RFA reacting to a reader who reads minds?

Yoosung would be shocked. To him, your average everyday guy, he's not used to running into people who have abilities that are out of this world. Sure, he has friends who are capable because they have more experience in life than he does, but there's a huge difference between knowing people who have worked their way up in a career field and those who have supernatural abilities. 

He's the only one on the list who will ask a million questions that might seem ridiculous because he's not sure what to ask. It's not even that he's going to ask them, you're going to hear him stumbling through his thoughts as he thinks about different questions to ask you and you're going to leave him flabbergasted when you answer them before he can even vocalize it. It's interesting and cool to him, and he doesn't think about any negatives involved simply because this is another one of those things he wants to praise as being a gift that gives you the ability to be compassionate to others. 

Jaehee would be... well, she's not sure how she feels about it. Morally speaking, she would wonder about the semantics behind your ability. Is it something you can turn off and on? Is it something that is consistently working in the back of your head and you can't turn it off? Is it overwhelming? Do you use it to benefit yourself or others? How do you use this ability and how do you build trust with other people once you reveal that you have this power under your belt?

She takes time to trust other people, and with good reason, and it's not that she wouldn't trust you, it's simply that she would need to understand how you've been using this ability your entire life to feel more comfortable with the situation at hand. The last thing she would want to think about you would be to imagine that you've used these powers to get under her skin to get something for yourself. It's an intrusive thought, one she's not proud of, but it's there all the same. 

Zen would get it. So, you have an ability you don't have any control over and it haunts you in your everyday life? Well, he can't escape his ability. It doesn't matter what happens to him, any injury will be healed sooner than it's supposed to be. He's grown accustomed to it and he doesn't think too hard about it, because when he used to think about it, it left him feeling uncomfortable about himself. It wasn't just his good looks that bothered him when he was a little boy, it was this uncanny ability to be healthy and to know when something bad was going to happen before it happened. 

If you're looking for kinship in somebody who will understand what it feels like to be different, he's your man. Of course, you're going to have to get one silly question out of the way. What color is he thinking of? 

Jumin would be intrigued. Listen, he invites the most curious guests to the party because he loves to learn more about the supernatural in this world... things he knows and things he doesn't. He wants to see things for himself and better understand how they fly under the radar and survive. After all, he knows a vampire! So, learning you have this kind of power wouldn't be a shock to him, and he's now interested in learning more about how it works. Prepare yourself for the talking of a century.

He doesn't want to put you under a microscope. He wants to learn more about you and understand how your powers work because it satisfies his desire to educate himself. This could be a useful ability but it's not one that should be abused. He hopes that you use it for the greater good if you have control over it, but if you can't control it and you hear thoughts all the time, oh, boy. He's researching ways to bring you peace.

Saeyoung would wonder if you've had to live in hiding just the same as he has. That's not going to be his first thought, but it's going to be among the thoughts he has as he tries to figure out how to feel about the fact you can delve into people's minds without their permission. It isn't a good thing that you can grab bits and pieces from someone in an instant. For someone like him, who values his privacy and has to do everything in his power to ward off the rest of the world, knowing that you can hear and feel the wave of paranoia and shame that stays with him no matter where he goes isn't a good feeling.

It's going to take him a while to be comfortable. Listen, it's not a bad thing that you can help him extend his thoughts. It's hard to say what's going on inside his head, but that's the thing. It's hard for him to say it and he needs time to say it himself. You being able to get the thought out of his head before he's able to put it to words isn't a good thing for his boundary. You're both going to have to talk about this if it's an ability you can turn off and on.

Entering the hall reserved for the RFA party felt abnormal; normally everything was fancy, stationed out perfectly with everyone dressed their absolute best to make the best impression to the guests that have attended. The aim of the game with a normal RFA party was to get as many donations as possible to give to charity; this party however? This party was for their former guests, family friends and most importantly the members to just have fun. There was no expectation for donations today.

They entered side by side, her hand fitting snuggly within his, she missed the feeling of his skin - sort of regretting dressing him like this as a joke now. She wasn’t given too much time to threat over it - the moment they entered the hall they were split up. ZEN was cornered by a group interested to use his likeness as a model - no matter how many times he said no they always found him again and tried. She felt her wrist grabbed by her brother - Saeyoung, dressed as a maid. She sighed, shaking her head as Saeran joined the trio.

“A maid and a vampire. You two make a good pair���

“He’s matching with Stark”

She took a moment to look around the room for the ex-secret agent before bursting into laughter. They were dressed as Saeyoung - bearing the exact jacket he did when they very first meet the group. Her eyes looked around, Yoosung was a LOLOL character, Jaehee was a witch and Jumin. Jumin was wearing cat ears. 

“Oh.. it feels good to be around everyone again.”

“Happy Halloween.”

🎃 trick or treat! with the rfa and gojo 🎃

Jumin:

What an intriguing cat lover. While he may seem quite prim and proper, considering he is almost a textbook ISTJ in MBTI (ignoring his cat adorations), it seems quite unlikely that Jumin has yet to celebrate Halloween.

This is exactly why Gojo is here to help break Jumin out of his reclusive shell! At first, it was cat ears, and then it was a cat tail before it ended up being an entire cat costume! 

Gojo, who dressed up as a cat, made Jumin immediately fall in love with the concept of Halloween

In fact, he decided to make his company throw a cat-themed Halloween event just for this

Cat-themed haunted house, cat-themed candy products, cats in the building (for once!) It was all thanks to Gojo’s kitty scheme that the two were finally able to Trick and Treat together

This allowed Gojo and Jumin to celebrate Jumin’s first Halloween together, as the two went trick or treating across various company buildings that Jumin is affiliated with

As Jumin still didn’t understand the rules of Halloween, after he would receive candy from the poor office workers working overtime on this spooky night, Jumin would instead pay them with a hefty stack of cash (meaning that they would have no complaints on this Halloween)

Gojo dressed up as a white cat, while Jumin was dressed up as a vampire with cat ears. This was the closest Jumin could get to a cat cosplay without ruining his company’s image, which was to his dismay

Jumin would be sure to dress up as a cat next Halloween

PS. Elizabeth was also dressed up as a vampire. She had a designer cloak on designed by the most expensive designer

Zen, 707, and Yoosung:

It was 707 and Zen who arranged to meet with Yoosung. The poor college student was heavily overwhelmed with schoolwork, which meant the best way to escape from school was to go trick-or-treating! 

Of course, Yoosung was initially opposed to this, as LOLOL had a limited-edition Halloween event going on! But 707’s bribery with the rare Honey Buddha Chips allowed Yoosung to miss out on the LOLOL event happily

Zen himself had finished a Halloween musical earlier in the day, which meant he was incredibly happy to extend his energy (and to just brag about his musical performance)

Yoosung and Zen decided to match costumes, as they both dressed up as werewolves (well in Yoosung’s case it was more like a puppy…) 

On the other hand, 707 dressed up as Elly, which was much to Zen’s dismay. This already caused him to sneeze out loud

Zen’s sneezing instantly escalated the second 707 decided to go to C&R’s Haunted House. There, the trio ran into Gojo and Jumin (which meant instant coughs! ugh….) who were both cat-adjacent

In fact, Gojo and 707 had the exact SAME cat costume, much to each other's dismay.

Gojo and 707 kept bickering, while Jumin and Zen also decided to have an argument of their own

“Of course a rich kid like you would do this… ACHOO…!” Zen would attempt to argue, but the cat-themed building (and Gojo and 707 + Jumin’s costumes) was enough to make Zen convince himself that there were real cats in the building

It was then that the five decided to explore the haunted house to see. Gojo and 707 decided to bet who would be the first to get scared

And to no one’s surprise, it was Yoosung who was the first to want to go home

Jaehee:

Jaehee, by sheer luck, had a “day off”. This was her well-deserved break before her real “trick” began

As a “treat” for herself, Jaehee miraculously managed to secure tickets to Zen’s Halloween musical. It was the best treat anyone could ever ask for

In fact, she even managed to secure a signed Halloween Zen poster, which made her fan heart overjoyed

This happy event was soon shattered as she was called in for the C&R Halloween event, one that she had strongly argued against working for

What a trick! But of course, Jaehee, as an employee of C&R International, was forced to wear cat ears to celebrate the event 

“We match, nya~!” Jaehee was greeted by 707 just after the RFA + Gojo managed to finish the Haunted House event

“Jaeheeeeeeee! That was so scary T__T” Yoosung cried out to her, which led to her sighing

But of course, this was simply another work day for her, no matter how late the shift was

Lucky for Jaehee, she would also be one of the many workers to receive a hefty bonus on this meowy Halloween

Gojo:

He got here by accident after a Halloween-themed domain expansion was activated

Since Gojo is clearly the strongest, he could definitely kill a few extra minutes in this domain

Plus, it definitely didn't hurt to have a good time with the RFA along the way, right?

Remember when Zen had a phase where he kept calling himself a Greek god?

He even edited his face over the statue of one.

Not to mention, he poses as Aphrodite on the April Fool's cover (mans better watch out for her 😭).

So, it comes to no one's surprise that Zen would dress up as an ancient God.

Of course he loves to show himself off, so he'll wear a sort of silky, white cloth draped around his body, paired with gold sandals.

He'll tie back his hair with a golden hairpiece.

Leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination. His abs are on full display and he takes a bunch of photos lol

For some reason I can see Zen using body glitter?? If he was rocking up to a Halloween party, then all those lights are gonna be competing with Zen since he's the most shimmery one there.

He's a vampire dressed as a brooding dark lord in the Victorian era, living alone with his cat in some high, high castle. (I'm a sucker for some Victorian vampires)

In this high castle of his (*cough* penthouse), he swishes his red wine domineeringly

I think Zen would tease him for his costume because if you thought Yoosung looked emo, Jumin takes the cake. And he's wearing eyeliner!

I know this might be a little bit biased,

His hair is gelled up and styled to one side, and he's wearing a sleek black suit

He's also wearing the iconic white mask

His pants have chains on them because just yes

Saeran wearing suits isn't an uncommon theme, and while Suit Saeran isn't exactly one of the best versions of himself, I think it'd still be cool if he incorporated chains in his POTO costume.

Okay maybe I'm really biased

It's me again! I have a question for you. What do you think Jumin and Harry would think of each other? I feel like it's not too much of a stretch to imagine them mingling (begrudgingly) at the same social events, maybe even an RFA party. I wanna hear your thoughts :)

I was just thinking about this! I think they know about each other's existence even though they keep forgetting because they're not important to e/o, but their families are definitely acquainted. I can imagine Harry attending the RFA party with his horse mask and Jumin's like ??? Is this a new trend that young people are doing? Interesting. Maybe I should try it too. *proceeds to stress Jaehee out for a custom cat mask* While Harry is just when does this end why is this businessman asking me about the materials of my mask I want to go home.

Imagine how Zen would feel though?! He already has to deal with a horseman at his MOM work, then when he drops by the RFA he's greeted with a catman. I'd pay to see his reaction.

If they meet during a family-related event however, I think Jumin would strike the conversation first and they'd have a concise, maybe a bit stilted exchange. Jumin is great at small talk, Harry isn't. Harry usually responds with haha yeah and resigns to whatever his opponent says. I wonder if they'd have a common ground to talk about? Both are fiercely private in their own way, and Harry doesn't care about the things Jumin finds interest in (i.e. dark magic books, vampires, wine). Jumin genuinely has A Lot of Opinions while Harry gives zero fuck about almost everything.

They'd respect each other and could get along on formal occasions, but I can't see them being good friends. Or maybe they'd bond over Zen's hatred for seemingly cold, eccentric chaebols LOL. I can see them teasing him (I'm slowly discovering Harry's playful side and it's a DELIGHT). We all know in what ways Jumin pokes fun at Zen, and I think Harry would pull this on him too:

I feel like he'd enjoy reading for some reason and he really likes the classic romance novels. His favorite is Persuasion by Jane Austen. Or if we're talking modern classics I see him as an Outsiders kind of guy. (He loves the family element, reminds him of the RFA in a way-)

I agree that he prefers classic romance novels - something about the way romance is portrayed in those books compared to the ways he has been forced to experience it in real life perhaps?

I haven't read Outsiders, but I definitely see him enjoying books that are about family dynamics and found family. Anything that reminds him of how much he cares for the RFA.

2. Are they big on books? If so, do they read books as they buy them or end up with a long to-read list?

I definitely see him as the bookish type. I think he keeps up a pretty consistent reading schedule where he has a book always ongoing. I imagine that he reads on his way home from work perhaps, or in the evening with Elizabeth III on his lap, and before he goes to sleep.

His collection of books is a bookworm's dream, but it definitely skews more classic than modern literature. Aside from that, he has a pretty wide range of books, from nonfiction books to quote books (including the ones he wrote and the ones his father wrote). Classic fiction and obscure books on ancient magic and vampire biographies. He approaches each book he reads with the same earnestness, regardless of the subject matter. He particularly likes books that give him a peek into a life that he'd never be able to experience otherwise.

I don't think he keeps up a constant to-read list, except for rare books that he likes to collect. He likes to pick up books without knowing much about them before starting, perhaps on the recommendation of his father or the RFA members (or you!). If he finds a book that relates to something that they're experiencing currently, he'd probably pick it up to see if it could help them somehow.

Also, I think he'd read any books or texts relating to the roles Zen plays. It helps him to grasp Zen's struggles in embodying different complex characters and means he can give advice based on his own interpretation of the story. If Zen takes that advice is a different story (though he's always surprised at Jumin's knowledge).

2 Aug 23 Immortals

“My lord, the humans have arrived.” The servant knelt at Jumin’s feet, head down.

“Excellent, let the others know the feast is set.” Jumin’s dark hair was swept into a long braid down his back to his waist. His long nails clicked together, his mouth almost watering. Another decade had passed since the last feast and his clan was hungry. Though they could go several generations without blood, it tended to have side effects, leaving them sluggish. The deal they had made centuries ago with the people of this country was that they would feed the clan and the clan would protect them as best they could.

Every 10 years the location changed, and a different region was responsible for sending a group of humans. This year they were in the mountain region and the folk here were hardy and strong. The blood would be thick and rich, the thought of the upcoming banquet filled him with longing. He kept his pace steady, back straight, grey eyes focused just ahead of him. It would not do to have the head of the clan skip towards his meal. The thought made the edges of his lips quirk upwards, the tips of his pointed ears warm. Ah, that warmth, so fleeting to the undead.

As he neared the banquet hall he saw the silver flowing hair of Zen slip inside. He sighed and slowed his step. He did not look forward to the man’s sharp tongue.

“You should just punish him. It is unbecoming to challenge our leader so openly on a daily basis. You let him get away with too much.” V’s voice spoke up behind him. Jumin rolled his eyes at the teasing tone.

“I would easily concede the clan into your hands. You are after all, the elder. Then you can chastise that child any way you wish.”

V threw his blue haired head back in deep laughter as he linked his arm with the other man. They had been friends even before undeath took them, V a few months older than Jumin.

“Or, you could give him what he wants.” V said slyly, glancing sideways at his friend.

Jumin took a deep breath but wisely kept silent. They walked into the banquet hall together, arm in arm. The humans were huddled in the center of the room with three long tables at the sides of the room and the longest opposite the doorway at the other end of the room.

Already in their seats were the red headed twins Saeyoung and Saeran, appearing to be choosing which human they were going to drink from. If he didn’t get this started soon they would end up physically fighting. Yoosung, the beautiful blond with the purple eyes nodded to Jumin and took his seat opposite the twins. He looked hungry but kept his eyes down, hands clasped on his lap. He was the newest member of the clan, still learning their ways, though he had had no difficulty in restraining himself among humans. This would be his second feast and if the first was any indication, he would partake as little as he could. He was indeed remarkable.

In the center of the head table was his second in command, Jaehee. Her auburn hair was in a tight bun, several hairpins adorning it like a crown. Brown eyes surveyed the humans, flitting from one to another rapidly. He knew she calculated how much blood they would be able to harvest and how much they could safely preserve.

Zen eyed the humans but conversed with Jaehee, or at least he attempted to. Her inattention did not alter his continuing chatter. Jumin noticed the man’s red eyes flick towards him then quickly away again. The vampire took a single alabaster finger and twirled the lustrous silver hair enticingly. Jumin looked away as he made his way around the table on the right. V followed and laughed under his breath.

“Not a word.” Jumin said through gritted teeth.

“I wouldn’t dream of it.” V pressed his lips together as if to prove what he said. He glanced at the crowd. The humans were silent, eyes darting around the room. They didn’t smell as if they were afraid, but they were apprehensive and nervous. All of them were between the ages of 25 and 40, prime age for the best blood. Other than that, there were many differences, some women, some men, short, tall, thin, obese, and everything in between. They had been bathed and clothed in soft cotton that fit loosely.

As he made his way to the center of the head table to sit next to Jaehee, he ruminated on that word. Vampire. The myths that had grown around that name were laughable. Garlic didn’t bother them, crossing running water was as easy for them as it was for humans, a stake through the heart would kill them, but, it would kill anyone else as well. And then there was holy water and crosses. How many times had he encountered a holy man waving a cross around as if it would repel him in any way. Pious or not, did not matter. They slept as any human did, and did not do it in a coffin, nor did they need the “soil from their homeland”. It was all nonsense. The only thing they had right was that they needed blood to survive. But even that was muddled. Had there been instances where one of their kind had taken without consent. Yes. And there had even been some unfortunate deaths from those newly birthed. On the whole however, they were not so different from the humans, albeit stronger. He did wistfully think about being able to turn into a bat or mist. It would feel wonderful to fly.

“Looks like a good harvest this year my lord.” Jaehee said as he sat next to her.

“Indeed.” He waited as V sat and watched Saeran, the younger of the twins, stand and settle next to Yoosung. The red head had taken quite a liking to the blond and it made Jumin smile to see it. MC came running in, her auburn hair flying behind her, she quickly scanned the room and her honey brown eyes settled on the older of the twins, Saeyoung. The smile that spread across her face was infectious. That had been a surprise. Especially since Saeyoung had been stuck in a dangerous depression. She sat by him and grabbed his arm, laying her head on his shoulder.

“Since we are all here, let’s begin.” Jumin said loudly. Attendants filed into the room and took the humans towards the contraptions lining the walls of the room. They settled each human next to each and attached thick needles into their jugulars. It didn’t take long for the blood to flood through the tube and into containers.

The draining was efficient and quick, the vampires chatting to themselves quietly, while keeping an eye on the scene around them. The smell of iron in the air brought out their fangs and they grew silent.

Once the containers were full the attendants freed the humans from the contraptions and led them gently to the seats around the table. They were a bit groggy and dazed but complied easily. As the last human was seated, the feast was brought in for them. The vampires sat and began to converse with the humans once they were again in their right minds. The night went well, the clan civilly waiting for the humans to be escorted out and back to their village before engaging in their own feast.

The blood, so fresh and still warm was poured into their glasses and they enjoyed the rest of the night, Jumin’s cheeks flushed, his mouth widening in a rare smile. His grey eyes met Zen’s crimson orbs and he sighed visibly. Zen grinned and gave him a wink before turning to speak to Yoosung. The man was a handful, but Jumin had always been up for a challenge.
