♰ A/N: I created this to have two parts. This one is more action-oriented and the second will be more romantic. I'm just trying to do my part to give us chubby badass vampire babes whose men love them enough to commit murder, ya know?

The underground club scene can grow quite boring for a vampire. Your first few blood raves make you feel more alive than you ever did when you actually had a pulse. But the ones that follow? They become so mundane and predictable that not even the introduction of human drugs can save them from losing their luster.

Enter a new drug, Ultra, synthetic blood by vampires for vampires. Guaranteed to fuck you up. One dose opens your eyes to a world far beyond your own. It mutates your cells. Alters your brain chemistry. Turns you into a brand new beast. The power you gain is addictive and the things you’ll do to hold onto it, the sins you'll commit, you don’t even want to imagine.

But you must imagine them. You are the one who created Ultra, or so they say, and some incredibly powerful people are looking to give you a taste of your own poison. Tell me, are you prepared to die? Again?

Distorted metal music ricochets off of the stone walls of the club with the force of a dozen automatic rifles firing all at once. The occasional rapid flashing of strobe lights illuminates the darkness, giving the few hundred bloodsuckers on the dance floor the closest thing to a sunrise that they can tolerate. Everyone dances except for one weasel of a man. A dealer slinking through the crowd in his worn leather jacket handing off vials of Ultra to this person and the next.

“I won’t have to do this for long,” he tells his friend at the bar when he stops to grab a drink. This friend, a fellow scumbag, grins as he knocks back a shot, completely unphased by the recent carnage caused by the shit his companion has been peddling. “The council says once I do this they can get rid of her and make room for me.” “Make room for you? Tell me you don’t really think those rich fucks would ever let us into their secret society”

The dealer nods to the bartender to give him his usual, “See, that’s your problem. You think too small. That’s why you’ll never get anywhere.” His friend only rolls his eyes, turning to check his surroundings before he leans in to offer some advice. “I’d be quieter about this if I were you. If she finds out you’re trying to set her up she’ll sick her dog on you then you won’t get anywhere either.” “Fuck her” the dealer spits, finishing off his drink, “She can sick her dog on me. I’ll just have to put him down.”

Agitated, he slams his glass down on the bar, nearly shattering it. “I’m supposed to be afraid of her?” he mutters, shoving the other man aside to turn down a winding hallway that leads to the back door. He stops in front of the door to dig for a cigarette, wincing at the brightness of the few working lights that dangle from the ceiling of the desolate hallway. The air shifts, growing colder around him, but he’s much too busy fidgeting with his lighter to notice the change. Too lost in the ecstasy of that first drag to notice the shadow along the wall closing in on him. “I don’t even know why they have to do all of this. Should just kill her. She’s just some stupid b—”  

An ice pick pierces his neck from behind, taking every twist and turn between his muscles before emerging on the other side. The cigarette falls from his lips, extinguished by the tiny pool of blood forming in vivid red on the concrete floor. “Just some what?” Hyunjin questions, rolling the ice pick between the man’s vertebrae. The sound of metal splitting bone is music to Hyunjin’s ears. “Speak! What were you going to call her?” The man opens his mouth but no answers tumble out. Only blood and desperate gasps for air. Tears begin to form in his eyes as the reality of his helplessness sets in.

Hyunjin leans over the man’s shoulder, his large hand reaching around to cover his mouth. “I should’ve known you’d have nothing interesting to say” he sighs, almost sounding disappointed, “You’re just some stupid bitch.” The ice pick slips out smooth as butter, finding a new home in the man’s left lung followed by his right. Hyunjin moves in a blur of darkness, leaving the man spinning in circles trying to predict where the next attack will come from.

Blood pours from a dozen different holes scattered across his body. He reaches out to grab the collar of Hyunjin’s expertly pressed suit only to pull back a fistful of nothing. The coldness, he feels it now as he drops to his knees, his vision darkening. One final stab, inches from his heart, is all he feels before the bulbs in the ceiling pop leaving him in the dark. 

“Oh, Jinnie, look! Here you are!” you sing from the comfort of a rose infused bubble bath. You ease down further into the steamy water, the rose petals dancing at the surface cloaking your naked body. “Pisces,” you begin to read off from the astrology book you’ve been flipping through, “As Jupiter aligns with Neptune in your house of love, you mustn’t shy away from sharing your true feelings with your partner—” Hyunjin kneels beside you, tilting your book back to view the title. He cracks a smile, “A Girl’s Guide to Astrology 2023. After a hundred years, you still believe in that stuff?” “Mmm, maybe” you shrug, running your black manicured nails through his slicked back hair.

Resting his head on the edge of the tub, Hyunjin closes his eyes and lets you massage his scalp. He could stay like this for hours, having you read to him by candlelight as your fingers melt away all that plagues him. “What are your true feelings? You seem troubled.” “No trouble, my love.” Tossing the book to the floor, you raise his head to look at you. It never fails, even after a century together, that looking into his eyes makes you want to melt. Beyond the beauty of his features lies a softness reserved only for moments like this. For moments with you. A softness that most men of your kind lacked even before they turned.

“You’re lying to me, Jinnie. What’s wrong?” One brush of your thumb across his cheek is all it takes to break his defenses. “You know that Ultra stuff that has everyone turning feral?” You nod, not daring to ask if he’d taken it. He’d never touch something like that. Not your Jinnie. Not when he’s seen firsthand what it does. It’d be hypocritical to say that neither of you lusts for violence. But violence directed towards people who don’t deserve it? Tearing the limbs from innocent lovers in the park? Slaughtering whole families? There’s no pride in that. “I caught the guy who’s been dealing it. He’s upstairs. I think—” Hyunjin pauses, bracing for your reaction, “I think the council plans to say that you made it.”

Your iris pulses an electric red, your heart pumping a pure searing hatred through your veins. The council. Five decrepit bastards who rule their own sectors of the city under the guise of keeping the peace between vampires and humans when in reality it’s all about the money. That’s all it’s ever been about. They’re criminals, the same as any mafia you’ve ever known, and you worked your ass off for your seat among them. They could never quite accept that a woman infringed upon their little boys' club. They would’ve put a stake through your heart a long time ago if it weren’t against their own bullshit rules. 

Rule #1: We never kill our own. The Consequence: Death. 

Ultra doesn’t just make vampires kill humans. It makes them kill each other. And finally, when their bodies can’t mutate anymore, it kills the host too. If they can pin this on you then you’re dead. You, every vampire under your protection, and Hyunjin—

Not him. Never him. 

You rip through the halls of your sprawling mansion, hearing Hyunjin’s voice as if it were far away at the end of a long tunnel. “Cover up at least, honey” he insists, throwing a flowy silk robe around your wet body. You slip your arms in, not missing a beat as you grab a blade from the wall on your way to the third floor. You can hear shallow breathing as if it were your own. The stench of whisky and blood floods your senses the closer you get, nearly making you nauseous. Kicking the door into your spare bedroom, you come upon the man plotting your death.

He’s chained to the bed, his clothes tattered where wounds from the ice pick have slowly begun to heal. You descend upon him, your blade pressed to his throat, fangs bared. “Tell me everything” you demand, realizing at once that you’ve seen him before. Nowhere in particular. Here and there. In places you never thought much of. Had his appearances there really been a coincidence? No, there was a reason. He’s been watching you all this time. How didn’t you see it? “No” he refuses, licking the dried blood from his bottom lip, “Kill me and you’ll burn for it. You both know that!”

You gasp, sitting up on top of him, “Oh no, baby, did you hear that?” Hyunjin leans against the wooden bedpost, his reappearance startling the man. “I heard. Kill him and we’ll burn” Hyunjin dramatically cowers in fear, “I’m so scared. We better be careful, huh?” “Mmhmm” you agree, inching the blade away from the man’s neck and burying it in the mattress beside his head. “Jinnie, how long do you think until sunrise?” Hyunjin makes his way to the window, peeking out at the breathtaking landscape that surrounds your home.

It’s early enough in the morning for the sky to still cling to hues of dark blue as the sun creeps up along the horizon. “Half an hour maybe.” “Would you be a dear and open the curtains? It’s so dark in here.” The man’s eyes dart back and forth, watching your smile grow more devious with each curtain Hyunjin ties open. “Wait, you can’t—” the man panics, struggling against his chains. “I know. I know. We can’t kill you!” you groan, climbing off of him, “But we’re gonna. I mean, thanks to you they’ll probably try to kill me anyway, and since you won’t answer any questions you’re useless.”

Hyunjin takes you by the hand, escorting you to the door. “You go to bed. I’ve got it from here” he whispers, kissing you on the forehead. You cross your arms defiantly, refusing to move an inch. “No, we’ll finish this together like we do everything else.” Hyunjin’s arms come around your waist, pressing your plush body to his. “I always take care of you, don't I?” he asks, his hands tracing your figure. “Always.” “Then go and wait for me, okay? This won’t take long.” You glance over at the man on the bed, your mind racing with all the things you could do to him. All horrors he’d very much deserve.

“Fine but hurry. You've been gone all night. I’ve missed you.” Your lips meet, sparking something that sets your body ablaze in a different way. One that has you tugging at the buttons on his shirt as your tongue teases the sharp points of his fangs. You don’t want to break away and neither does he. Once Hyunjin has his hands on you everything around him loses its importance. The only thing his body longs for—needs as if his survival depends upon it—is you. But he manages to turn you loose for your own safety, locking the door when you leave to be extra safe.

Without another word, he circles the room slowly closing each curtain he opened only moments ago. “What happened? Change of heart?” the man taunts, trying and failing to get a rise out of him. Hyunjin grabs the vintage French parlor chair positioned by the window and drags it to the darkest corner of the room. He sits in silence, his face void of emotion, his eyes unblinking. Hyunjin’s focus is no longer on his prisoner but on the evolution of the light that breaks through the curtains.

Minute after agonizing minute passes until the fear of the unknown forces the man to ramble off everything he can think of. Insults, confessions, pleas for mercy. None of it gets the slightest reaction until the faintest sunbeam casts its light on the carpet. Hyunjin rises, locking eyes with the man for the first time as he approaches the sunbeam. “My wife always said we all have special abilities. Things that make us unique,” he says, rolling up his left sleeve. “I didn’t believe her at first but then one day I got caught in the sun.”

Hyunjin shoves his forearm into the sunlight, his bare skin exposed to what should be eating through him like acid. “Nothing, see? It takes a while for me to burn but you—I have a feeling you’ll strike up like a match.” “No, please! You don’t understand!” Hyunjin smirks, twirling over to the window, “You don’t understand. You told my baby she’d burn. You first!” Hyunjin tears open the curtain nearest to the bed, letting the sun shine in at full power. “What a beautiful morning” he hums, sliding the others open to the tune of screams that would wake the dead.

The man on the bed is burning, his skin bubbling like he’s being deep fried. In a sense he is. The heat from the sun is cooking him. He feels every pop. Every sizzle. Tiny fires ignite, charring his skin. Hyunjin watches on, the steam rising from his own skin barely a tickle. He won’t leave this room before he’s seen him burnt to a crisp, reduced to nothing more than a charred corpse for him to deliver to the council as a warning of sorts.

Threaten what he loves and this is only a taste of the fate that awaits them.

Looker and Anabel's Pokemon

Due to the fanfic Neither Black Nor White on AO3 (Rated Mature), I was thinking about my headcanons for Pokemon husbandry and what it takes to keep such amazing, unique, and uniquely costy creatures, especially in the terms of Anabel.

Looker is pretty simple since he only has Croagunk, but a good reason he has another Croagunk after his last one's passing is that he's well aware of the species and how to properly care for one.

An old piece but Looker wears safety gloves when handling this species. Not just to protect himself from the poison that seeps from its body fairly naturally (even if it's in very low doses) but mostly because amphibians are very porous. Gloves that do not irritate its skin and are frequently washed are something Looker has for the lil guy. He also is well aware of how Croagunk's poison/venom works: in very low doses from a Poison Jab it can safely knock down a fully grown person to put them in a drowsy state. It can even be reworked for medicinal purposes.

Beyond that he's well aware of the environment Croagunk needs to thrive. Regular water misting or splashes in bodies of water keep the frog's skin moist, but Croagunk isn't too hard to maintain due to the body size and species.

The real tricky person is Anabel.

Now still on Looker's side, Anabel has given him (forced onto him, really) shared custody of her Riolu/Lucario in my headcanon. He's been learning how to take care of such a Pokemon, which is actually quite a simple species due to being a loyal canine. I don't believe Pokemon eat processed kibble, but Lucario can eat a diet similar to a human except with more of a meat/eggs focus. (And no chocolate, I don't believe the Lucario Movie in the slightest.) Unlike Croagunk, doesn't need a special place to sleep or regular skin moistenings.

Now firmly on Anabel, we have from order of obtainment: Snorlax, Alakazam, Raikou, Latios, Entei, Weavile, Mismagius, Salamence, and (Shared Custody)Lucario.

Having a Munchlax/Snorlax starter ALONE sounds costly enough. It's known to be a gluttonous Pokemon, so it's already expensive by itself. Anabel thankfully has a plan. International Pokemon League Societies provide benefit for trainers: things like access to specialized food, items, and certifications based on the level trainer someone is. (This is why you can only buy Ultra Balls after certain amount of accomplishments.)

So Anabel has special nutrient rich Snorlax food that keeps it happy. Snorlax as a species tend to fall under "you are what you eat" so if they eat low energy vegetation they'll need a lot, versus high protein/calorie food products that get processed easier into energy. Snorlax also enjoys restaurants that also serve the Pokemon, as it can enjoy human-based food as treats.

Alakazam and Weavile are simple diets like Lucario and Croagunk. Mismagius doesn't need to eat but can "ingest" a treat if she wants to. Salamence needs more due to size but can eat fruits, root veggies, eggs, and meat.

And then there is Raikou, Entei, and Latios. Two big cat carnivores and one long-migration Pokemon, all legendaries. There is not enough information about this Pokemon, and people who train legendaries are but a handful. Anabel needs a properly licensed certificate alone for Salamence and Snorlax. She needs a VERY SPECIAL certification and Trainer ID to even allow for her rare, precious, and intense legendary creatures-- and to prove that she can take proper care of them.

They are like endangered species mixed with cryptids, and their diets can be specialized. Thankfully, however, Latios is easy to feed with a similar diet to Salamence except with less meat. He often finds food on his own, however. Raikou and Entei can have meat at home, but would much rather hunt for their own food. That being said, they also seem to gain energy from volcanic activity and thunderstorms, as they are still a rather mystical species. Anabel is weary about letting them hunt for themselves, because they fall under an invasive species or something akin to letting your cat be an outdoor cat so that it kills all the birds in the area (Not cool. Stop making your cat an outdoor cat.)

But if anything, Latios, Raikou, and Entei are very, very intelligent. They don't overhunt; they take what they need from the earth and repay it. They rely on the energy of the planet as well as the energy of their diet, so they are three independent Pokemon that keep themselves fed.

Even so, with International Police and the League Associations, Anabel can breathe easy that she's not breaking the bank just to keep her Pokemon fed. Just as long as she's following regulations and providing research info on rare species, a lot of her food costs as subsidized or her Pokemon are taken care of when she uses the PC to send them over to a general caretaker.

Burnet and Wicke in Alola provide free health screenings on her Legendaries as they are the only ones Anabel trusts, and they want to work with such increadible Pokemon!

And that's what I have in terms of Pokemon husbandry. It can be rather difficult to upkeep such increadible creatures without extra help, so this is probably why so many people have one or two Pokemon that are considered more pet-like than anything.

TFP Ratchet geting a lecture about self experemtation from IWD Ratchet being raather embarrassed by his actions whilst on SynthEn. The look on his face when his counterpart asked him why didn't he just use a solar converter to make energon. "Keeping your Energon levels that frelling low long tearm! No wonder you were so processor addled that you taking an experimental stimulant was a good Idea! Why in the Pit didn't you just drink mid grade energon converter?!"

IWD Ratchet got picked up and shaken because "you have that!? How dose it work?! I need blueprints! If we could convert solar energy into energon it—What the Frag did you do to your hands!? Do you not understand how critical hand maintenance is for medics?!"

"My team neaded the materials for parts more Slaghead! What if material I'd wasted on my self could have saved a fellow Autobot! Wait you were trying to brew an energon substitute not a stimulant?!"

"Yeah, bolts for brains, and my team needed the energon for repairs more than I needed a full tank. Now sit down shut up and let me see just how much of the damage I can fix!"

Meanwhile IWD Drift, Rodimus, Perceptor, and Ultra Magnus are watching in awe along with TFP Team Prime and the kids.

AHAHDKAKSHHDHSJ Thats so perfect. Crossovers are one of my favorite things in general there are so many things that would happen with just TFP and IDW alone.

I can only imagine they met when TFP ratchet on synthen somehow got the materials needed to make some sort of multiverse portal and ran in head first causing everyone else to go after him. They end up on the lost light. Chaos ensues.

Not only just ratchet v ratchet arguing about their choices when the chips were down, think about how the TFP crew would react to Megatron being on the ship. I think Miko would immediately start insulting him and that would go over as well as you’d think.

The rescue bots didn't have time to flinch before the relic activated.

Heatwave came back to consciousness to Dani putting stitches in the neck of a screaming and wriggling nine year old, the painkillers clearly working a little too well on the struggling boy.

"Kid! Kid, stop, you are going to drown in your own blood if you don't stop moving. Dad, help me. Kade, check on the bots."

Kade offered Heatwave- a hand? And he took it, noting his now brown skin. Brown was the wrong word for it, but all he could think of to describe it was food names, and that wouldn't go over well with the audience of this fic. Anyway, Heatwave was now Hispanic with salt and pepper hair, and Blades is an aged up version of his canon holoform. Please don't murder the author over the character descriptions. He's the color of boiled chicken and can't describe a human being to save his life.

Chase was white with black hair and blue eyes, and Boulder was also white with grayish brown hair and a big smile. There, all the information you need, now let's move back to the boy vomiting up blood all over Dani.

Surprise, the boy had, in fact, started vomiting up blood that he had previously swallowed. He had also started to claw at Charlie, who was pinning him to Blades's stretcher so the gash in his neck could be sutured and stitched shut. On Charlie's orders, Graham removed a sedative from Dani's medical bag and handed it to her. She stepped back from the stretcher, measured out a low dose, and injected it into the boy's thigh.

After a few more seconds of thrashing, the boy relaxed, and Charlie stepped away from the stretcher and helped Kade with the transformed Rescue Bots. Miraculously, the vehicle modes were separated from the new humans, and the former Bots were all unharmed but confused.

Luckily, the town was cued into the alien thing, so this fic won't be a nightmare to write.

Blades, who were the last to wake up, rushed to Dani's side. "Dani, what can we do?"

"The laceration missed all major arteries but shredded the vocal chords. As much as I hate using chemical restraints, having dad help me was making him even more distressed, and his vitals were already not great. He's stable now, and you can keep an eye on him while I fly the helicopter back to the mainland." Dani had gotten the stretcher into the helicopter while she was talking, getting into the pilot's seat.

A very tired sounding Optimus redirected Dani to a military base near the Canadian border. There, she wasn't surprised to see Ratchet's alt mode and a grumpy human that looked exactly as you would expect a humanized Ratchet to look like.

An old white man with red glasses and graying ginger hair, with a five year old white boy that was dressed as if he had stepped away from a NASCAR pit crew, minus the dirt and stains, clinging to his lab coat. Ratchet had track marks in his elbows, a leftover from his brief experiments with Syth-en. Smokescreen was shaking, a very patient June crouched next to him, trying to convince him to let Ratchet go.

Ultra Magnus had none of it, the man pulling him away with a yank on his shoulder. His military general dress uniform was impeccably clean, though Miko wiped her sticky, powder sugar-coated hands on the tail of his jacket before handing Smokescreen a jelly glazed one. Apparently, they had stopped for Dunkin Donuts.

Ultra Magnus ran a hand through his short black hair, bemoaning Smokescreen's longer cut. They could have easily passed for father and son, and now that the author thinks about it, Chase looked a lot like Magnus too...

That's besides the point, Bumblebee is nine and was puking blood ten minutes ago.

Optimus picked the former bot now identified as Bumblebee up and carried him into Unit E's military hospital, careful to make sure that Bee's head was angled in a way that he wouldn't choke if more blood came up.

The doctors confirmed Dani's theory, and besides a neck brace and some pain medication, there was nothing they could do to repair the boy's vocal chords.

Bee woke up in a hastily thrown together bedroom, Optimus waking up at the sound of Bee's strained gurgle, pink tinged drool trailing down his neck. Optimus wiped it away and sat him up, where he threw up nothing but bile. June came in with some water and rubbed Bumblebee's back while he drank in small sips. Luckily, he kept it down well enough to try some food from June's bag, which he gobbled down eagerly with his medicine.

"The Decepticons are human too." Optimus said. "I am shipping out tonight with some Marines to kill him. If I want to keep him and Smokescreen in our care, I have to go. Bee, hopefully I will see you in two weeks. If not, Fowler will help to get you and Smokescreen into good foster homes." Bumblebee reached for a hug, and Optimus wrapped him in one, pulling the hood over his cleaned and returned cat-eared yellow hoodie. Bee smiled, and June pulled out two somethings she had picked up for him when she went shopping for Smokescreen and Bee.

Bee snatched the Minecraft bee plush as if he was afraid June would take it back, burying his face in the soft plush, a goofy smile on his face.

"And, I have something else too. I was talking with some of the medical staff, and we decided that this might be the best option for the time being." June pulled out a tablet in a blue case. "Bee, this tablet has a special software package called an AAC. Through it, it has thousands of words programed into it that you can use to speak without speaking. Of course, if you want to learn and use sign language, that is completely up to you, and we can arrange that. But, for now, this might make communication easier if you are up to using it. It's also a normal cheap kids tablet, so if you decide you don't like it, I can take the software off, and you can use it like an iPad."

"Yes. Want. Will learn. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Crap. Vagina. Stomach. " Clearly, Bumblebee liked it.

"June, why the swear words and organs?" Optimus asked.

"The software isn't able to be age locked, and it's not like Bumblebee doesn't know what those words mean."

"Yeah, you're right." Optimus got up and left to get packed up to ship out to the downed Nemesis.

Spoiler alert, assassinations are a lot easier when sniper rifles are an option. The war was over in literally three gunshots. Optimus had a laugh over Predaking being turned into a Great Dane wearing a harness with foam butterfly wings. He fell asleep on Optimus's feet on the way back to base, the Burns being gifted a very big lapdog.

Fowler arranged for the purchase of a big old house on Griffin Rock for Ratchet, Optimus, and Bumblebee, who were very happy to live out their old gay couple and adopted son dreams on an island where nobody even batted an eye at them.

Chase took in Smokescreen and Strongarm, who oddly enough was fifteen, a seventeen year old Sideswipe staying with a forty year old Grimlock at the junkyard.

Ultra Magnus joined the military as a strategist, Wheeljack as a ballistics expert.

Breakdown and Knockout opened a luxury auto body shop.

Arachnid, unsurprisingly, continued being a horrifying serial killer and is still at large to this day, though she is buried behind Knockout's auto body shop after she tried to kill Breakdown yet again.

Also, Knockout did give Arcee Arachnid's skull and hands as trophies, but if anyone asks, Optimus definitely doesn't know about it and certainly doesn't have Megatron's brain in a jar in his closet.

I always have mocked Dom, from his lack of sense of humor (especially for a “standup comedian”), to his books (and now his podcast) that he rides on the fame of his child . But that being said , this is engagement news , so it is a big thing therefore he is allowed to mention it this one time.

Claire annoys me with her personality type. On a daily basis, she posts self-help quotes that take a shot at her exes, but never seem to post anything about improving her own shortcomings. It’s always a blame game with her. And that tells me that she brings her own dose of toxicism into her relationships. And she cursed at small businesses, low income earning employees on her big social media platform which is big thanks to her daughter’s fans. And now she cursed at people who sent her congratulatory messages after the gigantic news of her ultra famous daughter being engaged.

It should be understandable that people will send her messages about Z’s engagement but she snaps at any inconvenience and she does it publicly on her BIG platform. External and Environmental Causes of Hair Loss

Many factors can disrupt the hair growth cycle and lead to increased shedding such as:

Poor nutrition

Infection

Medication reactions

Stress

Menopause

Constantly wearing hats

Hormonal Causes of Hair Loss

There is a link between low testosterone levels and issues such as a lower sex drive and poor sexual wellness.

Low-T is a factor and can be caused by conditions like diabetes, autoimmune disease, and thyroid disease.

The following can also cause a temporary dip in testosterone levels:

Over-exercising

Poor nutrition

Certain medications

Testerone Hormone Treatment (often called HRT or TRT) comes with potential side effects, and in some people, it may trigger hair loss.

High testerone causes hair loss, so more T isn't better. Stay with your doctor's instructions. Don't mess around with your dose.

Genetics influence how sensitive your hair follicles are to circulating dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a byproduct of testosterone and one of the most potent androgens (male sex hormones).

Testosterone and DHT are interlinked, and when T levels rise, DHT levels typically rise as well.

Researchers noted in a 2017 study that was done in Germany, which backs up previous research suggesting that developing bald spots from male pattern baldness might have more to do with sensitivity to testerone than the level itself.

Testerone converts a small amount of what is in your body into DHT by way of the 5-alpha reductase enzyme, which is found in small amounts in the body.

Secondary sex characteristics: any physical characteristic developing at puberty that is not directly involved in reproduction.

Why do we have DHT?

In young males, the body needs DHT to ensure the healthy development of the genitals and prostate. Ftm trans people obviously do not have testicles or a prostate. We focus on secondary sex characteristics like voice, muscle mass, and body hair.

As an adult? DHT doesn’t really have a large job to do anymore. Therefore, it can cause problems, like hair loss. In fact, researchers have found more DHT in balding scalps compared to non-balding ones. But not every guy’s hair follicles are ultra-sensitive to this sex hormone.

The more testosterone, the higher the levels of DHT in your body. That’s not necessarily a death sentence for your hair, but it is a fact.

DHT can attach to receptors in the scalp and gradually shrink hair follicles until they can no longer produce hair — a process known as follicular miniaturization.

If you have a genetic predisposition to DHT sensitivity, too much of it can cause hair loss.

While TRT doesn’t directly cause hair loss, increased Testosterone can lead to androgenic alopecia if the patient has a genetic sensitivity to the hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone).

Androgenic alopecia is also known as male-pattern baldness and female-pattern baldness. Is the most common cause of hair loss in men and women.

Diagnosing Your Androgenic Alopecia

The first step to avoiding hair loss on HRT is to identify whether you have a genetic sensitivity to DHT. If you don’t, then it’s unlikely that HRT (and a resulting increase in DHT levels) will trigger hair loss.

Male-pattern baldness most often occurs in an M-shaped pattern starting at the forehead. It may also manifest as a slowly growing bald spot on the top/crown of the head. If you notice either of these patterns in your hair, then it’s possible you have male-patterned baldness.

Because androgenic alopecia is a genetic condition, you can also look at your family line for any signs of hair loss, as well. A common myth is that hair loss is inherited from the mother’s side, but in actuality, both parents can pass down the genes that lead to androgenic alopecia. This condition is polygenic, meaning it comes from multiple genes rather than just one.
