Wpływ technologii V-sync na gry

Gry wideo mają coraz więcej ustawień graficznych, które są niezrozumiałe dla części graczy. O ile niemal każdy wie, czym jest RayTracing, to wiele osób nie ma pojęcia o V-sync. Co to jest i jak wpływa na gry?

Krótki opis technologii V-sync

V-sync definiuje się jako dopasowanie liczby FPS (klatek na sekundę) generowanych przez komputer do częstotliwości odświeżania monitora. Takie rozwiązanie sprawia, że karta graficzna nie przekracza określonej wartości FPS.

Zadaniem V-sync jest zażegnanie problemu związanego z różnicą FPS generowanych przez komputer (kartę graficzną), a tą odbieraną przez monitor. Wystąpienie tego zjawiska można rozpoznać poprzez rozdarcie ekranu, czyli mieszanie się wyświetlanych obrazów z gry. Taka sytuacja ma miejsce, gdy monitor nie jest w stanie nadążyć za kartą graficzną, a w efekcie wyświetla dwie klatki jednocześnie.

Problem dotyczy przeważnie użytkowników mocnych kart, którzy mają monitory o niskiej częstotliwości odświeżania. Zjawisko tearingu widoczne jest także podczas grania w starsze gry.

V-sync nie takie idealne

Niestety technologia V-sync, chociaż częściowo rozwiązuje problemy graczy, to jednocześnie przysparza kilku nowych. Najpoważniejszym problemem jest zmniejszenie wydajności i płynności gier. Jest to szczególnie istotne w przypadku tytułów stawiających na dynamiczną akcję.

Zmniejszenie wydajności przez technologię V-sync spowodowane jest dwoma mechanizmami: – obniżenie generowanych klatek do parametrów częstotliwości odświeżania monitora, – synchronizacja generowania klatek z procesem odbierania ich przez monitor.

Oba te mechanizmy przyczyniają się do spowolnienia GPU, a także sprawiają, że monitor nie wyświetla części klatek wygenerowanych przez procesor karty graficznej. W takiej sytuacji może nie wyświetlić się najświeższa pozycja przeciwnika, celownika czy dowolnego innego elementu gry. Jest to popularny input lag, który od lat irytuje graczy.

Drugą poważną wadą, z jaką związana jest funkcja V-sync, jest sprawienie, że procesor karty graficznej wygeneruje mniej klatek, niż wynosi częstotliwość odświeżania monitora. Zjawisko to występuje w bardziej skomplikowanych scenach, a skutkiem jest dość drastyczny spadek FPS.

To wszystko w połączeniu ze zmienną wydajnością kart graficznych w grach sprawia, że przez V-sync tytuł działa nierówno. Może również sprawić, że niektóre klatki będą wyświetlały się dłużej, niż powinny (zjawisko nazywane stutteringiem).

Jak uniknąć wad technologii V-sync?

V-sync nazywane jest również synchronizacją pionową, a w tym miejscu pojawia się dobra wiadomość. Coraz więcej gier oferuje bardziej zaawansowaną wersję V-sync, a NVIDIA i AMD częściowo rozwiązały te problemy wdrażając nowe funkcje: – NVIDIA – Adaptive VSync i Fast Sync – AMD – Enhanced Sync

Nie ulega jednak wątpliwościom, że jest jedna wyjątkowo skuteczna metoda pozbycia się problemów związanych z V-sync. Jest to korzystanie z technologii G-sync oraz FreeSync. Warto zwrócić na to uwagę przy wyborze swojego sprzętu gamingowego, ponieważ nie każdy monitor obsługuje te funkcje.

todays @v@ arc was fully cinema. almost all the way through. my favorite scene though was when they were in the office, talking to it, at the end. when @v@ said they would start with dapper. that they were gonna kill dapper. q!bagi’s slow turn to q!bad to shakily confirm to him that he’s saying @v@ is gonna kill his kid. the silent staring from q!bad as he looks to @v@, in shock for the next couple of seconds. q!tubbo at the same time desperately messaging q!bad, trying to get confirmation to attack, to kill, holding back until he gets a signal. the silent confirmation as soon as @v@ got up out of their chair where both q!bad and q!tubbo pull out their weapons ready to kill

I made some Pokémon Vanguard sync pairs

I made this one before the others😅. That’s why it has characters from the other seasons before I decided to just do the og series for this post. It will be awhile before I do DivineZ because I want to see how the full story goes before deciding.

As for Aichi owning a Hydriegon I just thought it was funny 🤣. He has the nicest Hydriegon you will ever meet. It’s an absolute golden retriever of a Pokémon. Unless you mess with Aichi then it will decide that peace was never an option and rip your throat out.

It wasn’t until I was mid making these sync pairs that my brain realized that the Four Treasures of Ruin are perfect for the Quatre Knights.

I’ll eventually get to the rest of the post-og sync pairs.

Road Trip 1/4 🏙️

Kerry: "Fuck, couldn't even tell ya when the last time was I went on a road trip." V: "Never been on one at all." Kerry: "... you kiddin'?" V: "Well, I guess you could count that half year I worked as a roadie. But that was more work than fun." Kerry: "If you're travelling with a band and don't've stories of wild escapades to tell on day two you're doing somethin' wrong." V: "That so?" Kerry: "Okay... lemme tell ya a story..."

I recently talked about how I love imagining Kerry and Vince on a long-ish road trip together, telling stories, absentmindedly holding hands, just enjoying the scenery and getting away from NC for a little while. And starting arguments with random radio DJs about old songs xD I bet Kerry has many stories to tell not only about his Samurai times but also his own tours and the shenanigans he went up to. Even Vince has a handful of travel stories to share, although he's not nearly as far-travelled as Kerry.

Where are they headed here? Not as important as they way to get there...

I went over this paring a bit more in my arcvmonth post, but thanks to a fellow creator on here, I really like this specific dynamic of RebelFamilyShipping. Shun and Ruri have absolutely no interest in eachother other than being family (of course) they just really love Ute and both want to be with him.

This drawing takes place pre war because I wanted to draw them happy.

as a guy who’s been using delta for like two years on and off when it was really annoying to keep up with (had to install smth on your computer called alt server, which could download an app called altstore on your phone when synced to pc, which you could then download delta thru, and you had to refresh the apps every week) i have to say the official version of it is really fantastic to have
