The Vamana Avatar of Lord Vishnu
Vamana is Lord Vishnu’s fifth avatar (incarnation), taking the form of a stunning young brahmin. He was the one who defeated the Asura King Mahabali and handed the Deva Loka back to Lord Indra.
Know more about Mahabali and Vamana Avatar. Get an online astrology consultation with a professional astrologer to find out the answers to all of your questions.
The narrative of King Mahabali and Vamana’s Vishnu avatar is told in the Shrimad Bhagavatam’s Eighth Canto.
Lord Vamana is associated with the planet Jupiter in the Bṛhat Parashar Hora Shastra, a work on Vedic astrology by Maharshi Parashar. Vamana serves as a metaphor for the wise person who is familiar with the cosmos.
Lord Vishnu's incarnation as Vamana
The powerful asura king Bali existed during the Satya Yuga, according to Shrimad Bhagavatam. The man was Prahalad’s grandson. He overthrew the deva king Lord Indra and took possession of Deva Loka. Aditi and Kashyap Muni, the parents of the Devas, were thrown off by this (demigods).
Aditi and Kashyap pleaded to Vishnu for his protection from the Asuras for their sons. Lord Vishnu appeared at Kashyap and his wife’s home via prayer and service. Then, Lord Vishnu manifested as the dwarf brahmana Vamana.
The great sages carried out all the required sacred rites after being pleased to view the manifestations of Vishnu. Vamana was initiated as a brahmin at the event, and Lord Surya spoke the Gayathri mantra while Brihaspati presented a sacred thread and Kashyap a grass belt.
He received a deerskin from Bhudevi (Mother Earth), and a brahma-danda, or brahmachari’s stick, from Chandra deva. He was given underwear by Mother Aditi, and an umbrella by the sky god.
The seven sages presented kusha grass to Lord Vamana, Maa Sarasvati brought a Rudraksha rosary, and Lord Brahma brought a pitcher of water. He was given a begging bowl by Lord Kuber, and Maa Bhagavati made the first offering.
The greatest of the Brahmacharis, Lord Vamana, welcomed and blessed everyone in attendance before revealing the brilliance of Brahman. He thus overshadowed the entire gathering, which was made up of outstanding saints and brahmins, with His beauty.

Mahabali and Vamana Avatar
Lord Vamana, who was renowned for his generosity, participated in the Yajna of King Mahabali. The kid Vamana was honored by the king when he arrived. He welcomed Him and announced that he wished to present Him with a gift. Back then, no Brahmin was ever turned away. Only three feet of land were requested by Vamana. Surprised, Mahabali asked Vamana to inquire further.
Mahabali’s Guru, Guru Shukracharya, was aware that this brahmin was not a regular individual. He understood that Lord Vishnu had assumed the shape of a brahmin kid to ruin Mahabali’s riches. Shukracharya started reprimanding his student for making a three-step land promise. According to him, Lord Vishnu was sent to trick Bali and rob him of all his wealth.
The earth, Mahabali said, could support the mass of hills and oceans but not the weight of a liar. Vamana’s prayer was therefore granted, and Trivikrama was created from the dwarf (giant form).
Lord Vamana put the entire cosmos under his feet in just two steps. Because there was no better available space, King Bali volunteered to place the third step atop his head. When Vamana was satisfied, he put the third step on his head and gave Bali permission to go to Patal Loka with the asuras’ army and establish authority there. Lord Indra reclaimed his Deva Loka or Swarga empire.
Lesson from Vamana Avatar According to Vamana, someone who lacks self-control would never be happy, even if they acquire all of the world’s wealth. However, someone who has self-control will always be happy. Even with a lot of money, those who prioritize material stuff are never happy.
Controlling our senses is important.
Lord Vamana reminded the King during the discussion between Vamana and Bali that to obtain true satisfaction in life, irrespective of worldly riches, one must be able to control their senses. True believers are always content with what they possess.
Truthfulness Lesson
Mahabali responded that he could not lie to the Brahman since the burden of a liar is too great for Mother Earth to bear when Shukracharya begged him to reject the commitment made to Vamana. One of the guiding principles of religion is sincerity. Vishnu restored dharma as a result of Mahabali’s honesty, and Bali remained in power as an Asura king.
Unwavering Devotion
Mahabali is a singular illustration of a believer who has given himself over to Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu occasionally sends us tribulations in the shape of hardship and adversity. A devotee might easily turn to the Divine in such a hopeless circumstance. When Lord Vishnu, on the other hand, grants us everything – wealth, strength, attraction, and wisdom – it turns into a far more serious challenge.
We must be careful not to become arrogant and misuse them. We can also recall the brilliance of the young brahmin kid Shri Vamana Deva in securing the “super-special mercy” required in such a circumstance.

Varuthini Ekadashi 2024: Date, parana time, puja rituals, history and significance of the festival
Varuthini Ekadashi, also known as Baruthani Ekadashi, marks a sacred day in Hindu tradition, occurring on the 11th lunar day (Ekadashi) of the waning moon in the Hindu months of Chaitra or Vaishakha. Falling in either April or May by both lunar calendars, this day holds significance as devotees honour Vamana, the fifth avatar of Vishnu. Ekadashi is revered as an auspicious time for fasting, particularly dedicated to worshipping Lord Vishnu. Devotees consider Ekadashi an auspicious day for fasting and engaging in various religious rituals to pay homage to Vishnu. Throughout the year, there are a total of 24 Ekadashi observances, with two occurring each month during Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha lunar phases, each carrying its unique significance and associated stories.
Varuthini Ekadashi 2024 Date and Time
This year, the significant Hindu occasion of Varuthini Ekadashi will be observed on Saturday, May 4. According to Drik Panchang, the auspicious timings to observe the festival are as follows:
Ekadashi Tithi Begins - 23:24 PM on May 03, 2024
Ekadashi Tithi Ends - 20:38 PM on May 04, 2024
Parana Time- 06:05 to 08:35 AM, May 05
On Parana Day Dwadashi End Moment - 17:41 PM
Varuthini Ekadashi Significance
Ekadashi has deep religious significance in Hindu culture, with Varuthini Ekadashi being a notable occasion. Falling in the month of Vaishakha according to the Purnimanta calendar and in Chaitra according to the Amavasyant calendar, it is widely observed in South India. Devotees observe strict fasting on this auspicious day and devote themselves to the worship of Lord Vishnu. Puja ceremonies and various religious activities are performed with reverence.
Many devotees engage in spiritual practices such as dhyan yoga and meditation, and some observe maun vrat (silence) for the day to attain inner peace and tranquillity. Varuthini Ekadashi is also known as Baruthani Ekadashi. On this occasion, prayers are offered to the Vamana avatar of Lord Vishnu, who is believed to protect those who observe the fast diligently from negative energies and evil influences.

NERD OUT ABOUT SOMETHING YOU LIKE
please
if you want to
IM SO SORRY FOR ANSWERING THIS SO LATE 😭 but anything for you my dearest!!
So, hindu people believe in mainly 3 things.
The creator
The sustainer
The destroyer
So according to Hindu cosmology, there is something called a yuga cycle. Yuga Cycle lasts for 4,320,000 years. There are 4 yugas in total. In each yuga, lord Vishnu ( the sustainer ) took birth in an avatar to serve Dharma ( divine justice ) to humanity and help humans expand their consciousness. He has 10 avatars also known as Dashavatar.
Satya Yuga - People in this period were immersed in meditation and possessed spiritual strength and longevity. There was no inequality, war or famine and everyone lived in peace. But as it progressed, people became a bit distant from spiritual practices and a class-based system came into place.
Treta Yuga- there were still some divisions among people but over all, they had peace and prosperity. Lord Vishnu reincarnated as parshuram, vamana and Sri Ramachandra.
Dvapara Yuga- In this yuga, Lord Vishnu reincarnated as Krishna. The Mahabharata took place. The Vedas ( hindu books ) were categorised. People began to stray from the righteous path and their dharma ( duty ) and corruption took places, wars broke out. Lord Krishna ascended to restore virtues and destroy evil again. This was also the time Krishna recited the Bhagavad Gita ( scared book of Hindus) to Arjuna.
Kali Yuga- this is the Yuga we are in now. It is said that evil took over, people are astray from their dharma, there is barely spirituality left. Corruption has taken place, hypocrisy has taken over people. People have become criminals. The environment is said to be destroyed and nothing is left. The holy river Ganges will become dry, no food or water so people will resort to cannibalism. Humanity will be destroyed. During the end of the Kali Yuga, it is said lord Vishnu will come in the avatar of 'Kalki' and establish dharma again and humans will go extinct and Satya yug will take place again. Thus, this will all repeat again.
Here's a image for better understanding.
I am an Agnostic actually, but I think this might be real. So Hindus don't eat cow and most dont eat meat ( we are actually supposed to be vegetarians as killing of animals is a sin ) We are actually prohibited to eat meat in some times during the year and meat is strictly not allowed in temples. So there is this famous pilgrimage place called Tirupati in India. It is the temple of Lord Vishnu and many devotees go there to seek the lords blessings (I've gone there and it's really nice) there's so many people who want to see the idol in the temple so it is packed all around the year. So it's almost normal for people to wait around for almost 10+ hours. Theres a whole system but I won't get into that right now. So, after visiting the temple we get Prasad ( a offering to god ) and it is a laddu. It tastes so good!!! but recently it was tested in a lab and it found that the laddu was made with cow and pig fat. This broke out a whole controversy. Hence, I think we are really straying from the path of spirituality. Also the this is the laddu:
Thank you for bearing with me this long. I tried to make this less confusing as possible because there is so many other things that should be covered but it's ABSURDLY long😭 I'm not a 100% sure you would understand everything.. but please ask me questions if you didn't understand anything<3

Note
So in Hindu mythology, Tvashtar, Indra, Varuna and Vamana (Vishnu avatar) are all siblings.
Basically Tvastar, Taishaluten and Kalki are all Daichi's siblings and he dates the first one.

The Handsome One
Ravidasan: Tell me the truth, girl! You've not lost your heart to the youngster’s [Vanthiyathevan] beauty, have you? Nandini: Chi, chi! What words! How can anyone talk about a man’s beauty? Only in this debased Chozha country do people rejoice over a good-looking Emperor. Aren’t battle scars the only signs of beauty in a man?” Ravidasan: That's well said.
Sundaran was a name frequently used by Pandya men, not Cholas. The first Pandya king who was named Sundaran is believed to have been Siva himself and he is worshipped as Sundareshwaran, the husband of Queen Thadathagai (Madurai Meenakshi).
Quite funnily, Meenakshi's brother (Vishnu) is also called the handsome one - Alagar.
Alagar giving away his sister Meenakshi to Sundarar
The pairing of Veeran and Sundaran as brothers' names is repeated throughout Pandya history. Veera Pandyan mentioned in the novel too had a brother named Sundaran. Veera Pandyan's Sivakasi Copper Plates say,
Just like Maha Vishnu (Upendran*) who conquered the world by his prowess had Devendran as his elder brother, he [Veera Pandyan] had an elder brother named Sundarapandyan, who was a refuge for scholars.
This prince could have been a scholar and poet like Kandharadithan and Veera Pandyan could have been the more militarily active brother. Anyway Sundaran died when he was young, probably before Veeran rebelled against Cholas (we don't know if Veera Pandyan himself offed him ☠️). He constructed a pallippadai (sepulchre temple) Sundara Pandyar Isvaram-udayar Kovil, for his dear annan after he became the king.
Now the temple is known as Kalainathaswamy Temple and the village is called Pallimadam. This temple was quite famous in the academic circles during the time of publication of Ponniyin Selvan because it is the only Pandyan memorial temple that has survived to the present day.
An article published by The Hindu about the temple
Basically, Kalki is hinting that Nandini who is associated with Pandya rebels doesn't even know the basics of Pandya conventions or the bare minimum details about her dead 'master'. This is another historical easter egg like The Curious Case of Parthivendran. She is just bluffing and coasting with whatever little she knows and hoping that her emotional appeals will work. It is obvious that she got this idea from the rants of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, the veteran of 24 battles who bears 64 scars on his venerable body.
Meanwhile Ravidasan who really needs Nandini's Lankan coins is like
Bonus information: Pandya dynasty fell apart due to the civil war between another Veeran and Sundaran 🤣 in the 14th c.
* Upendran - Younger brother of Indran. This might be a bit confusing. In the beginning of early texts like Rig Veda, Vishnu is a minor god and Indra, as the King of Gods and the personification of the forces of weather is a mighty God. Later, Indra's influence reduced and Vishnu overtook him. Gradually, 'Upendra' came to refer only to Vamana, one of the avatars of Vishnu who was born as a younger son of Aditi. Still this Vedic influence can be seen in several later texts too, calling Rama and Krishna 'Upendra'.
Here, Vishnu/Upendran = Veera Pandyan, the younger brother Indran = Sundara Pandyan, the elder brother.

Why Lord Vishnu sleeps for 4 months?
Lord Vishnu sleeps for four months on Devshayani Ekadashi of Ashadh month. During which no auspicious work is done in Hinduism. Like marriage, birth ceremony, sacred thread ceremony, house warming and shaving etc. The month in which Lord Vishnu is in deep sleep is called Chaturmas.
From this day all the work of running the universe is removed from the shoulders of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva takes over his work. In simple words, Lord Vishnu goes to Patal Lok for these four months. And the entire work of creation goes into the hands of Lord Shiva.
According to Scriptures, once a king named Bali had captured all the three worlds. Then Indradev approached Lord Vishnu for help. On which Lord Vishnu took an incarnation named Vamana. And after taking the Vamana avatar, Lord Vishnu came in the guise of a Brahmin to King Bali to beg for alms.
And asked for three steps in charity. During this, Vishnu ji measured the earth and the sky in just two steps. After this Vishnu ji asked King Bali where he should take his third step. On which King Bali asked him to put the third step on King Bali's head.
After which all the pride of King Bali was shattered and due to the kindness and charitable nature of King Bali, Lord Vishnu asked King Bali to ask for a boon. After this, King Bali asked Lord Vishnu to return to Patal Lok.
During this, Lord Vishnu told King Bali that he would stay in Patal Lok from Devshayani Ekadashi of Shukla month of Ashadha to Devuthani Ekadashi of Shukla month of Kartik. Since then, every year in the month of Ashadh, Lord Vishnu goes to Chirnidra from Devshayani Ekadashi and no religious work is done during this time.

Vishnu Dreams the Universe Talon Abraxas
Lord Vishnu, the Hindu God of Preservation
Vishnu is regarded as a major god in Hinduism and Indian mythology. He is thought as the preserver of the universe, while two other major Hindu gods, Brahma and Shiva, are considered the creator and destroyer of the universe, respectively. Vishnu is described as being the color of clouds (dark- blue), four-armed, holding a lotus, mace, conch and chakra. In the Bhagavad Gita, Vishnu is also described as having a ‘Cosmic Form’ which is beyond the ordinary limits of human sense perception. As the preserver of the cosmos, Vishnu upholds the universal laws. Unlike Shiva, who often seeks refuge in the forest to meditate, Vishnu constantly participates in worldly affairs, ensuring that all is well.
When order prevails in the universe, Vishnu sleeps on the coils of Sesha (serpent), ruler of the Nagas. As Sesha floats along the cosmic ocean supporting Vishnu, the universe unfolds from Vishnu’s dream. But when there is disorder in the universe, Vishnu either mounts his vehicle, Garuda (eagle), and battles with the forces of chaos, or he sends one of his Avatars (incarnations) to save the world. It is believed that Vishnu would have ten such Avatars, the most popular being Rama and Krishna. The full list of ten Avatars is: the fish Matsya, the turtle Kurma, the boar Varaha, the man-lion Narasimha, the dwarf Vamana, the warrior-priest Parashurama, the prince Rama, the cowherd Krishna, the sage Buddha-Mayamoha, and the one yet to come, the horseman Kalki.
Vishnu is said to use both force and guile to ensure the stability of the universe. His consort Laxmi, Goddess of Wealth and Power, offers him the wherewithal to maintain the integrity of the world. Today, Lord Vishnu is one of the most highly revered deities. His name means “Pervader” and he is the symbol of sustaining goodness. In the epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, he is glorified through the Avatars Rama and Krishna. Vishnu is invoked as the All-Pervading essence of all beings, who supports, sustains and governs the Universe. Lord Vishu symbolizes the strength to persevere and sustain the good in your life. May you have that Vishnu-inspired strength to sustain lasting goodness.

ASIAN MYTHOLOGY
-Hindu Mythology-
Here is a piece of the larger framework of Asian mythology located in India
हिंदूपौराणिक कथा will refer to the mythological framework of people in INDIA near the INDUS VALLEY that has been upheld for nearly FOUR MILLENNIA. Creation is accredited to Brahma; the creator of everything. He will, nonetheless, emerge from a GOLDEN EGG. Its pantheon, including him, will center around the TRINITY OF GODS that will include BRAHMA, VISHNU, AND SHIVA. There are other deities that exclude THE TRINITY that will represent GOD in another form known as an AVATAR. From this, the mythology made in their image was given to account for the CUSTOMS of the people of India.

Vishnu took the form of Kurma to churn the ocean in order to reach any treasure dissolved in the ocean of milk. He placed it on his back for support, which gave him the leverage needed to stir that great volume.
