People getting mad at these two designs for male and female protagonist in new VtM:B game as if these games' main design philosophy wasn't insane freedom of expression and gameplay. If you wanna make your female PC into a Bimbonator 3000 walking around in basically lingerie and sleeping her way to the top I assure you it will be not only possible, but encouraged by some routes (Malkavian, Toreador). EDIT: As it turns out, you can't play as Bimbonator 3000 and these are very tightly fixed characters, so this is basically a vampire themed GTA which is disappointing. I will still dunk on gamerdudes for getting mad the female character "looks like a man" as if being female magically gave you an hourglass figure and huge rack.

VTM Character Concepts I am Compelled to Share Because My Brain Won’t Stop
Hey all! I’m back in my VTM bullshit with more character concepts. Apologies if this is a bit more curt/shorter than usual; I’m cranking this out on my work break 😅. But anyway, here ya go! TW for Thalassophobia and implied animal death.
1. A Lasombra saturation diver. If you don’t know what that is, just know that it involves going to the very deepest and pitch dark parts of the ocean. Probably the closest to the abyss on earth. And for Cain’s sake PLEASE don’t look into the Byford Dolphin Accident (which will probably come up if you look up saturation diving) if you are squeamish!
2. A Banu Haquim erotic dancer who uses their unnatural grace to their advantage. The Toreador aren’t the only ones with celerity or sex appeal, and the club serves as a wonderful place to mete out justice to handsy assholes while gathering intel.
3. A Malkavian with synesthesia so intense it’s borderline overwhelming. Oddly enough, the colors, sights and sounds they receive actually tend to be useful as they hint at the true nature of things.
4. A guide of a ghost tour that is known for producing paranormal encounters. Of course, since the guide is a Hecata, ghostly happenings are par for the course.
5. A Gangrel pet groomer who’s had to skip multiple towns after feeding on Fido a LITTLE too enthusiastically.
Hope you enjoy!

My thoughts on VTMB2
Yeah, I think we're all thinking the same thing. This isn't the Bloodlines 2 we were originally promised and were looking forward to. This is something entirely different. While the previous version by Hardsuit Labs was never going to be a AAA or even a AA game to begin with, this one by The Chinese Room looks and feels like even more of a budget title. The footage and assets are several years dated now and the gameplay still looks like a WIP. That's not necessarily a bad thing given they only have so much to work with in a limited amount of time. But what makes me feel really "meh" about the title is instead of taking what the old team did (with Mitsoda's writing, Rik's soundtrack, etc) and finishing it up, The Chinese Room had instead chosen to rework it into their own thing, only recycling the old art assets and not much else. I can tell from the recent trailers, their blog posts, and their games portfolio that they're not going to make it faithful to the original Bloodlines. The tone of the game and their ideas don't match up with the gothic punk aesthetic that BL1 went for, instead going for an urban fantasy neo-noir vibe. It's not going to be a true Bloodlines game, rather it's going to be a Vampire the Masquerade V5 game in the style of The Chinese Room. I'm not mad about it. I just wish they'll be honest about it and choose to rename the game to be some other series instead. "VtM: Seattle" or whatever. Nonetheless, I'm disappointed that the studio cares more about juxtaposing their own image and style into this title rather than staying true to the original. Seems weird to say since every artist is entitled to their own expression, but this isn't what we waited years for.
I'm going to play it regardless because I still think there's worth to this game in the franchise. If it conveys the current World of Darkness and isn't not completely broken at launch, I will probably find things to like about it still.

Kind of historically accurate actually.
But if you want an original vampire tale, check out 'Harrowed World: What’s Past Is Portents', our FREE dark gothic visual novel.

New video and blog post on the narrative and RPG elements of Bloodlines 2. Some key takeaways:
- The game itself is set around Christmas time 2024 in Seattle. - The protagonist is an elder named Phyre. You can still change your clan/gender, but the character is set. No clarification on a full character creator, or if there are just set gender/clan presets like in Bloodlines 1. - The player is fully voiced. - Fabien is a thinblood character that only Phyre can hear (sounds a bit like a V and Johnny Silverhand situation). He's described as an anchor and a compass to the character. He also helps Phyre with technology and the new world. - Romance is hinted at. - Phyre awoke from torpor and a fellow kindred named Ysabella stole some of their power via a strange mark on their hand. - Clothing/fashion choice affects how NPCs will react to the character. You can attempt to alter the resonance of your feeding victims, presumably by scaring them, etc. - You were known as the slayer in Cairo previously and have quite a bit of infamy. There are NPCs in Seattle that will recognize you. You have some say in your backstory. - Multiple endings depending on your decisions.

Alright...thoughts on the gameplay trailer.......it's...aight. Like I do like how the combat looks but I mainly like Vtm for the social aspects so this trailer showcasing the combat does nothing for me.
Like what's the political climate? How do we interact with different factions and sects? Can we join them, can we betray them, can we act as spies for them?
Are they fleshed out or are they one note?
I am hoping that it allows for us to approach situations in different ways and not have too many situations where it's forced combat like in later sections of the first bloodlines.
A lot of folks talk about the facial animations but I have yet to see any modern game with realistic faces AND good facial animations so I'm starting to think it's just not possible. Phyre's (I hate this name so much) does look nicer than the NPCs though.
I really don't like how (at the very least) we couldn't get different character models for different clans like in the first game since we're not getting character creation in this version of Bloodlines 2.
I want to see more of the dialogue and how the social aspects of the game works really and if it's lacking, I can just replay Parliament of Knives and Night Road again.

There's one thing I need from vtmb2.
Another round of Deb of Night. I'm so serious about this. I listen to Deb of Night all the time. I love it so much. I love the music they chose and I love all of the radio talk and I love the comedic commercial breaks. I need this. I need this. I need this more than anything and if I don't get it I will combust.

Legit though, everyone getting angry at the shown off images of your character in Bloodlines 2 needs to breathe. We’re gonna get more dev diaries talking about the games mechanics and insight into the customization, and who knows? They might surprise us! For all we know, they could be holding back some customization details for a later reveal.
The recent update looked cool with how they handled dialogue, especially in terms of character background.
I’m looking forward to the next Dev Diary, where apparently they’ll be talking about combat and weapons. I wanna see what they’re doing with weapons, since all the footage we’ve seen has been mostly hand to hand combat (I hope we still get weapons, like a fire axe. If not, I’m gonna be slightly disappointed but nonetheless interested).
All I’m saying folks, is chill. Take a moment. And realize that if you want a game like VTMB1, the classic game is right there on both Steam and GOG. If this came out and was a carbon copy, everyone would be mad about that. And if you don’t like it? Fine! That’s valid too! Just don’t let that dislike of a game consume you. Use that energy for something else way more productive.
