I watched Uzumaki: Spiral Into Horror for the first time, so I suppose that is fitting for Halloween.

Not familiar with Junji Ito outside of random things I've seen online, but I can't say I wasn't captivated by the artwork. The story not as much for me, but the art and subsequent horror aspect kept me engaged by itself.

Just finished uzumaki: spiral into horror (the manga/collection) and I have many thoughts.

Gonna reread it over the next two weeks until I have to return it, just to get some more understanding.

But I think— lukewarm take here— the spiraling is not only the metaphysical elements of the spirals curse but also the spiraling emotions. From obsession to madness the emotions grip those affected from the spiral and tear their lives apart, causing them to spiral.

Idk tho. It’s not that creepy imo, definitely has striking imagery but it’s more of a psychological thing for me.

I dunno, just imagine evreyone in your community is slowly being afflicted with a curse and the world around you shapes to further decimate your understanding of what life is.
