Hi! I know this message is a bit out of the blue, but I just want to say that I was very surprised to see that you followed me back! I don't know if you meant it or if it was a mistake, but either way, it doesn't matter because whenever I see you in my notifications I always go "omg, that's arealtrashact!!!" and it makes me a lil bit happy because you're one of my favourite artists here!

I've talked about how much I love your art in the tags before, but what really strikes me about your work is how you seem to have a very keen eye when it comes to your subjects, so when you translate your interpretations into illustrations they're always so meaningful and vivid; it's like they're bursting at the seams with the subject's essence. It always leaves me in awe. I've got to admit that I think a lot about your Elvis in the Army and Elvis in Las Vegas pieces. But I also adore all your other work of other musicians, Homelander and even things I'm not familiar with! I'm not an artist myself, so I feel like my vocabulary is falling short of what makes your art so great to me, but it's just *so* striking! And the way you use colour and the fluidity of your character's body and mannerisms are just superb.

Anyway, sorry for the lengthy message! All this to say that you're one of my favourite bloggers, and whether you're sharing your art or posting about the things you love, it's always a pleasure seeing you on my dashboard. Absolutely, it's one of the best reviews I've read! I also loved the "rebel to relic" line; it totally distills what the film is about and what Baz wanted to capture, the way the energy crests and falls. I think that shows in the pacing, how we start frenetic and fast and gradually slow into something more reflective and somber. In the span of 20 years! The world really did change so much in that time, as did Elvis, and he deserved a longer career where he could be proud of all the peaks and valleys. Thank you for articulating everything so wonderfully! Also your point about each frame being purposefully dense and complex, just like the man himself. :)

Elvis Caretaker

If you were to take care of one type of Elvis which one would it be?

Obviously because these 3 films were produced (or started production in Kid Galahad's case) in 1961, I'd take care of 1961 himbo Elvis. There's a wholesomeness to these films where to me the stories are character driven. If Elvis's character isn't written well and if he doesn't give off a good performance, the movie would suffer.

I want to take care of this Elvis and encourage him to fight for better material including being able to make his own. It's honestly incredible how the 3 gifs show a wide range of emotion. Even in the Kid Galahad gif, that expression ties into his character and I just wanna protect this pure himbo boy.

Shout outs to @seredelgi and @valkaryah for making these gifs. I randomly put this together and realized they all really show case Elvis' acting ability.

Hi! Weird message but I know you love Taylor Swift and I was watching season two of The Bear and I couldn't helpt but to think of you. So one of the main cast, Richie, who's at first sight this massive loser, turns out to be a big Taylor Swift fan because his ex-wife (whom he still loves) and his daughter LOVE Taylor. And in the 2nd season he's just so into it and there's like so many Taylor Swift Moments in the show. Like a 40 year old man driving super fast while belting a Taylor Swift song?! And it's so great and funny but also sentimental. Anyways it made me think of you and I just wanted to let you know. Hope you're well <3

the bear is on my list of shows i need to check out, i saw the clip of him singing along to love story and it was delightful, and having the context is even better. i adore that they have a grown man embracing something his ex-wife and daughter love, and then enjoying it and loving it unabashedly himself, and it's so fitting they'd choose taylor to represent that! funny and sentimental usage of artists i love makes me so happy. 🥰

Favorite instrument: The acoustic guitar is a very sentimental instrument for me, but I love the sound of the cello and the electric organ.  

Aesthetic: Im a fan of aesthetic in general, I find beauty in any aesthetic thats well curated tbh but for my own self I like a clean semi-modern living space surrounded by greenery. But for my clothing I like a sophisticated modern goth style with masculine/androgynous touches

Favorite author: Hmm not sure if I have a favorite author but Brigid Kemmerer & Marie Lu have writen some favorites. And so far Chip Zdarsky is prooving to be my favorite comic author. 

Random fun fact: One of my favorite hobbies is gardening! Every year I get a little better at it but I have 18 houseplants in my room alone! And thats not including the mini greenhouse in here I also grow herbs in, or the actual produce garden I have outside. This summer I also added a pollinator garden and it turned out so pretty!

Getting my Bachelors this year.

2. I have two stuffed tigers in my room.

3. My blog's only a couple months old.

4. Never had a cat or a dog. Just a couple birds and fish.

5. Currently binge watching season 2 of Masterchef Australia.

6. I'm a Libra born in the year of the dragon.

7. I don't eat red meat like beef or pork. Not for religious reasons or ethical reasons I just don't care for the taste.

8. Deke Rivers is one of my favorite Elvis characters. He was one of the main characters in Elvis' film Loving You from 1957 hence the name of my blog.

9. Really enjoy apple fritters and would love to get authentic apple strudel from Germany
