and I know you wouldn’t love someone like me!” you point to your chest looking at him as the tears begin to roll down your cheeks.
“I am not them!” you point out the window to Ally and the rest of the new top gun recruits on the tarmac. “I am not tall and sexy and-” Jake stands there, shocked at your reaction.
“You wouldn’t love someone like me! You-You- I am not Jake Seresin material and I can’t take you staying in my house anymore and I can’t take you being around me anymore because I knew” you sob, looking away from him.
“Distancing myself was going to help my heart get over you” you whisper turning around from him.
“This time away may be best for me” Jake's boots squeak along the concrete floors. “(y/n)” he whispers, he’s directly behind you now. Your shoulders shake, months of tension falling off your shoulders.
He reaches out, grabbing your shoulder to gently turn you back to face him, cupping your cheek to gently bring your eyes back to him. He’s also got tears rolling down his cheeks.
“Someone like you?” he whispers, looking over your face. “Someone who I have seen devote her life to others? Someone who I absolutely adore, who would spring to help anyone even at 3am after a drunk night at the bar. Someone like you” he chuckles, shaking his head. “I’m not them Jake” you whisper as he shakes head, “and that’s what makes you so special” he reaches over and wipes your cheeks with his thumb.
“I love you (y/n)” he chuckles, shaking his head. “I can’t believe you couldn’t see it” he chuckles as you look at him.
“Me!?” you defend as he grins. “I adore you, I fell in love with you years ago sweetheart” he watches the look in your eye, watching as you look at him, looking into the green eyes that brought you so much comfort.
“Y-You love me?” you look over his face for any signs of a joke, he chuckles. “I love you, not them other girls, not anyone but you” he smiles, leaning down to connect your lips.
It takes you a moment to register what is happening by the time you are reaching up to wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him in closer to you.
He pulls away slowly after a few minutes, nose nudging yours as his eyes close. “I can’t believe you” he whispers, “thinking I couldn’t love someone like you” your eyes close, a small smile on your lips.
“I am not someone you’d go for J” you whisper with a smile as he shakes his head, pulling you into his chest. Wrapping your arms around his waist you sniffle against his black tank top.
“This is horrible timing” you mumble.
“I’ll be here when you get back sweetheart” he whispers against your hairline.
+
The helicopter ride was quiet. The voices in your mind were louder.
You smile as the base comes into view, “we’re almost home” the pilot, Maria grins at you through her aviators.
You were off base for three months, sharing letters and as many zoom phone calls as possible with Jake and the rest of the dagger squad.
The tarmac is laid out as the helicopter begins its descent. You pull the headset off and stand, leaning out the side of the helicopter, hands holding the handles. The smell of the ocean brought you a sense of comfort.
You knew the minute you laid eyes on Jake and your family, you would be home. You can hear cheering from the ground as the chopper finally lands. Climbing down, you stand on the pavement and take a deep breath.
You were home.
The doors opened and the dagger squad all rushed out. “She’s home!” Rooster yells with a smile on his face. You grin, standing on the big x. This was your family.
Ally and her group of friends follow Jake out of the doors.
Your eyes fall to each other as she continues to attempt to grab onto his arm. “Scuse me” he moves from her and begins his jog to you.
You meet him halfway and he grabs you by the waist and spins your around, holding you close to his body. You laugh, wrapping your arms around his neck, hiding your face in his shoulder. “My girl is home!” he grins, setting you to your feet.
“Welcome home sweet girl he grins, leaning down to connect your lips.
Maybe someone like you deserves someone like him.

x. bringing the heat in miami - t.w.
pairing: female driver! x toto wolff
word count: 3.6k
warnings: cursing, mentions of sex, mentions of masturbation, lewd humor, age gap relationship, ANGST, naughty text messages, banter, light flirting, toto being down astronomically bad (like actually in the trenches) yadayadayada
prev. | next.
party in the city where the heat is on
all night, on the beach till the break of dawn
“welcome to miami”
“bienvenidos a miami"
˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧˖⁺‧₊˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖
will smith’s infamous track fills your ears as you stroll in through the main gate of the track, fans clustered in thick waves. your name is called more times than you can count. posters, caps, shirts, you name it, wave about, begging to be signed.
the sun shines overhead, casting bright, fiery light all around. although it was only around eight in the morning, humidity clung to the air, creating a sticky, dewy sensation on your exposed skin. fluffy clouds drift along, carried by a breeze as it rolls through.
god, the weather was perfect.
hopefully it would be like this on race day.
“welcome to miamiiii,” alex bobs his head, singing along to the music, “are you excited? it is your home turf, after all.”
“if we were in phoenix, i think i would feel a little closer to home,” you suppress a giggle, “but yes, i am really fucking excited. everyone loves a race in their home country.”
“we’ll be in austin soon enough in october,,” alex shrugs, “when we’re in austin, i need you to show me how to ride a bull and teach me how to perfect that smooth texas drawl. i want to be like one of those little aunties who always say, ‘y’all come back now!’ like dolly parton! ”
“you’re ridiculous,” the giggles blossom into a full-on laugh, “you don’t just start speaking with a southern accent. that’s not how that works.”
“sure it is,” alex nods, “hey, your parents are coming out for the race, right?”
“yes sir! they will finally get to see their baby girl in action!”
“they didn’t come out for a single grand prix last year?” alex raises a brow.
“i wasn’t winning races last year,” you counter, “i told them not to worry about spending that money during my rookie year. not everyone’s parents are loaded, you know.”
which, was a true statement.
your parents had invested their time, hard-earned cash, weekends off, and a portion of their lives to get you here. you didn’t expect them to fly out for every single grand prix, make every event, or pay another dime towards your expenses.
unlike many of the drivers, you were not born into an extremely lavish lifestyle. your parents were modest people, who happened to have a child later in life. ever since you were born, they lived in the same house, drove the same vehicles, and got by adequately. since they both worked full-time, getting you into the racing world was no simple feat.
yet, they were determined to make your dreams become a reality. after years of careful coordination to the karting tracks, weekends devoted to races, and thousands upon thousands of dollars spent, you were offered a contract with williams racing. of course, you accepted that offer graciously.
now, you were steadily paying your parents back for their dedication. once you signed your contract and those zeroes hit your bank account, you went out to the nearest dealership, purchasing a suburu wrx. with the premium package, at that.
you would never forget your dad’s face the moment you pulled into the driveway, beaming as you placed the keys in his hand.
that was one of the only moments you had ever watched him cry, wrapping you up in a tight, loving embrace.
“you didn’t have to do this. being your father is a gift in itself.”
“but you deserve it. you’ve sacrificed so much so that i could be in this position.”
“and you deserve nothing but the best, baby girl. you are going to be one of the greatest drivers formula one has ever seen. you make us so proud. keep making us proud. keep defying those odds. keep making history, baby girl.”
keep making history, baby girl.
as you stroll into the paddock, greeting the engineers, pit crew, and other team members, you can’t shake that feeling brewing deep within.
it’s is a fiery desire, setting you ablaze with determination.
you were going to keep making history.
you were going to be the first american to win the miami grand prix.
you were going to be the first woman to win two consecutive grand prixes.
you were going to be the first woman to earn that title of world champion.
you were going to chase that high. by any means possible.
and nothing was going to stop you now.

“look at him,” lewis hamilton shakes his head, “he looks absolutely pitiful.”
“you think his little relationship is on the rocks?”
“quite the contrary mate,” lewis remarks, folding his arms across his chest, “i think it’s more like the poor man is depraved. obviously the euphoria has worn off. he’s come down from that high. the man is craving more. plain and simple. a hand can only do–”
“i don’t need the mental image of my team principal wanking off,” george russell scoffs, rubbing his temple, “fuck, that is disgusting, lewis.”
toto wolff stood a few meters away from the drivers, engaged in deep conversation with bono and members of the crew. now that lewis knew the truth, he couldn’t help but notice how much power that american girl held over the team principal. it was almost as if he were deep in a trance, under some sort of spell.
it was pitiful, really. just the sight of her was enough to send the team principal spiraling, intoxicated off her alluring aura. not like lewis could blame toto, though. there was no denying that the woman was extremely breathtaking.
with her stunning features, witty mouth, unapologetic personality, and angelic presence, she was practically miss america.
well, not practically.
she was miss america.
everyone adored her. lewis could barely go throughout his morning without hearing her name being mentioned. whether it was fans, journalists, social media, even members of the mercedes crew, she was the hot topic of formula one, taking the world by storm.
toto was a lucky man. an extremely lucky man.
if only she was into men her age.
“my apologies mate,” lewis nudges george with his elbow playfully, “did we have anything going on today? any obligations?”
george’s brow furrow, sunglasses perched on the bridge of his nose, “if we’re being honest, i can’t really remember. i think something to do with monster energy, maybe.”
“perfect,” lewis licks his lower lip, fishing his phone out of his pocket.
time to text that little assistant.
in all seriousness, he felt horrible for taking advantage of that young girl. she was only nineteen for fuck’s sakes, a fresh face to mercedes at the start of the 2024 season. that made her the perfect target to do his bidding.
well, it wasn’t really bidding.
more like investigative journalism.
at least, that’s what lewis told himself to feel a little less guilty for what he was about to do.
hey, do you by chance know toto’s schedule today?
seconds later, little text bubbles appear.
he was meeting with you guys this morning, then he has an interview with the press around two-thirty p.m. it’s nothing super serious, just a brief session entailing his thoughts for the weekend. at four, he has a zoom call with a few of the mercedes execs. after that, he told me he was going to be out for the remainder of the evening. why?
hmmm. how convenient.
i was just curious. thanks for letting me know! i appreciate you, natila.
of course, mr. hamilton! let me know if you need anything else! :)))
it was now or never. go time.
after the meeting with the mercedes executives, lewis hamilton was going to knock on toto wolff’s door. he was going to stroll into that office, settling into one of those plush leather chairs. and before toto had the opportunity to speak, lewis was going to confront him about that american girl.
how he was going to start that conversation, he had no idea. that would come to him in time as he went about his day, meeting with sponsors, flashing that lovely lewis smile, flirting with the reporters just a little. not too much so that it was obvious, but enough to make them blush a tad, giggling as they scrambled to stick to their script.
but for now, it was time to focus on the matters at hand.
across the track, a dutch driver strolls through the crowds, a jersey in one hand, phone in the other. glancing down at his screen, he curses under his breath at the throng of people. why were there so many people? where did they all come from?
pausing for a moment, he taps his screen, thumb gliding through his contacts.
“hey, where are you again?”
“we’re in the williams paddock!” her voice is an octave higher than usual, more than likely from anticipation, “we’ll see you soon!”
“sounds good,” max verstappen stifles a chuckle as he hears a voice on the other end, the words firm, demanding almost.
“honey, who are you talking to? who’s coming over here?”
“mom, please, just let me be on the phone for two seconds,” she exhales, “okay, i have to go. i’ll see you soon!”
the walk to the williams paddock was excruciating, as max had to bob and weave through the masses to avoid reporters, potential sponsors, and any individual who called his name. it’s not like he didn’t like the fame that came with his success, it’s just that he didn’t like the constant cameras in his face. the prying questions. the intrusive comments.
sometimes he wished he could just blend in, be like any other face in the crowd. yet, how could he when he was max verstappen?
yet, as he steps into the paddock, he makes out the williams driver, her parents hovering around her as she introduces them to various members of the crew. at the sight, max can’t help but feel the corners of his lips curl into a smile as he notices the sheer and utter pride plastered across their faces.
and they had every right to be proud of you.
you earned it.
“goedemorgen,” max clears his throat, raising his hand for a small wave, “i just came to stop by.”
the instant your mom realizes who is standing before her in the paddock, her eyes widen, lips parting, “oh my gosh – honey. look who it is!”
“good morning max,” your laughter rings like bells as you cross over to the dutch driver, “how are you?”
“pretty good,” he nods, sticking out his right hand, “hallo, i’m max.”
your dad shakes his hand, squeezing it firmly, “nice to meet ya, max. i’m tony. this is my wife, heather.”
“pleased to meet you,” max beams, turning to your mom, “i brought something for you today. your daughter mentioned that you were a big fan of mine. so, i brought this jersey for you. she let me know your shirt size, so it should fit perfectly. my signature is on there somewhere, but i just can’t quite remember where.”
graciously, heather accepts the jersey, her eyes glossy, shifting to you as she wipes a tear, “oh, honey, you planned this?”
“of course i did,” wrapping an arm around her shoulders, you pull her in for a hug, “i couldn’t bear the thought of you guys attending the race without meeting any of my friends. besides, you deserve an all-inclusive experience at your first grand prix.”
“besides,” max shoots you a wink, “i wanted to meet the woman who crafted such a talented driver.”
at max’s compliment, your mom’s face flushes, “oh please! i can barely make it on the freeway without having a nervous breakdown. i don’t know how she can drive these things. it amazes me how confident she is and–.”
“i could show you,” max offers, “i have some free time tomorrow. i’m sure we could all meet up somewhere and i could take you for a spin, show you the ropes. how does that sound?”
“oh max,” your mom waves a hand, “you do not–”
“but i want to. it’s no issue. no issue at all.”
“then it’s a plan,” you can’t help but grin as your moms’ eyes light up, “what time works for you, max? since it’s only thursday, we’ll have some time in the morning before the practice laps. or, we could go after. whatever works for you.”
“let’s go in the morning,” max suggests, checking his phone, “i think i can make a few calls. have someone bring in a car. we’ll take it out on the track.”
“is that allowed?” your mom arches a brow, “i just don’t want you two to get in any sort of trouble.
“oh mom,” you roll your eyes playfully, gesturing to max, “that is max verstappen. whatever max verstappen wants, max verstappen gets.”
“she’s not wrong.”
“okay fine,” your mom nods, and you feel a giggle forming at her overprotective nature.
“just don’t give me a heart attack out there, max. i have a very important race to watch on sunday.”
as your parents talk to max, alex making his way into the conversation, you feel the buzz of your phone in your pocket. carefully, you fish it out, ensuring to shield your screen from your mom’s wandering gaze.
this is unbearable. i need to see you tonight. are you going to have any free time? i vaguely recall you mentioning that your parents were going to be here. i will take no offense if you would like to spend time with them. i know you do not get to see them often.
i need to be inside you, schatzi. i can’t think straight right now because the only thing i can think about is fucking that perfect pussy of yours.
i miss my golden girl. more than anything.

“lewis? this is a pleasant surprise.”
“how’s it going mate?” lewis hamilton bears a quaint smile as he settles into a chair, face-to-face with the team principal, “things going well?”
“eh,” toto shrugs, his head bowed as he types away on his phone, “same old shit, you know.”
“things going well with the horseback rider?”
oh, so he wasn’t going to drop it. silently, toto curses the attentive nature of his british driver, “they’re fine.”
“so,” lewis leans back, folding his arms across his chest, “when were you going to fess up and admit that your little girlfriend doesn’t ride horses?”
“i don’t understand what you–”
lewis scoffs, clicking his tongue, “i know exactly who your little girlfriend is because she’s a few spaces ahead of me on the grid.”
shit.
the expression painting lewis’ features is brimmed with satisfaction, his gaze piercing right through the team principal as he shifts uneasily in his desk chair, running a hand through his hair.
toto was well aware that lewis had completely blindsided him, pinning him in a corner. it was quite literally perfect timing, as the team principal was merely minutes away from organizing his things, shutting down his computer, and heading out the door, well on his way to his golden girl.
well played, lewis. well played.
yet, he had to maintain his composure. he had to maintain that poker face as lewis cocks his head, prompting him to formulate some sort of witty retort.
“i’m not sure what you’re talking about.”
“bullshit,” lewis shakes his head, “you’re not a very good liar, toto. you of all people should know that i can read you like a bloody book. how long has this been going on?”
well, he had to fess up now. lewis would continue to call him out on his shit if he kept up with the lies. letting out a shaky breath, the team principal hangs his head in defeat, his heart thumping against his rib-cage, wiping his damp palms on his slacks.
no going back now. time to come clean.
“since she won in jeddah. but if we’re being technical, it started in bahrain.”
“wait,” lewis sticks his hands up, squeezing his eyes shut, “pause. this has been going on since the start of the season? for weeks you’ve been sneaking around, meeting up with her in secret or something? was she the one who came to brackley between melbourne and suzuka?”
with all of the questions pouring from lewis’ mouth, toto’s mind reeled, a swirling torrent of anxiety, fear, and disappointment. his cheeks burn with shame, tinged pink.
“yes, she was.”
tilting his head, lewis’ lips purse, “you like her?”
“well isn’t that blatantly fucking obvious,” propping his elbows on the desk, he massages his temples with his fingers, “how did you find out?”
“it wasn’t hard,” lewis shrugs, “i mean, i see the way you look at her.”
toto’s eyes narrow at lewis’ vague response, “how. did. you. find. out?”
“natila texted me about it,” lewis coughs, averting the team principal’s beady stare, “she may have heard a conversation or two.”
“regarding?” toto presses, satisfaction pumping in his veins as lewis starts to crack, shifting in the chair, “come on, lewis. you can’t just march in here and demand answers from me without sharing your sources. what did natila hear?”
“she heard the entire conversation you had with the drive to survive crew while we were in suzuka. they mentioned that they had footage of you walking over to her motorhome. that’s all natila heard. don’t fire the poor girl,” the words were rushed, breathy, “it was my fault. i asked her what she heard. i told her i would pay her if she told me what she knew.”
“well,” toto blinks, swallowing thickly, “did you end up paying her?”
“only like five thousand.”
“that’s quite a large sum over something you could have just asked me about personally,” clasping his hands together, toto raises a brow, “why didn’t you just come to me instead?”
“because you got so fucking defensive the first time i asked about it!”
lewis did have a point.
a good point, at that.
it was not like the team principal would have withheld information regarding his developing relationship with the williams driver. it was more like he feared what would ensue if he did share what had transpired. he trusted lewis, he really did. additionally, it wasn’t like this was just some average woman. his career, her future, and so much more were at stake. the benefits of keeping it all under wraps greatly outweighed the risk of discovery.
more importantly, he was protective of his golden girl.
she was his little escape from it all. a breath of fresh air after excruciatingly long nights in the paddock or disappointing days on the track. she was his sun, shining her vivid, warm, golden rays into his dreary and dull life.
sure, toto was a billionaire. but money was not everything.
nearly every day, toto’s mind wandered to their time spent together in brackley. the way she felt against his skin. the way her shy smile was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. the way her fingers felt intertwined with his. the way her lashes fluttered as she slept, lips parted ever so slightly. the way his hands roamed her curves, relishing the softness of her.
that memory alone was worth far more than the number of zeroes in his bank account.
“you’re falling in love, aren’t you?”
lewis’ voice is low, dangerously quiet. yet, there’s a curious glint in his eyes, the bitterness and anger no longer present. his body language is more relaxed, legs crossed, the driver fiddling with his thumbs.
“i –” toto stutters, scrambling to find the right words, “yes, i am.”
“does she know?”
“no,” he inhales sharply, “she doesn’t.”
“you want to tell her though, don’t you?”
“it would just feel rushed,” the team principal dismisses lewis’ inquiry, his voice hardening, “i have to be realistic here. no one falls in love that quickly. that’s just petulant.”
“well look at it this way,” lewis offers, “if you’ve had your eye on her for some time, then it’s really not that rushed. clearly, if you’re feeling those emotions so deeply, then it’s accumulated over time. i don’t want to pry, but how long have you been attracted to her?”
“you don’t want to know,” a chuckle rumbles in the team principal’s chest, “it’s embarrassing, really.”
“no, no, no,” lewis tuts, “tell me, toto. how long?”
“december 2022, when she signed her contract with williams. when i saw that photo of her, i knew i had to have her. last summer, in monaco, i may have slipped up and approached her at the afterparty. i flirted with her, but she dismissed me. so, i kept my distance. however, it was just growing harder and harder to stay away. it was impulsive, that night in bahrain. but i wanted to make a move before anyone else got to her.”
as toto finishes, he can’t help but notice lewis’ smirk, “holy shit, toto. you’ve been wrapped around her finger for quite some time then, yeah?”
“i wouldn’t say that–” toto begins, clicking his tongue, yet, he’s swiftly cut off as a new figure cracks open the door.
george russell leans against the doorframe, arms folded across his chest. his lips are pressed together, forming a tightly wound frown.
“way to include me in the gossip session, guys. what did i miss? clearly, quite a lot. if you don’t mind, i would like to join the conversation. toto, would you start from the top? even though i’ve already heard most of it, when were you going to bring it to my attention that you were fucking that bloody williams driver?”

Current WIP(s)
The Blood That Bonds Us: A fantasy novel that can be succinctly summed up as Rapunzel with Red Riding Hood elements; where Rapunzel is also the Wolf, and the Prince is also Red Riding Hood.
Summary:
There is a prophecy in the kingdom of Venatoria that a Black Wolf will rise from the forest and bring destruction and a new reign to the kingdom. Because of this, generations of royals have hunted down and killed most of the Wolves that reside in the surrounding forest.
Prince Rhydian's father was no different, and he died in a hunt when Rhydian was only a child. But now Rhydian is no longer a child, and he's old enough to prove his worthiness to the crown and possibly take the kingdom back from the greedy crown regent, Alaric. Alaric, however, sets a heavy task for the prince: he must go and rescue a maiden that has been locked in a tower by a witch near a neighboring village. Many young men have tried and failed to rescue her, and the witch is ruthless. But Rhydian will do anything if it means he can reclaim his father's crown and throne.
Daciana has spent all her life in a tall tower. She is protected and held captive by the witch Dame Gothel, who found her in the forest and recognized her for what she is: the Black Wolf. Dame Gothel doesn't hold back on telling her this, and Daciana knows of her fate. She is a monster, a bringer of destruction, and one of the most hated enemies of Venatoria, who are blissfully unaware of her existence. Daciana doesn't feel like a monster, and perhaps life outside the tower isn't that bad, despite what she's been told. But although Dame Gothel has done all she can to keep Daciana within the tower, it's often ill-advised to try and fight destiny. And it will only be so long before the beast is freed from her prison.

Angel By the Wing - Thirteen
my thesis advisor watching me write for hours and none of it is my thesis
Chapter Warnings: canon death
Series Masterlist
“Sofia!”
The sound of your sneakers striking the linoleum tile seemed to echo through the halls, but you couldn’t be bothered to care. You had been doing some cleaning around your apartment when Sofia called you sobbing, saying something about Natasha and Bob in the hospital. You promised her that you would be there as soon as possible and raced out the door.
Jake met you at the gate and climbed into the passenger seat of your car, using his military ID to let you get past the gates once they scanned your vehicle. His face was drawn, brows pinched and lips pursed in thought.
Your hand settled in his and he squeezed once, assuring you that he was fine.
“Sof,” you called once you spotted the brunette. She stood from the chair she was hunched over in and opened her arms just in time for you to collide with her. Rooster stood from where he sat next to her and watched as the two of you embraced.
“She’s okay. They both are. Winded and sore, but she’s okay,” Sofia whispered. Tears poured down her cheek and you raised your hand to cradle the back of her head. “Oh god, she’s got these bruises on her chest that makes me want to throw up.”
“She’s okay,” you repeated. “Nat would look the Grim Reaper in the eye and tell that motherfucker that she has to get home to her wife.”
Sofia let out a wet laugh as she pulled away. You used the sleeves of your shirt to wipe her tears away and then tugged her to sit back down. Bradley motioned for you to take his seat and he went to join the other aviators crowding the waiting room.
“I’m sorry for calling you,” she hiccuped through another sob. “I just needed…I needed someone who knew what it feels like. “Hey, no apologizing,” you chastised. You knew what she meant, though. Someone who wasn’t in the military, who wasn’t up in the air. Someone whose feet were firmly planted on the ground, one ear tuned for the phone in case they got bad news.
“And they’ve got this stupid fucking mission they’re being sent out on which is basically a suicide mission,” Sofia continued. “She nearly died in training and she’s the best so how the fuck is she going to live through the real thing?”
The assurances died in your throat as her words sunk in. This is why the aviators were here, you realized. You instinctively looked over to the group of pilots and found Rooster watching you carefully. How long had he known? Hangman?
Focus. Sofia needed you.
“They’re setting up a cot in her room for me because they’re keeping me for the night,” she said. You nodded along and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling your friend into a hug.
“What can I do for you? Have you eaten recently?”
Sofia considered the question for a moment before sighing. “I haven’t eaten since this morning and now that you mention it, I could eat.”
Pulling away from her, you stood and winked. “I’ll run by the cafeteria and see if I can get you something edible.”
Like moths to a flame, Hangman and Rooster stepped away from the group and followed you as you made your way down the hall. You pointedly ignored the two men as you followed the directions a nurse gave you to the cafeteria.
“Sweetheart,” Bradley called as he jogged to catch up with you. “It was a bird strike, but Sofia said it herself, they’re both fine. It happens. Phoenix trains for this stuff for a reason.”
“It’s not that, Bradley Bradshaw,” you spat as you whirled around to face him. Your finger jabbed into his chest and you glared up at him. Jake joined him, concern painted on his features as he took in your anger.
“When were either of you going to tell me that you’re training for a suicide mission? Huh? Did you really think I wouldn’t care?”
Bradley’s face fell and raised his hands like you were some scared animal and he was calming you down. You shoved his hands away from you and kept walking down the hall. You couldn’t deal with this right now. You needed to get Sofia something to eat and you needed to call Penny and let her know that you might be a bit late and-
Your phone rang and, as if summoned, you spied your boss’s name on your screen. You pressed the answer button and raised your phone to your ear, ignoring the two men speaking to one another behind you.
“Hey Pen, I was just about to call you. I might be a bit late tonight, but I’ll only be an hour max.”
“Honey. Sarah just called me.” That tone. That damn tone. You froze, your heart sinking at the sound of her strained voice. Chairs lined the hallway and you shuffled over to one before sinking down onto the thin cushion.
“But I just saw him.” Your voice came out as a whimper, or maybe more of a whine. The white walls of the hospital blurred in on you, shrinking and compacting and collapsing until you were trapped.
“I’m so sorry,” Penny said. Admiral Kazansky had been her friend too. You pressed the palm of your hand against your eyes in hopes that it would stop the burning tears that threatened to push to the surface.
“I’m sorry too, Pen.”
“I’m not going to open tonight. Sarah’s going to need help planning the funeral. Will you be okay?”
“Yeah.” You looked up into the blinding lights above you. “Yeah, I’ll be fine. Hug Sarah for me, okay? And text if you need anything. I’m here with Sofia, but I’m sure she’ll understand.”
“Okay. Take care, hon.”
You let your phone fall into your lap and stared at the chipping screen protector. What came next? Everyone always talks about the lead up to death and they discuss the grief that comes after, but what about the in between? What do you do when the body is half-warm and not laid to rest?
A warm hand settled on your knee and you looked up to find blue eyes studying your face. Bradley stood behind Jake, his large form shielding the both of you from any onlookers.
“What’s goin’ on, darlin’?”
You considered speaking the words that scratched and clawed at your teeth and tongue, desperate to escape the cage you had forced them into. Looking into Jake’s eyes, you were violently reminded of your anger that existed before the call.
Here you were, seated in a hospital because your friend needed you after her wife had to eject from a plane and landed in the hospital, sitting before two men who consumed you yet would be setting out for a suicide mission in god knows how many days, and the only father figure you had in your life was now gone.
“Nothing,” you finally said. “Nothing’s wrong. I just needed a moment.”
You pulled away from Jake, physically and mentally. You locked it all down, packed your heart into a box, and stored it on the shelves of the iron-clad rationality of your mind. People needed you. They didn’t have time for you to be emotional.
Keep going, your mom would order. I don’t have time for tears.
Keep going, you scolded yourself. Others need you to be calm.
And then at the funeral, after you laid a small red checker piece on the surface of the coffin and watched as dirt sprinkled across the smooth mahogany, Sarah embraced you tightly and told you the words you had been waiting to hear your whole life.
“He loved you like a daughter and you gave him such peace. Thank you, sweetheart, for being in our lives. You’re stuck with us now.” A small, pain-filled smile flickered across her face and you kissed her cheek, as a daughter does to a mother.
At what point, you asked yourself, does the grief swallow you whole?

Welcome
in which the one and only phoenix of the mist worlds finds a new home after definitely not running away from her old one on account of the Changes
~~~
She hadn’t fled, is the thing, but she couldn’t stand the pitying looks from her friends and family, those that knew her before she changed.
Before she saved the world. Back when they didn’t think she’d lost anything.
So she’d left, but she’d told them and maybe she’d be back, but there were whole worlds out there where they didn’t know who she was and what she’d done.
She flew through the Mist, its cold burning off against her wings. Chose a gate at random, dived through above the line of travellers waiting in line.
Suckers.
The world beyond the Mist was a sprawl of a city that petered out into fields as far as the eye could see. It was different from her home, and that was a delight.
At the edge of the city was a tent, all white and red stripes, and vehicles parked around it. A circus?
She dived, curiosity getting the better of her.
There was a buzz of noise about it. Animals and people, all shouting back and forth, running between the tent and the caravans, setting up yet more tents and enclosures.
There were creatures – Beast, really, with a capital B – that she’d only ever read about in stories and folklore.
Like she was now, really.
She landed on a post by one of them that mostly looked like a horse with wings, a bird’s head, and talons on its feathered front legs rather than hooves.
It cocked its head to inspect her with one bright eye.
She folded her wings tight against her back and didn’t quite meet its gaze.
“Is that one of Fen’s constructs left lying around against?” said someone behind her. “I didn’t think she was working on anything like this.”
The creature clicked its beak, partially unfolding its wings.
She turned her head to see a woman standing there.
“Oh, you’re not – Fen!” The woman turned to yell for someone.
“I’m not a construct,” said the bird.
“What are you, then?” To her credit, the woman didn’t seem too startled by her talking.
“The phoenix. Where is–”
“What is it, Hunt? I’m fine-tuning some really delicate – oh you’re a beauty, aren’t you?” Another woman poked her head out of a nearby caravan, welder’s goggles over her eyes. “Oh, you’re a real spark of genius, aren’t you? I bet they’re kicking themselves for losing you.”
“It’s not–”
“No one made me,” said the phoenix. “Except maybe I made myself.”
This one jumped, pushing her goggles back into her hair. “Well fuck.”
“I’ve never heard of a phoenix sighting,” said the first.
“Only kid’s stories. Damn, and it was just out here?”
The phoenix spread her wings, readying to take off. Maybe this wasn’t a good spot for a break.
“No – wait, wait, sorry. Let’s start again.” The woman with the goggles held out her hands as if to stop the phoenix from leaving. “I’m Fen. This is Hunt. What can we call you?”
The phoenix hesitated. Her old name was – not known out here, but if people came looking…
It was also a name for the person she had been, not the being she’d become.
“Spark,” she said. “You can call me Spark.”
“Delighted to make your acquaintance.” Fen smiled. “What brings you to our circus?”
“Curiosity,” Spark replied, folding her wings back in. “I don’t remember the last time I went to the circus.”
“Well, you’re in luck, my friend, because the Everrin Circus is the finest that travels the Mist.” Fen spread her arms to encompass it, bowing.
Spark laughed.
“Would you like a tour?”
“Aren’t you fine-tuning something really delicate?” Hunt asked, sounding gently amused.
“That’s not needed until this evening.” Fen waved her off. “Now.” She held out her arm, which was wrapped to keep her sleeves tight against her wrist. “Or you can walk, but riding in style?”
Spark hopped from her perch to the ground and didn’t grumble as she barely came up to Fen’s waist. This new form was ridiculous.
Hunt stayed behind as Fen led Spark into the chaotic noise and bustle of the circus.
“We’ve only just pulled up here,” Fen said. “Normally it’s a little quieter of a morning, but this is also our first day here so it’s all the set up.”
Spark craned her head to see what she could. “It seems so chaotic.”
“It is. Organised chaos, but all the same. You’re lucky to have found us here, actually, this is our last stop before entering the Mist again.”
“You travel it a lot?”
“Sure do. Which world are you from? We might have been there before.”
“I don’t know its name.” Spark shook her head. “But it only recently joined the Mist.”
“Oh, wild.” Fen was silent as she thought that over. “So – are there other Phoenixes there?”
“No, I’m the only one.”
“Oh.” Fen fell silent as she led Spark nearer to the side of the big tent, down an avenue between the fabric of it and the ropes holding it in place. “That must be lonely.”
Spark blinked. “I – I guess so.” It wasn’t that she hadn’t considered it, exactly, but it was definitely something she hadn’t been intentionally thinking about.
“Sorry,” Fen said. “Didn’t mean to send you–”
“Fen!”
“Asin! Fancy seeing you here!” Fen looked up, grinning and spreading her arms wide in welcome. “I’ve made a new friend.”
“And the drones for tonight? Are they – oh that is cute.” A woman – shorter and curvier than Fen, white and blonde and harried looking, a tablet in her hands – blinked down at Spark.
“I’ve never been called cute before,” Spark said, spreading out her train a little. “Not looking like this, anyway.”
“Fen?” The woman tensed, a crackle of electricity playing at her fingers. “What have you done?”
“I – nothing!” Fen laughed. “Asin, this is Spark. She’s a phoenix from Off-World. Spark, this is Asin, my cousin.”
“… Sorry,” Asin said. “You said phoenix?”
“Yup. She can stay with us for a while, right?”
Asin shrugged faintly. “Sure, why not. Welcome to Everrin Circus, Spark.”
“Thanks?”
“It’ll take her a minute,” Fen said in a stage whisper. “Now come on, there’s so much more to show you.” She ushered Spark past Asin. “And yes, Asin, I’ll get everything finished before opening.”
Spark followed her, bobbing her head to Asin. She hadn’t meant this to be ore than a brief visit, but… well, if they were going to be so welcoming…
She might as well stay for longer.
#writing pieces#mist worlds#spark#asin#genevieve hunt#everrin circus#Fen#fen is also here. I am not sold if that is her whole name or just part or a nickname or what. but we're rolling with it just now#what another character of mine changing their name because the old one doesn't fit#what a surprise who could have seen that coming#lmao
CHAPTER 21: Dearly Departed (normal P.O.V)
Run ..... that was what permeated throughout my mind. I didn't know where to but something deep inside told me I'd be safe. The day washed over me as I tread through the forest.
Escaping the base was easy from speeding the camera's frame rate to jumping through the closing vehicle bay door. I knew the place was designed to escape. Spencer's choice was just in case the Simmons family decided to poke their heads into Umbrella's private affairs.
I was running as fast as I could. My sprint caused the wind to roar in my ears. Fear rippling throughout my actions. What ifs playing on a constant loop?
What if Albert just wanted me dead for betraying him or what if he wanted to inject me with an incomplete Uroboros and use me as an experiment? I doubt he'd just let me off with a slap on the wrist and a kiss on the cheek.
I slowly came to a stop having reached my destination. Alistar's memorial was in shambles. Nature took back what was hers. I could have the maintenance crew come out and repair the statues; however, that would reveal my secret place to my workers. Ugh, I could easily come out here and trim the vines and rampant weeds but that wouldn't fix the statuary.
I had to use my powers to repair the statue of my daughter's angel. I was sure that my mutations were still unstable after the combat with Albert earlier. The pressure to fix the statuary was massive I could hear Surgei's voice mocking me. Telling me if I had just chosen him how my baby girl would still be alive.
I gripped my head and shouted in agony. Sergei's voice stayed either mocking or laughing maniacally. As the voices steadily got louder and louder. The sounds started to merge into this horrible ringing. I dropped to the ground and curled up with my hands gripping my head tighter.
My daughter... why did I fail so badly in keeping her safe? She didn't deserve to die at the hands of surgei. She didn't deserve to have the family that raised her taken by Umbrella. She doesn't deserve to have her final resting place be that hell hole where we were treated like mice.
I closed my eyes and sobbed. After about thirty minutes of the deafening ringing, I felt something warm wrap around me and pull me into an embrace.
"Quiet now, my dear little lotus," Albert said, "Is this the memorial you built for her, my dear?"
Upon hearing him call me his lotus I knew I wasn't in any danger; however, I didn't stop crying. My eyes wouldn't stop letting the salty tears spill from them. When I tried to speak my voice shook and cracked, "yes".
"It is time you let go my dearheart. Her death is on Sergei and although I never actually met her she was still my daughter. I will help you properly mourn." He spoke pulling me closer to his chest and taking off his sunglasses," you have her original files, I am guessing? Not the ones you presented to me."
I pulled out my PDA and logged into the database stored in White Queen. I sighed as I pulled up her original files and handed the pad to him. I tried to pull away but he held me tight.
On the screen was a young woman just over twenty-one. She had gorgeous long warm blonde hair that matched her father's and a womanly body similar to her mother's. Her eyes were a stormy grey from the imperfect bonding with the Angelis virus.
I heard Wesk choke back a single sob, "her personality was a lot like your's Albert, cold and stoic; however, once she cared about someone she'd guard or help them any way she could."
Albert stared at the pda reading her back story and how she was highly resistant to all of the progenitor-based viruses. How Sergei killed her for bringing me a new umf system that was locked from the red queen and all Umbrella officials.
"These files, she got them to you. Did she not? The system that runs the Phoenix Corps is the U.M.F. 014?" Albert asked adjusting his sunglasses and now looking down.
"Yes, the white queen ai as well. Alistar was a wiz with technology and was a hell of a shot." I was choking back my sobs again, "Chris helped me bury her."
(FLASHBACK)[ ⚠️ trigger warning ⚠️ blood]
"H..Y.......HEY......... WAKE UP!!!" I heard through the cold darkness.
"Ughhhh." I let out a long drawn-out moan.
"AGENT REDFIELD AGENT VALENTINE!!! WE HAVE AN ALIVE ONE!!!" A loud male voice said lifting my torso.
"Who are you? And why did you say my maiden name?" I asked blood dripping down my mouth and eyes closed.
"My name is Clive O'Brian I'm with an anti-bio weapon organization. What's your full name miss?"
"It is t..t..tab"
"TABITHA!!!" Jill shouted and I heard a gunpoint and click.
"Jill..... and I guess that means Chris is here too then?" I asked tears falling down my cheeks.
Three people who I all care about today two want to kill me and the one I loved the most practically did.
"Open your eyes, T...!!! I want to see your eyes!!!" Chris demanded.
"As you wish little brother and I'm sorry about this Mr. O'Brian, I know you do not deserve this" I jumped out of his arms and grabbed Clive's knife.
"Don't move Tabitha!" Jill shouted turning off her guns safely.
I slowly opened my eyes revealing the deep blue and sliver viper eyes that they are, blood trickling down from the semi-fresh bullet wounds in my chest.
"Jill doesn't! look she has already been shot! Who did this? If you tell me Tabitha and I'll get you medical assistance." Mr. O'Brian said standing up unharmed.
I gritted my teeth and fell to my knees. My mouth moved to utter his name. Chris walked up close in annoyance. He was fuming.
"Clive asked nicely so speak up!" Chris shouted pointing his gun at me now.
In fear, I screamed, "ALBERT DID!!! i, I was in a mutated state from the virus I'm infected with. He didn't even believe me when I told him who I was. All he said was 'my wife died in Raccoon city! All he saw was a B.O.W. who needed to be put down. Nothing but a monster. that's all I am after all. I couldn't even save my daughter from Umbrella. Now all I have is gone they beat me."
Chris lowered his gun and yelled right at me, "what daughter? Who beat you? Why are your eyes like Wesker's? Is it due to a virus? Why didn't you contact me if you were in trouble?!"
I stared at Chris. His concern surprised me. I was suddenly fuming, "HOW COULD I CONTACT YOU IF I HAVE BEEN UMBRELLAS EXPERIMENT FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS! MORE IMPORTANTLY WHY WOULD I IF THE LAST THING YOU TOLD ME, YOUR BIG SISTER WAS THAT I WAS A MONSTER AND YOU NEVER WANTED TO SEE ME AGAIN!".
I strained my voice and started coughing blood flying over the floor in front of me. I started to fall backward but Chris raced forward and pulled me into his chest, "I just had to make sure it was you, T. I saw the news conference regarding who brought forth the vaccine and anti-virus and the UN had pardoned her. That person was you albeit they thought you we dead but since you were not things will be ok."
Crying I spilled everything of the past forty-eight hours, from Alistar my student, and my daughter being killed by Vladimir to wesker shooting me in the chest five times and the fact I knew I would be fine due to the Angelis virus healing me. that the wound was still rather fresh.
They left for awhile while I dash to my containment cell and quickly gathered my hard drive and data sticks for my plan against Spencer. Running outside I noticed Albert leaving the base.
"I'm going to find you, Wesk. Now that I know you're still alive." I said pulling out Alistar's frozen corpse from the pile of snow by the door holding her bridal style.
"We'll find him, T," Chris said, "she looks so much like her father. I'm sorry I never got the chance to meet you Alistar."
"Come on let's get her buried," I said holding back tears.
(End of flashback end of trigger warning)
"We buried her where you jumped out of the base. She will always be stuck to Umbrella, the least I can do is give our dearly departed daughter her Guardian angels." I said.
"I will have Arjuna replace the statuary in the morning. We have much to talk about with each other, but I think we should go to bed first." Albert said picking me up bridal style," and do not fret dear little lotus I will be by your side the entire time.
The Wedding Party | LR Jones | Published 2024
For a bride-to-be and her fiance, secrets and lies make this a killer celebration in this psychological suspense. Carrie and Oliver. A couple completely in love and the hosts of a wedding to remember at Colorado's legendary Stanley Hotel. This is Carrie's fairy tale come true. Her fiance, Oliver, is Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome; successful; and utterly devoted to her. Now family and friends have gathered to celebrate. It's sure to be a wild night as the drinks flow freely and the fun begins. But the morning after is murder. FBI agent Andi Castle was just supposed to be a plus-one. This should have been a calming weekend getaway from what she does catch killers. Instead, Andi is on the hunt again. THe hotel is on lockdown. Secrets are being unearthed. And no one is above Andi's suspicions. But which secrets are worth killing for? Andi's forced to find the answers fast...before someone else dies.
Agent Andrea "Andi" Castle has wrapped up an investigation into a serial killer known as the Spider Man, and is in search of rest and relaxation on her forced leave from the FBI. As she reconnects with a friend from college named Lana, she is invited to the combined bachelor/bachelorette parties for a soon to be married couple, Oliver Phoenix and Carrie Reynolds.
The party is to be held at the famed Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado. Despite not wanting to join, Andi decides to say "fuck it" and goes along for the ride, despite only knowing Lana at the gathering. But what should have been an exciting time for the couple, and a relaxing time for Andi is anything but. The morning after the main party, Carrie has gone missing and Oliver has been discovered in their hotel room, stabbed more than fifty times and very dead.
Carrie is located inside of the attic of the hotel, naked and covered in blood. And for Carrie, she can't remember the how, what, when and why she has ended up in the attic, or how Oliver has died and who could be the prepetrator. Andi immediately gets to work while Carrie is taken to the hospital, kept in their custody until she can be proven innocent. Carrie's trauma has led her to completely forget the entire night except for only snippets and pieces that she isn't able to put together into any sort of timeline.
Andi works diligently to ensure that Carrie is taken care of medically, but begins working on her as the only suspect in the murder case, though as a seasoned agent and the only daughter of law enforcement extradoinaire, Eddie Castle. She investigates everyone, including Oliver's sister, Natalie, who is now gaining the coveted CEO position of their family company. She also looks into each member of the wedding party and the guests of the party, with the exception of Lana.
Lana divulges a fact that nobody has seemed to share: that a few days prior to the party, Oliver received a white box tied with red ribbon, the contents of which were never shared with Carrie. Carrie immediately thought that Oliver was having an affair, though he had told her that it was a horrible gag gift from one of the groomsman, and that it wasn't for her eyes to see, that it would only make her hate that person, though Oliver never told Carrie which groomsman sent it.
Andi works hard to find out where this box is located, and she finally finds it once a locker key is discovered during the search warrants were issued. Brody, one of Oliver's friends who was in attendance at the party, discloses that the key belongs to a locker inside of the member's-only cigar club that the group of friends were a part of. Inside, Andi finds the lost box and the contents hidden inside: Carrie's adoption papers.
When Carrie was only 2 years old, the Reynolds family adopted her. They had one biological child, a son named Eric, who at the age of 14 was hit and killed in a single vehicle car accident while riding his bike with Carrie after having ice cream. Several witnesses came forward to state that it looked as if Carrie had pushed him in the path of the car, while others stated it looked like siblings simply rough housing with each other. But, the adoption papers show something incredibly terrifying.
Carrie's father is a horrible serial killer and rapist named Norman Morrow, who is currently incarcerated for his crimes two hours away from Denver in a maximum security prison. Andi shows Carrie the contents, and on the outside, it appears as if Carrie never knew about the identity of his birth parents. With the help of the doctors at a specialized rehab facility where she is currently staying, Carrie works hard to reclaim the memories that she lost in order to find the true killer.
Andi is able to figure out that Carrie had been present in Nashville for a medical convention, where she had supposedly met Lana's ex-husband. Andi isn't sure why she never truly looked into Lana, but the two of them meet for drinks, and Andi attempts to get her to confess to anything. But, after stating she's been called into work, Lana heads off to the rehab facility and confronts Carrie, though Andi isn't fast enough to get there at the same time.
After speaking with Carrie, Carrie confesses that she had slept with Lana's ex-husband during that convention, that he had told her that he hated Lana and only wanted to be with her. Which is why Lana got the idea of the white box with red ribbon with the damning contents inside. Unfortunately for Lana, this news is too much to bear, and before Andi can make it to the McDonald's where she is currently sitting, Lana ends her life.
With the world thinking that Lana was the one who killed Oliver, Carrie is going to get set free. But Andi saw another side to Carrie during the discussion and vehemently denies having any relationship with Lana's ex-husband. But when Lana's body is released from the ME's office, her parents along with her former husband arrive in Colorado to take care of the funeral arrangements, and he confesses that he did sleep with Carrie over that convention weekend and they were seen, and Lana found out, and the divorce was something he deserved after being caught.
With a plan in place, Andi heads to Carrie's home that she shared with Oliver, hoping to gain a confession from her. This plan came to fruition after visiting Norman, who went from proclaiming his innocent to Andi to becoming the evil asshole that raped and killed at least 10 women, including that of Carrie's birth mother, who was a victim of Norman's who ultimately became pregnant and gave the baby up for adoption later after stating she couldn't raise the daughter of a serial killer.
Andi and Carrie confront each other, with Carrie continuing to proclaim her innocence. But just like her father, she ultimately confesses to the crime of murdering Oliver. This is recorded on cell phone video or audio by Andi, and she is arrested for the murder of Oliver Phoenix.
We have a new citizen in Mount Phoenix:
Cho "Jayden" Hyunseok, a 27 year old son of Akbul. He is the owner of Visión / Ilusión.
FC NAME/GROUP: Jung Hoseok | BTS CHARACTER NAME: Cho Hyunseok | Jayden Cho DATE OF BIRTH: 18 February 1997 PLACE OF BIRTH: Unknown OCCUPATION: Owner of Visión / Ilusión HEIGHT: 6FT | 183CM WEIGHT: 143LBS | 65KG DEFINING FEATURES: If you look closely enough, you can see dark mists wrap around his arm, like hovering shadows right over his skin, which he had developed later on in life
PERSONALITY: With a background in business, he’d always been a person with a strong work-ethic, too strong some of his employees think. He's not one to leave a project undone and always tries to see things through, unless it would bring about a huge loss. He's no angel, especially when you're on the other end of a business deal. He’s assertive and charismatic, but he can also be brutal and unforgiving. A big flaw on his end is his loyalty to his work that he would sometimes forget that his personal life should be separate from the job. It had never been easy for him, being brought up to be the sole heir of a tech company that had been built from the ground up by their family a few generations back.
HISTORY: (Trigger Warnings: Car accident, death, some gore, exploitation and experimentation on children, memory loss)
Surviving
The newborn was carried away from his mother, not a touch or even a look from her as she had given him up months leading up to his birth. Little did she know where the boy ended up, but she didn’t care. Not when the money she had been paid was more than enough to cover her for the rest of her life.
The infant was brought into a facility, just hours after he had been wailing in a nurse’s arms. Even the bright lights within his new room had barely done anything to get past the shadows wrapping the child as he continued to cry in his bassinet.
Conforming
As soon as he was able to walk, tests began to be done on him, starting from blood tests and even physical examinations, especially once he began to produce shadows that began to wrap around him whenever he became scared or upset.
Once he had grown up some more and gained some understanding and better physical stability, the endurance tests began. Not quite to the point where it can be considered stress tests; only to the point where he’d grow tired and request to stop.
They had been more lenient on him, at least while he was young.
When he’s not subjected to endurance tests, he’s with an educator, teaching him about the world outside and academic subjects. It took him some time before he had been able to grasp academics, but little by little, he began to absorb it easier like a sponge.
Differentiating
Stress tests began not long after they noticed the pattern he exhibited by finding a climactic point before he started to tell them he was done and needed to rest. They knew it wasn’t laziness on his end, but him developing a sense of self. That wasn’t the plan, no. He’s supposed to be following whatever they say.
It didn’t take him long to read in between the lines, and with no power to be able to escape just yet, he went along with their whims, letting them do what they needed to do just so he could rest.
It seems the gods were looking down upon him despite the unfortunate circumstance of his untimely escape.
He had only been ten years old when he was supposed to be transported to a different location. He had been sedated, but not long enough that he had been able to manipulate the shadows around to wrap the car, leaving no visibility to the outside while they had been on a service road, and the car ended up driving off a ditch where it then got turned over a few times.
Upon waking up, he had no memories of where he was or why he was in this vehicle in the first place or who the armed people were around him. Some looked as if their throat had been cut open, others seemed to have been impaled by some of the equipment in various places in their bodies, and some even looked to have been disemboweled completely.
He didn’t take it well for as soon as he was out, he was heaving up everything he had that day. It’s also then that he noticed the amount of blood on him that he shakenly tries to wipe off to no avail.
It took him a while to get back onto the road, and as soon as he reached it, he waved his hands frantically at the first incoming car as his vision began to tunnel and blur. He didn’t even get to see the people run out of the car to get to him as he passed out as they approached his position.
The next time he woke up was in a hospital where he found two unknown people, but he’s too weak to even try to run again. The doctors are called as soon as they notice that he’s awake, and it’s then that he believes he might be safe. At least he hopes so, especially as they begin to ask questions he doesn’t have an answer to.
He learns that the two people in the room had been the couple that found him in the road. They had taken him to the hospital after finding him in such a state, which he had been thankful for. However, he was still unable to remember anything before the crash. He could barely stomach talking about what he had woken up to, but apparently, they were told that they had found nothing around the area of where he had been found.
With no memory of his past, and no records of his existence, the couple decided that they will adopt him, and take him in as their own given that they had not been able to conceive on their own. They believe that perhaps he had been a gift from above, so they are taking their chance on him.
Cho Hyunseok.
That had been the name he had been given on his adoption, and the one he keeps despite slowly recovering his memories from before the crash as he grew up.
Growing up, he’d been showered with anything he needed and wanted. With the couple’s generosity, he followed in their whims and footsteps growing up. Being their only child, he had been named the heir of Cho Technologies, a rising tech company and supplier to big South Korean, Japanese, and American brands, but not after their agreement with him.
He had traveled and went to international schools in various countries to learn others’ cultures and languages throughout elementary, middle, high school, and even college. It’s one way his parents have been able to brag about him, especially whenever he returns to South Korea during his breaks in school.
While he had been traveling in Moscow as a child, he had met someone he had grown quite fond of, even when he had just been a teen at the time. For the moment that he had stayed there as an international student, he found himself spending much of his time with her.
However, with his goal to learn about other cultures, he had to say goodbye to his first love and move on to study in other countries much to his dismay.
Once he had graduated high school however, he had asked his parents if he could return to Moscow for school. They had no qualms letting him return, especially after excelling in his studies while he'd been in high school in four different countries, transferring every single year through different international schools throughout Asia. They thought that he deserved to have a choice where he'd want to go to college, especially when they had agreed that he should do his degree in a single university.
Of course, it hadn't been easy to seek her out, not when he had to get himself readjusted to the country and make sure that school was still his first priority. The school may not have been as competitive as the other schools he had gotten accepted to, but with a double major in engineering and business, it was enough to keep him busy for the first couple of years until he got the hang of it.
He had nearly given up by the time he had found her again. This time, they are both grown adults and it seems that she’d been quite successful even at a young age, and just like him, an heir to an empire of businesses. They had begun a romantic relationship with one another not long after seeing each other again, which he had kept hidden from his parents. It’s the one time he had chosen to keep things from his parents, in lieu of what they might do if they found out.
It hadn’t been easy, especially when he went home during his academic breaks. It was one time when he had told them he wanted to stay over break that they made a surprise visit to him during his Christmas break where they had found out about their relationship by accident, and he had not even known that they were even in the same city as him.
They never asked him about the relationship, but they had already decided he was to be married to someone else, and had even promised the father of said someone else that he will be marrying his daughter.
It was right before he returned for his last semester that they had told him about the proposed marriage, acting as if they had no idea about his current relationship status.
Hyunseok is now left with a difficult choice: to either follow his heart or be true to his words to the people that took him in when he had nothing.
Knowing that he owed them his life, he chose to nod and agree. Maybe he’ll learn to love his bride-to-be, but it will take some time as he will have to break both his and his girlfriend’s hearts upon his return to (place).
From then on, he began skipping out on dates, “forgetting” to respond to texts or return missed calls, telling her he’d been too busy with school. It gets to the point where he had told her he couldn’t spend time with her to study for an exam, only to post later on a picture of himself in what looks to be a crowded nightclub.
The break up wasn’t pretty.
He spiraled from then, only getting back up to make it through his last semester to graduate. It’s then that his flash of memories begin to become more vivid, and even things he didn’t realize to have done become clear to him.
Shadows mostly wrapped him up when he’s holed up in his studio condo, and a part of him was scared of it, but another part of him welcomed it as comfort. That’s mostly how he had gotten through the rest of that semester and towards graduation still somehow holding a magna cum laude ranking.
After that, he had mostly focused on working. His personal life had been bland one night stands or hookups, but never anything serious. Not while knowing that he was promised to marry someone else already.
Individuating
Years passed and he’d yet to get over his lost love, and right when he’s about to return to (place) to rebel once more against his parents, he learns that his wedding had been set. He had been twenty four years old when he was told, and he would be twenty five at the date of their wedding. His plans went and crumbled away as he accepted the picture of his bride-to-be from his parents.
Maybe she can help me move on, he thought as he ran his fingers over her face in the picture and he smiled at his parents, letting them know that he’s ready and excited to meet her. It’s then that he finds out that he’s not to meet her until their wedding day. He thought it to be odd, but only nodded as they explained the details to him.
The day of the wedding comes and he stands in a custom-fitted tuxedo, his family and some of his friends flown to come see him get married. He can feel the cool shadows wrapping around his arms and torso, itching to be freed as his nerves begin to rise.
It’s when he hears about the bride running away that the shadows begin to calm, relief washing over his entire being as they begin to recede. He poses as a jilted groom, which is what his parents would’ve wanted him to be, but he says nothing as he feels entirely the opposite, and lets his parents hash it out with their business partner.
He’s not entirely sure as to what had been agreed to, but later on, he was told that the engagement had been called off entirely for the girl in the picture had run off and couldn’t be found.
So, he returned to being a workaholic and back to his old habits, at least until he began to lose control of his abilities as more and more of his memories began returning to him.
A letter was slipped under the door of his studio apartment days after he had kept himself in with a seal he had never seen before. He reads through it, and even then, the shadows from his hands seem to want to devour the piece of paper in his hand but just couldn’t seem to be able to.
After reading the entirety of the letter about a place where people like him resided, he decided that perhaps it’s time for him to actually find out who he really is as a person, and maybe get some answers about him being a demigod. He decided to leave a few days after his twenty-seventh birthday with only a letter left for his parents to find in his old apartment.
PANTHEON: Mayan CHILD OF: Akbul POWERS:
Light Sensitivity - Being a child of the Mayan god of darkness, he’s quite sensitive to light and is weaker during the day
STRENGTHS: driven, charismatic, creative, emotionally intelligent, intuitive, idealistic WEAKNESSES: light, assertive, insensitively blunt at times, detached, hyper focused at times
How to Handle a Broken Vehicle Window While Awaiting RV Auto Glass Repair in Phoenix?
Discovering a broken vehicle window in your RV can be stressful, especially while you wait for RV auto glass repair in Phoenix. But don't worry; this blog will guide you through simple steps to keep you safe and minimize inconvenience while waiting for your auto glass to be fixed.
Safety First
Your safety is essential. If you have a broken window, be careful. Don't touch the broken glass, as it can be sharp. If the damage is severe, avoid driving your RV until it's repaired. If you need to drive, wear protective gear like gloves to minimize the risk of injury.
Cover the Window
To keep debris and weather out of your RV, cover the broken window. You can use plastic or duct tape to create a temporary seal. This will also make your RV more secure and protect your belongings inside.
Stay Out of the Sun
Phoenix can be scorching hot, so try to park your RV in the shade while waiting for the repair. This helps prevent your RV's interior from overheating, especially if the damaged window is in a sunny spot.
Secure Your Belongings
If the broken window is in an area with valuable belongings, consider moving them to a safer location inside the RV to prevent theft or further damage.
Schedule RV Auto Glass Repair
As soon as you discover the damage, contact an RV auto glass repair company in Phoenix. Discuss the issue and schedule a repair as soon as possible. The quicker you get it fixed, the less inconvenience you'll experience.
Explore Temporary Solutions
If it will be a while before your RV auto glass repair appointment, consider using temporary solutions like plastic wrap or a tarp to seal the broken window further. This will help keep the elements out.
Stay Informed
Keep in touch with the repair company to stay updated on your appointment time. They may have cancellations that allow you to get your RV fixed earlier than expected.
Plan Alternative Transportation
While you wait for your RV's auto glass to be repaired, consider alternative transportation methods if your RV isn't safe to drive. Renting a car or using rideshare services can help you stay mobile.
Dealing with a broken vehicle window while waiting for rv auto glass repair in Phoenix can be challenging, but it's essential to prioritize safety and take steps to secure your RV. By following these simple guidelines, you can minimize inconvenience and keep yourself and your RV safe until the repair is completed. Remember, the quicker you schedule your auto glass repair, the sooner you can get back on the road with a fully repaired and safe RV.
