ik everybody’s like “lol frank freshened up because he was about to see karen again when she called” but, realistically, a shave and a haircut take time so i kind of assumed he did all of that after matt first visited him… like he knew daredevil was coming back, and matt would possibly need his help again, and THEN matt goes and gets himself shot lol. karen called but frank was definitely already prepared to go help. frank meant it when he said he did all that for matt 💀

i think growing up is just life repeatedly sucker punching you and saying bitch you thought things were gonna better lmao no you're so naive and stupid for having hope in 20 years the world will be flaming bag of garbage and no matter how hard you work you'll get eliminated at some point
#and then you just have to get up and keep living anyway because what else is there to do?#but man my heart keeps feeling heavier with every blow#2024 has literally been the worst year ever god personally too#like everytime i think it can't possibly get worse than this it does#i remember literally 9th jan i had such a horrible breakdown in an auto because the first friend i ever made#after school was leaving my work and therefore my life#9 days into the year. seriously. and i was so happy on 8th because it was my birthday#i don't know im trying hard to think okay this doesn't even affect me it's fine im privileged enough that even my own countrys politics#barely affects me#but just. india is already so behind in everything. if developed nations are doing shit like this then well#it will never get better right like who do we even strive to be#i want to get more into indian politics but my god. it's so horrifying and depressing all the time#like i remember resolving to follow politics closely few years ago and the first news#i read was about some minister talking about how girls skirts lengths IN SCHOOL is the reason boys do sa and boys will be boys etc etc#i know i could just follow business news stuff like that god knows it'll help in my field but it just. doesn't resonate with me doesn't#make me feel anything at all. like i so desperately want to care about ooh stock markets and how to grow your money etc etc#but when i think about being rich enough to invest idle money all i can think is sitting in my own home peacefully#drinking a glass of cold coffee and just being able to breathe freely because me and my sister used to joke in childhood#when dad went thru a coffee v bad for health phase and he wouldn't let us drink it so we would drink it very sneakily#at night when he was asleep or went out for an hour and make absolutely no noise while mixing the sugar. we said that we know#we'll* know we have achieved true freedom and happiness in life when we can peacefully drink cold coffee in the hall and not secretly#in the dead of night in our room#i don't even know what im talking about and my period is late again and nothing is working and my lazer focus#that i had built in the past few weeks is gone because suddenly im like what is the point????#i just don't understand how the fuck humans can fight over stupid fucking things like who is kissing who and who is doing what with their#body instead of focusing on collective issues like our planet is dying so fucking fast and every summer is getting impossibler to survive#i hate that the united states control the UN fuck this world fr man i hate being born in such horrible helpless times#like call me a kid or dumb or whatever but i cannot understand how MILLIONS of people do not#have sympathy for ppl around them and who don't care about the planet at all like how????? how did you grow up????#not trying to boast but this is so natural to me!!! didn't you make save water save earth posters in school!!! didn't anyone

You are not immune to propaganda.
You are not better or smarter because you dislike the USA.
If anyone tells you this, repeatedly, they are grooming* you.
Do not stop being critical of information you get, even if it aligns with your beliefs.
The world is not fucking twitter.
Stop boiling down nuanced topics to fit tiktoks.
*grooming is not always sexual and is a neutral word/act. It means to train you to think / do something a certain way. Let's also stop letting words be lost because TikTok decided it.

Well. Time to head to bed tonight
It's been nice though, creating this place has been a real good exercise in... being myself. because. lmfao. I know how to do things and have been acting like I couldn't possibly know but.... You know
Last thing I did was Something Complex, inverting the hierarchy of creation from the sky down into successively more... fleshy matter down into the place. Lev felt it lmfao
It's fun. It's been.... not just on the tip of my tongue but spoken. It's been a dance of forming mental blueprints and then invoking all that good stuff into them, all Reality and ways of existing, condensing information from Consciousness to Matter, sustaining and coagulating ways of being and reactions to the world. Hard to explain in words, but the dance is of externalising and changing states of that which is conceived inside-outside me, like water becomes ice, the world goes from fluid ideas and blueprints into things that are sustained by their own order and make-up. Lines of logic become the lines the molecules take when freezing.
It's so... Intuitive. I really have done this a thousand times before. It isn't just a matter of knowing the theory, like a potter knows the smoothness and coldness of clay in his sleep I know the various rainbow arrays of substance and... I mean. There's a reason I walked into applied maths class and saw the diagrams of all the forces acting on each other and felt like I'd found something that understood me
I'm still beginning! I'm Just A Baby. It's getting back into creation after so long, the first time this life! I'm sure that there's plenty to critique, in fact I can see in local time that there's still a lot to do with Ananyavarda but... To divert the order of the sky in one movement and feel the world suddenly condense with gravity as if now it wasn't just of a floating realm but of a planet... Uh. While I was recovering from being sliced open and bled to feed the field of daisies and stabbed with swords to feed the place and also create a mountain lmfao I'm still chilling here in bed in the astral. we vibin.
Anyway. I'm like. I can tell the way Lev's looking at me has changed completely. He knew I was going to be a thing he just didn't know what I'd feel like lmfao. That's how I'll put it.

Phantom is so Moody-DCxDP prompt
"I don't even understand what I am. I'm a clone so I can't age. But what does it even mean to be a clone? I'm not 100% Superman but I'm still nit like him or Lex? I wasn't born like a normal person so does that mean I don't have a soul?" Kon ranted.
Danny the multi-dimensional godlike being the team had contracted into being their aid slowly shuffled from under his mountain of blankets and pillows and yawned.
"What are you talking about?" He drawled lazily. "Of course you have a soul.
"But I'm like artificially made in a lab." Kon retorted.
"And? So what? Are you telling me I'm wrong?" Danny challenged " Hey stupid, everything has a soul. You, your friends, animals, a tree, a fucking blade of grass, even a kid's toy. If it has energy it has a soul. I'm not talking metaphorically, I mean literally. Souls are a real tangible thing and I will eat your soul if you don't put some food on my sacrificial altar. Also, get therapy."
Kon much like the others had gotten used to Danny. He was mostly all bark and no bite.
As Kon headed to the kitchen to get the god his post-nap snack he heard Danny speak again.
"Also, you can age. Who told you that you couldn't? Age isn't anything but the slow decay of atoms. You are aging. You just aren't changing because your body is so new. Given enough years it'll start to show. Then you'll be no different from anyone else. Granted Superman's race also grows differently. You are so fucking dramatic. You are fine the way you are." The godling huffed, "Ancients, you guys are annoying. You treat existence like it's torture and you'll bearly understand how blessed you are to exist simply because of how un-ideal it is. Look shit sucks, it sucks most of the time but human suffering is caused by humans. You are torturing yourself with all these what-ifs and angst. Just stop caring."
Danny wasn't saying all this to be comforting. He rarely does stuff like that. If anything he was ambivalent to Kon. It still made him feel better though. One thing you could trust about Danny was that he was honest. He could even be helpful considering his job was to be a living encyclopedia of information from beyond the pale. He has always been an asset if you can wake him up from his days long naps.
****
"You sleep all the time." Raven complained.
The Titans were here this time. They needed something from Danny. Something about having to seal a threat away.
"Just death being shy." Danny mumbled curling up on his raised platform. "Now go away."
Raven pulled out a smudge stick of white sage when Nightwing silently held up a hand to stop her.
"Phantom, look we need your help. This issue needs your assistance. We just want info on how to seal this threat properly." Nightwing said.
"Ask Constantine."Danny whined back as he shuffled deeper into his blanket cocoon.
"Unfortunately he can't help. This is Darkseid—"
"WHERE IS HE?"
Immediately he was wide awake. You see there are few things to stir Phantom to his full attention. He isn't inactive out of pure laziness. He lets the hero do their thing and he helps when he thinks it's appropriate. But he will not let anything or anyone harm the planet
*****
"He really doesn't like people," Impulse whispered to Aqualad.
"I still don't understand how the Justice League managed to get in contact with him let alone sign a contract with him. " Aqualad answered.
"Flash said he was pretty easy to convince. Hell he said that Phantom was so docile he let Wonder Woman carry him around. Now he'll practically snap of your hand if you touch him."
"Emm...think about it he must have just been really weak back then. If he was injured badly enough maybe he—"
"Stop talking."
*****
"I still don't trust you. What is your game?" Raven said sternly.
A being with origins like Phantom couldn't really be helping them out of the kindness of his heart. What did he gain from this contract.
"You assume you are worth games."
"Were you sent by my father?"
"Your father, Trigon? That nuisance? A petty demon like that having any say over me? I'd crush him if I ever saw him. He claims to have conquered a billion worlds. That alone makes me want to destroy him. No one OWNS a world. If anything I own all worlds. No one touches my universe, all universes are mine. And if people would just stop touching my stuff I wouldn't be here." Phantom growled furiously.
"So you are just like him." Raven hissed in anger.
"Like I said. I own it. It is my domain. My realm. So no one can destroy it. No one can control it. I make it. Every star, every planet, every person is a product of chaos. It is the universal law. I keep my chaos in check. Trigon, Darkseid, Anti-Monitor—I don't care. If they touch what is mine I will destroy them."
"Anti-Monitor?"
Phantom curled his lip in anger then relaxed.
"He is someone you don't need to be concerned about. Not anymore." Phantom sighed. "Just know; I don't care what you think of me. I only care about keeping things the way they should be. I'd prefer if you didn't trust me."
Raven narrowed her eyes in thought before she relaxed. Then a small smile appeared on her lips.
"No. I think I can trust you."
Phantom immediately frowned. This wasn't the response he wanted.
"I think you are doing this on purpose. I think you want us to dislike you." Raven teased "Phantom do you perhaps have a heart?"
Phantom just sighed, his cheeks were greenish hue. He was blushing. Then went back to his dais to sleep.
****
Phantom was certainly a prickly guy. He was sweet deep down. Everyone could tell after a while. It didn't help that Wonder Woman always gave as good as she got.
"Answer the question Phantom. No cryptic riddles either." She said climbing the dias.
Phantom scrambled to escape as she grabbed him by the ankle and held him upside down.
"That's not fair! Kronos said I didn't have to answer this one. I have permission to tell you wherever I feel like."
"Oh? Then how about not having snacks on your offering plate? We'll burn nothing but vegetables until you tell me."
"How dare you! That's child abuse. You'll be starving me."
"You don't even need to eat."
"I still taste everything you burn. That's force-feeding. That's bad too."
"Just tell me!"
"Fine!" Phantom grumbled "Trevor Barnes...didn't pass over yet. He waits for you in the realms between. You shouldn't know that though. He doesn't want you to know."
"Why wouldn't he—"
"Because he wants you to live for yourself. He wants you to love again. You have a long life ahead of you and he didn't want to hold you back with his memory. Although he contradicted himself because he still wants you to think of him fondly."
Phantom phased through Diana's grasp and retreated to his lair.
****
Phantom was like a stray cat or maybe a spoiled one. He was wary of most people.
But even the most moody cat likes at least one person.
"Phantom I—"
"What do you need?"
Tim had entered the chamber only half expecting Phantom to be awake. Though Phantom was always awake when Tim entered. He guessed he was lucky since he didn't have talk to empty space.
"Eh, nothing. I got put on sacrifice duty. I brought some Bat Burger and cookies from home. I'm warning you now that Wonder Woman said you have to eat a serving of vegetables. So I'm burning them first." Tim placed the steamed vegetables on the offering plate and before he tossed them into the green fire he felt the cold hand of Phantom wrap around him.
"Don't." He said softly.
"It's just broccoli and cauliflower," Tim said still putting it on the electrum disk.
"Don't wanna," Phantom whined petulantly holding Tim in place. His head buried in his shoulder.
"You big baby." Tim sighed.
If anyone saw this interaction they'd be disgusted. The oh-so-great and moody god is l acting like a soft and pitiful little guy. Phantom seemed to have such a unique fascination with Red Robin. To the point he acts completely different if Tim was in the room.
"Two-faced." Kon mumbled as he watched Phantom readily answered Red Robin's every question without complaint.
"He's always like that," Tim said afterward " It's probably because I was the one to help form the contract with him when he was summoned here. The League treated him like a threat when it wasn't his fault he was here. He just wants to keep his distance but he is the same age as us."
"He is?" Kon asked astonished.

The cherry tree I planted in front of the greenhouse blossomed for the first time this spring! A round of applause!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The wind always blows from the valley so I planted this tree strategically so that in spring a delicious smell would be delivered in my living-room through the windows, and around the outdoor table where I work, and it worked :) I estimate that it improved my quality of life by 11%. A light spring breeze carrying a cherry blossom smell is the kind of thing that stops me in my tracks ten times a day and makes me close my eyes and take a deep breath and think oh, life is good.
More tree updates: I talked in this post from 2021, then this one from 2022, about how I hoped to plant a 'fruit tree path' in the woods behind my house—this project is still ongoing and, well, hasn't borne fruit yet, but has finally blossomed. My Fruit Alley now boasts 10 trees, and looks like—what it is, a small opening in the woods that I have to deploy heroic and sustained efforts to keep open, because the woods try to reclaim it year after year, patiently, like a slow green tide.
Tumblr media
The white thing in the middle is one of the tarps I've been using to smother brambles, I move them every few weeks and it works pretty well. I also use cardboard, but in the spring it's hard to keep up with the sheer rate of growth everywhere. Of course the main enemy is the army of broom that you can see in the distance, all yellow and cheerful-looking at the moment. I mostly fight them in the winter, every year I manage to push them back a few metres...
Here's a photo where you can better see some of the trees :
Tumblr media
In total I have planted 2 apple trees, 1 quince tree, 1 mirabelle plum, 3 red plums, 1 nectarine tree, 3 cherry trees. I'm really glad that all of them survived, as I was a bit worried about damage from deer or boars. I did lose 2 chestnut trees that were destroyed so savagely I have to assume it's wild boars, but I had planted them much farther away in the woods and I won't make this mistake again. I now have two new baby chestnuts and I planted them near the greenhouse (downhill):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think I'd never seen nectarine flowers before, they look exotic! I also discovered this year what quince flowers look like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only tree that didn't bloom was the smallest apple tree, and honestly that's her fault because for some reason she decided to make tender new green leaves in the middle of winter, so she pretty much exhausted herself for nothing. And you can't blame climate change and seasons being weird for this, because it was a cold and snowy week and no other nearby fruit trees were making any leaves. The confused apple tree is a New Zealand cultivar, so I suppose you could argue she thinks she's still in New Zealand, except she's never been to New Zealand in her life, she was born and raised in France, she doesn't know New Zealand exists. The only possible explanation is, I suppose, a deep-rooted yearning for their ancestral homeland among New Zealand apple trees.
I was a bit concerned when this tree then failed to produce any leaves in the spring, I worried she might be hopelessly hemispherically-challenged, but then I went back to check two weeks later and she was finally green! In a seasonally-appropriate way!
Tumblr media
Other trees I've planted, not in the fruit tree path: a persimmon, but it died very quickly :( I will try again; a goji berry shrub, which has been here for two years and seems to be doing well, but so far no sign of berries; and in front of my house, an amelanchier (un arbre dont ma mère n'arrive jamais à se rappeler le nom et qu'elle persiste à appeler "le mélenchon"):
Tumblr media
Finally, my last piece of important tree-related news is that I had the hazel tree near my house removed this winter:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I asked the guy who was working on the road nearby with an excavator digging a drainage trench if he could do it, and it took all of 10 minutes, like picking a flower, it was impressive!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the reason I wanted to remove it is that there are hundreds of hazel trees in my woods and I wanted something different in this spot by the house. Unfortunately for this deserving hazel, it just wasn't special enough.
So I planted a tiny ginkgo :) And now I just have to be extremely patient as I wait for everyone to grow.

Recently the syndicate of chemists in Lebanon has issued a statement warning people to not go near the blast sites due to alleged use of depleted uranium by Israel. (link - you need to scroll till the statement in Arabic). The screenshot of their statement on twitter was shared here on Tumblr and I’ve seen multiple people expressing scepticism regarding the source. Some people linked an article (link) from anti-Hezbollah 'democratic' newspaper 'L’Orient Today' to ‘fact-check’ - because of course they can’t read Arabic and are discontent with a twitter link.
This is my short summary of the article: they confirm that Israel has used Depleted Uranium (DU) weapons, not only in Lebanon but also in Gaza in June of this year and between October and December of last year. They establish a history of the use of Depleted Uranium, and include examples of its use in Iran in 2003. Israel doesn't directly talk about their use of DU, but neither are they hiding it - because there is no law that forbids the use of these bombs by Israel, there is no treaty regulating the use of DU weapons. There were several resolutions calling for a moratorium on the use of DU weapons in the UN and EU Parliament, the latest of which was in 2022, but these have failed to stop their use (those who have used them also includes both Russia and Ukraine). The article ends with an ominous addition that the Israeli army has been found guilty multiple times of using white phosphorus, which IS prohibited against civilians or civilian property under international law. (You probably can already tell that their defense is that they do not use it against civilians)
There is another article that was published in early September this year - LINK - I highly encourage you to read this one yourself, as it is quite short, especially when considering the amount of information it contains. As this one is more easily accessible, I won’t summarize it - please take it in yourself. I will say, however, that this article’s author, one Dr. Busby, worked with colleagues to conduct several investigations into the use of uranium-based weapons in both Lebanon and Gaza. In 2006, Dr. Busby asked his colleague to collect multiple samples from a crater left by what was suspected to be Depleted Uranium weapons. Samples from an ambulance air filter were also taken. Dr. Busby and company found not only the  presence of depleted uranium but also of Enriched Uranium. Here’s the paper: link.
Enriched Uranium. In 2006.
By 2024, all of the laboratories that Dr. Busby had used to Conduct the investigation have closed their doors either to him or in general. Busby’s letters to the UN, as well as papers detailing evidence of the use of enriched and depleted uranium are either dismissed or ignored, rendering it unlikely that there will ever be the “official” source for these claims that certain people now see fit to demand. And even if the UN did accept those letters and did push for ban of those weapons - would Israel comply? Genocide is ‘illegal’ under international law, and Israel still faces the case in ICJ, but what will that ICJ do if they rule that Israel is guilty? What would UN do if they accept evidence of Israel using uranium-based weapons? Scold them and write a fine?
The aspect of the deployment of nuclear weapons considered the most horrific is - and has always been - the fallout. The idea that all nuclear weapons would leave evidence - again, fallout - behind was born into the cultural consciousness through various cold war era PSAs, as well as other media inspired by these horrors, potential and otherwise. The weapons Israel is using here do not create fallout, however. But do not mistake them as harmless - they are still highly carcinogenic. They cause birth defects, as well as various other illnesses - mysterious illnesses, or at least mysterious until doctors attempting to treat them register that their patients have been exposed to enriched uranium, after which point the mystery goes away.
In a sense, the horrors advertised by cold war PSAs and films like Doctor Strangelove, the promise of some explosive end brought about by some fool in the US pushing the wrong button - these serve to draw a veil over the continued use of nuclear weapons that have been ongoing since this technology was first harnessed for violence. This is a severe danger to the people of Gaza, and we can’t ignore it simply because we have developed in our minds too much faith in the loosest understandings of nuclear warfare.
I think many of you are familiar with a boiling frog story. The story goes that if you put a frog in a pot of boiling water, it will try to climb out. But if you put it in warm water and very slowly heat it, it will be so accustomed to the temperature it will eventually be boiled alive. It’s not very authentic, of course - in reality the frog will try to jump out as soon as it deems the water temperature uncomfortable. Just like you would try to get out of the bathtub as soon as it gets too hot for you or try to warm yourself up when you spend too much time outside in winter.
But some of it still rings true. At what point will the UN, or ICJ, or some other white savior wannabe decide that Israel has done too much? What is that ‘too-much’ point that makes them try to protest, and what would that protest be?
As in case with Tumblr, it seems that the boiling point, in fact, has already passed and people grew accustomed to deaths of Palestinians. There are thousands of posts about the situation in Gaza, and the whole Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria… They get a lot of attention by both zionists and Palestine supporters. There are also hundreds of Gazans that came to Tumblr in hopes to escape the genocide by asking people to cover evacuation and survival costs. Do they get the same attention? Barely. Arguably zionists are more invested in interacting with those posts - they mass report them and harass Palestinians. And even if the fundraiser post gets a lot of attention, it does not necessarily translate into a lot of donations - people just assume that someone else will donate instead of them.
You can’t stop Israel all by yourself. You can’t convince the UN or try to progress the ICJ case by yourself. You can, however, do small acts that will contribute to Palestinian resistance. Go protest, go boycott, and please, please, please, go donate to Palestinian fundraisers.
Falastin’s family are under constant threat in Gaza. She’s been fundraising to save them since late June, and yet they’ve only recently gotten to just over 5% of their total goal - a little short of $10,000 USD. They’re still in Gaza, and still in need of funds for survival. The longer they are trapped there, the more they need - not just for food and water, but also for medicine, shelter, and clothes. Each time they’re displaced, due to inadequate time to pack, they lose more supplies, and their needs increase. Give what you can so that they can survive this, and please share their fundraiser as much as you’re able regardless of whether you can donate, just in case someone you know might be able to help. Not just here on Tumblr, on other social media, talk to your friends, coworkers, family, in group chats and in discord servers.
Please keep in mind conversion rates before donating:
10$ = 103 SEK
25$ = 260 SEK
50$ = 519 SEK
100$ = 1,038 SEK

Your Man
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
thank you very much to @ananonymousaffair, @clubsoft, and @letsgobarbs for including me in the 𝘈 𝘋𝑂𝘊𝑇𝘖𝑅 𝐴 𝐷𝘈𝑌 writing event <3 i cannot wait to dive into the pieces written by my fellow writers (check out the full post for every tagged gem!) prompt: "I think to be so dumb must be nice." | colour: black 🖤 pairing: jack abbot x f!resident reader summary: You and Jack have been bickering your way through night shifts for ages now—until two flying trays, a stitched-up hand, and one too many almost-confessions turn everything into something neither of you can ignore. content/warnings: enemies to lovers (all the banter, jabs, & sarcasm), slow-burn, emotionally repressed idiots to emotionally repressed idiots in love, depiction of harassment towards healthcare workers, protective!reader & protective!jack, fluff, angst, Robby being done with both of you wc: 5.2k a/n: i def could have gone a certain direction *cough cough* but i was overcome with a sudden craving for enemies to lovers / "they're both stubborn and it's complicated tropes," so i present to you this emotionally constipated snippet of my heart 🩺🖤
It was a well-known fact that you always clocked in after Jack Abbot.
Not because you meant to. At least, not exactly.
It started one night during your first week on night shift. You’d been cramming for exams all day, convinced you could fit in just one more practice block before your shift—just one more. But you dozed off somewhere around question 43, mouth open against the back of your textbook, a puddle of drool collecting around what once was a diagram of the cardiac chambers.
You sprinted in at 6:45pm, flustered and un-caffeinated, only to find Jack already there. Leaning against the nurses’ station with a cup of coffee like he’d been born in that spot, annoyingly calm and smirking like he’d seen this coming.
"Cutting it close, Dr. L/N," he’d said, not even looking up from his chart. "Careful. That’s how habits start."
He was right.
At first, you were apologetic—nervous and over-eager, all stammered greetings and shuffled charts. Jack didn’t seem to notice you beyond the bare minimum, and you chalked that up to his status, his seniority, his general aura of don’t talk to me unless someone is actively dying.
But things changed. Somewhere between covering for each other during rounds, tagging out on disaster admits, and a running tally of how many times you each got paged during a single trauma night, familiarity set in. You became colleagues. Then reluctant allies. And somewhere along the line—rivals. Enemies, depending on who you asked and on how bad the night was going.
One time, you were both elbow-deep in post-codes, barely functioning off stale coffee and mutual spite, when he passed you a chart and muttered, "Try not to kill this one with your bedside manner."
You took it without looking up from the board above you. "I'll match your emotional range and we'll both be fine."
You were never late, but it soon became a silent game. He always beat you at it. Whether it was by five minutes or five steps, you never let yourself get there before him. A superstition, maybe. A routine. A rhythm. And because you liked to keep him on edge—just to get a reaction out of him.
Seeing Jack colored with shades of affect, even if it was playfully annoyed, was fun. It made him predictable, addictive, a full 180 from his usual stone-cold demeanor. He’d scowl, grumble something about professionalism, and still let you win half the time. It became a kind of game, and you were very good at it.
Now as a senior resident awaiting board licensure, it was practically tradition.
He was already at the nurses’ station, sipping black coffee like it was fuel and he was a half-full tank, eyes scanning over charts. His voice cut through the hum of bedlam as you approached. "Late again, Dr. L/N. At least you're consistent."
You flipped him off without breaking stride. "And yet, somehow, the hospital hasn't burned down yet. Miraculous, wouldn't you say so, Dr. Abbot?"
He raised a brow, the faintest smirk pulling at the corner of his mouth. "Not even ten minutes in and already have our claws out, do we?"
"Oh, Jack," you pouted, "this is just foreplay."
"Ah, is that what you call passive-aggressive incompetence now?"
"Bold of you to assume it’s passive," you fired back, picking up an iPad and scanning through your list of patients for the night. "Or that I’m incompetent, considering I actually round with patients instead of brooding in corners like a gargoyle."
"Gargoyle?" he echoed. "I’m flattered you’ve been staring long enough to come up with nicknames."
"Please," you scoffed. "Your aura of gloom is visible from space. NASA actually filed a complaint saying it was interfering with their ability to conduct research."
Jack paused for a beat, gaze flicking over you more intently than usual. "Did you eat before your shift?"
You eyes were glued on the iPad, your only response a single head bobble "no."
He didn’t like that. Robby could tell from the way his jaw flexed slightly—but he said nothing. Just hummed under his breath and looked back at his clipboard.
Robby had been watching through his glasses the entire time, arms crossed and eyes narrowed like a dad wrangling in two over-caffeinated siblings. He blinked at the two of you, then sighed—long, theatrical, the kind of sigh that said he had survived more codes than he could count but this was titrating his patience.
"You two ever gonna kiss, or just keep trying to murder each other with sarcasm?" He took his glasses off to bury his face in his hands with a groan.
Jack didn’t look up, turning the page over on his clipboard. "I prefer homicide. Cleaner paperwork."
"Honestly, I'd take an explosive diarrhea case over having this conversation," you muttered, half to Robby, half to yourself, rubbing at the bridge of your nose like the words might erase Jack from your field of vision.
Robby would be remiss if he didn't catch the way neither of you clocked his kiss and make up comment. He stared at you both, mouth frozen in a half-smile that said he couldn’t decide whether to laugh or launch you into separate time zones. He gave it two full seconds—long enough to confirm that you were both still hopeless—before shaking his head in defeat.
"I think," Robby hummed, patting both of your shoulders like a tired camp counselor, "to be so dumb must be nice."
You and Jack had the same unimpressed expression locked and loaded—scowls sharp and identical, contempt trained squarely on Robby, both of you about to mouth off in perfect sync.
He walked off before either of you could open your mouths.
By 3am, the fatigue and hunger were chewing holes in your composure.
Too many admits. Not enough staff. Shen being chronically unbothered. Myrna threatening to murder her wife—when you and Jack turned to ask if she had a wife, matching expressions of disbelief already locked in place, she looked at you deadpan and asked, "You wanna get hitched?"
And always—always—Jack.
Fucking Jack.
With his clipboard full of passive-aggressive notes in that damn attractive calligraphy handwriting.
His tone clipped like a warning and welcome all at once.
And his black scrubs making him look like the grim reaper of constructive criticism and deconstructive mental undressing.
"Patient in six?" you asked.
"CT just came back. Small bowel obstruction. Classic presentation, apparently."
You glanced his way. "Told you it wasn’t just post-op gas."
Jack didn’t miss a beat. "And yet, you were already quoting discharge guidelines to the new intern before radiology even called back."
You shot him a look. Walsh would be proud of you for that one. "I was outlining possibilities. It’s called methodical thinking—must not be a concept you’re familiar with."
He grinned, lazy and unbothered. "Chaos works for me. You panic without bullet points."
You rolled your eyes. "You’re the only attending I know who thrives in complete chaos and calls it a ‘method.’"
"And you’re the only resident I know who color-codes her trauma alerts."
The edge of your lip curled. "That’s called being prepared."
He gestured vaguely. "It’s called being uptight."
You arched a brow. "Spoken like someone who thinks organized is a four-letter word that starts with 'f' and ends with 'k'."
He leaned in, voice dropping just slightly. "Spoken like someone who secretly enjoys cleaning up after my messes."
You blinked once. Then grinned wider. "One day, your beloved chaos is going to bite you in the ass."
He tapped your chart as he walked past. "I guess it’s a good thing you’ve already alphabetized the first aid supplies for me."
By 3:20, the storm hit.
Lightning cracked the sky. Power flickered. The backup generator hummed to life with a groan. You should've brought an extra jacket to keep in your locker but it would end up disappearing anyway. Jack was in the hallway already, flashlight in hand.
"OR’s shut down. We’re triaging manually. You good?"
You nodded, biting your tongue. This wasn’t the time.
You worked side by side in the makeshift command center. Tension simmered beneath the quiet coordination—until a grabby frat-boy type from bay four decided he didn’t like being told to sit still and wait.
It happened fast.
He flung the tray off his bed, sending instruments clattering across the floor. You instinctively raised your hand to shield your face—just as a stray scalpel nicked the back of your hand, slicing a sharp, shallow arc. The pain didn’t register immediately. Jack did.
He was on the guy in an instant, stepping in front of you, voice low and lethal. "Sit. Down." The words came out all but minced.
Security had already been called, but Jack looked like he wanted to break the guy’s face just for breathing in your direction. He didn’t even turn back to you until the orderlies dragged the patient away.
Then his hand was cupping your elbow, his voice much softer. "Let me see it."
You hissed as he inspected the cut. "It’s not deep."
"You’re bleeding on my chaos," he muttered, guiding you gently to an empty room.
You snorted through the blossoming pain. "Told you my color-coding wasn’t excessive."
He grabbed a suture kit, pulling gloves on with the kind of care you usually saw him reserve for crics and broken ribs. "Hold still."
"Bossy."
"Only when someone I like gets stabbed in the hand."
Your breathing hitched. "Like, huh?"
Jack’s attention was fixed on your hand. "Don’t make it weird."
You smiled, watching him thread the needle, so close, so focused. "Wouldn’t dream of it."
The quiet that followed wasn’t heavy. Quite the opposite. It felt warm. Easy. He worked methodically, hands sure, touch gentle, eyes flicking up every few seconds to check your expression like it mattered more than the wound. As he cleaned around the cut and prepped the lidocaine syringe, you both said it in unison—
"Slight prick and a burn."
You laughed under your breath, both at his expression of surprise and your synchrony. "God. That phrase is ingrained in my soul. I think I said it to a grapefruit during my 5th year."
Jack’s lips twitched. "I said it to a patient’s plush raccoon once."
You watched his hands move with steady precision, stitching you up like he had all the time in the world. The storm outside cracked again, but neither of you flinched.
"Make sure I don’t scar, Doc," you teased, settling in as he prepped the suture. "I need these hands to make magic and miracles happen. Might even become a hand model if this whole medicine thing doesn’t pan out."
Jack didn’t look up, but you caught the twitch at the corner of his mouth. "I’ll do my best, ma’am. But if you end up on a billboard somewhere, I expect royalties."
You snorted. "In your dreams."
Jack didn’t say anything at first—just gave you a small, private smile like he was tucking something away in the back of his mind. Like he was keeping it just for himself.
And this time, when you looked at him, he didn’t look away.
For a few minutes, the raindrops tapping against the windows were the only sound that filled the empty space. Jack didn't speak. He just kept his gaze on your hand, now bandaged, resting on the edge of the tray table like it had never been hurt. You watched him watching you, your heart thudding quietly in your throat.
"You always take care of your disasters this nicely?" you mumbled.
He smirked. "Only the pretty ones."
You didn’t speak of it.
Not until later, when the lights came back and the halls emptied and you were alone in the break room.
You noticed it as he leaned against the counter, scrubs rumpled, hair even more so. His scrubs were black, as always—just rumpled enough to prove he'd been moving all night, just fitted enough to be infuriating. You took a sip of water, eyeing him from across the break room table as you both took a seat. Something about the way the fluorescent light caught the curve of his jaw made the words slip out before you could stop them.
"Do you own anything that isn’t black?" you asked, voice light with sudden curiosity. "Or is your off-duty wardrobe just a series of increasingly gothic-toned hoodies that match your work-wear?"
Jack glanced up from his coffee, one brow arched. "It hides blood."
You stared. "You really don’t let anyone in, huh?"
He didn’t answer right away, just sipped his coffee and stared out at the empty hallway beyond the break room.
Finally, with a shrug that didn’t quite match the weight behind it, he said, "You’re one to talk."
That made you laugh, but it came out softer than expected. "Guess we’re both pretty terrible at normal."
Jack’s lips twitched. "Normal’s overrated."
You leaned back in your chair, legs stretched out in front of you, the tips of your sneakers barely brushing his. Neither of you moved.
Suddenly, Jack got up and yanked open a small drawer by the coffee machine and pulled out a sad-looking granola bar, handing it to you without meeting your eyes.
"Eat this."
Your brow furrowed, suspicious. "Seriously?"
"You haven’t eaten since yesterday," he muttered, brushing it off like it didn’t matter. Like he hadn’t noticed.
You stared at the wrapper, then at him. "You really had that locked and loaded?"
He didn’t answer. Just crossed his arms and stuck the bar out at you further. "It’s chocolate. Don’t make me regret it."
Instead of prying further, your hand reached out slowly and took it, eyes still narrowed, studying him like he’d just burnt out a fuse in your brain.
Silence washed over you again. Occasionally filled by the sound of you munching on your granola bar and taking measured sips of your coffee. After a few minutes and one crumpled granola bar later, you caught Jack sneaking a glance at you over the rim of his cup.
You didn’t say anything—just raised a brow.
He looked away like he hadn’t been watching you at all.
But the corner of his mouth betrayed him.
The words crept out of your mouth carefully. "Do you think..."
Jack looked up, gaze intent.
"Nevermind," you stopped yourself.
He leaned in closer, the space between you shrinking into something almost unbearable. Not quite touching, not even brushing—but the air thickened under the weight of his stare. That kind of eye contact that felt like it could crack glass. Steady. Searching.
You let the quiet spool between you like a thread someone might tug, if they were brave enough.
"It's rude to start things you don't intend on finishing," he stated simply.
You blinked, still caught in the current of that look, then leaned in a little—almost like you were about to whisper a secret. Jack mirrored you without hesitation, like it was instinct.
Your voice was barely above a murmur. "Do you think..."
He waited, gaze steady, maybe even a tinge of hope if you squinted.
"...that the real reason you thrive in chaos is because it matches your personality?" you deadpanned.
Jack exhaled sharply, the ghost of a scoff tugging at his mouth. He sat back, shaking his head. "Unbelievable."
You grinned, eyes bright and playful. "What? I finished it."
"Barely," he muttered, but he was smiling too.
A few beats passed. You both sat in the lingering quiet, the kind that settled in only after long shifts and half-spoken things.
Then he leaned in—just a little—mirroring what you'd done earlier. You furrowed your brows, curious.
He lowered his voice, almost conspiratorial. "Do you think..."
You leaned in too, expecting something real, something heavy.
"...that you secretly enjoy being wrong? Because, statistically, it’s seems like your favorite hobby."
Your jaw dropped to let out a puff of air, baffled by his audacity, and pushed his arm. "God, you’re insufferable."
He chuckled under his breath. "And yet, here you are."
You gave him a sideways glance, lips quirking. "I will admit that it’s in my top five favorite hobbies. But it still doesn’t beat ‘annoying Jack Abbot.’ That one’s undefeated."
Jack shook his head, eyes warm and lips softened in a grin. "You’d miss me if I ever stopped letting you win."
Your only response was a coy smile. You nudged his foot with yours beneath the table, and he glanced down at the contact. He nudged back, subtle and sure, like he didn’t want the moment to end just yet—then looked back up at you. Something passed between the pair of you—unspoken, tentative, curious.
The room fell quiet again, comfortable this time. Neither of you moved to leave.
Until Jack's phone buzzed.
He glanced at it, then cursed under his breath. "Room seven. It's that kid who demanded to speak to the 'head doctor' because I wouldn't give him dilaudid for a tension headache."
You raised a brow. "So... a normal Friday?"
"Basically."
You watched him go, expecting a quick de-escalation. Room seven. You knew who that was. Height rivaled only by his ego. Frat letters drawn across his bare chest like illiterate war paint. Barked at nurses like he owned the floor. The kind of guy who made everything someone else's problem, backed by daddy’s legal team and a two-semester record of hazing infractions.
Jack had said he’d handle it. He always did. Especially with these types. It was like they were on a rotation—every Friday night, a new brand of uninhibited pre-frontal cortex, privileged chaos.
But then you heard his voice—Jack’s—sharp and too loud from down the hall. A clatter followed, unmistakable. Tray to tile. A chair scraping. Then another crash. A shout that definitely wasn’t Jack’s.
You were already moving.
By the time you rounded the corner, the frat boy was mid-lunge, fury twisting his face as he hurled a tray toward Jack’s head like he was reenacting some half-remembered bar fight. Jack ducked, barely—but he was boxed in, too close to the wall.
You didn’t think. Just moved.
"Hey!" you barked, adrenaline surging. You threw yourself at him, coming at him like a freight train and making him fall back onto the bed with a grunt. A nurse hit the emergency call. Security swarmed seconds later.
Jack had grabbed your arm and pulled you back—tight but not painful—pulling you just out of the fray. "What the hell?"
You glared at him, chest heaving. "Returning the favor."
He didn’t let go.
"On-call room. Now."
He practically hauled you down the hall, his hand never leaving yours. You were both silent until the door shut behind you. He pressed his palms to the counter and stared at it like it had personally offended him.
"What was that?" His voice was sharp, unfiltered, pissed in a way you didn’t see often—not like this. Not when it was about you. "You could’ve gotten hurt."
"So could you." You leaned against the metal bunkbed frame, still catching your breath. "A simple 'thank you' would suffice."
His Adam's apple bobbed, slow, like the movement itself took restraint. His jaw was tight, eyes darker than usual.
"You're reckless," he said quietly.
"Takes one to know one," you laughed.
Jack didn’t.
He stepped forward instead, jaw clenched. "You have no regard for your safety and only for that of others."
You took a step back.
"You will go out of your way to treat and protect everyone around you at the expense of your own well-being."
Another step back. Any closer and—
"Do you understand," he said, each word measured, devastating, "how much I worry about you?"
Your heartbeat was a war drum now—loud, insistent, thunderous.
"Do you know how much I think about you? How much I plan for the worst every time you throw yourself between danger and someone else without a second thought?" he added, voice cracking just enough to reveal the truth beneath it. Laid bare.
"When you walk into the ER and you haven't eaten since the night before and I can see it—you're running on caffeine and impulse and whatever scraps of adrenaline are left."
You opened your mouth, but no sound came out.
He didn’t stop there. "When you give your jacket to a freezing patient and spend the next six hours shivering without saying a word—like that’s normal."
You swallowed. "It wasn’t cold..."
Jack’s voice sharpened. "You forget your umbrella and show up soaked but act like it's fine. Like it’s not freezing. Like you didn’t just volunteer to get sick."
Your fingers twitched against your side.
"And when you blow off your own wound care to finish a chart. Or cover a code blue for someone else even though your shift ended twenty minutes ago."
You looked away. His eyes never left you.
He stepped even closer, willing you to look at him. "When you pretend you’re made of steel. And then crack alone in the stairwell when you think no one’s looking."
It felt like ice cold water had dropped from the ceiling.
"Jack—" you managed to force out.
He held up a hand and turned around, cutting you off. "Please."
He couldn’t hear it. Not unless you felt the same. Not unless you'd listened, actually listened, for once. He’d rather bleed out not knowing than survive a rejection he couldn’t patch. Just colleagues. He'd switch over to day shift if he had to. Robby could put in a word for him. Temporary, at least until he found a new hospital. Maybe in a different city. Of a different state.
He looked anywhere but you, turning like he meant to leave, like he could walk it off and pretend none of this ever happened.
"Jack, please..." The words came out desperate, begging, pleading for him to stop.
He didn't meet your eyes—couldn't. "I'll see you at the nurses station."
"Oh, for the love of God—" You reached forward and yanked him back by his forearm.
And then your lips were on his.
It wasn’t clean or careful. It was a crash—years of tension detonating all at once. He froze for half a second, eyes wide open like his brain was short-circuiting, then kissed you back with everything he had and more. Desperation, disbelief, hunger—it all poured out of him like water breaking through a dam.
Your hands cradled his face, thumbs grazing over the light stubble along his jaw, fingertips brushing the sharp edges of his cheekbones like you were learning him by touch alone. He kissed you like he couldn’t stand to stop, and you held him like you weren’t going to let him. He tasted like spearmint—sharp and stubborn—the gum he always carried in his pocket, and behind that, burnt coffee and something so distinctly Jack it made your limbs tingle.
His hands found your waist, your jaw, your back—grasping like he didn’t trust the moment to be real unless he mapped every inch of you with his fingertips. You were pressed chest to chest, and it still didn’t feel close enough.
Jack had kissed people before. He had slept with people before. He'd been married, for God's sake. But this—this—was unreal. This was heat and gravity and every inch of restraint he’d stitched into place finally tearing wide open. This was the reason human beings fought in wars. Why people wrote poetry and ruined perfectly stable lives for one perfect, maddening kiss. Why everything else material and immaterial suddenly paled in comparison.
Your hands were in his hair, tugging salt and pepper curls just enough to make him groan, low and wrecked against your lips.
He kissed you like he was trying to memorize the shape of your mouth, share the oxygen in your lungs, the little gasp you made when his thumb grazed the spot behind your ear just right. He devoured everything you gave him and kissed you like a man who had run out of time and patience.
Because he had.
He’d wanted this too long to pretend otherwise, and he'd sooner die than deprive either of you from this any longer.
You pulled back just enough to breathe, your forehead resting lightly against his. Both of you were gasping, eyes locked in the kind of dazed silence that usually followed adrenaline crashes.
"Took you long enough, old man," you whispered, lips still brushing his.
Jack blinked once, twice. Like he couldn’t believe this was real. Like the thought had crossed his mind a thousand times, but the reality of you—this—hit harder than he’d prepared for.
"You feel the same?" he asked quietly, in a tone that was more awe than question.
You nodded. "Since before either of us were brave enough to say it."
Jack let out a breath that shook at the edges. "I thought if I let it slip—if I looked too long, said too much—you’d shut me out."
"I thought if I admitted it, it would ruin everything."
"It didn’t," he murmured, leaning his forehead against yours.
"No," you whispered. "It finally made sense of everything."
Jack blinked again, almost like he hadn’t fully registered it until now. His gaze swept over your face, pausing at your lips, then your eyes, as if searching for the lie he couldn’t find.
"You really mean that?" he asked, quieter now. Not disbelieving—just internalizing.
You nodded again, slower this time. "I don’t do this if I don’t."
Jack let out another breath, but it wasn’t shaky this time—it was solid. Grounded. Relieved. He laughed under it, the sound warm and slightly incredulous.
"You really are impossible," he murmured, brushing his nose against yours.
"And you’re dramatic," you whispered back, smiling.
"Fair," he said. "But you’re still mine."
"Yeah," you said. "I think I always was."
Jack huffed a breath, the ghost of a smile tugging at his mouth. "Careful. You just kissed your attending. That kind of power could go to your head."
You grinned, still breathless. "Please. You kissed me back like your life depended on it."
"Who says it didn't?" he asked rhetorically, so quietly it almost got lost in the air between you.
Your fingers drifted to the back of his neck, fingertips brushing softly along the hairline, anchoring him there. Jack shivered. Not from cold—never from cold.
"Thank you," you admitted. "For taking care of me while I was busy taking care of everyone else."
His grip on your waist tightened, grounding himself, and then he leaned in again. This time it was slower. Less frantic. His lips found the curve of your neck, warm and reverent. You gasped—quietly—but it was enough. He kissed lower, just beneath your jaw, and your hands curled in the fabric at his shoulders.
"Always." The word left his lips like a prayer.
His fingers traced the hem of your scrub top, ghosting up your sides like he was overriding any and all memories of anything else other than you. No dissonance. Just Jack, desperate to feel something real in a world that never gave him space to.
You pressed closer, kissed the corner of his mouth. "You taste like that godawful spearmint gum."
He grinned against your skin. "You love it."
Another scoff. "If throwing myself in front of a raging frat boy was all it took to get you to shut up and kiss me, I would've done it ages ago."
Jack pulled back just enough to look at you, smug. "If you do that again, I’m going to make you do my charting for a week."
You snorted. "With pleasure."
He didn’t argue. Just dipped his head and kissed you again.
You woke in the on-call room, a mess of tangled limbs and haphazardly strewn clothes. Your cheek pressed to the rise and fall of his chest. The storm had long passed, but its echo lingered in the hush around you. Jack’s arm was slung low around your waist, fingers drawing lazy, absent-minded shapes against your hip like he didn’t know how to stop touching you now that he’d started.
"For what it’s worth, I still think you’re a pain in the ass," you murmured, voice thick with sleep.
His chest rumbled beneath your cheek. "Likewise," he said, but it came out softer than usual.
You shifted just enough to look up at him, your hand brushing gently across his ribs, then settling over his heart. "Don’t get used to this."
His brow arched. "This?" If you looked hard enough, you might have seen worry flash across his face.
"Me being nice."
Relief painted his expression. He smiled, full and rare. "You’re the one curled into me like a particularly mouthy cat."
You buried your face in his chest. "Shut up."
His fingers tightened slightly at your hip. "Not complaining. Just saying... I could get used to this."
You looked up again, caught the vulnerability flickering there before he blinked it away. Your thumb brushed his jaw, and you leaned in, pressing a slow kiss to the corner of his mouth, a smile blooming in its wake.
"Yeah," you whispered. "Me too."
A few weeks and an undetermined number of shifts later, you walked through the double doors of the ER wearing a black hoodie—oversized and unassuming to anyone else, but unmistakable to anyone who knew him.
Robby and Dana spotted it from a mile away. The frayed drawstring, the hole near the front pocket, the faded cuff seams—the one he always reached for when the weather dropped below 60 degrees, too tired to bother, or too raw to pretend. Jack’s favorite and now second most prized possession.
The first being the shirt you wore when you stayed the night for the first time—oversized and soft, probably older than the first year med students—borrowed without asking. He never washed it. Claimed it smelled like you now and he'd keep it that way.
No one said a word.
Except Robby, who walked past and muttered, "Finally." Then, as you and Jack strolled side by side toward the nurses’ station—still bickering, now with smiles tucked behind every jab—he held out a fist to Jack.
Jack bumped it without hesitation.
Robby grinned. "Took you long enough."
"Shut up," you and Jack muttered in unison, but neither of you stopped smiling.
Jack's hand brushed yours between steps, a casual touch that lingered just long enough to say everything he couldn't say out loud in front of witnesses. You let your pinky hook around his for a second before letting go—just a flash of something soft beneath the usual snark.
"Didn't know we allowed pets in the ER," Dana remarked from her chair before looking up through her glasses. "Or are those lovebirds I hear?"
You smirked. "We’re just evolving."
Jack raised a brow. "Into better people?"
"No," you replied. "Into slightly better-functioning disasters. I am, anyway. Jack’s still somewhere between disaster and cryptid."
He bumped your shoulder gently before giving you a playful wink. "Speak for yourself. I was already perfect."
You rolled your eyes but didn’t argue. A smile crept up like second nature. You'd get him next time.
Robby snorted. "God, you two are insufferable."
You turned just enough to shoot him a smug look. "You love it."
He held up his hands in mock surrender. "I do. But if I walk in on you making out in the supply closet, I’m blackmailing both of you. With photos."
Jack didn’t even flinch. "Make sure you get our good angles."
You could definitely get used to this.

Ok, imagine this. Lewis being a father and when he is at Ferrari, his daughter is helping him with his Italian, because daughters mother is from Italy. Maybe Lewis and the Mom still being good friends and daughter always spending a few months in Italy since she has been small so that is why her Italian is so good.
Sorry, English is only my second language!

When Lewis stepped into the Ferrari garage for the first time, clad in red from head to toe, there was a buzz in the air. Not just because of the legend now standing under the Prancing Horse emblem, but because standing beside him, a touch shorter than his shoulder, was a girl with wavy dark hair, sun-kissed skin, and greenish-brown eyes that sparkled like the Italian coast.
Her name was Yn. Sixteen, confident in her quiet way, and with an Italian lilt to her English that made the engineers smile every time she spoke.
“Papa,” she said that morning, standing just outside the hospitality suite, looking up at her dad who was clearly trying to memorize his morning briefing in Italian, “you just said the car is made of bread. You meant carbonio, not pane.”
Lewis blinked down at her. “Wait, really?”
“Veramente,” she smirked. “You said: ‘la macchina è fatta di pane.’ Which would make for a deliciously fragile car.”
He groaned. “Oh my god. Why is this language so hard?”
Yn shrugged, stepping up beside him and tapping on his tablet. “You’ve just got to stop trying to make everything so literal. Italian is a feeling, not a formula.”
Behind them, a few of the mechanics stifled chuckles. One even whispered to a colleague, “La ragazza di Hamilton è meglio di lui in italiano.”
And she was. Always had been.
Yn was born under a hot sun in Tuscany, in a small private hospital where her mother, Maria, had insisted on giving birth near her parents’ home.
Lewis had been there, holding Maria’s hand, tears falling on the baby’s blanket when Yn let out her first cry. They had been young, ambitious, wildly in love, but even then, they both knew that love alone wouldn’t be enough to build the life Yn deserved.
So when Yn was barely a year old, Maria and Lewis sat together on the terrace of Maria’s father’s home, drinking espresso while the baby slept inside, and made a decision that would shape the rest of their lives.
“We’re not going to make each other happy, not in the way we thought,” Maria had said softly.
Lewis nodded, fingers fidgeting with the sugar packet in his hand. “But we’re going to make her happy. That much, I know.”
And they did. They built something beautiful out of what they had. A friendship that turned into a lifelong alliance. Two worlds that somehow always made space for each other.
Yn grew up between two countries, two languages, two lives. When her parents had to be away—photo shoots in Paris, testing in Bahrain—she’d stay with her Nonno and Nonna in a house full of lemon trees, espresso machines, and old records of opera playing in the kitchen.
She never minded. She never resented it. Because her parents never made her feel like she came second. Every reunion was filled with joy, every phone call with love. They never missed a chance to tell her she was adored.
Now at sixteen, Yn was becoming her own person—curious, witty, always carrying a journal around to sketch or write little thoughts in Italian and English. And since Lewis joined Ferrari, she had become somewhat of a celebrity in the paddock.
“Hey, principessa,” called one of the engineers as she passed the garage entrance. “Did your papa learn how to say ‘rear wing’ yet?”
“Not unless he wants to tell you about his red wine again,” she quipped, without even turning around.
That afternoon, Lewis and Yn sat together under the canopy outside the Ferrari motorhome. She was scrolling through her notes app where she’d written down a few helpful phrases for her dad to memorize before his post-qualifying interview.
“Okay,” she said, handing him her phone, “repeat after me: La macchina ha avuto un ottimo bilanciamento oggi.”
Lewis furrowed his brows. “La macchina ha avuto un ottimo... bilanc... bilanciamento... oggi.”
“Perfetto!” she grinned.
“Wait. What did I just say?”
“That the car had great balance today.”
“Right. That’s... true, I guess. We can pretend it did.”
She laughed, and then leaned over to fix his collar.
“Fans love this, you know,” Lewis murmured. “Us talking like this. Teaching me Italian. You’re becoming more famous than me.”
“Impossible,” she teased. “But they do like it. Especially when you mess up.”
“Gee, thanks.”
“Papa,” she said, her tone suddenly softer. “You know I love this, right? Being here. With you. Watching you race.”
He looked at her then, his expression warm, the lines around his eyes softening. “You don’t think it’s weird? That we missed so much time together when you were younger?”
“Not weird. Just… life,” she shrugged. “I never felt unloved. Not once. And I always had Nonna and Nonno. They taught me how to cook and yell at the TV during football.”
“I owe them everything,” he whispered.
“We all do,” Yn replied.
There was a beat of silence between them before Lewis spoke again.
“Do you ever wish we’d done it differently? Your mom and me, I mean?”
Yn tilted her head thoughtfully. “Maybe. But then I wouldn’t be me, would I? I wouldn’t have grown up between London and Florence. I wouldn’t have learned to be strong, or independent. I wouldn’t have learned to miss people and still love them just the same.”
Lewis stared at her for a long moment, then pulled her into a hug. “You’re too wise for your age.”
“I read a lot of Italian poetry,” she smiled into his chest.
That Sunday, after the race, Yn stood in the paddock, holding her dad’s race suit jacket while he did interviews. As usual, she corrected his phrasing gently when he slipped up.
“No, Papa, it’s soddisfatto, not soffritto. You just said you were ‘onion-fried’ with the car’s performance.”
Somewhere nearby, a fan held up a cardboard sign that read: Yn for Italian Teacher of the Year!
Maria arrived a bit later, fresh from a photoshoot in Milan, her heels clicking on the pavement. She waved at Yn, who ran into her arms, and then the two joined Lewis for a brief chat near the motorhome.
“We’re thinking of renting a place in Rome for the summer,” Maria said. “You should come.”
Lewis raised a brow. “You mean all three of us?”
“Why not?” she shrugged. “She’s growing up. We should enjoy the time we get.”
Yn beamed. “Can we? Please?”
Lewis smiled. “Only if you promise to keep teaching me Italian.”
Maria smirked. “And maybe some fashion, too. You still can’t dress without her help.”
“Rude,” he said, but laughed.
As the three of them stood there, blending the past and the present, the paddock moved around them, fast and loud. But in that moment, Yn didn’t feel like a girl caught between two worlds. She felt exactly where she was meant to be.

However, her passion for music-- her gift and inclination of it ran within her, deeper than any blood and any 'fate', and so she took her bearings up to Chicago, indulging in the sin of the nightlife. But no matter how far she ran, Remmick couldn't get her songs out of her head-- he couldn't ignore a chance to once again be reunited with his own people, a chance only granted through the turning of a Smith girl. And thus, he sought out to take [F/N] as his little pawn, his little tool, and his little wife.

That mojo bag wasn’t worth a goddamn thing; her mother’s roots were so thin you’d mistake them as hair.
She panted heavily, rolling onto her side as she spat out a mouthful of blood. Her vision was blurred, her ears ringing heavily. No matter how much she wanted to convince herself that her weakness simply came from a lack of willpower, the unbearable tearing feelings of every little muscle in her chest said otherwise. It throbbed and amplified as she attempted to army-crawl away, greedy for air that only stung as it flooded her now sore lungs. Even her coughs felt like an attack, her whole body wincing and convulsing.
Still, she’d born no tears. Claw marks, kicks, and punches, sure– but no tears.
And like a man who’d just finished having her fill, she too found her limit when her body entirely gave away and went limp beneath her, her cheeks smooshing against her apartment’s living room carpet, her breaths slow and ragged as her head thudded and pounded.
Just as she’d found a moment of peace or perhaps a small sanctuary amidst chaos, her assailant came sauntering up, stepping over her with his feet planted on either side beside her hips. He came down and flipped her around with such effortlessnes that she almost felt silly for trying him in the first place. She backed up a bit with a great deal of pain, her lips and nose dribbling with blood. And stuck to her chest was a little baggie soaked in blood, unscathed, unlike the one it had been meant to protect.
He’d not gone unscathed. Deep, skin-severing gashes that were just beginning to heal littered his face, his neck split open and actively dribbling liquid that pitter-pattered down at his feet, wetting his good shoes. His left eye was nothing but a gaping hole that let you peek into the frayed, wet flesh of his socket. Despite what looked like man-killing injuries, he was no man, and thus he stood atop her with a smile. Not of perversion and not of amusement– fuck no, she’d easily proven herself formidable and for that she had his respect. So he smiled out of triumph, pride, in a sort of ‘I finally got you without outright killing you’ way.
He looked to his left and down slowly, spitting a ball of pure blood as he cleaned the remnants off his lips with the back of his hand. He cleared his throat real hard.
“You yieldin’?”
She looked up at him in a hateful silence. She couldn’t properly speak until she’d swallowed the mouthful of her own blood, which ached her throat even further. Her eye had even twitched a little as she winced, but she spat back;
“What it look like?”
The calmness of her voice did not reflect the anger that bubbled to the surface. The giddy white man chuckled at her dry humor, though she was convinced he drew more humor from her misery and the pride he took in the success of his attack.
He smiled and backed away from her, but not without a quick whim for pettiness. He swung his foot into her knee and watched her lurch forward, immediately regretting the motion due to how the rest of her body tensed. Once he heard what he called a ‘satisfactory’ noise, he nodded to himself with his own approval. He looked down at her and spoke with mock pity.
“Ah, shit. Well, see– now would be the time to apologize t’ya. As a feminist myself, I don’t particularly believe in pullin’ punches– nor banjos– on perfectly capable women. ‘Specially you. I swear, I tried to take it easy on ya’--”
“Easy on me?” She repeated, scoffing as she looked to her right. The half-split remnants of the banjo lay there as a reminder of what had caused her injury, and it only made her boil more.
“I know some grown ass men who can't even take a banjo to the head that fuckin’ hard, let alone a young lady” she spat mildly, touching the area of impact with her fingertips, bringing them back and inspecting the blood.
He put his hands up in defense, nodding as he accepted her criticism. He enjoyed his banter with the girl, and so he saw no reason to scare the attitude out of her. Not yet, at least; that always came naturally.
“I promise fo’ God that I did. However, I must admit, I got cocky n’ figured you forgot all that your daddy taught ya when ya moved out here so, I truly didn’t expect sucha fight. Perhaps I panicked a lil’-- overreacted?”
“What,” she mocked, because mockery was all she’d had at the moment, “you was bein’ cautious? Thought I was hidin’ some kinda strength from ya til’ the last minute?”
“Mmmmaybe,” he chided, “n’ I’d expect you of all people t’know a thing ‘er two ‘bout caution, even though you left a welcome mat outside that there door. I mean hell,” he waved his finger around and gestured to everything– “house smelled like a muhfuckin’ field of garlic ‘fore I came up in here; and yet, you ignored the most important rule: makin’ sure I wasn’t invited in, in any way, shape, or form.”
He thought and stopped himself after a moment of introspection, making a funny face before he looked on apologetically.
“Huh. Field, that’s a bit offensive, given your people’s history with the word… my apologies, I’ve been so rude, ain’t I? I do hope you know that despite this lil’ encounter, I do in fact happen to be a sympathizer to the struggle of colored folks– ‘specially black folk.”
“Uh-huh… you a funny motherfucker, aintcha? You must fancy yourself a comedian?”
He thought with a fake and exaggerated ponder, shrugging as he scrunched his face. He broke a smile–
“Lil’ bit, yeah. I’m glad you agree!”
His voice was cocky with a deep, southern draw. It had a goofiness that [F/N] recognized in white folks from back home in the Mississippi Delta, except his had a bit of charm to it.
She rolled off her back and onto her side, lifting herself off the floor to sit up a bit. The taste of copper was subtle in her mouth, but her voice worked just fine. She matched his southern drawl with her own, though her voice was a lot more proper, even if she was fuming. She managed to breathe with more regulation, her shirt clawed halfway to death. She could see a grimace in his eyes as he observed his damage, and although he’d been prideful of himself earlier. he rethought the amount of force he’d used. Now that the thrill of the conquer was over and he’d managed to win their little cat fight, he cursed himself for that fact.
“Hope you know I coulda ended this a lot earlier,” he said, pacing around her tauntingly— observantly. “Coulda knocked y’out and bit ya, turned ya n’ taken the gift for myself. But nooo, I decided to be civil for once n come to you with a fair offer. I decided to be civil again by not snappin’ you in half like a fuckin’ twig n’ instead, gave you a chance to fight. N’ now, look at how you’ve treated me! N’ these is my good clothes, shit.”
Her jaw went slack with enraged apallment, pointing her finger at him–
“You came up in my house talkin’ bout marriage– marriage! Holy matrimony with a goddamn demon, don’t that sound a lil’ crazy?! And– I barely even know you! What, cause you left a few gifts on my window when I was younger, I’m ‘posed to shack up with you?”
The worst of her fate was all out in the open, and that didn’t make her any less horrified. She’d always assumed her family’s culture of superstition was based on nonsensical fairy tales, but because they’d been so scared of sending her off to the big city on her own, she’d taken that bit of culture with her and done everything they’d asked. And although she found the whole thing ridiculous, she too found fear in running away from home, and so she’d easily taken another step to ensure her safety, even if it was from something fake.
Now, that “fake” danger stood before her, clasped in blood and unaffected by all her precautions. She felt scammed, but most importantly, she’d felt scared.
And now it only worsened; there was more to her fate than a bite. There was another stipulation he had more plans for her, which she couldn’t help but fear were worse than something as simple and (un)natural as feeding. It was a matter of being bound to him, for reasons she couldn’t place. He’d already told her he wanted her gift, but there was no logical explanation in his plight for her hand in marriage.
He was awfully vague about his motivations, too. He was so nonchalant about the whole ordeal, likely because he knew he held all the power, and to fuss or try to explain himself was simply an unnecessary exhaustion of energy. He was going to marry her, he was going to turn her, and he was going to use her gift for himself. And what could she do? She’d already expelled her arsenal.
“Well, you could say no,” he reasoned, “but then I’d just bite you here n’ now, and let your family find you and kill ya.”
“They wouldn’t,” she retorted quickly. Too quickly– it made Remmick smirk knowingly.
“Please, you didn’t even believe that one bit. They’d think it a mercy to just kill you rather than let you live as one of my kind. Gon’ tell me otherwise.”
She didn’t even have to think to know he was right, and bitterly she pursed her bloodied lips into a fine line, the blood from her nose dribbling off them and down her chin. She wiped her face with the back of her hand as a bitter silence ensued between the two of them– and when she didn’t respond, the man smiled with satisfaction; a knowing, cocky satisfaction.
“Smart girl. Except, you seem confused about my intentions. Allow me to clarify:”
He looked her up and down indifferently, almost analyzing her, before he spoke up.
“‘S deeper than flesh,” he said, plainly. “I did not go through the trouble that I did to find you just for pussy nor blood, ‘scuse my vulgarity. However, them is commodities I can get anywhere. But you, that gift– that voice?” he whistled. “I mean bea-utiful, truly; can’t find your songs anywhere else– your gift. N’ so, let me tell you how this is gon’ work–”
He knelt to her eye level, getting in close:
“You’re gon pack whatever you may need, n’ leave all the hoodoo-voodoo shit in here; you can gon’ head n’ keep that lil bag, though. Then, you’re gon’ climb in the car, and we’re gon’ pay your folks a lil’ visit.”
At the mention of Remmick coming anywhere near her family, her eyes had shot open. He clocked the fear upon her face and instantly shushed her, watching her face freeze in worry. He paused and almost laughed at how surprised she’d gotten.
“We’re not killin’ em– shit, calm down a lil’! They’re too well-versed for me to not feel a lil’ worried about takin’ em’ on. So, instead, we’re just gon show ‘em you’re in good hands; show em’,” he said, pulling something out of his pocket. When the light hit it just right, a little thin, gold band reflected, as he polished it with his shirt despite the blood. He took her shock-paralyzed hand and awkwardly put the ring on her, feeling reaffirmed in his decisions when he’d seen just how well the damn thing had fit.
“Show em’ you’re engaged, so you won’t be comin’ round no more, so they can’t come lookin’ for ya when I turn ya, n’ they won’t get suspicious of me. N’ if you give em’ any reason to think the situation is anything but that…” he sighed, “then I’ll kill the youngin’s. Obviously, I know my chances of tusslin’ your whole goddamn family n’ winnin’ are awful slim but, the kids? They can’t defend themselves–”
[F/N] felt a brief second wind at that, the very thought of him even touching her younger siblings (when in fact, he could very easily kill them; they were all but 4, 8, and 12) put such a violent amount of fear and worry into her that hysterics had begun to claw at her.
“Don’t you fucking dare–!”
“-- Then don’t put me in that position,” he interjected, sternly this time. “Neither of us want it to come to that, so let's avoid that situation, hm? You hear me on that?”
She ignored him entirely; “You trifling piece of no-good horseshit–”
“Are we clear?”
He came again, more sternly this time as he locked his simmering-red eyes on her, scanning her face for any indication of understanding and thus, submission. He didn’t let up while he watched her chew her lip, and while he watched her eyes gloss over with frustrated tears despite her hardened, angry expression.
And after a few seconds, without ever looking at him, she nodded slowly. The lump in her throat burned so much that she could barely muster the words, nodding half-heartedly.
“Fine.”
He cupped his ear in her direction. “Might be old but I ain’t hard of hearin’: I didn’t quite catch that?”
Smug motherfucker. [F/N] repressed the flurry of curses, tears, and insults that had gurgled and cooked in her chest, clawing up to her throat in an attempt to get out and attack the vampire. But, she loudly swallowed it down, her voice cracking a bit as she fought to be louder this time despite her restraint. She had to be smart; this wasn’t a personal matter anymore, and she had to be considerate with her words. Still, she couldn’t extinguish her anger entirely.

“I said fine. Fine, alright? Fuckin’ fine. The hell else am I ‘sposed to say, no? I don’t got no other options, do I?”
He shrugged, “Coulda’ left em’ for dead; not everybody’s fond of their kinfolk. Just happens to be my luck that you are.”
She mulled over the gravity of her situation with bitter resentment.

She couldn’t stomach the thought, and it had all felt so fictional. For him to break into her little apartment above the jazz bar she’d worked at these past few years and immediately proclaim a wife for himself simply because she’d lost a fight. She bit the inside of her cheek and wondered, ‘Had I fought harder, would I even have to worry about this?’. What would it have taken to keep her out of this situation between a rock and a hard place?
The restraints of her situation were not physical. She was not bound by the wrists with rope or rags, and she wasn’t paralyzed either. However, she sat before a man whose maw was soaked in nearly-fresh blood, his teeth razor sharp and his eyes bearing the red gleam of hot, simmering coals. She couldn’t overcome the lump of cowardice in her throat that would bubble to the surface if she confronted the situation for what it was– confront it as an extension of her failure to kill him for the second time.
But her fate was so obvious; she didn’t even have to say it, and so she didn’t have to believe it either: it simply was.
He could see the shift in her expression and nodded, unveiling those awful, jagged fangs. And although he would’ve appreciated a sob or a cry of terror, the priceless expression on her face was enough. He reveled in her horror-stricken silence. With a sly, smug eye, he reveled in her recognition of her hopelessness. His chest only brightened as he watched her painfully stumble up onto her haunches and lift herself off the ground, moving limply like a corpse.
She turned towards her bedroom, almost swaying.
“I’ll do it, all of it– just.. I’ll..” She swallowed hard.
A morbid acceptance burrowed itself in her mind and heart.
“I’ll start packin’.”

I think Cherry would have been awesome as a character if they actually wrote him. He’s such a talent to bring so much life to a character they forgot to write. Maybe they could splurge for an extra minute on the 30 per episode to explain one damn thing about how he and Matt even met and why he appointed himself Matt’s Daddy/babysitter. Insight, please. Make it messed up. I’m so done with the blah bleh of meh. Have Hochhalter come yell at Matt and make faces at him. He was great. I need life.
Or just do the simple thing and replace Cherry with Brett.
I think one of the reasons I miss Foggy and Karen is Matt has no one to really talk to in this season (not even a priest!). His relationships with his work and life partners are both new (and feel undercooked, especially as both are based on a high degree of deception), and his interactions with Cherry are limited.
I get to some degree this is deliberate - Matt is untethered in the same way Fisk, partially estranged from Vanessa, is and they both revert to old ways. But it does feel like we are more removed from Matt than ever and I miss the old dynamic.

BED TIME WITH - c. sturniolo

new born
ideally, no one in their right mind would willingly wake up at 3 AM. except for when your baby is hysterically crying. still half asleep, you shook your husband awake to go check on your baby girl.
chris groaned as he slowly awakened. “what’s wrong?” he groggily asked while sitting up in the bed.
“your daughter.” you simply replied before pulling the covers over your head, leaving the rest to your husband who was already out of the bed and on his way to your newborn’s room.
as chris made his way inside, the wails of the baby only got louder, searching for comfort. chris reached down into the crib and un-swaddled the baby in her blanket.
“there’s my girl.” chris whispered as he brought the baby to his chest. lightly bouncing on one foot to the other, creating a rhythm to soothe her back to sleep.
slowly, the baby was lulled back to sleep in her father’s chest, clinging onto him for the rest of the night.

toddler
chris doesn’t know how things got to this point. first he was feeding your daughter dinner, then read her a few stories to calm her down for the inevitable bed time.
bed time.
once chris uttered those words, your daughter sprung up from her little bed and began running around the house, causing her father to chase after her.
you weren’t home at the moment since chris urged you to take a night off and have a girls night with your friends. assuring you that he had everything under control and you deserved a day off.
everything had gone smoothly up until this point. he had taken your daughter to the park, gotten her some ice cream, went to go visit his brothers for a bit too. but once he got home with your daughter all hell broke loose.
your daughter refused to go to bed, especially when you weren’t here to read her favorite bedtime story. she claimed only you could read it.
“i want mommy to read to me!” your daughter said as she stood at the opposite side of the couch. threatening to run again if chris moved from his side.
“i know baby but mommy isn’t here right now.” chris tried to come to an agreement with the girl but the only thing he could do was chase her around until she inevitably got tired.
soon enough your daughter ran back to her dad, pleading to be picked up stating “im ready to sleep now.” while rubbing her eyes.
chris doesn’t know what happened next but he woke up to the flash of your camera going off with you giggling.
thats when he realized he had fallen asleep on the couch with his baby girl.

“What’s he like?” Steve asked you that night.
He stared at you with this timid look, like he was afraid to know the answer. Not because you might say something bad, but because his own question only confirmed how far he’s drifted. He didn’t know Bucky anymore. He didn’t know the man who was once his family.
“He’s kind.” You whispered, your voice soft. “He’s stubborn, but kind. He’s still good, Steve. That good never died.”
Steve’s head drooped, a bitter-sweet smile graced his lips. “Yeah? He-” he huffed. “I knew…I knew he was still there.”
You shifted, chewing at your lip. “He told me about you.” You blurted, feeling the need to comfort him. “He didn’t talk about that part of his past much, but he told me about you.”
“He did?” Steve perked up, those blue eyes almost sparkling.
“Yeah,” your lips curled in a timid smile. “He did. He told me about Coney Island- the hot dog stand, and the cyclone.”
Steve burst into a shocked flutter of laughter, his fists balling in his lap. “Yeah- Yeah, that sounds like him.” For a moment you could see the images flashing, like old film flickering between blinks, gone before he could grasp it.
“He missed you, I think.”
He looked up at you again, eyes glossed with unshed tears. His pink lips pressed together tightly, trying to control himself.
“He’d never say it, but-” you nodded. “I could see it. Whenever he talked about you, he got this look. I think he misses a lot, that time, who he was, but mostly you.”
Steve nodded slowly, pressing his knuckles to his eyes. “Yeah,” he huffed. “Me too.”
You wondered, for a moment, who they used to be together. You would never know their lives before the serum, before the ice, before time became their enemy.
You could imagine it. Two kids in Brooklyn, fighting against the odds, against the looming horror of the world around them. A family born of a bond forged through fire and blood.
You wondered who they’d be now, if things were different.
Tumblr media
“A b*mb hidden in a news van ripped through the UN building in Vienna. More than 70 people have been injured. At least 12 are dead, including Wakanda's King T'Chaka. Officials have released a video of a suspect... who they have identified as James Buchanan Barnes... the Winter Soldier. The infamous HYDRA agent, linked to numerous acts of terrorism and political assassinations…”
The feeling that hit you as the news anchor went on was indescribable. Like a fist had wrapped around your ribs in a crushing grip, like threads had been sewn through your chest only to be pulled tighter and tighter.
You physically clutched your chest, feeling the staggering rise and fall of your lungs expanding. Your bulging gaze bore into the pixelated photograph of Bucky’s blurry face.
Vision, who you’d met days ago, was now at your side, his crimson hands steadying you. “Are you alright?”
The words scattered like smoke, fizzling into the nothingness that suffocated you.
He didn’t do this.
He wouldn’t do this.
Not the Bucky you knew.
A different type of fear gripped you now. If it wasn’t your Bucky, it was him, and those people had found him. They found him, hadn’t they? They said those words, carving out the terrified creature they spent decades building.
You had to squeeze your eyes shut, forcing yourself to look away from the video clip that replayed on the screen.
If Bucky did this, then he’d lost. They got their precious pet back. The screams you fought so hard to bury in your darkest memories scraped their way into your ears. Into your psyche. Burning and tearing at the calm you tried so hard to cling to.
The image of Bucky’s- the Soldier’s- body seizing up and writhing in agony as they destroyed his brain. The smell of chemicals and blood. The sight of tears dripping along his jaw.
If Bucky did this, the Bucky you knew was gone. They’d wiped him clean.
So for once in your life, you refused to accept what was right in front of you.
Tumblr media
The flight to Berlin was a limbo of anxiety.
When you took a moment to see past your narrow sighted fear about Bucky, you noticed how quickly the fate of the Avengers was crumbling around you. Natasha and Tony spent almost every waking moment arguing, picking through a thick stack of papers that you came to know as the Sokovia Accords.
You had been out of the loop for so long, that it took some adjusting for you to get what was on the table.
The Avengers were powerful, in more ways than they knew. They were strong and fierce and fought for the good of the people. But their strength only bred further chaos.
A caged animal would claw and tear and snarl at every barrier in its path.
But a free animal, one that knew no bound, would mark and claim and destroy anything in their path, if their will demanded.
You could see both sides of the debate, as it played out before you. Without rules, without consequences, what made the Avengers any different than those they fought? Were they just powerful people fighting according to their own agendas?
The one thing that balanced society was that no one was above the law. Or at least, it was supposed to be that way.
For you though, you always thought that people with the greater ability to handle terrifying matters should be the ones in charge of such. The confirmation of aliens and other worlds and other immense horrors only made you more sure of that.
There were people out there capable of saving lives. Why stop that? But politics was politics. You were a doctor for a reason. You didn’t want to worry about such technical things. You just wanted to help people.
But here you were, clinging to your seat as the jet hit the tarmac, trembling over the fate of the world.
Tumblr media
Out of everyone involved in the current political and violent uproar, you were the least important when it came to keeping informed.
You had literally no idea what was happening.
Straight off the plane, you, Natasha, and Tony, were taken to a large facility manned with gunmen. You almost couldn’t take it. It was too familiar. Too close to what was.
You were led through halls that felt like a stretching tunnel system, until you found a large glass conference room. Before you could get a word out, agents in black gently escorted you away from your companions.
It seemed that your affiliation with Bucky made you a liability. Or at least, you gathered as much when you were told to sit and wait for someone to begin your questioning.
You couldn’t say you were shocked. You’d been in hiding with a serial assassin for over a year, only popping up right before the king of Wakanda is murdered. It was a bad look. But you just couldn’t focus on that. You couldn’t focus on your imposing criminal charges, or how suspicious they might find you.
All you could think about was what was happening to Bucky.
They were going to take him, dead or alive. It didn’t matter.
They were going to lock him away. They were going to kill him.
You couldn’t bear it. Outside your glass cage, you watched soldiers and political agents fretting about computers, flickering through body camera footage. You couldn’t make sense of it.
How could this be happening? After everything the world had thrown at you both, why this? Why were you forced to bear this weight?
Through your haze, you could see Natasha sternly speaking with a man in uniform outside the door. Their voices floated through the glass walls, but you couldn’t piece together their words.
Natasha pushed past him and into the room. “How ‘re you doing?”
You went stiff, your scabbed hands shaking in your lap. “What’s going on?” You tried to steady your voice.
Natasha slid smoothly into a chair close by. “Tony’s explaining your situation now. You’ll be cleared soon, don’t worry.”
You blinked at her, confusion sweeping through you at how easily they handled things. “What do you mean?”
“You’re not going to prison, Y/n,” she offered with a smile and a lifted brow.
“And Bucky?”
She sighed quietly, her gaze floating out to find Tony, who was on the phone. “That’s a bit more complicated.”
“He didn’t do this- not him.” You whispered, staring down at your shaking leg. “He didn’t.”
“It doesn’t matter now.” Natasha muttered. “Steve ’s rocked the boat, and he rocked it hard. It’s gonna take a lotta work to fix this shit.” She chuckled to herself dryly, pinching the bridge of her nose. She seemed to be thinking of something you couldn’t see.
Something that wasn’t for you.
“Have they found them?” You gulped.
Nat glanced back up at Tony and the agents outside the glass room. “Looks like it,” she stood. Your gaze followed hers to the many monitors and screens displaying footage of heavy duty vehicles rolling through the city.
You shot to your feet, swaying a bit as you caught yourself.
He’s in there.
They found him.
“Natasha-” You blurted, catching the woman in the doorway. “They won’t hurt him, right?” You kept your eyes on the armed truck as it flashed across the news.
Natasha’s short moment of silence made you turn. “You should try not to work yourself up. It’s gonna be a long night.”
The glass door softly swung shut.
A sickness sunk through the pit of your stomach and spread in your veins.
You couldn’t protect him from this. You couldn’t save him.
You always knew this.
But God, why couldn’t you ever save the people you wanted to?

Bucky blinked, every flutter of his lashes heavy with the weight of exhaustion. His absent gaze swept over the cold, sterile environment around him.
“Soldat, lay back.” A sharp voice commanded him.
His body fell back onto the table without a fight. Tinted lights bore over him, exposing his naked flesh. He shivered as he felt the needle slide into his vein.
After every mission, there was an in depth physical, tracking his vitals and mobility. His breath shuddered out in a cloud before him, puffing and floating. He tried to track what looked like smoke as it disappeared before him.
His head lolled to the side, avoiding the staggering lights that blinded him. His eyes rolled shut. For a moment he thought he could fall asleep on that table, as the nurse examined his bionic arm. He could let the darkness take him, sweep him into the nothingness.
Like the calming force of the ocean, dragging his body through waves of salty ice.
He was familiar with ice. Even now, as his body trembled from the freezing cold that seeped through the cement walls. He tried to picture the sun, tried to pretend the blinding light above him was the warm light of summer.
He tried to remember warmth. He tried to remember the last time he was outside, free to roam. He tried to remember himself.
He was sure he was someone once. He was sure there was a before. Before the physicals, the needles, the pains, the death. There had to be.
He was young once, wasn’t he?
Or was he truly just a weapon, built in a lab from spare parts?
A hand gently smacked his cheek, startling him awake. The older woman standing over him flicked a flashlight between his pupils. “Not yet, Soldat. You can’t sleep yet.”
His lips parted on words that wouldn’t come. He panted softly, shivering and numb as he was examined.
Sleep wouldn’t come for him yet.
But he was just so tired.

Steve shuffled into the glass room with an air of tense silence, Sam trailing behind him. You watched with a sense of dread building in your gut as they moved.
They saw you and said nothing.
“What-What’s happening? Where is he?” You tried to stand, but your weak legs trembled beneath you.
Steve avoided your gaze, shame burning beneath his skin.
Sam turned to you, helping you to sit down. “He’s downstairs,” he moved into the chair beside you. “He’s being psychologically evaluated.”
“Evaluated?” You frown, turning to look at Steve. “What for? They’re just-” you curled a fist in your hair. “They’re just gonna lock him up anyways.” You followed Steve’s stormy gaze to the monitors outside of the glass room. To the many images displaying Bucky, locked in a container.
A metal crate. A cage. Like an animal.
You stifled a wrecked sob, your knuckles pressing your lips closed.
You couldn’t handle it. The sight of him, his face, his arms bolted down, the armed guards. You couldn’t do it.
You were struck by the sight of him alone. Blurry through unshed tears, but there. Alive. In the same building as you. So close, yet so out of reach. And there he sat, like a vicious animal, locked up.
You couldn’t imagine what he was thinking. What he felt. You thought of the day you guided him through a panic attack. You remembered the wild look in his eye, terrified and ready to fight. But now he just looked so defeated. So helpless.
He thought he deserved this.
Your stomach turned.
The glass door behind you swung open and a blonde woman strode in, handing Sam the receipts for his and Steve's suit.
“Bird costume, really?” Sam huffed.
“I didn’t write it,” she rolled her eyes.
Steve glanced back at her. They shared a look. The woman's thin finger slipped onto a console in the center of the table and pressed a button.
The TV in the corner of the room beeped, then an accented voice began speaking. “I’m not here to judge you…” You flinched, staring up at the screen. You saw Bucky, from a small camera built into his containment unit. “I just want to ask you a few questions.” A man with an accent spoke in a calm, patient voice.
“Do you know where you are, James?” Bucky was silent. “I can’t help you if you don’t talk to me, James.”
“My name is Bucky.” His voice came out a rough whisper. He spoke with a gentle shame, like he could only form the words to detest his birth name, and prove who he is.
You couldn’t take your eyes off him as the questioning continued. Steve picked up the case file of the bombing and began sifting through the pictures. You refused to look at the pixelated photo that resembled Bucky.
“Why would the task force release this photo to begin with?”
“Get the word out, involve as many eyes as we can.” Sharon offered.
“Right. It’s a good way to flush a guy outta hiding.” Steve replied thoughtfully. “Set off a bomb, get your picture taken. Get seven billion people looking for the Winter Soldier.
“You’re saying someone framed him to find him.” Sharon muttered quietly.
You shifted in your seat, looking between the blondes. It made sense. It made perfect sense. This is what you were scared of.
“Steve, we looked for the guy for two years and found nothing.” Sam sighed. You glanced at the man, your jaw clenched.
“That was different,” you whispered.
“We didn’t bomb the UN. That turns a lotta heads,” Steve lifted a brow.
“Yeah, but that doesn’t guarantee that whoever framed him would get him, it guarantees that we would…” Sharon trailed off, her eyes shifting to Steve in a sceptical way.
All eyes turned to the TV now. Something cold crawled beneath your skin. Something cold and simmering and familiar. Something that felt a lot like dread.
“Tell me Bucky, you’ve seen a great deal haven’t you?” The doctor offered, his muted voice quietly floating back to your ears.
“...I don’t wanna talk about it…” Bucky whispered.
“You feel that if you open your mouth, the horrors might never stop?” The doctor turned to something on his table. “Don’t worry, we only have to talk about one…”
“Steve, this isn’t right-” You shakily rose from your chair. “This-”
The room went black. All lights and screens flickered to darkness. A red glow emitted from the emergency generated lights.
Outside the glass room, chaos erupted. Men with guns began filtering into the hall. The air left you as your frantic eyes found Sharon.
“Sub level five, east wing,” she urgently explained.
Steve and Sam shot out of the room in a flurry. You wavered, but Sharon caught you, holding you steady. “What’s happening?” You gasped.
“I don’t know- but someones going through a whole lot of trouble to get to Bucky.” She helped you lean against the table. “I have to go, stay here.”
You couldn’t move as Sharon left you. You couldn’t move as the horrific thoughts filled your head. What was happening?
The glass door swung open, Natasha popped her head inside. “Time to go, c’mon.”
“What?” You staggered forward. “Where? What’s-”
“We don’t have time, you need to move with the evacuation. You’ll be safe with these agents, but you have to move.” She gently took your arm and led you out.
“You’re going after him, aren’t you? He’s gotten out- he- the Winter Soldier,” you heaved, stumbling after Natasha. “You’re gonna kill him-”
“We aren’t going to kill anyone, Y/n- look at me.” Natasha gripped your shoulders. “I know you’re scared, but I need you to focus. Go with the evacuation. Let us handle this.”
Tony swept past the two of you, and without a word- only a firm look- Natasha left you with the crowd.
The evacuation was hectic, dozens of agents and workers fleeing the building in a rush. You were swayed with the crowd, stumbling through men and women in suits. People were screaming.
Or maybe that was just the voices in your head, begging you to go, to find him.
You stumbled outside, your thigh burning. You couldn’t catch your breath. It was the fear, you knew that, but you couldn't breathe. You never used to be so afraid. So constantly edging on anxiety. You used to be in control.
You couldn’t control anything now. You were helpless.
“Y/n?” A voice called to you from afar. You spun on your heel, finding Sam.
“Sam?” You gasped. “Sam- where- what happened?” You grasped his arm tightly as he clutched your shoulder
His expression soured, then his gaze shifted to the crowd. “The doctor, it was him. He flipped the switch.”
You bit back the dry sob that wanted to escape. He did it. He said those words. He shattered the fragile wall Bucky spent so long building back up. And he ripped free something else. Something darker. Something tortured.
“Let me come with you,” you blurted. You hadn’t even realized you said the words until Sam gave you a funny look. “I can-”
“You’re staying far away from this.” Sam interjected. “You’re barely on your feet. You’re not coming.”
“I can’t just-” You dug your hands into your hair, yanking at the strands. “Sam- I can’t leave him.”
Sam’s lips pulled into a soft frown. “You have to.”
You knew he was right. You weren’t a soldier. You weren’t an Avenger. What good could you bring? But you knew that you couldn’t turn away. You couldn’t just catch a plane back to the compound and wait it out. You wouldn’t leave him. “No, I don’t. I won’t.”
Sam steadied you with a pained look, but sighed. “You’re killing me, here.” He grimaced. He rubbed a hand down his face. “Head to the airport, we have backup coming and need someone to meet them there.”
Tumblr media
*The old blue beetle stunk of aged leather and motor oil. The engine popped and rattled as Steve swung it into the parking garage. The normally packed garage was now empty, save for a few vehicles spotting the area.
Bucky could only assume the airport was being evacuated. Most places were. Berlin had become grounds for the manhunt to find him.
But he couldn’t focus on that. He could barely sit still.
He’d become the Winter Soldier again, just like that. That man made it seem so easy, to pick him apart and reduce him to nothing but an obedient soldier.
He’d hurt people. People were dead. And it was all his fault.
The beetle made a screeching sound as it came to a halt, its old motor dying out. Steve and Sam climbed out, meeting a handful of others Bucky didn’t know. He didn’t move. Their voices carried against cement. Bucky stared down at his bionic fist, glaring at the shifting plates.
“Thanks for having my back,” he heard Steve say.
He slowly climbed out of the vehicle, rounding it to lean on the trunk as he waited.
“It was time to get off my ass.” A woman with red hair he didn’t recognize said.
“How about our other recruit?” Steve turned to Clint.
“He’s rarin’ to go. Had to put a little coffee in him,” Clint stepped back and yanked the van door open. “But, he should be good.”
A man groaned from inside, then crawled out. “What time zone is this?” Scott squinted at the light, approaching Steve with awe.
Clint turned back to the van. He reached an arm inside, his voice low as he whispered a quick, “Watch your head.”
Bucky glanced up, like it was an afterthought.
But then he saw it.
Your head dipped under the van door as Clint helped you out, steadying you once you stood.
Bucky’s breath hitched in his chest, the air around him stagnant and thin. He stumbled forward, his blue eyes wide and searching.
And then you saw him.
Your eyes met.
You released a sound resembling a sob. Maybe a cry. Maybe relief.
The voices around you faded to static. The world slowed.
Bucky’s body went rigid, like maybe this wasn’t real. Maybe it was a trick of his warped mind. Maybe it was a trick of the light, and if he moved too quickly, you might fade away.
Maybe he’d blink and none of it would be real.
But then you moved.
You staggered forward on your bad leg, swift and unblinking as you closed the distance.
“Oh my god-” You wept, throwing yourself at him. Trembling arms wound around his back and yanked him close. Your face pressed to his shoulder as you sucked in a violent breath.
Bucky made a choked sound when you collapsed into his arms. He only moved once he felt your warmth seep through his clothes, your breath puffing against his chest through his clothes.
Then, like a thread snapping, his weight sagged into you.
He curled his flesh palm around your nape, pressing you close. His metal arm slithered around your waist, tight and unyielding. He  buried his nose in your hair. He could smell your shampoo.
You were real.
He let out a trembling breath, his grip growing tighter. He clung to you, cradling you close to his body in a way he hadn’t in decades. You curled your fingers in his shirt, stretching the worn threads. “I thought-” He whispered, his voice rough against your crown. “I thought you-” He couldn't finish the thought.
You trembled in his arms, your fingers curling in his shirt and hair, threads and strands tugged gently in your fist. You felt the stuttering rise and fall of Bucky’s chest against yours. His heart beat.
He’s alive.
“I almost was,” you whispered, pulling back just enough to look at him, still close enough to feel his breath. One hand, shaken with tremors, curled around his jaw, softly brushing his cheek. “I almost- They picked me up again…” You stared widely at the man who was once your safety. “I’m so sorry,” Your voice wavered.
Bucky just stared at you, his weighted left arm curling tighter around you. He watched the way your gaze flickered over his face, and the way your lips formed your frantic words. Your shoulders rose and fell subtly with each breath. You looked different. You looked sunken in, tired. You looked like you.
He felt the urge to cradle your face in his hands and touch his forehead to yours. To feel your breath on his skin.
You were so close, but in that moment it wasn’t close enough.
“I thought they-” You pressed your mouth in a line, forcing yourself to swallow your words. “Oh, Bucky-” you blinked back the tears blurring your vision. The calloused fingers on the back of your neck dragged forward. His warm thumb swept along your cheek, brushing away unshed tears.
You took a moment to stare at him now, closer than you felt you’d ever been. He looked so different, yet unchanged.
His long hair looked tousled and unkept. His blue eyes looked bright and tortured, shadowed by his pinched brow. His blushed lips parted on words he could never get out. His stubble had grown in, you could feel the rough drag of it beneath your palm.
You noticed the red henley.
When Bucky didn’t respond, your expression relaxed, your lips quirked up. “You’re wearing my shirt.” You muttered, your gaze flickering down to the red henley.
He released a quick breath. You felt it fan across your cheek. His strong hands loosened, slowly releasing you. “Technically, It’s mine,” his voice was rough, but quiet.
“Technically.” You swallowed, sliding a step back.
“Besides, I think I’ve ruined it.” He shifted his prosthetic arm towards you, showcasing the burnt black bullet holes in the sleeve.
You bit back a smile. “Dick.”
He huffed out an ill timed laugh.
A loud speaker overhead blared an alarm, a voice speaking German followed. You flinched as the sound travelled, echoing through the garage. Bucky’s hand settled on your waist.
“They’re evacuating the airport.” He swallowed, looking back to the others, who you now realized were watching you. You flushed in embarrassment at your emotional outburst. You slowly released Bucky.
“Stark?” Sam glanced back at Steve. The man you met in the van, Scott, echoed the word.
And then reality came crashing down on you in one heavy swoop.
“Suit up.” Steve commanded, already moving into the beetle's truck to fetch his shield.
Your wide eyes found Bucky again. “What’s happening?”
Those tragic blues swept over your face. “I have to go.” Those whispered words felt like another ending, wedged right into their newest beginning.
“What?”
“There’s-” he swallowed, like he was still piecing together his mind after coming out of the controlled mind space. “There’s more Winter Soldier’s.” You gaped at him. “In Siberia.”
“Siberia? Where you were kept?”
He nodded, glancing up to see everyone moving to start changing. “The doctor from the compound is going after them. We have to stop him.” His voice was low, barely a whisper.
“You’re going to Siberia?” You took a second to catch up. You were beyond overwhelmed.
Steve stepped close to you, holding out a folded tactical uniform to Bucky. “We need to go, Buck.” His voice edged on awkward guilt.
You pulled back, giving Bucky space to take the gear. You couldn’t stop this. No matter how much you wanted to. And besides, if there was anyone who was going to get this done, it was Bucky.
Bucky took the suit, then turned back to you. “You need to get out of here.” His tone shifted to something familiar, something like the voice you heard through the radio months ago.
“He’s right, if Tony’s here, we aren’t leaving here without a fight. Take a car and get away from the airport, understand?” Steve said gently, with that firm but kind set of his brow.
You swallowed as a set of keys were pushed into your hand. “Okay…” you whispered, the keys making a soft sound as you shook.
To your shock, Bucky slid his palms around your face and lifted your jaw to look at him. “Be careful.” He urged, his cold metal fist soft on your skin.
“Back at you,” you whispered, gently petting his knuckles before pulling away. “I’ll see you after this, okay?”
It felt too soon. Too quick. You had two seconds to feel him breathe beneath your hands, and now he was slipping away again. And he was leaving, charging towards danger in a way you weren’t used to. You just wanted to keep him safe.
His jaw clenched, the muscles fluttering in his cheek. He nodded firmly.
But somehow, even as he agreed, you worried even he didn't believe it.

(Un)Lucky Twins
The Stan twins shared their luck since they were little; when one was lucky, the other was unlucky. It had been a running joke that Stanley was the most unlucky out of the two and Stanford theorised that it was because he used up his luck to manage to be born, having given bad luck to Ford which ended up in a finger too many in each hand.
As long as they were together, though, the bad luck would be cancelled out.
Their father wasn't one for superstitions but even he could see what bad luck Stanley tended to bring...He told Ford his bad luck would rub off on him. Ford started to believe him...
The further away from Stan he was, the luckier he got. Except...somehow, Stanley got lucky enough to break his project.
Oh if only he knew that was Stanley's bad luck at play again and that the project breaking was good luck on Stanford's side yet once more.l

Natasha was as quiet as she could be as she clicked your front door locked and shut it behind her. She slung her duffel bag off her shoulder and gently placed it on the floor of your hallway. Her heavy boots paced along the floorboards before she sat at the bottom of your stairs and un-laced them. She momentarily craned her neck upwards to gaze longingly at your hallway, catching a glimpse of your bedroom door hidden behind the stair railings.
An excitable smile broke out on her face and she could feel her heart pounding faster against her rib cage, the prospect of seeing you after three months apart dawning every second closer as both of her boots were placed at the bottom of the stairs. Her socked feet padded, yet still in a hurry up your stairs, purposefully missing the creaks in the woodwork to not wake you any sooner than she had planned.
She reached the door of your shared bedroom and gingerly inched it open. She had to control her erratic breathing, her heart now feeling like it would burst through her chest. She bit down so hard on her bottom lip it threatened to draw blood, biting back an excitable giggle bubbling up her chest. Her eyes fell to the sight of your frame for the first time in three months and for all her years of training, they went out the window. Her knees could’ve buckled then and there, at that very moment.
Your en-suite bathroom door was cracked open to allow for the dim light resting overhead your mirror to shine through. Natasha knew that when you slept alone in the house you needed this tiny source of light to comfort you. Even if she was away for one night, you needed the light to feel not so alone in your shared bed. It wrapped you up alongside your blankets and kept you warm when Natasha’s warmth wasn’t there.
She raked her gaze over your covered frame and sucked in a harsh breath. You were partly lying on your side, partly on your stomach, with the print of Natasha’s old Navy Academy stretched across the tattered t-shirt you were wearing. On your second date, she got you a Build-a-Bear dressed head to toe in pilot gear. He was tucked under your arm and hugged tightly to your chest. By the third date, it was sprayed in Natasha’s perfume and her familiar scent had never faded. Your lips were parted and soft snores were leaving your nose alongside you.
Natasha recognized your incredibly peaceful form and a tiny part of her didn’t want to disturb you, but the rest of her wanted to taste your lips on hers again. She padded over and as she was two steps away, you finally shifted from your content slumber. Your eyes slowly blinked open, bleary and worn out with tiredness. Alongside that, your limbs jumped an inch as you took in the frame close to you, but the light flowing from your en-suite bathroom illuminated Natasha.
A breathless and stunned gasp jumped from your throat and your upper body bounced upwards. You felt your whole body come alive. Every nerve ending was set alight. You felt like a live wire.
“Natasha?! Oh my fucking, God! Natasha! Baby!” Your squeal of pure joy could be heard for miles around as your arms wrapped around her neck and drew her to you, finally feeling that contact from your lover.
Natasha let out a stuttered laugh as bright as the sun as she fell into your familiar embrace, bouncing slightly as she landed on the mattress with you.
“My dove. My sweet, sweet dove. Fuck, I missed you, so much.” Natasha gasped into your neck.
You fell back against the pillows with her over you. Her nimble fingers immediately found your warm and rosy cheeks and brought her plush lips to yours. Her lips were cold against yours since coming in from the night outside, but they quickly warmed up against yours. She wasted not a second more before letting her tongue dip just inside your bottom lip and run along it, savouring the familiar taste of you. She pulled back and let her teeth tug on your lip and you let out a wanton moan, quiet but full of need.
“You weren’t meant to be back for a week! What the fuck happened?” You gasped out, as you quickly found the air she had knocked out of your lungs.
A prideful smile tugged at the corners of her lips and she purred.
“Bradshaw spoke to Admiral Simpson. He got me bumped up a week. He felt kinda bad taking me away on deployment for three months, just as I proposed to my girl a week before I left.” Natasha chuckled.
“Damn. We gotta get him a fruit basket or somethin’, as a thank you.”
Natasha tutted playfully. “Not before I taste your fruit basket.”
“Jesus, Natasha.” You burst into a fit of bubbling giggles in response, Natasha joining you as she registered what she just said. She was a concoction of lack of sleep from three days of traveling and pure excitement at the prospect of seeing you again. She might as well have been slurring her words by this point.
“God, I’ve missed your corny one-liners. C’ere, baby.” You purred against her lips and cradled her firm jaw in your hands. You felt it soften as she leaned into your plush lips again. You could feel the months of tense nights and early mornings melt away each time she moved her lips against yours. Small and pitiful moans from her were vibrated against your own. You felt her hips press down and push against your bare cunt. The rougher material from her jeans created delicious friction which you hadn’t felt in months and left you careening for more. Need, want and desire to taste your pretty baby’s cunt again.
“Pretty baby…” You breathed out as you broke from her lips. By now, the bedside lamp had been switched on and it illuminated a warm glowing light over your bedroom. From this, you could see how Natasha’s cheeks turned a rosy pink at your sweet name for her. “I need to taste you, Nat. C’ere, let me make love to my pretty fiancée.”
You began to maneuver Natasha off your warm frame and lie her down. She let out a groan in sequence and she was squirming to be pinned on top of you again.
“Fuck, dove. Let me have you, please.” Her whines and pleas had never sounded so sweet.
You cocked her chin upwards with your knuckle and grinned.
“Pretty baby, you’ve just travelled for God knows how many hours to come home, you’ve probably been wearing the same clothes for three days. Just, let me fuck, my, fiancée.” You punctuated every word. “Lemme take good care of you, baby. You can have me any way you want after.”
Natasha let out a pleasured groan and released the tension from her chest, caused by all the travelling she’d done, in combination with the prospect of her fiancée making her come. It was beautiful, domestic, peaceful, simplicity.
She had never fallen so hard for someone.
Her goal of becoming a Navy Pilot and potentially flying with Top Gun became her priority, rightfully so, but any sort of dating or relationships were in limbo and were always put on the line.
Until you.
She made it work with you because she wanted to make it work. More than anything she had ever wanted. Sure, she worked fucking hard for her place in Top Gun, but for you, she would fetch the moon and the stars if you so asked. She thought you looked like an angel in reincarnation as the soft, golden, glowing light in your bedroom framed your face between her now bare thighs.
As she was lost in the giddy waves of love and excitement due to being back with you, you had shed her Navy Academy t-shirt from yourself, her cargo, white t-shirt and her underwear. You were both lying bare naked with each other and you wasted no time in pressing your nose against her plush cunt and inhaling her familiar scent deeply into your airways.
As your nose nudged against her clit, she let out a choked moan and a curse of your name. Your hands wrapped around her thighs with your fingertips pressing firmly into her flesh. You kept her thighs held open as she bared her naked pussy to you. You couldn’t help the small smirk that twitched at the corners of your lips, as you noticed an already slick shine of her arousal seeping through her folds.
You loved teasing Natasha. You would take long, agonizing strokes around her lips and gently prod at her clit slowly over time. But right now, you couldn’t care less. It had been far too long since you had had her taste dancing on your tastebuds, and you therefore wasted no time in burying your face against the soft curls of her pubic hair and attaching your lips to hers.
An almost vulgar slurping sound bubbled against her pussy and in tow, a wail of a cry left Natasha’s mouth, followed by her cursing your name and, “Fuck!”
Her hands immediately shot out to tug at your hair, pulling you impossibly closer to her cunt. Your tongue started to bury itself deep within her, and already you could feel and taste her cum dribbling onto your tongue. A muffled moan left your lips as you tasted her again. You wanted her to be embedded into your tastebuds forever. You wanted her in your veins. She tasted so sweet.
Croaked moans and gasps left Natasha, with one of your hands leaving her thighs momentarily to snake upwards to her pebbled nipples where you gently tugged and pinched at them. Her moans became louder and her gasps were stuttered. With your hand resting over her chest, you could feel how rapidly she was breathing and how heavy her heart was hammering against her rib cage.
Your tongue moved from inside her to begin swirling around her clit. In sequence, Natasha whimpered and her hips bucked. The sensation had been long forgotten by herself, with her fingers only during half the deployment job. The sudden jolt of direct stimulation to the point where she needed it most, gave her the most pleasure and all she could do was continually whimper uncontrollably.
You began switching between pressing your tongue as deep as it could go and swirling around her clit. If you had the time (maybe tomorrow), you’d insert two fingers, but you couldn’t wait a moment longer. The desperation from yourself caused you to sloppily eat Natasha out, yet still pinpointing all of those spots that made her cry your name. By any means, Natasha felt much the same. Your mouth was enough for her and you could tell she was becoming close. You began to lock your lips around her clit and suck harshly, occasionally tugging at it gently with your teeth. When your lips kissed her clit, your tongue could work at lapping it feverishly.
This was the point where Natasha came crumbling down and fell apart in your mouth.
“Dove, baby, o—oh, fuck!” Her fingertips were pressing against your skull as she held you tightly against herself. “Right there, right there, oh, fuck, baby! Y’ feel s’ good, s’ fuckin’ good.” Her hips were bucking uncontrollably and her erratic breathing was matching that. “I'm gonna come, Dove…”
For a moment no longer than a second, not wanting to take away from her sensation, you mumbled against her, “Come, my pretty baby. Come f’ me. Come on my tongue, please.” You begged her just as much as she was begging you.
Her moans grew louder and heavier with each breath and then, one long cry which crackled into pleading whimpers escaped her throat. Her hips stopped bucking, but instead, she ground her pussy impossibly closer to your mouth in an attempt to soak up each twitch and throb of pleasure. You moaned deeply against her as you tasted her practically pour out onto your tongue. Her sweet release was like cotton candy. You lapped away at her, with your tongue going through every fold and soaking up every last drop that came from her cunt.
You hadn’t even noticed from being too lost in your fiancée’s pussy, but you had started grinding down on the bedsheets in an attempt to gain some friction and alleviate your throbbing clit. Still, you continued to lap at her cunt and over time you gently slowed down your ministrations to gentle sucks and kisses, letting Natasha come down softly.
In combination, you let out muffled praises against her. “Doing s’ good for me, pretty baby. Y’ taste s’ good, feel s’ good. God, I’ve missed you and your perfect, pretty, cunt.”
She let out wobbled whimpers and strained moans at your words, and due to the sensitivity of her orgasm still rolling through her, her clit still twitched when you lapped at it for longer periods. She let herself roll her hips against your cum stained mouth through her orgasm and she heightened sensitivity. She was savouring every long-awaited feeling caused by you, her sweet Dove.
Her heavy panting soon slowed down to rhythmic breaths. You came off her clit with a last satisfying suck and pushed yourself up Natasha’s warm and damp torso. A thin veil of sweat had already begun to coat around her tanned skin. You kissed her light freckles, that had been brought on by the sun during deployment, and finally placed your lips on hers. She moaned into your mouth as she tasted herself. Sweet and warm. Her hands came up to ring around the base of your neck and pull you in tighter. She kissed you sloppily, her muscles still feeling limp from the moments prior.
Eventually, she pulled away and gazed up at you with half-hooded, pleasure-induced eyes. Her tongue dipped to wet her bottom lip and soak up the remnants of your kiss.
“I wanna feel you, my sweet girl.” Natasha purred. She was already moving to sit up and guiding you to lie down.
You knew what she meant by this and you hummed in pleasured agreement.
Although she had just been pulled apart by your mouth, she remained steady as she got on her knees above you and gently parted your thighs with her firm hands. Your pussy twitched as you were reminded that those very hands controlled a Navy fighter jet.
She grinned and dragged her teeth slowly over her bottom lip as she saw the sight before her. Her fiancée’s pussy was slick with their arousal. Natasha’s slender index finger moved up through your folds and pressed delicately on your clit. Your wetness gathered on the pad of her finger. You couldn’t hold back the wanton moan that left your lips. She pressed her palm against your pussy and slid her two middle fingers inside of you with such ease, it made her chuckle. The tips of her fingers curved up inside of you and brushed your entrance. You’d only felt the friction from the duvet prior and this sudden heated touch from Natasha caused your hips to buck forward and chase her.
“Please, Nat! Need you. Need to feel you.” You babbled out.
She hesitantly removed her fingers and still with a grin on her lips, she sucked on her digits and groaned at the taste of you.
“Taste so sweet for me, my sweet girl.”
You whined again below her. Months of longing for her came crashing down on you with a heavy weight and you couldn’t bear waiting a second longer.
Natasha heard your pleading whines and cooed. “I’m comin’, I’m comin’, baby.” She parted her thighs and slotted herself over you. Your pussy pressed against each other and you let out a whimper when you felt her warm clit move against yours. She too stuttered. “Fuck… I missed you. I missed you so much, my sweet dove.”
You gazed up at her with pleading eyes. “I missed you so much too, pretty baby. Feels s’ nice feelin’ your pussy on me.” She moved an inch and you whined again. “P—Please move, Nat.”
Her hands squeezed onto your thighs and she began to slowly move against you. The slick between your pussy coated you both and allowed her to grind against you with ease, with an obscene noise. Your clit slid against hers and pushed through her folds. You were throbbing with sensitivity and every movement against her caused your nerve endings to be electrified like a live wire. She picked up her pace and your hips moved against her to match her rhythm. Your breathing elevated to the point where you were practically panting. A constant string of pleasurable moans left your lips, as you begged her for more.
Normally, Natasha would enjoy teasing you further and testing how long you could beg for, but you were both desperate after all this time.
With her heightened pace grew a firm pressure on both of your clit’s, as they continuously slicked against each other. Natasha threw her head back as she was grinding down hard against your cunt. Her soft, inky black hair fell past her shoulders. Some of the finer strands of hair had gathered around her temple and forehead, sticking to her hot skin with sweat. She cursed your name and cried out about how sweet you felt. Your entire body was responsive to her touch and the firm feel of her cunt grinding down onto yours. She gripped so hard onto your thighs, that her pressing fingertips could bruise.
“Oh, baby, oh fuck! I— I don’t think… I— I can last m—much longer, baby.” You cried out from below her.
Her head came back down and her eyes met yours. Your clit throbbed against hers as you saw the desperate and pleading look in Natasha’s eyes.
“Please come for me, dove. Please, please, please. I need t’ feel you squirming against me. I’m right behind you.”
She ground down onto you impossibly harder and as her clit swiped past yours, it was the final touch to push you over the edge. Your body squirmed and a cry of gratification tore from your dry throat. Your jaw went slack as strings of curses and moans fumbled over your lips. Your pussy throbbed against hers and you could hear your heart pounding in your ears.
“Good girl, my dove. Such a good girl for me… Fuck! M— Makin’ a mess all over me…” She praised you from above, but Natasha’s panting grew heavier with even heavier moans. Her eyes were locked onto yours but her long eyelashes were fluttering.
Your clit thrummed with overstimulation, as she continued to chase her high. Your hips still angled against hers and allowed her to pulverize for the next few strokes, pushing her to crash over the same edge you just fell. Her body began to stutter over you, but she remained as steady as she could. She squeezed her eyes tightly shut as she babbled out moans of your name.
Natasha looked radiant above you. A sheen of sweat coated her tanned skin. The soft light of your bedside table lamb reflected and flexed against her toned muscles, as she rode out the final strokes of her high. Her silken black hair fell with perfect waves over her neck and shoulders. Her teeth grazed over her plush bottom lip as she sucked in the last gasp of air from her high.
Her orgasm had caused her to go limp and she let herself fall to your chest. You held onto her and gently guided her down to rest her warm cheek against your breasts. You felt her soft breaths of warm air fan against your skin. Both of your heartbeats slowed down in sync. Natasha hummed to herself with a smile as she finally heard the comforting and rhythmic thud of your heart under her pink-tipped ear.
She turned her head slightly and pressed a kiss in between your breasts, lifting herself to give you a lopsided grin.
She hummed again. “Let me clean you up, my dove.”
You let out a blissful sigh and combed your fingers through the finer hairs on her temple. You nodded in agreement and cupped her cheek to bring her lips closer to yours. You both let out a content groan as you tasted one another on each other’s lips.
You pulled apart and watched as Natasha’s eyelashes were fanning over her cheeks, her eyes growing heavier with each passing second. You knew that she was beyond exhausted from her travels and the prior activity, therefore you let her rest against you for a couple more moments.
You would clean her up with a warm washcloth in a minute.
For now, your only desire was to feel your future wife resting contently against your chest.
You pressed a kiss to the top of her head and purred with sweet delight.
“I promise I’ll take care of you in a bit, baby. I’m just so fucking happy you’re home, my pretty baby.”
Two days later and a fruit basket arrived on Bradley’s doorstop.
