Dream

Lemaine found herself in front of a mirror. Turning, she found herself surrounded by mirrors. Looking at her face, it felt...off. Like there was something wrong with it, but she couldn't place it. A voice rang out, asking a simple question, three easy words.

"Who are you?"

Without really thinking, as one does in a dream, Lemaine reached up and peeled off her face...but it wasn't her face. It was a mask. She dropped it on the floor, looking again. It still didn't look right.

Again the voice spoke. "Who are you?"

Again the mask underneath was peeled off. The process repeated, again and again and again and again, until the masks piled up to her knees, her waist, her shoulders.

"Who are you?"

There was a sudden nudge in her mind, and she woke with a start to see Milon standing by her, holding her wrists firmly.

"What..."

"You were disturbed," Milon said, releasing her wrists. "It woke me up. I looked over and saw you scratching your face. I had to wake you up before you hurt yourself. Talk to me."

i know everyone hates byron but…i think he’s neat…

something about how byron broke away from the psi corps and almost immediately remade their societal hierarchies with him in place of the corps/mother/father is interesting to me. i feel like s5 - especially the telepath plot in s5 - was too fast-paced/rushed to really convey that thoroughly. but i see it. don’t worry miss gordon i saw your deep thought provoking plot about cycles of violence.

Really, really not a fan of how much I've INTERNALIZED "respect is irrelevant" as a baseline rule of thumb for how other people treat me. I'm genuinely shocked when someone actually wants me to feel respected because to me it genuinely does not matter all that much in the grand scheme of things whether I do or don't. In my mind, people are not just welcome but encouraged to steamroll whatever I might want if it gets in the way of a larger plan.

I have a complicated mixture of positive and negative feelings about my service to the Vorlons but fuck you, Ulkesh, you purple piece of shit.

What is Shadow Weaver’s long game? Honestly I have no idea but I remain suspicious of her motives though honestly, at this point, I think I’d be more pleasantly surprised to find she has turned fully away from Evil and we’re (I’m) just not seeing it because I’ve chosen to let her reputation precede her. We’ll see...

I’m concerned about Double Trouble because it seems too easy (lazy?) to just make someone be Double Trouble? This shapeshifter must be empathic as well because there’s no way they could be getting the personalities of their shifted form so well with so little observation time. I’m also wondering if Flutterina was real at all or always a con? Like is she being held prisoner somewhere and that’s how Double Trouble is outed? Or, since this show isn’t about murder and thus the people being mimicked are not now dead bodies in a closet somewhere, does Double Trouble get outed because they’re impersonating too many people so the odds of discovery go way up? Double Trouble doesn’t seem impulsive like Catra but whatever flaw the need for drama is, that’s Double Trouble and that’s what will spell their downfall I imagine (or Catra just misses a payment and suddenly switches sides...for a price, of course)

Listening to Rogelio’s words of wisdom, I find myself wondering how anyone even knows his name is Rogelio. This is like the Chewbacca situation all over again.

But also, why exactly Lonnie, Rogelio, and Kyle anyway? I don’t hate them. I’m just wondering why the show needed them beyond the pilot. Or will they just manage to be the only three soldiers who don’t rebel against the Horde in the end despite having every reason to?

Aw, don’t tell me the Light Hope we’ve had thus far was the Kosh and now, after that reboot, we’re dealing with the Ulkesh version...

Title is pretty self-explanatory. Who is the best (or at least your favourite) Babylon 5 character?

I didn't want to leave anyone out because all the characters add something vital to the story, so there will be 32 options, half of which I'll post today and the other half tomorrow.
