4. Favourite female television character of all time?

I will surprise nobody and say Caroline Elizabeth Forbes. I just love, her storyline, her relationships, and her show(s).

5. Favourite male television character of all time?

I have such a hard time to pick faves with male characters. It always changes, lol. But I am going to go with Jim Lake Jr for now. Amazing male lead, verse and mythos that I love to piescies and his romance is better and better by the season (or show xDD)

6. Favourite television show of all time?

Almost all shows have some downsides for me. Either I appreciate them and understand them on deep levels but I am not really that emotionally invested in them, either the opposite. I am going to say Buffy the Vampire Slayer because it kinda falls nicely in the middle and watching it is like drinking sunshine, lol. I mean, I do have problems with it (Xander, forever Xander), I am mostly very pleased AND entertained by all their stoeylines.

11. Favourite character on favourite television show?

Buffy Anne Summers, no contest. From the amazing actress to the unique and complex Slayer-storyline she has, Buffy holds my undived attention xD.

A Gargoyles duty

Ask: I'm not entirely sure how gargoyles work but I had an amusing dream last night where I hc-ed that they have double a troll lifespan due to ‘freezing’ when in the sleeping stone state, so the troll crew taking an agitated elder gargoyle(!reader?) to troll market only for them to brighten up when they see Vendel- the little whelp they used to watch over for his family- all grown up and a leader. Unperceived Shenanigans ensuing. Imagine how the others would react 😂

Ask: Hey I had a thought, back where I come from Gargoyles have certain myths around them: the one my Grandpa used to tell us was on how they could be tethered to buildings or people and that’s why you’d find some where they didn’t belong, and they lose themself/become feral to protect their tethered until they ‘break’; so imagine trollhunter co. Finding a Gargoyle!reader tethered to something or by someone after the troll crew has already met and been helped by them before or even as a first meeting? (Was tethered to Vendel years ago before they got seperated)

~ Vendel is laughing. Vendel can do that?! Everyone is in shock as they watch this old but spry gargoyle hug Vendel nearly in tears.

~ His happiness suddelny turns to blunt anger and surprise.

"You dragged an old gargoyle down in troll market?!" He demands. The kids worriedely nod. He frowns but signs. "Well we might as well show my dear friend (Y/N) around." He pats your shoulder. "It's been to long." He states and the kids are in awe. He seems so happy.

~ Once your given the tour and Vendel buys you a beer (maybe two) as you chat you decide to stay in Trollmarket.

~ The kids come in just as you unfreeze from stone and they all become worried. Jim asks is you got snipped by creepers sun. Toby is frantically checking for any cuts or nips that may be infected from the poison and Claire hugs you asking if your alright.

~ You smile and gently pat her hair down. They all remind you of previous families you once protected. "I'm fine. I'm fine. Let me explain." You state. Once they've learned of gargoyle biology and how you freeze up during the day they have so many questions.

~ Being a curious gargoyle yourself you ask them questions as well and they do they're best to answer. Soon your all very well acquainted qnd have decided these are your new charges that you will protect.

~ Your awake for twelve hours and turned to stone for the other twelve. So you give eqch kid four undived hours of your attention. Unless their in a group then your just a mama bird spoiling her babies.

~ Vendel snorts when he hears who your new charges are. "Of course you'd adopt the human hunter and all his friends." He teases. You just smack him with your tail making tge old goat man laugh harder.

~ Your first job as protector you decide is that these kids get to live a lil more. You make them a schedule where they can sleep at least six hours a day and on weekends the daytime is there's to sleep while the night is to train and to prepare. You have an hour tutoring time with each kid and in that hour you get all their homework done so they understand their school work. You also make sure they're eating enough and get plenty of water. You cook soups from long forgotten recipes and making them tarts and turn overs as treats. They're all healthier and stronger than ever making you a proud gargoyle.

~ Claire looks up too you as a second mother once she got to know you. In her private time with you she tells you her worries and insecurities about being a trollhunter / sorceress in training. You smile wrapping your wings around her as you hum and stroke her hair to soothe her. You tell her you can't promise that being a TrollHunter will be any easier but you promise you'll be there for her every step of the way and that she always has you to talk too. She hugs you tightly and smiles. She begins to call you My Other Mother in Gargoyle once you teach her the language and it makes you wanna cry in happiness.

~ Jim wishes his mother could help him, that she could see him now but after the binding spell and her forgetting he thinks it's better that she doenst know. You say it's his decision and you support him but you feel bad for the boys mother and hope Jim will tell her someday. He likes to go with you outside and just talk. He feels like he can kust be a normal teenager for ten seconds when he talks to you. And it feels nice.

~ You help Toby collect rocks and give him some old ones that you've been carrying for some years. You talk about the centuries that have past you and the adventures you've had. He loves it. He loves hearing about trolls being the center of attention and having a mom again. He calls you his rock mom and you always smile. You swear to protect these kids forever.

~ Arrrgh and Blinky love that Claire and the boys have a mother figure that they can talk to about this secret life with and that they have a tough female to protect them. You three become great friends and they're glad they decided to bring you to Trollmarket that one night.

~ Vendel is still aspirated that you've adopted three humans as your charges at such an old age but he having been your charge once can't say much. He's glad to see you so happy and see the kids so energized thanks to your guidance. He missed his crazy gargoyle angel and now here you are continuing your traditions. He couldn't be happier and tye rest of Trollmarket couldn't shine brighter thanks to you.

The Blessings of crazy times Picture this – a young father walking leasurely, in ther hours of the morning, near a green field with his sweet 1.4 year old daughter. The father gives his undevided attention to his child. He allows her to explore, to climb a rock, watches her so she wont fall, but allows her to experience the sweet empowering taste of independence. They smile to each other, they smile at a flower or a little stone she finds in her stroll…I approach this sweet dyad. I have seen them many times before in the passing weeks. I share with the father my rejoice of this father-child interaction. He tells me – it’s all thanks to the pandemic. This could never have happened before. I thought i was an involved father. I work in Hi-tech, i used to work from morning till night. I thought i saw my girl. I did’nt know it could be different – i now work from home, and i understand what i have been missing… I thank these times with all their craziness – i have won moments with my daughter that never come back…I commend him on this undevided attention – no i-phone in sight – he says, yes, i know, this is thanks to my wife… Last but not least – he tells me there is a change about – fathers who are now interviewing for jobs ask for better terms – being able to come home at an earlier time a few times a week, in order to be with their children. Again – rejoicing!!! I have been a school psychologist for 20 years now, and i have seen the enormous effect of the lack of parent-child times – due to long work hours, especially in Hi-tech… I told him how sad i always was to hear that only divorced fathers can leave work early twice a week inorder to pick up their kids from school. Which AU, in your opinion, is the WORST?

((Well, to be honest, AU’s shouldn’t be judged from good to bad or at all. It takes a lot to design ANYTHING and put it out there for the world to see.

HOWEVER, having said that... there are some things that I am turned OFF to in terms of AU’s...

• Unoriginality

• AU’s created JUST to make a SANS

          • AU’s with very little story put into them (kinda ties in with the JUST to              make a SANS thing)

• Abandoned AU’s

         • AU’s created just to create them so no one else can, and then            abandoned because the AU maker decided to make more.

         • AU’s that are TOO similar to another (ie. Swapfell and Fellswap) where it            causes SO MUCH confusion that there have been heated debates about            them... I STILL don’t know which is which and I’ve been told which one            is which multiple times

• “Undercooked” AU’s (generally AU’s that don’t have designs for the entire cast of Undertale characters... I know it’s a lot of work, but creating an AU IS a lot of work... don’t just design a Sans and Papyrus and think you’re done... keep going!!)

• AU’s that are vague but the creator gets angry when interperated incorrectly

         • Picky/Mean Creators are a big turn-off to me. Undertale is a wonderful            loving community of talented and amazing people, whether they be            popular or not... and the ones that get mean or picky about their AU or a            particular AU completely ruin the experience for me. Once again turning            to the example of Fellswap and Swapfell. However confusing they were            to me, I wanted to give them a chance because someone put the time            and effort into creating them. But when SOME people started making a            big deal and being MEAN about the AU’s I was completely turned-off to            the two AU’s.

However I’m not particularly fond of Underswap either, that’s just my own personal thing. Blueberry annoys the everliving whoozits outta me. In my opinion he’s so incredibly fake with how he acts it’s painful to watch. But of course, that is my own opinion... I still think it’s well drawn and I’m 100% in love with the fact that they were brave enough to be almost one of the first AU’s created. That’s bravery!! But it’s just not my cup-o-tea

A lot of people have said they hate MY AU. Specifically because Blackberry and Delta don’t get along. They like it when the Sans and Papyrus have an undying connection with one another... but that’s WHY I made my AU the way I did. I wanted it to be different... they can’t touch, they hate each other, one is super tol the other is super smol, there is no ROMANCE... not even between Alfish and Undive... because they live in a constant state of fear.

But to each their own! So sorry, Anon. There is no AU that I think is the WORST... lol they’re all pretty amazing on their own levels. There are some I wouldn’t personally get into, but they’re not the worst. Just not my thing!))

Onstage With My Idol: A Nurseshipping Oneshot

Here’s the last piece of fic I’m writing for @yu-ri-oh‘s YGO Femslash Week. The prompt for Day 7 (aka AU Day #2) was “idol”. 

The songs Mai sings in the fic are “Doll” by Scandal  (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2j1yx9) and “Hitohira no Hanabira” by Stereopony (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYV-XJdzupY). And the request Mai makes during the second song is inspired by an actual thing that happened at the last concert I went to lol

Shizuka sat in the front row seat her brother had spent weeks gambling to get her tickets to as a birthday present.  She was so excited, but also nervous. She was finally going to see The Harpies live!

They were her favorite band. She had a poster of the lead singer, Kujaku Mai, on her wall in her bedroom at home. She would never admit it to anyone, but sometimes she would talk to the poster when she was feeling discouraged. She would tell Paper Mai about her worries for her brother’s safety, as he was living  across town with her father, or her fears about her rapidly worsening eyesight. She would imagine Mai telling her reassuring things in that warm, sultry tone of voice she always used in interviews. Now, she was finally going to meet real Mai. Her heart was pounding.

Suddenly, the lights went up, and the drummer, a girl with short, spiky, blue hair, took the stage. The fans squealed as the guitarist, a girl with long, pink hair, joined her. Next was the bassist, whose orange bangs fell into her face as she raised her instrument proudly, ready to play. The crowd’s cries turned into a deafening roar as, finally, the one they’d all been waiting for, Mai herself, appeared.

“Aaaaaah!” Shizuka screamed right along with them, unable to contain her emotions. She almost forgot about the single rose she’d purchased from a street vendor on her way to the show. With a determined expression, she threw it onto the stage. She expected that it would probably simply fall at Mai’s feet. If Mai glanced at her for a second because of it, that would be enough for her.

Instead, Shizuka’s jaw dropped as Mai caught the rose in one manicured hand.

“Thanks, sweetheart!” Mai winked directly at Shizuka, and threw her a saucy grin, as well, before she shouted to the crowd, “Good evening, Domino City! I hope you’re having a great time tonight! We are…..THE HARPIES!”

Shizuka almost fainted from sheer fangirl joy. She tried not to fall back into her seat as Mai began to sing:

Koisuru otome wa utsukushii to iu shoumei dekinai genjitsu

Akogare idaiteru bakari atashi kirei ni kazarareta doll

Shizuka loved this song, “Doll,” more than anything. When the stress of family fights and doctor appointments stretched her nearly to her breaking point, dancing around her room to this song always made her feel a little better. When Mai sang it, she sounded so fearless.  That was the kind of woman Shizuka wanted to be.

When the song reached its chorus, Shizuka screamed the words she knew by heart along with all the other fans: “ATASHI MOTTO!  ASONDE MOTTO! AISARETAI WAAAAA…..”

Shizuka found herself dancing in her seat, really getting down and not caring what anyone else thought. It was a complete 180 from her normal, insecure, quiet self. That was simply the effect The Harpies had on her.

“Alright!” Mai announced. “During this next song, I want somebody in the front row to do a stagedive – otherwise, I’ll have to do it myself!”

Stagedive? Shizuka thought nervously. Who would have the nerve to do that? It would have to be somebody in the front row, right? Nobody else is close enough to jump on the stage long enough to jump off it…..

Whoever did it, Shizuka realized, would remember this night for the rest of their life.

But, it can’t be me, right? she thought uncertainly. She looked at the other people in the crowd, waiting for somebody to take action as Mai began the next song on The Harpies’ setlist:

Hitohira no hanabira ga yureteiru

boku no tonari de ima

She thought some brave soul would do it during the opening lines, but, instead, the stage remained undived as Mai continued to sing:

machigatta koi datta

sonna koto omoitaku wa nai

Would Mai, in fact, have to do the dive herself? Was there really nobody brave enough?

Well, you’re not brave enough, either, Shizuka reminded herself. No! she decided. The Harpies always gave her the courage to do things she would normally be too chicken to. Why should tonight be any different? Shizuka wanted, more than anything, to make her idol look her way again.

And so, she jumped headlong towards the stage. She nearly crashed into the bassist, but, instead, she turned around so she was facing the crowd. The other fans in the front row held their arms out expectantly, waiting to catch her.

It’s not like I’m going to the hit the floor of the venue, she realized. There’s nothing to be afraid of! She jumped.

She landed on a sea of hands, which grazed her as they pushed her towards the back of the room. Being carried on a wave of Harpies fans was a surreal, and kind of badass, experience. It was definitely once in a lifetime. Shizuka’s heart pounded as the crowd slowly began passing her back towards the front of the venue.

Do they set me down now? she wondered. Do I just sit back in my seat?

Instead, her heart thought it would burst when Mai grabbed her by the arm and lifted her small body onto the stage.

Mai looped an arm around Shizuka’s shoulder, and the physical contact burned like sweet fire, setting Shizuka’s heart aflame.

“How about a hand for this brave girl right here?” Mai shouted into the mic with a grin.

The crowd cheered.

“What’s your name, girl?” Mai asked.

Shizuka was so stunned that the Kujaku Mai was right in front of her, talking to her that, for a few moments, she was speechless.

“Sh-Shizuka,” she managed finally. “My name is Shizuka.”

“How about a round of applause for Shizuka-chan?” Mai cried to the crowd.

“SHIZUKA!” the crowd chanted. “SHIZUKA! SHIZUKA!”

I’m at a Harpies concert, and Mai-sama is touching me, and the crowd is cheering for me, a nobody little girl who goes to Domino Junior High, Shizuka processed. It didn’t feel real. It felt like a dream.

“That was a kickass stage dive, Shizuka-san,” Mai grinned. “I’ll see you after the show, I hope.”

A minute later, Shizuka was back in her seat somehow. She didn’t remember how she’d gotten there. She was floating, euphoric. All her dreams were coming true. How could she wake up and go to class tomorrow, like a normal world still existed?

She continued to feel dizzy with happiness as The Harpies resumed their song:

Teeburu no mukou kurai kao shiteru

kiridasu kotoba ni obietenda

 ittai itsu kara bokura

konna kimochi ni

kizukanai furitsuzuketetanda?

 As she came down from the high of the moment, Shizuka realized something, in the same way that her brother, watching Yugi, had realized he wanted to become a champion duelist: Someday, I want to be a rock idol, like Mai-sama.

Normally, she wouldn’t be confident that she could do it. But, a dozen things she never thought would be possible had just happened tonight. What did she have to lose?

Doe's Papyrus hang out with Undyne in this au?

“I can answer that. No, I don’t hang out with UnDive. She’s more Blackberry’s friend than my own. I’d rather not deal with the pain of watching my ‘friends’ become just another puppet of my father’s... so I don’t have any friends in my Universe.”

We cover a lot of crowd funded watches here. Many of them are kind of, been-there-done-that kind of watches, or some have little quality quirks that a new brand may have, but every now and then there is the wow watch. Undive is starting their Kickstarter campaign in August and so far from what I see, this might be the one to back. They were kind enough to send me out one of their review samples, so lets check this out.

The Dial

From a visual standpoint, the dial to me just looks like a nice high end watch. The Undive Dark Sea is a three hander with the date window at the 3 o’clock position. The index hands on the hour and minute are nicely polished and are filled with lume. The second hand is very cool because there are two lume dots, one on green and the other in orange. Hands are mounted to a reliable Seiko NH35 automatic movement. The hour markers are large, nicely polished, and filled with a lot of lume. Using polished elements along with the little touches of blue work very well on that dark black face. Covering all this a thick anti-reflective treated domed sapphire crystal.

The Case

The case on the Undive Dark Sea is made from 316L stainless steel. Measuring in at 45mm wide and 15.4m thick this is a pretty large case but did not feel that large on my 6.5 inch wrist. The case style is similar to the Seiko divers with the crown at the 4 o’clock position. Having the crown at the 4 o’clock really makes wearing a large watch like this much more comfortable. I hate having a crown jabbing into my wrist.

The bezel style is very much like a Panerai and I really liked their choice with that. Movement on the 120 click bezel is very smooth but tight. There is a tiny bit of play, but it’s not a major problem. The crown is screw down and is large with the Undive trident logo. The finish on the case is a mix of polishing and brushing. Water resistance on this Undive Dark Sea is 500m or 1640ft which makes this a serious dive watch. Adding a helium escape valve takes this watch into the commercial diving realm. Another good choice for saturation divers who need a watch that can handle the heliox gas in their dive bell. If you not a saturation diver its still cool to tell people about that valve.

The Strap

The strap on this Undive Dark Sea is not some thin little silicon thing, this is more like what you would expect on a serious dive watch. Its thick rubber but still soft enough and pretty comfortable. My only issue is I would like to see alittle more adjustments for a smaller wrist. For sure I would not worry about this strap wearing out. This is made for work.

The Lume

The Lume on the Undive Dark Sea is Super Luminova BGW9 and has a really nice blue glow with the exception of the little orange dot on the seconds hand. I really like that little detail. It just adds to the visual. The only lume on the bezel is at the 12 o’clock position and that’s all you need to mark your time anyway. Does not take much to charge up the lume and although I did not time it, the lume glows for a good amount of time.

Overall Impression

I have to say that from the moment I took this Undive Dark Sea out of the box I was in love. This is not what I expected from a new watch brand. It all just seems to be done right. From the layout of the dial, to the finishes on the case, this is all done in a way you would expect a well known, higher end brand would offer. Since they are a new brand you have a chance of getting a very cool looking well made watch for a great price. Early bird pricing will start at $436 to $460 USD.
