Which Raph do you prefer? 12? Bay? 03 or 07?

I really had to think about this, so sorry it so long to answer.

I grew up with 12. I like how he's protective of Mikey. He's also very expressive, and I love his romance with Mona.

I don't know much about 03, haven't watched a lot of that show. I like his tough guy act, and I feel like he's the main reason Raph's have a Brooklyn accent.

And Bay Raph is more different, keeping the key details. I love how his fighting with Leo is less 'I wanna be leader' and more thinking of things Leo doesn't, like Mikey's vote.

But I LOVE Raph in 07. It's an underrated movie. Along with becoming Nightwatcher, struggling with understanding and conveying his feelings, and genuinely wanting good for his brothers through Leo being gone... he's also left handed. Like, the designers of the movie CHOSE him to be left handed. So that's one of the things that puts him higher on the list.

Raph's awesome, in any version.

I’m curious if from the polls about favorite turtles if it looks like when Rise is not a factor that 2003 is sweeping (from what I can tell, it is).

Mostly when I just voted on the Mikey poll, I noticed that 03 was winning by a large margin. And since tumblr has such a HUGE Rise fan base present, how many of those Rise fans end up watching 2003 and also loving it.

Crimson’s hand tapped against his thigh rhythmically as he took a deep breath. He wouldn’t say that he was unhappy being here, watching this competition, but it was even harder than it usually was for him to forget his situation.

There were so many versions of himself and his family here, exact versions. Don- Cerulean said they were from “bifurcated time branches”. Whatever that meant. Most were younger, but some were closer to the family he knew. The one he left behind.

Smack!

His head shot up, eyes landing directly on a smiling Cerulean. He looked to where he was smacked at the top of his plastron and found a sticker that said ‘VOTE FOR GHOST’. He heaved another sigh. Well, the relative peace was nice while it lasted, he supposed.

“What is this?” He pointed to the sticker.

“That, my dear brother, is a sticker promoting one of the competitors. Turns out that ‘Ghost’ is a temporal variant of our young Donatello. As such, Mike and I entered us into the cul-… I mean.. club dedicated to this turtle and his kids.”

Crimson gave him the ‘Big Brother Look’, “Donnie… It’s not really a club, is it?”

Donnie made that guilty face that he always did when he was caught doing something he wasn’t supposed to. To his credit, though, he didn’t start sweating this time. Donnie opened his beak to defend himself, but was cut short by the newly-familiar voice of Don.

“Hey guys!”

The younger turtle was walking towards them, flanked by his brothers and wearing a cloak. He noticed Mike had a mischievous smile on his face. Oh boy. Were they sure he wasn't secretly a Leo?

When Don reached them, he flipped the hood up and flared the cloak. He was grinning almost ear to ear. “Guess who I am?”

Now that Crimson thought about it, he looked almost exactly like the turtle from all the posters. He chuckled and rubbed Don’s head affectionately.

“Hmm. Are you… that Emperor Palpatine guy?”

Mike and Raphie laughed while Lee tried to hide a giggle behind his hand. Don scowled and crossed his arms, but there was very little weight behind it. “Ha ha. Hilarious.”

Crimson gave him a pat on the shell, “You know I’m just messin’ with you, big guy. That is a pretty cool Ghost cosplay.”

“Also, those shorts are a nice touch, I must say. The foam must be very comfortable.” Cerulean added from beside him, sporting a slight smirk.

“Yeah. They are comfortable, act-… Foam?”

Don turned to the side and looked down, moving the cloak out of the way. Lo and behold, he was wearing a pair of purple shorts that had a foam butt. The words ‘GHOST CULT’ were printed on the backside.

Don stared flabbergasted for a moment before turning to Mike.

“When the shell did you give me ass shorts?!”

Mike bursted out cackling. Raphie gave Don an awkward and confused look.

“Donny. Bro. Did you seriously not notice?”

“No?!”

Mike tried to shuffle away, but Don caught him by the shell and started dragging him away. “You’re not getting away that easy, Mikey. Let’s see what kind of ridiculous clothes we can put you into.”

“Nooo… Don! It was a joke, come on!”

Since this au (Brains & Brawn 2^) was inspired by @amevello-blue’s Ghost in the Shell, I figured it’d make sense to make the boys part of the Ghost Cult.

The main gist of Brains & Brawn 2^ is that instead of dying in the apocalypse, Rise future Raph (Crimson) and future Donnie (Cerulean) got sent to the 03 dimension instead. Over time they become the big bros/uncles to their younger counterparts.

Anyways vote for Ghost in the Shell in the @tmntaucompetition!

*previous anon* um apologies i made a grammar mistake i mean because you ask us who we like best i meant who’s your favorite iteration of Donnie Raph Mikey and Leo.

Okay, this gets a bit hard to answer, because my favorites are split mostly between the 2003, and Rise versions.

Mainly because the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I watched was the 2003, and while I like 2012 but didn't get very into it.

But Rise got me back into TMNT, and sent me into a whole new TMNT obsession.

I have watched other iterations, but focus on these three.

And in my own polls I vote for favorites I either vote Rise or 03.

Though I can't fully choose who is my favorite, with the Casey one I chose CJ, with April 03, and I was caught between 03 and Rise for Leo, but went with Rise because I am more familiar with him now. (I thought I voted 03, but nope Rise)

As for Raph, Donnie, and Mikey?

Well it's a bit hard to choose with Mikey, because how do I chose between them!?

Donnie, well, I lean more to 03, canon 12... Rise Donnie is unhinged and love him, with the others I am not very familiar.

With Raph I love Rise the big Spikey Teddy, 12 is definitely very cool with how his story went, though all I focus on with 03 is the Brooklyn accent and the yo mamma moment.

The Donnies will get their turn after the Leos! It was actually decided in an instagram poll who would be next which is why the Leos appear in the Raphs comics. I’ve thought abt how after I finish all the turtles of doing the Splinters or the humans. Plus I’ve got ideas of various comics such as some interactions between 03 Leo and Rise Raph <3

(Inspired by a comic I read about something similar with 03 Donnie and Raph, I think it 03, I don't really remember)So she took away their weapons beforehand including Mikey's, seeing as how he always encourage the shenanigans. But she forgot that anything could be used as a weapon and nothing is going to stop those two)

(Bonus info- yes Master splinter is very aware of such competitions and tends to keep to the shadows and watch the chaos unfolded. (Mikey got her love for chaos from someone after all) and only steps in before someone get seriously hurt and no Lav is not aware of this fact, he normally leaves just before her episode ends and let her deal with them)

Mikey's Babysitting Service

Remember the "Raph gets cuddley when having a growth spurt" prompt? Remember you voted for the 03 turtles? I honestly have no timeline in mind, maybe tribunal or not.

Since meeting their older counterparts, Leon and his brothers found dealing with their problems a lot easier.

Leonardo was training them, well mostly Leo, in their training. Teaching them things that he had to learn from when he was younger.

Raphael was mostly helping them with their emotions, both surprising and not surprising. To the younger, it seems all Raph's they met were emotional…to his brothers he was defaulted to "angry".

Donatello was surprisingly the gentlest of the brothers, toning down their own Donatello and teaching them a few tricks. (Leo's Raph made a comment about him being similar to Todd.)

Michelangelo was one they'll hold near and dear, not because he's Mikey, but because he seems to understand them better than anyone. He was the one to let Donnie go batshit but let's him know about limits.

For himself he was introduced to his Superhero friends, encouraging him to continue his comic.

Mikey was ecstatic about having another big brother, one that didn't treat him like a baby and also gave him his brother's point of view.

But Leo had to be grateful for Big Mike's efforts to his Raph, the younger brothers knew he could be just as unhinged as them when he wanted but to see it happen so easily.

Raph isn't the type to cause mischief but Big Mike usually brings it out of him and sometimes talk to him.

This makes Big Mike the most trustworthy of his brothers, which led to Leo's current predicament.

Raph was going through a growth spurt, the nerve! Like 6'8 wasn't tall enough!

Well, Raphie gets spacy and cuddled when this happens, but his loving brothers have things to do so they can't enjoy his lovely cuddling.

Big Mike agreed to watch him, but unbeknownst to Raphie's brothers, he never made it to his destination.

"What do you mean Raph never made it!?"

It was dark and everything felt different.

Raph was aware he went through a portal but he was supposed to be with their uncle counterparts.

It smelled like they were close but they also smelled different, like anxiety and fear.

Something sharp scraped across his shell causing him to pause, "Alright dude! Prepared to get your shell kicked!"

Oh! Uncle Mike! He sounds a bit off, maybe he feels weird too?

"Wow! Hey!" 

"MIKEY!" 

Oh his other uncles were here, this seems like a good spot for a nap. Oh! Splinter is giving him scritches.

"Mikey, what did you do!?" Raph seems pissed but actually very scared for his little brother.

"I swear I did nothing! You saw him appear the same time I did! But can I say, I never knew turtles can pur."

The old rat approached the large figure holding onto his youngest son's waist, sure enough this turtle was purring.

There was no ill intent, and they seem quite young. Too young for the amount of scarring on their body.

Splinter scratched their head, smiling as the purring grew louder and they leaned into the touch.

Master Splinter watched as his son relaxed under the giant child and soon join in the gentle petting, "Aw, he's just a little guy."

"Mikey, I love you but there is nothing little about this guy." Donatello approached, looking at the mysterious giant turtle.

Raphael and Leonardo both kept their hands on their weapons but since Sensei wasn't frightened that meant they were okay for now.

Splinter stopped before turning towards a corner of the lair, "Whoever you are, reveal yourself!"

"Chill out Sensei, I'm just here to pick up baby Raph." Everyone turned to see Michaelangelo, but he was different than their youngest being cuddled.

This Mikey was bigger and obviously stronger, old scars become visible at his approach.

He stopped at the new turtle who seemed to accept with a higher pitch purr and immediately latched onto him faster than anyone could comprehend.

"Oof! Yes, Yes, Hi Raphie. Come on, time to go." Against anything the four younger turtles believe in, Big Mike hefted Raphie on his shoulder.

"How-!?" "Wow!" "Are we that strong!?" "Careful!"

Big Mike sat down with Raphie's head in his lap, "Alright bros, while I get my ride, how about I answer certain questions?"

"You called him Baby Raph, what with that?" Good ole Raph starting with the facts.

"Bros, the Multiverse is real! He's a different version of Raphael, he's currently fifteen years old and the oldest of his brothers. My Raph has adopted them and I have never seen him go this soft."

Raph didn't seem to believe him but Big Mike pulled out his phone for them to see a picture.

It was when Raphie first pranked Raph, nobody suspected him, and Leon and both Mikey's got chased and tickled into submission.

The picture was Raph holding Little Mikey and Leon by the waist and reaching for him with a relaxed grin on his face.

Splinter seemed to melt at the sight as his younger self and brothers looked surprised, "Nobody believed us that It was Raphie but it was too glorious of a prank."

Little Leo looked at Mikey with hope, "Do we…get to be happy?"

Mike smiled at his younger older brother and nodded, "It'll be hard, there will be bumps, but I'd say we're pretty happy."

Donnie tilted his head, "How strong is everyone, my legs hurt just looking at him."

Mikey laughed at that, "Heck yeah dude, all our training and other training pays off. It also helps to use Chi sometimes."

Splinter nodded but him and his brothers looked confused, he didn't elaborate.

Big Mike turned to his younger self, "Any questions mini me?"

"Yeah, how did we meet other versions of us?"

"Bro, not gonna lie, it's gonna happen to you guys soon with different versions of us and it won't stop. The first group is annoying, even by my standards…but they weren't all that bad. We meet a lot of us's, but these guys are the youngest so far…and the most powerful."

Mini joined him in petting Raphie as his brothers relaxed, "So why is he all sleepy? Is he hurt?"

"Oh! Nah, he's fine. According to Leon, he's going through a growth spurt and gets like this. Which is both funny and adorable, especially since he just lays on the ones he trusts the most. Don't worry Raph, he would have tackled you to the ground if he hadn't smelled me first."

Mike let out a laugh at everyone's shocked faces, "He's getting bigger!?" "Why does he need to get bigger!?" "Wait, if he's only fifteen, does that mean he'd be twice as big later!?"

A familiar cackle erupted from the corner startling even Master Splinter, "I'm glad I'm not the only one reacting as such. Hamato Leonardo at your service, ready to go Uncle Mike?"

Splinter looks over to Big Mike as he hefted the larger turtle again, "Their Splinter asked Leo personally to keep an eye on them when we travel dimensions. They've taken to calling him "Mom" as a joke and it's gotten to the point where he answers to it, it's hilarious."

Leon open the portal as Big Mike approached, Michaelangelo had one more question though.

"Do we defeat Shredhead!?" Big Mike only winked and walked through the portal with Leon right behind him.

The next day Raphie managed to grow two whole feet! Though, he was nervous about it, no one (aside from the Hidden City Police) treated him differently.

He was their Raphie after all.

Thank yoU! and i very much am proud of them all! And i'm still so damn shock over how well Dee did! I expected to loose with like 30% at best. Not take the lead for the first four-five hours and ultimately loose with 44%! (i should have known an au featuring 03 Raph and Rise Donnie would not go down without a fight lol.) But yeah! i'm so damn proud of them! : ) And am very happy with how it all ended up. Now i can sit back and watch the rest of the voting chaos in piece (mostly lol.)

Overall, 2003 and 2012 seem to be much more well-known than 1987 or mutant mayhem. 2003 is almost twice as popular as 2012. Something to keep in mind, though: my biases as the poll maker are bound to show, people who follow me are the ones likely to come across it, and I definitely post the most about tmnt 2003. That said, I probably post the second most about tmnt 1987.... I think the main thing we're seeing here is what we already know: 1987 is an older show that a lot of people haven't seen, and mutant mayhem is still pretty new, hasn't had time to capture hearts yet. Possibly in a perfectly unbiased poll 03 and 12 would be closer. This mainly shows us the 'bias' of the voting poll to help us analyze

Oh, look at that, 03 and 12 are closer. Very close in fact. There are less votes for favorite Leo than for fave tmnt, so possibly some 03 Leo lovers didn't vote in this one. With less votes the difference between MM and 87 shows a lot more clearly. One thing that's coming to my mind: anxiety and being a total goofball are traits of all these Leos, but 12 and MM leaned into it more explicitly, which I'm sure resonated with a lot of people.

Wow! 12 and 03 are even closer. And 87 juuuust beat MM. 87 Raphael is probably the most well-known even to those who haven't seen the show for his fourth wall breaks. 12 and 03 Raphs are probably the most similar to each other of any Raphs, so a tie makes sense. Keeping in mind the base of the first poll, though, and the number of votes being almost the same, it looks like 12 Raph won over some 03 fans. 12 does focus more directly on Raph's struggles, gives him some pretty significant angst arcs that he doesn't get in 03.

Donny takes more than half! My guess is 12's handling of the love triangle really didn't do 12 Donnie any favors here. The differences are also showing more starkly because of the lower number of votes. 03 is also a bit different in how based he is in Mirage, I mean with more focus on being the introspective turtle and a little less on being the reckless scientist. This definitely had to do with him being my favorite, and I was gonna say I'm surprised reckless scientists aren't more popular but again, we have to keep in mind my biases are bound to show in the data

Also I do just wanna say, 87 and 12 Donnie both have that gentleness and deep inner life as well, it just isn't as much the focus, if that makes sense

87 ties with 12! Exciting! Hm, in an interesting way I think my Donny bias is showing in the Mikey polls? Do you think a voting pool that so heavily favors 03 Don would also tend to favor Cinnamon Roll Michelangelo over Pranksters Michelangelos? I believe this is quite possible, especially since out of all of them, this poll had the smallest reach. Even so, 03 pulls ahead (voting pool does have a 50% 03 bias as well).

Some General Takeaways:

When rise wasn't there to vote for 03 took it's place as the one to beat. Rise does have a lot of parallels and ways it honors 03, thought it also does with 1987. I think we're seeing two things: Rise fans voting 03, and 03 being the runner up even in polls that include rise. Second biggest fan base

1987 is so underrated. It does have 10 seasons so it can be intimidating to get into. The good news is, I've never had trouble finding it on YouTube or Internet Archive. And, you don't have to go in order, it's monster-of-the-week style. I highly recommend it

Leo really stood out among the mutant mayhem turtles. He was very sweet with his bros! I am once again recommending 1987 if y'all like to see Leonardo loving his brothers so much and trying to be a cool leader while kinda knowing that he's a bit of a dork.
