ラズパイでパケットキャプチャ

概要

ESP32 の動作確認のためにパケットキャプチャできる環境をラズパイで構築したのでその覚書

目的

ESP32 が期待通りにパケットを出力しているか、および家電・スマホアプリの間でどのような通信が行われているのかの確認

方針

ルーターでパケットキャプチャできれば簡単なのですが、普通の家庭用ルーターにそんな機能は無いので、 代わりにラズパイをWifiブリッジとして動作させてパケットキャプチャすることにしました。 有線接続機器間のパケットキャプチャは必要ないので非対応です。(有線LANアダプタ使えばできますが)

やったこと

SSH/VNC 有効化

USB-Ethernet アダプタ接続 (リモート接続用)

Ethernet 2本ともルーターに接続

eth1 (USB-Ethernet) を固定IP化

wireshark をインストール

hostapd をインストール

そのほか

固定IPにするには /etc/dhcpcd.conf を修正

/etc/network/interfaces を修正しろとかいう情報は古い

ディスプレイ無しで運用するなら /boot/config.txt にある #hdmi_force_hotplug=1 をコメントアウトしないとVNC接続できても画面が映らない

UltraVNC Viewer では認証不能で VNC 接続できなかった、RealVNC Viewer なら接続できた

hostapd をブリッジが準備できる前に実行すると失敗する

ブリッジを作るのに bridge-utils をインストールしろとかいう情報は古い

Gamersoftware rettet die Vorlesung

Die Planung:

Das neue Semester an unserer Hochschule startet am 16.03.2020 wegen der Corona Pandemie ohne Präsenzlehre. Ich plane, die Vorlesungen mit Lernvideos und mit einem AdobeConnect Stream zu ersetzen. Den Stream möchte ich nutzen, um den Studierenden Frage- und Diskussionsmöglichkeiten zu bieten. Seit etwa 2012 nutze ich einen Tablet-PC für die Vorlesungen und die Erstellung von Screencasts. Ein Semester aus Remote-Vorlesungen fürchte ich also nicht besonders.

Das Videokonferenztool AdobeConnect wird vermutlich wegen Überlastung nicht funktionieren, daher bekomme ich von einem meiner Kinder eine kleine Einführung in Discord, das aktuell bei Gamern am weitesten verbreitete Chat- und Streamingtool. Es gibt in einem siebenköpfigen Haushalt wenige ruhige Plätze und so ziehe ich mit meiner ganzen Technik in unser „Bastelzimmer“, ein Hobby- und Chaosraum mit mehr verschiedenen Nutzungen als Platz. (Das Bastelzimmer ist auch für Tonpapier, Sport, Filzwolle, Töpfern, Gäste, Bügelperlen, Nähsets, chemische Experimente, Instrumente und vieles mehr zuständig). Der Keller mit dem Router ist nebenan und ich bohre ein Loch in die Wand, um ein LAN-Kabel direkt zum Router legen zu können. Version 0.1 des Studios ist damit fertig. Meine sechsjährige Tochter fragt, was ich da mache. Ich erkläre ihr, dass ich heute Vorlesung aus dem Bastelzimmer mache und dass nachher 20 Studierende zuhören: „Alle bei uns im Bastelzimmer?“ fragt sie. „Äh … Ja“. Oder so.

Das Studio Version 0.1

Der Start:

Wie zu erwarten, ist der AdobeConnect Service am Montag zum Semesterbeginn überlastet und ich verlege die erste Vorlesung des Semesters in Discord. Der acht Jahre alte Tablet-PC entpuppt sich als zu leistungsschwach zum Aufnehmen und gleichzeitigem Streamen, also baue ich während der Vorlesung auf das Notebook um. Von 22 Hörern trudeln allmählich 18 in Discord ein, bringen nacheinander ihre Mikros und den Videostream zum Laufen. Die Vorlesung beginnt mit 30 Minuten Verspätung. Ich vermisse beim Erklären meinen Stift und mein Tablet, also hole ich mittendrin schnell das kleine Wacom Grafiktablett von den Kindern. Jetzt habe ich diese schwarze Schreibfläche an das Notebook angeschlossen und kann mit zittriger und krakeliger Handschrift live in die Folien malen.

Die Studierenden sind sehr diszipliniert, sorgen untereinander für Mikrofondisziplin und ich bekomme nach etwas Anlaufschwierigkeiten sogar Interaktion, Diskussion und Antworten sowohl im Audio-, als auch im Textchat. Die Vorlesung endet ganz traditionell:

Am Dienstag erwarte ich 50 Zuhörer zur ersten Vorlesung in einem anderen Fach – es finden sich nur etwa 30 auf Discord ein, aber an diesem Tag bin ich vorbereitet und schneide die ganze Vorlesung zusätzlich mittels „ShareX“, einem Screenrecording-Tool, auf Video mit. Leider führt das zu ständigen Aussetzern im Stream, wie ich von den Zuhörern erfahre.

Die nächsten Tage und Vorlesungen gehören dann dem Technik-Feintuning. Der alte Tablet-PC soll wegen der besseren Handschrift weiter nutzbar bleiben, das Streamen und die Aufnahme sind aber auch wichtig. Letztendlich läuft auf dem Tablet jetzt OneNote und UltraVNC, ein Remote-Desktop-Tool, mit dem ich den Tabletbildschirm zum Notebook spiegeln kann. Das Notebook empfängt diesen Stream mit UltraVNC. Dieses Bild nimmt OBS, ein Videoaufnahmetool aus der Gamerszene, auf und versieht es mit einem kleinen Kamerabild von mir und der Tonspur vom USB-Mikrofon. Dieses kombinierte Bild aus Tabletbildschirm, Ton und Kamerabild wird dann von Discord an die Studierenden gestreamt.

Da nie alle Studierenden da sind, vereinzelt Verbindungen abreißen und der Stream Aussetzer durch zu geringe Bandbreite im Studentenwohnheim hat, ist ihnen der Mitschnitt auf Video ebenfalls wichtig, den ich nach der Veranstaltung dann in der Lernplattform Moodle ablege.

Bei den eingesetzten Softwaretools OBS (Open Broadcast Studio), ShareX und UltraVNC handelt es sich um Open Source Tools. Discord ist kostenlos. Nach den positiven Erfahrungen mit Discord unter den schwierigen Bedingungen derzeit bin ich „Discord Nitro“ Mitglied geworden und dürfte jetzt sogar animierte Emojis für die Vorlesung nutzen.
