Sneak Attack - a Vegebul ficlet.
As part of the D&D event hosted by @vegebulocracy, I have written a ficlet for the 1st day. The prompts were character sheet, sneak attack and dice. I chose the second.
It can also be read on AO3 here.
-----------
Vegeta did not like sneak attacks.
It wasn't just that they reminded him of the times in his youth where the Ginyu Force and others from Frieza’s band of sadistic warriors would sneak up on him and attack him with no chance to defend himself. He'd taken to wearing a scouter at all times from an early age.
Nor was it because he'd been ambushed countless times on his purge missions where the attackers’ low ki had made him miss them coming up behind him. It had earned him many wounds, most of them scarring because they healed before he got to a regeneration pod. But he easily obliterated his assailants with ease every time, something that didn't make him worry too much about these occurrences.
It wasn't even the nightmares about his past that would plague him on the nights where she stayed up late to walk and he went to bed alone because he kept to his routine. Those bad dreams were horrific, but he knew they would come.
No, his true dislike for being snuck up on started with the woman; as did many of the things that ruffled him on a daily basis.
At first, she had managed to sneak up on him when he'd found residence at the Capsule Cooperation compound. Her ki was ridiculously low, comparable to that of her father’s house cat, and he was therefore often unprepared when she suddenly showed up out of nowhere. And he didn't like to be unprepared for her because she was so utterly disarming that he would begin to stammer and bluster if he wasn't ready for the insults - or worse: her innuendos and flirtation - she threw at him.
He'd quickly learned to keep tabs on her location at all time, but this had quickly turned into a disadvantage as well. Because his awareness of her only fueled his unwilling yearning for her presence and he began to seek her out rather than avoid her.
Eventually, it was his own feelings for her that snuck up on him. It hit him harder than a coward's knife to his back and had caused him to flee into space to escape her metaphorical grasp on his heart.
Of course, he'd come back. He would have, whether or not the Androids had appeared; no matter if Kakarot was there for him to defeat. He came back because he wanted to be near him, even though he resolved to self denial to block out this apparent weakness.
But the feelings had returned at full force when she approached him after their future son left - fearlessly as the day of his resurrection where she had invited him to live with her - and reassured him that he had a place to stay if he decided to do so.
This turn of events shocked him more than any of her previous actions. He'd ignored her and their son, left them after an explosion to let them fall to their death and nearly caused the destruction of their planet because of his egotistical nature.
She kept her distance after the Cell Games and Kakarot’s death, at least emotionally, and his own longing to return to their past affair was a surprise to him. He pursued her - she made him pursue her - and her constant rebuffs threw him off course.
Until he one day woke to find his shivering body wrapped in her arms after a nightmare. She'd once again snuck up on him, this time to embrace and comfort him as she molted herself to his back. And he relished it.
Her intentional sneak attacks had started thereafter. She would hug or kiss him when he was entirely unprepared, sometimes even instigating more if the mood struck her.
For his sake, she kept it hidden from view. He was still uneasy in his life on earth and - despite his marriage to her, both by Saiyan and human traditions - he could now see that he never fully allowed himself to give in to her love, no matter how much he reciprocated it.
However, after his betrayal of her trust and his second chance to win her love - third if he was honest with himself - he relaxed more in their relationship and the affection she gave him.
And that's when the sneak attacks slowly began to weave their way into the life they led outside of their little private bubble. It irked him and he reprimanded her every time, even though his tantrums had no effect on her.
But what he disliked the most about her sneak attacks was that he didn't hate them or despise them. He actually did like them as much as they flustered him with intense embarrassment. And he enjoyed it when she openly gave him small affectionate gestures, unafraid of anyone's opinion on it, including his.
He also heavily disliked the natural aversive reaction he had to them. First nstilled by his father and later Nappa, he knew now from the Saiyans he'd since met that it wasn't normal for them to live apart from others. In fact, they were social creatures who needed the support from their fellow warriors. But he - and Raditz - had been taught differently, likely to harden them as preparation for the horrors of living under Frieza’s thumb. He could've used their attachments against them, had they had any.
Vegeta wished he could return the gestures of love that Bulma gave him without hesitation. He wished he could show the intense feelings he had for his children. But he could not, not fully.
Luckily, they accepted him and embraced him for who he was: a broken prince with nothing but his pride and his quiet affection for the family - yes, even friends - he'd formed on earth.
He'd never stop being thrown off balance when Bulma snuck up on him and touched him softly or even kissed him. He might even shy away as an instinctual reaction. But he would still cherish every time.
And in private, he would make his own sneak attacks; pulling Trunks into a sudden hug or throw Bra playfully into the air.
But Bulma? He would throw her over his shoulder and head to their bedroom, showing exactly how much he loved her.

Okay, as a penny collector, this is right up there with the weirdest shit I’ve ever seen.
For those who haven’t devoted their lives to pennies aren’t aware, pennies have certain markings to show things like where they were minted, when, and the artist. In the case of mint markings, there are three mint markings you’re going to find. For pennies from 1909-1955 and 1968-1974, you would find an S for the San Francisco mint, and ever since 1911, you would find a D for the Denver mint. For pennies from the Philadelphia mint, there is no mint marking. (With the exception of 1965-1967 pennies, which have no mint marking. The federal government was hoping that without mint markings, collectors would take fewer pennies out of circulation. For whatever reason, that idea didn’t last long.) Under no circumstances would you find... a P.
The pictured penny...
... has a P.
Now unless I missed some penny news, which is entirely likely, this penny... is an anomaly... a mistake... a strange mutant penny. And I unfortunately could not keep it, for I had to spend it on a printed copy of one of my stories that was $6.01.
(For those of you wondering, the previous “weirdest penny shit” was when I found a penny marked 1971-S, before I learned that after the no mint mark fiasco the feds reopened the San Francisco mint. I thought I was the holder of a rare penny, as in the case of the 1909-S VBD penny, of which only 500,000 were minted. Turns out, it was not a rare penny. I had just never seen one before. Turns out I have 5 1971-S pennies.)

A Gem of a Company!
(WM-CS Collab)
Tumblr media
A company owned by the Union Government of India, or one of the many state or territorial governments, or both is known as a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) or a Public Sector Enterprise. The government must own a majority stake in the company for it to become a PSU. All PSU‟s are divided into 2 categories – Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSEs) and State Level Public Enterprise (SLPEs). The Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) are established by the Government of India (GOI) as government companies under Section 617 of the Companies Act, and wherein the equity holding of the government is more than 50 per cent. The government provides certain PSUs with additional financial autonomy and comparative advantage to support them and enable them to compete in the global market.
As of 2010 the government has created three categories – Maharatna, Navratna, and Miniratna under which well performing PSU’s is categorized based on if and how they satisfy certain qualifications as ascribed by the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. This categorisation entitles the company boards to undertake investment decisions up to a limit (depending on the status) without seeking government permission.
The investment benefits for various categories are as mentioned below:
• Maharatna: Companies can take investment decisions up to Rs. 1,000 crore – Rs. 5,000 crore or 15% of their net worth in a project.
• Navratna: Companies can take investment decisions up to Rs. 1,000 crore or 15% of their net worth on a single project or 30% of their net worth in the whole year.
• Miniratna-I: Companies can take investment decisions up to Rs. 500 crore or equal to their net worth, whichever is lower.
• Miniratna-II: Companies can take investment decisions up to Rs. 300 crore or up to 50% of their net worth, whichever is lower.
The following are the criteria that must be met to attain the status of a Ratna:
Miniratna: Miniratna Category I: The CPSE should have made profit in the last three years continuously, the pre-tax profit should have been Rs. 30 crore or more in at least one of the three years and should have a positive net worth.
Miniratna Category II: The CPSE should have made profit for the last three years continuously and should have a positive net worth.
These CPSE will have enhanced delegated powers provided they meet the following eligibility conditions and criteria:
• They have not defaulted in the repayment of loans/interest payment on any loans due to the government.
• These public sector enterprises shall not depend upon budgetary support or government guarantee.
• The boards of these CPSEs should be restructured by inducting at least three non-official directors as the first step before the exercise of enhanced delegation of authority.
• The administrative ministry concerned shall decide whether a public sector enterprise fulfilled the requirements of a Category I/Category II company before the exercise of enhanced powers.
Navratna:
• The entity must have Miniratna Category – I status along with Schedule „A‟ listing.
• At least three „Excellent‟ or „Very Good‟ Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ratings during the last five years.
• The PSU must have a composite score of 60 or above out of the possible 100 marks in the six selected performance parameters, namely :-
a. Net Profit to Net Worth
b. Manpower Cost to Cost of production or services
c. Gross Margin as capital employed
d. Gross Profit as Turnover
e. Earnings per Share
f. Inter-Sectoral Comparison based on net profit to net worth
Maharatna:
• The company already has Navratna status and has global presence.
• It is listed on Indian stock exchange with minimum prescribed public shareholding under SEBI regulations.
• Average annual turnover of more than Rs. 25,000 crores, during the last 3 years.
• Average annual net worth of more than Rs. 15,000 crores, during the last 3 years.
• Average annual net profit after tax of more than Rs. 5,000 crores, during the last 3 years.

·       Maharatna: Companies can take investment decisions up to Rs. 1,000 crore – Rs. 5,000 crore or 15% of their net worth in a project.
¡       Navratna: Companies can take investment decisions up to Rs. 1,000 crore or 15% of their net worth on a single project or 30% of their net worth in the whole year.
¡       Miniratna-I: Companies can take investment decisions up to Rs. 500 crore or equal to their net worth, whichever is lower.
¡       Miniratna-II: Companies can take investment decisions up to Rs.
¡       They have not defaulted in the repayment of loans/interest payment on any loans due to the government.
¡       These public sector enterprises shall not depend upon budgetary support or government guarantee.
¡       The boards of these CPSEs should be restructured by inducting at least three non-official directors as the first step before the exercise of enhanced delegation of authority.
¡       The administrative ministry concerned shall decide whether a public sector enterprise fulfilled the requirements of a Category I/Category II company before the exercise of enhanced powers.
Navratna:
·       The entity must have Miniratna Category – I status along with Schedule „A‟ listing.
·       At least three „Excellent‟ or „Very Good‟ Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ratings during the last five years.
¡       The PSU must have a composite score of 60 or above out of the possible 100 marks in the six selected performance parameters, namely :-
a.      Net Profit to Net Worth
b.     Manpower Cost to Cost of production or services
c.      Gross Margin as capital employed
d.     Gross Profit as Turnover
e.      Earnings per Share
f.      Inter-Sectoral Comparison based on net profit to net worth
Maharatna:
¡       The company already has Navratna status and has global presence.
¡       It is listed on Indian stock exchange with minimum prescribed public shareholding under SEBI regulations.
¡       Average annual turnover of more than Rs. 25,000 crores, during the last 3 years.
¡       Average annual net worth of more than Rs. 15,000 crores, during the last 3 years.
¡       Average annual net profit after tax of more than Rs. 5,000 crores, during the last 3 years.

Kojimania Runnin’ Wild Edition -- NJPW Strong Episode 42 - 6/4/2021; Kojima In-Ring Debut In Impact 6/3/2021
Tumblr media
Last night’s episode of NJPW Strong saw the first night of the Road to Ignition series of shows, plus the NJPW Strong debut of Satoshi Kojima.
TJP [FREE] d. Kevin Knight (Cobra Twist, 6:27)
Barrett Brown d. Adrian Quest (Roll Up, 10:36)
Satoshi Kojima & Karl Fredericks d. JR Kratos & Danny Limelight [Team Filthy] (Fredericks > Limelight, Half-Crab, 10:43)
Kojima was the feature in the main event, but Fredericks gets the win over Team Filthy on the way to his challenge of “Filthy” Tom Lawlor for the NJPW Strong Openweight title. Kojima and Kratos brawled post-match, so I expect more to come from that. Brown beats his former partner Quest, but whilst Brown came out with ROH’s Bateman, Fred Rosser offered an alliance to Quest backstage. Assuming a tag match is coming for this feud then.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, on Thursday night, Koji’s in-ring debut in Impact Wrestling was featured as the main event of this week’s TV episode. He faced Cody Deaner, the Violent By Design stablemate of Kojima’s opponent next Saturday at the Against All Odds PPV event, Joe Doering. It was a pretty one-sided affair, with Kojima dispatching Deaner pretty handily, and even got some help from Eddie Edwards against VBD’s interference. This match will be up on NJPWWorld soon enough, I’m sure. Not sure what Kojima has in store for next week’s go-home episode for the PPV.

This study suggests vitamin D and B vitamins may be necessary for reshaping the gut microbiota in overweight individuals.
PMID:  Int J Food Sci Nutr. 2020 Apr 14:1-9. Epub 2020 Apr 14. PMID: 32283946 Abstract Title:  Vitamin B and vitamin D as modulators of gut microbiota in overweight individuals. Abstract:  Growing evidence indicates that vitamin B (VB) and vitamin D (VD) are associated with the development of obesity. The effects of supplemental dietary VB and VD on the gut microbiota of obese individuals are still largely unknown. In the present study, 997 normoweight (NW) and 773 overweight (OW) samples were screened from the American Gut Project. The microbialι-diversity was not affected by VB, VD or VB combined with VD (VBD) supplementation in the normoweight population or the overweigh population. VD significantly modulated 20 gut microbial metabolic pathways in NW. Moreover, VBD supplementation significantly affected 3 phyla and 3 families and 22 pathways in the OW gut microbiota. In summary, our results highlight that VD and VBD might be necessary for reshaping the gut microbiota in NW and OW, respectively.

Here are some answers sent from our e-newsletter readers to Editor Dave Harper.
This is an excellent question. There is much to commend Morgan dollars: availability at all price points including Mint State examples; the size of the coin; and its place in history. Lincoln cents are an excellent starting point for new collectors. They are readily available in circulation. Wheaties are harder to find but affordably available from most coin stores. Key dates will always command a premium, but the remainder are attainable in pleasing condition. Among adults, Morgan dollars may be top. Among children and overall collectors, it is hard to beat the Lincoln cent.
Timothy Scharr Aviston, Ill.
Yes, the Lincoln cent used to be near the top of the pile. The Morgan dollar is now a leader on the boards. This is primarily due to 50 years of financial change and interest. In all fairness, having a few cents in one’s portfolio is good. A few rare dates and conditions are all that is needed. Be selective to your own needs.
Gary Kess Sherman, Texas
No! Show me one collector that didn’t start with a penny collection and I’ll show you an 1804-S silver dollar!
Ken Freeze Martinez, Calif.
Budget-minded collectors and newbies to the hobby initially lean more towards collecting lower-denomination Lincoln cents, whereas the Morgan dollar series is quite popular among collectors who have ample monetary resources.
Sam Lukes Visalia, Calif.
Given that a lot of Lincolns cost a cent, and Morgans cost at least the price of silver, I am guessing that the cheaper ones are more popular, especially as an entry into the hobby. I have a few Morgans but lots of the cents, mostly elongated ones.
Bob Fritsch Nashua, N.H.
Two of my favorite coins! I think for the simple cost and availability of Lincolns vs. Morgans that the Lincoln cents will beat out the Morgans. The Lincoln cents are a great gateway into coin collecting for new numismatists, but you can’t beat that heft and sheer beauty of a Morgan!
Tony Brubaker Maryland
Yes. You can’t buy a dollar’s worth of anything with just a cent.
Max Stucky Colorado Springs Colo.
I love Morgans, but I believe that the pennies will take over big time. That is my opinion.

I think Morgans are more popular than any other coin.

Lincoln Cents will always be more popular among children and beginning collectors. The coins are generally inexpensive, affordable, and easy to find. Higher-grade Lincoln Cents are beautiful coins that even the most advanced collector will acquire. A complete Lincoln collection is usually the first major accomplishment of a collector.
Morgan Dollars have become less collectible and less affordable as prices have risen in recent decades. The cost to put a complete set together is beyond the reach of most collectors. The best most collectors can hope for is a partial set. The coins are beautiful works of art and will always be popular.
Right now, the Lincoln Cent collector is in the lead for the number of collectors. Morgan Dollars are in the lead for total dollars spent to build a collection. Collectors of both series are winners in hobby enjoyment.
Bruce R. Frohman Modesto, Calif.
I think that Lincoln cents will always be at or near No. 1 on everybody’s list. I have been collecting Lincoln cents on and off for the last 50 years.

I think the Lincoln cent holds a special place in all collectors’ hearts. Generally speaking I believe most everyone started off saving pennies. As we expanded our minds and collections in the hobby, Morgans eventually gained popularity.
I’ll bet there is an album or two of Lincoln cents, long forgotten in an attic or basement, that contains a copper 1943 penny just waiting to be discovered.
A 94 year-old neighbor asked me last year to inventory her 3,000 pennies from an old shoe box. I didn’t find the 1943 copper cent, but I did come up with a couple of 1922 No “D” gems, as well as three very nice 1955 double-die obverse cents.
Lincoln cents will always remain dear to all of us collectors.
Morgans are great coins to collect. For sentimental and childhood nostalgic reasons, though, the cent wins my vote.

Morgan dollars have always been the king of collectibles in my opinion. Started as a youth with Lincoln cents in the early 60s. My dad would bring home a $50 bag on Fridays to sort through on weekends to fill our Whitman’s. Morgans came later for us as money became a little better.
My money is on the Lincoln cent, although I believe the Morgan dollar is a beautiful coin and I continue to add to my set when possible.
Yesterday, after I read your column in the paper copy of Numismatic News about your friend who completed a coin set, the last three Lincoln pennies I needed (1909-S VBD, 1914-D and 1922 No “D”) arrived in the mail. It was a great feeling to finally complete a set I started in 1957. Such fond memories of taking my lawn-cutting/snow-shoveling money to the bank on Fridays and getting rolls of pennies and then the thrill of going through them and finding pennies to fill my folders.
I also think you are correct about the cycle of coin collecting. I look back over my experiences, and they fit your timeline perfectly.

Yesterday I followed Think Particles steps. He has an amazing tutorial about VBDs, really easy to get into. The class is about Decay geometry but I got amazed at the different kind of parametric designs you can create with VDBs. I wonder if I can 3D print this obj with no problem. This Volume came up as an 800mb Obj file, my GTX1060 6gb kinda struggled with it when in substance.  I generated several textures for it, the purple ones are Matra Wax material rendered with SSS, testing different render parameters to get rid of the noise. The more colored textures are generated with Substance Painter. I also struggle with the Uv mapping of it, I used a polar mapping but it did not work for the complete model, some areas have strange distortions and as this is a VDB to polygon we don’t have quads to properly Cut the geometry. Once I find a better solution I will share it with you all :D I also tried to transfer the UV from the original sphere to the final one but it wasn’t good as the one generated with the converted VDB.
I Can finally say that I’m understanding the concept of transferring attributes inside Houdini, so cheers to that and thanks to Think Particles!
