The Shelby would shame the Mach-E or Tesla on any winding road, of course. Yet the Mach-E is reasonably fun through the curvy stuff, and glides with addictive thrust and confidence. A cinema-scale, 15.5-inch touch screen sneaks past the Tesla’s 15-inch unit. Like other E.V.s, the Ford broadcasts its presence below 20 m.p.h., a throat-clearing hum to alert pedestrians. Inside, in its driver-selectable “Whisper” mode, the Ford would please the most persnickety librarian. Dial up “Unbridled” mode and the Mach-E trades glorious silence for an overwrought, faux-engine sound: Think a V-8, remixed by Kraftwerk. That’s $2,800 less than the most-affordable Mach-E. It’s also less money, after credits, than a smaller Chevrolet Bolt. The more powerful ID.4 with all-wheel drive will start at $37,370, postcredit. Still, as Tesla’s triumph and Chevy’s lukewarm Bolt have proved, there’s more to electric success than an attractive price. VW is aggressively investing $80 billion to develop E.V.s, but the ID.4 feels less like a market splash and more like a toe in the water. We’ll see if VW erred by not kicking off with a recognizable design that truly connects its nostalgic, weed-hazed past to today’s green virtues: the electric ID.Buzz Microbus, due in 2023. Volvo XC40 Recharge Volvo seems such a natural fit for E.V.s. And the progressive-minded brand brings us the XC40 Recharge, an electrified take on its gasoline XC40. The Recharge is like that perfect dining table in a shelter magazine: You’re not sure why it costs so much, but you want it anyway. The Recharge’s wedgy Scandinavian styling tops every S.U.V. in this group, as does its lovely interior. That includes soft Nappa leather, versus the ascetic “vegan” materials of many E.V.s. The drive is similarly breezy, with 402 horses and a quicksilver, 4.7-second flight to 60 m.p.h. The biggest tech talking point may be Android Automotive OS: The Recharge (and Volvo’s electric Polestar 2) introduces a cloud-based Google operating system that works like a dream, with Google Maps, search, an ultra-capable voice assistant and more. Several major automakers, including G.M. and Ford, plan to make Android Automotive the nerve centers of coming cars. If only the Volvo itself were as efficient. The Recharge is an electron guzzler, with a 208-mile range that seems optimistic in real-world use. I drove the Recharge in frigid New York weather, which explained some but not all of its hunger for power: No matter how I babied the throttle, the Volvo stayed on a pace for 190 miles, at best, covering about 2.4 miles for each kilowatt-hour in the batteries. I can achieve 3.6 miles per kilowatt-hour with little effort in the Tesla Model Y and above 3.2 in the Ford. Environmental Protection Agency numbers bear that out: Despite having virtually the same-size battery, the Tesla brings 326 miles of maximum range, 118 more than the Volvo. The Recharge is also expensive for its intimate size: $54,985 to start, and nearly $60,000 for the model I drove. That $7,500 federal tax break softens the blow. Dos R$ 7 bilhões que a Volkswagen irá investir no Brasil até 2020, cerca de R$ 5 bilhões estão sendo direcionados para as fábricas paulistas no período. Desse montante, para as novidades que serão apresentadas ainda no biênio 2019-2020, as unidades paulistas receberão investimentos da ordem de R$ 2,4 bilhões.
Graças à Regionalização promovida pela marca Volkswagen mundialmente, a região que compreende a América do Sul, Central e Caribe passou a contar com mais autonomia e investir de forma ainda mais relevante no desenvolvimento de veículos. Um dos resultados é a criação de um modelo 100% desenvolvido no País, que traz um conceito inédito em seu segmento no mercado brasileiro e conta com um grande potencial para exportação. Além do Brasil, também será produzido na Europa. A produção do modelo se dará na unidade Anchieta e só foi possível graças ao acordo coletivo com os empregados, por meio do sindicato dos metalúrgicos do ABC.
“É a primeira vez que a Volkswagen do Brasil irá exportar o conceito de um novo veículo desenvolvido 100% aqui e que terá abrangência global. É a globalização da tecnologia e do conhecimento desenvolvidos no Brasil. Um carro que representará um novo segmento, com novidades que certamente irão atrair e conquistar ainda mais clientes para a marca Volkswagen. É o conceito New Urban Coupé, com design que traz esportividade aliada a uma posição de dirigir mais elevada. É uma receita única no segmento que ele irá ocupar. A chegada desse inédito modelo marcará também a entrada no mercado de um novo infotainment (que congrega os sistemas de áudio, conectividade e multimídia do veículo), totalmente desenvolvido no Brasil. Cerca de 50 engenheiros trabalharam no projeto que será exportado a partir do Brasil e também estará em outras linhas de montagem pelo mundo.
Como destaques, o novo infotainment traz usabilidade intuitiva e alto nível de conectividade e personalização. É a Volkswagen do Brasil exportando não só o produto em si, como também a inteligência e o desenvolvimento de tecnologia para novos mercados. Parte crucial na estratégia da Nova Volkswagen, os investimentos em Digitalização já estão acelerando os processos e mudando a experiência dos clientes com a marca. O novo veículo está sendo desenvolvido desde o início com as ferramentas e processos de digitalização mais avançados. O design totalmente digitalizado permite agilidade nas possíveis alterações nas linhas do carro, seguindo as necessidades apontadas em clínicas com os clientes. A chegada do inédito modelo exigirá investimentos nas linhas de produção da Anchieta. A unidade receberá um novo conjunto de prensas (PXL), que garante maior produtividade e qualidade para abastecer as linhas de montagem.
Com o novo equipamento, serão produzidas quatro vezes mais peças por minuto na comparação com a linha de prensas anterior. A troca das ferramentas de estampagem, que mudam dependendo do veículo ou da peça a ser produzida, também é reduzida de 45 para 5 minutos apenas. Além da novidade, a unidade Anchieta já fabrica mais quatro veículos: Novo Polo, Virtus e Saveiro e Saveiro Cross.
Na fábrica de motores de São Carlos haverá a duplicação de sua linha de usinagem de virabrequins, de mil para duas mil unidades diárias. Além dessa ampliação, os investimentos também tiveram como foco a flexibilização das linhas de montagem de motores. A fábrica tem forte atuação na exportação de componentes. O Nivus surgiu do conceito New Urban Concept. Projetado e desenvolvido no Brasil, ele foi tão bem aceito na Volkswagen que será oferecido, após o início das vendas no País, na Europa e em outros mercados da VW.
A sua base é a modular MQB, mesma que dá origem a Polo, Virtus, T-Cross, Jetta e Tiguan, para citar apenas os modelos vendidos no País. Como Polo e Virtus e T-Cross, seus “irmãos” mais próximos, vai utilizar o motor 1.0 turbo.
Esse propulsor rende até 128 cv com etanol a 5.500 rpm e 20,4 mkgf a 2.000 rpm. O Nivus deve ser equipado apenas com o câmbio automático de seis marchas e, dependendo da versão terá apenas trocas pela alavanca ou também por meio de aletas atrás do volante.
A produção do Volkswagen Nivus ficará a cargo da fábrica Anchieta, de São Bernardo do Campo (SP), onde são produzidos Polo e Virtus. Entre os investimentos para a fábrica, estão novas prensas para aumentar a produtividade da planta que acabou de completar 60 anos de existência. Essa é a fábrica mais antiga da Volkswagen no País.

Exclusivo: Volkswagen Nivus é o nome do ‘SUV do Polo’
Volkswagen Nivus. Esse é o nome que a marca alemã escolheu para o ‘SUV do Polo’. O modelo é a versão final do conceito New Urban Concept e chegará às lojas no primeiro semestre de 2020. O SUV que terá pegada mais radical que o T-Cross, cuja proposta é mais familiar, foi desenvolvido pela Volkswagen do Brasil.
O conceito será exportado para outros mercados, e terá alcance global, já que é produzido sobre a plataforma modular MQB. Essa é a mesma base de Polo, Virtus e T-Cross, para citar os modelos produzidos no Brasil.
Pelo teaser é possível ver detalhes que são “comuns” a outros modelos da marca. As lanternas com grafismos internos de LEDs e ligadas por uma faixa preta, ao estilo da traseira do T-Cross. A queda da coluna C, pronunciada, remete também ao Atlas Coupe. Na dianteira, os faróis de neblina de LEDs são na posição vertical. A vw ainda não tinha usado em nenhum SUV atual até então essa configuração.

Volkswagen Nivus: motores e câmbio do Polo
Assim como a base para ser produzido, o Volkswagen Nivus terá a mesma mecânica aplicada nos irmãos Polo e Virtus. Isso representa a adoção do motor 1.0 de três cilindros, turbo, 12 válvulas, que rende até 128 cv a 5.500 rpm e 20,4 mkgf a 2.000 rpm.
Como as versões mais completas de Polo e Virtus, o Nivus deve contar apenas com o câmbio automático de seis marchas com opção de trocas manuais na alavanca ou por meio de aletas atrás do volante.

Carro Sedan: todas as opções do mercado
Muitos procuram na internet por um carro sedan, ficando na dúvida de quantos existem hoje no nosso país.
O mercado brasileiro tem atualmente 51 opções de carro sedan que podemos considerar dentro do segmento, mesmo que alguns tenham estilo bem próximo de um cupê, por exemplo.
Neste artigo, você vai conhecer estes modelos de carro sedan ofertados por aqui.
Em um passado recente, o mercado de sedãs no Brasil tinha uma variedade maior de produtos, mas atualmente menos de 51 podem ser encontrados no país.
O motivo da queda é a ascensão dos crossovers e SUVs, que tem colocado o segmento para baixo nos últimos anos.
Recentemente, o Brasil viu algumas baixas nesta categoria e deverá assistir mais nos próximos meses e anos. Só a Ford, por exemplo, deverá perder Focus Fastback e Fusion, isso porque já tirou de cena o New Fiesta Sedan no ano passado. Em compensação, se uns saem, outros entram.
O Volvo S60 de nova geração, por exemplo, chega no segundo semestre.
A Peugeot foi outra que tirou seu sedã médio, o 408.
Para piorar, podemos esperar apenas pelo Mercedes-Benz Classe A Sedan como um produto novo no segmento, já que os demais são apenas novas gerações dos modelos existentes, como no caso do sedã sueco, citado acima. O Chery Arrizo GX foi prometido, mas devido a essa situação de mercado, pode nem vir mais…
Em 2018, de acordo com a Fenabrave, o Brasil consumiu 539.795 sedãs em todas as categorias, desde o mais barato até os luxuosos.
No geral, o mercado absorveu 2.470.654 automóveis e comerciais leves. Isso significa 21,85% de participação no mercado geral. Foram 478.360 em 2017, alta de 12,84%.
Carro Sedan: todas as opções do mercado
Audi
A Audi é uma marca de luxo alemã que sempre teve foco nos sedãs. No mercado brasileiro, o A3 Sedan é o único nacional e espera por uma atualização de geração, partindo de R$ 125.990.
Já o atual A4 tem preços a partir de R$ 173.990 e aposta na força do motor 2.0 TFSI de 190 ou 252 cavalos.
O Audi A6 é o intermediário luxuoso que sempre mantém presença por aqui, começando em R$ 306.990, mas com motor 2.0 TFSI, embora ofereça versões V6 3.0 TFSI de 333 cavalos. O A8 deixou de ser vendido no Brasil.

Chery
Derivado do projeto mais antigos da Chery, o Arrizo 5 é um carro sedan de porte médio que é vendido com preço de compacto.
Mesmo assim, o modelo tem motor 1.5 Turbo de até 150 cavalos, além de câmbio CVT e pacote de equipamentos generoso.

Chevrolet
A General Motors sempre teve boa oferta de sedãs no Brasil e atualmente conta com três modelos, sendo o Prisma o mais em conta na versão Joy e com opções atualizadas.
O longevo motor SPE/4 1.0 ou 1.4 é de projeto antigo, mas isso não impede que o modelo seja o mais vendido do mercado.
Além deste, o Cobalt aparece como um compacto grandalhão com bom espaço interno e porta-malas generoso, tendo basicamente motor 1.8 de até 111 cavalos (também de projeto dos anos 80) e câmbio automático, este também presente no Prisma.
Por fim, o Cruze aposta na força do 1.4 Ecotec Turbo de até 153 cavalos.

Citroën

Ainda assim, tem no motor 1.6 THP de até 173 cavalos, seu principal argumento de venda, associado com câmbio automático de seis marchas.

Fiat 
A marca italiana desistiu do segmento médio e agora foca apenas nos compactos Grand Siena e Cronos, apesar de que o primeiro deva sair de cena ainda este ano ou mais tardar em 2020.
Nunca recebeu atualização e deve dar lugar ao mais recente, que tem motores 1.3 Firefly de até 109 cavalos e E.torQ Evo com até 139 cavalos. O irmão mais velho mantém o antigo Fire Evo 1.0 e 1.4.

Ford
A Ford está em uma situação complicada, que a levará à redução de portfólio com a manutenção de apenas um único modelo nesse segmento de carro sedan, o Ka Sedan, que tem motores 1.0 de até 85 cavalos e 1.5 com até 136 cavalos.
Isso porque o Focus Fastback, que tem motor 2.0 Duratec Direct de até 178 cavalos, sairá de cena. O Fusion tem motores 2.0 EcoBoost de 248 cavalos e híbrido 2.0 com até 188 cavalos. Este não deve passar muito de 2020.

Além dele, há o confortável Accord 2.0 VTC Turbo com 256 cavalos e câmbio automático de 10 marchas!

Hyundai

No caso do segundo, o sedã médio é importado ainda da Coreia do Sul e tem motor 2.0 Flex de até 167 cavalos.
