The first sign of a nuclear war
Conventional wars are so different from a nuclear war. It is rare to see nuclear-payload-carrying weapons in them. Yet, if these weapons are used, they carry the message that a nuclear war could be on the devilish mind of the aggressor. Ukraine became the recipient of such message on November 21st as Russia fired ominously an intercontinental ballistic missile, aka ICBM, at the Ukrainian city of…

Where are all those liberals with the Doomsday Clock and anti war sentiment. If 911 taught us nothing else it taught us that ANYTHING can happen. Heaven help us all.
Russia has allegedly launched an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) at a Ukrainian city for the first time, an expensive but potentially potent reminder by the Kremlin that it has a large reserve of nuclear-capable weapons which can strike form thousands of miles away.
The central-Ukrainian city of Dnipro was struck by a single ICBM missile in the early hours of Thursday morning Ukraine claims, part of a broader air raid that state media said also saw one air-launched ballistic missile and seven air-launched cruise missiles fired at the city. The Ukrainian government has not made an official statement on casualties in the “massive attack” but said they managed to shoot down six of the cruise missiles in-flight.
The launch of an ICBM is claimed by Ukraine’s air force to have come from the Astrakhan Oblast, which borders the Caspian Sea. The launch has not been corroborated by Western states observing the conflict, the United Kingdom has called it unconfirmed, for instance. Russia has yet to confirm or deny an conventional explosive armed but nuclear-capable ICBM launch, apparently the latest sabre-rattling move by the state as it bids to discourage further Western involvement in Ukraine.
While claiming there was “no significant damage” caused, nevertheless Ukraine also stated a city medical facility and an industrial area were hit. Sergiy Lysak, the head of the regional administration said in a statement that: “Since early morning, the aggressor has massively attacked the region. Information about the consequences is being clarified. At the moment, it is known about damage to an industrial enterprise in Dnipro. There were also two fires in the city.”
Ukraine called the attack an attempt to damage the city’s “critical infrastructure” . Meanwhile, just 70 miles away a power interconnector for the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was cut in an air strike. This left the plant with just one backup power supply.
A loss of external power can be catastrophic for a nuclear plant because the control systems that govern the reaction process — and which can crash-stop it in an emergency — cannot safely rely on the power the plant itself produces and need redundancy. The Zaporizhzhia plant has been occupied by Russian forces for several years and is presently run by Russian nuclear company Rosatom, one of the few Russian businesses that has been untouched by Western sanctions as Russia is a massive global player in the supply of Uranium, needed by nuclear power plants everywhere.
ussia has stated that it considers precision attacks against military or political targets inside the Russian Federation an act of war by the states providing the weapons, even if they are launched by a third party. How far Russia is willing to take this nuclear sabre-rattling is unclear: at several points through this conflict the Kremlin has expressed its displeasure at Western nations involving themselves in what it clearly considers a private war but never followed through with threats on issues like the supply of tanks, earlier missiles, and jet fighters.
Yet long-range missile strikes inside Russia may be taken a lot more seriously inside the Kremlin. Talks about the policy of whether to give Ukraine permission to engage in such attacks against their invader have gone back months, and key moments have been met with Russian reminders that they ultimately hold a trump card against attempts to bring down the Putin state.
When Zelensky was in Washington in September to ask for long-range strikes, Russia appeared to respond by saying it was reviving its nuclear doctrine to create a state of co-responsibility for attacks by American-backed states. In October Russia issued what very much looked like a reminder of what it holds in reserve and had never yet deployed in anger, a considerable armoury of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, conducting continent-spanning test-firings.
A land-launch of a Yars ICBM from Plesetsk to Archangesk (pictured, top) demonstrated a range of 3,500 miles, with Russia publishing quantities of footage showing the launch of several nuclear-capable missiles. The Yars is Russia’s newest ICBM, part of the development of their first such new weapon since the end of the Cold War, with the 3,500 mile flight only around half of its claimed maximum range, designed to strike deep into the United States if required.
Then earlier this week, as the U.S. was stated to have signed off on strikes on the Russian interior with American-made missiles in Ukrainian hands, Vladimir Putin signed off on that new nuclear doctrine, a further message to the West.
While today’s alleged launch and strike serves a warfare rather than training purpose, the use of an ICBM to deliver a conventional warhead rather than a considerably cheaper and less sophisticated tactical ballistic or cruise missile is a pointed further message from Russia to the West.
Poland, one of the European states closest to the fighting and perhaps taking the most alarmist state about Russian territorial ambitions — it is practically a matter of faith in Polish defence circles that Moscow has designs on Poland, should it succeed in Ukraine — appears to have reacted to the Thursday morning launch, scrambling fighters and and land-based defence systems.
A statement from the Polish Air Force, which operates F-16 jets, said Thursday: “Attention, due to another attack by the Russian Federation, which is carrying out strikes on objects located, among others, in western Ukraine, Polish and allied aircraft have begun operating in our airspace… the Operational Commander of the RSZ activated all available forces and resources at his disposal, the on-duty fighter pairs were scrambled, and the ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems reached the highest state of readiness.”
How ironic it would be for America to be destroyed fighting for some 3rd World Shidt Hole that up until 10 minutes ago was famous only for its lack of real democracy and corruption.

The use by Russia of a ballistic missile with a MIRVed warhead—optionally IRBM or ICBM at Russia’s discretion—was a very serious shot across the bow, directed to the two nations that have chosen to go to war with Russia. The Russian strike was a demonstration—it was a kinetic strike rather than an explosive one. The question on many minds has to be, What comes next? The Russians specifically stated that they have an interest in destroying a US missile site in Poland. But that’s just one target in Europe on what is probably a very long Russian list. What comes next is up to the “small group of people” who are pursuing the war on Russia.
For an informed and impassioned monologue on what it means and what’s at stake, check out Danny Davis:
BREAKING: Putin - "Our Missiles CANNOT be Intercepted"
Davis warns that even for Trump there will be no easy peace. Putin holds all the high cards. Stop being stupid is Davis’ advice.
Philip Pilkington adds to this with a series of smart tweets:
Philip Pilkington @philippilk These missiles - likely MIRVs - look faster and more accurate than what Iran sent against Israel. The likely outcome of giving Ukraine permission for long-range strikes is similar advanced tech to US rivals in the Mid East. Biden is not motivated by US security concerns.
There was just one missile, but with a MIRVed warhead. I’d be very surprised if Russia shared its MIRV tech with any Middle Eastern nation. However, the possibility that Russia further responds by sharing additional weaponry above and beyond what the Pentagon has openly admitted is “scary” is a real prospect.
PUTIN: OUR "FRONTIER MISSILES" CAN HIT ALL OF EUROPE Russia is preparing to deploy RS-26 "Frontier" missiles, capable of striking anywhere in Europe, in retaliation for Ukraine’s use of US and UK-made missiles, including Storm Shadows, on Russian soil. Kremlin officials warn of strikes on Ukraine's critical infrastructure, with Putin recently easing laws for deploying nuclear weapons. The RS-26 has a 3,600-mile range and 3 times the payload of standard Kremlin bombs, marking a major escalation in the conflict. Source: Daily Mail
Philip Pilkington @philippilk Europe is now going to be targeted by the sort of MIRVs the Russians just launched on Ukraine. These missiles can overcome air defence, but Europe has no air defence anyway. Biden and his goons just demolished European security. These people are a major security risk.

I do keep seeing posts that say "whys Joe even funding Israel except that he loves Genocide" or "Why is there discussion of leaving NATO in the senate survey" and like. Here. Let me explain this to you. (DISCLAIMER: I hate Joe Biden I'm just doing this because understanding your opponents motivations makes it so you can more effectively fight them)
When you're President, issues are not just single simple issues. Theres a shitton of moving parts, and he cant be obvious about his awareness of all these parts for transparency's sake because that also gives his enemies (which would include those of us who want Both Parties Gone) an upper hand. Joe Biden views Israel as a necessary US base of operation in the middle east to defend the USA in case of an attack by China and (more pressing lately) Russia.
See, with Russia attacking Ukraine, Ukraine is thinking of joining NATO as a means of better defending itself. They've been talking about it for ages but really started getting the ball rolling when Putin attacked. NATO is a treaty organization which, if Ukraine does join, all the other members of NATO would be forced to come to its aid (i.e., literally all of them would be considered At War With Russia). On top of this, Russia has strong allies with a lot of anti-USA powers, including China. I wouldnt even be surprised if North Korea shows up. If this is starting to ring bells relating to the world wars in history class, good, because thats exactly what this scenario would entail. Another, open world war. Yes people scream 'world war 3' over the tiniest provocation but its just as foolish to claim its impossible. Add in that Putin has said he will gladly use nukes if he has to, and...well. you can put two and two together. It wont be a pretty picture.
Anyways, the middle east is, and has been, a central point in our proxy wars against Russia for ages. This is both because of the resources (oil) there, as well as its potential as a strong base of defense for the west against the east. Israel in particular is USA's biggest military defense resource, as they have a shit-ton of anti-ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile) capabilities. Simply put, they serve as a bulwark against the forces of the east. They're also one of the biggest deterrants against all-out world war; because if anyone DOES try to send a nuke out west, we'll just blow it up before it hits us and then have Israel nuke them back, with far less time to defend.
So lets put ourselves in Joe's shoes knowing all of this. It starts to feel a bit like he HAS to keep giving Israel what they want in order to prevent world war 3 and/or nuclear holocaust, huh? This should also clarify why he said "If there were not an Israel in the middle east we would have to make one", and why he reportedly is very upset with all the Palestinean death yet still gives Israel weapons. Its a shitty appeasement tactic with an eye on global politics. (Side note: astute readers may also note that the actions regarding China are part of this, including the tik tok ban. They are correct.)
But does this make his actions correct? Fuck no. As many have noted Israel wouldnt even be able to continue existing without assistance from America, and Israel would likely be the first place to be destroyed by Russia if they seek to win, if it were weakened sufficiently. Meaning Joe could EASILY turn the tables on Israel and threaten to (or actually) cut them off and say "Fine, if you want to go that way then enjoy the hellfire that comes for us all, chuck." He could also decide to start rebuilding relations with China despite our differences, and therefore deprive Russia of allies in the world war 3 scenario. He could also build up these same defense systems in another middle eastern allied country (which I'd be against because colonialism is part of the problem). And that's simply taking it from the perspective of Joe, I, personally, do not think that America should remain in its current form. It has far more blood on its hands than just the Palestinean blood, and its destruction (preferably without nukes) could allow better things to take root.
Anyways, like I said, this is so that we might better defeat our enemies, so if you're wondering what the implications here are, I'd say start getting involved in politics at a local level. Not just protests, go to city council meetings! Its mostly boring stuff but once you get a hold on what it all means (and you will!) You'll start to see ways to shift the American culture away from this war-dependent fascistic society which has been surging so terrifyingly. You will start to see the glimmers of hope which shine through the sludge that it is American Politics.
Anyways if someone says this is a pro-Biden post im going to stab you with a million knives.

“1980's Gentleman Jim introduced the Bloggs, a couple trying to make their way amid the trials and tribulations of the working class day-to-day, envisioning a life beyond their station. Though given a tough go at it, the Bloggs — inspired by Briggs' similarly-surnamed parents — persevered, their story as silly as it was heartbreaking, pushed on, almost, by Briggs' playful illustrations.
This was a multi-hyphenate creator who lent himself to social realism, capturing the gritty real lives of everyday people; that his prism was whimsical watercolour in children's picturebooks made his work all the more accessible. No example can be better than the film adaptation of his 1982 work When the Wind Blows.
Emerging from a period of Cold War mudslinging that threatened to hit devastating critical mass, When the Wind Blows confronts the well-meaning Bloggs with the unspeakable horrors of nuclear conflict.
It's an unflinching piece, brimming not with political fury but cold truth. Briggs doesn't imagine humanity emerging from the rubble of devastation to rebuild a better world. The landscape is rendered a scorched wasteland, the queasy smell of burning flesh carried by the wind. Propaganda is puppetry, or so the moral goes; nobody will survive the bomb, not even the harmless grannies pottering about in their allotments.
(…)
Fiction speculating on the impending nuclear holocaust is frightening because it isn't outside the realm of belief. I can't imagine what it might've been like to see something like When the Wind Blows back in the late-'80s, when tensions with the USSR surged, Reagan denouncing the Russians as an “evil empire,” and the doomsday clock ticked towards an early curtain call. But of course, it rushed back to mind — as with Threads, and indeed The Day After, seen by 100 million Americans when it premiered in 1983 — in the wake of the Ukraine crisis, with Putin ordering his nuclear forces on high alert, and Russian state media sabre rattling with the threat of ICBMs. (Christ, you'd think climate change was enough.)”
“As a full blown antiwar broadside, When The Wind Blows is hugely effective and deeply affecting. The sheer ordinariness of the old couple and the utter devastation that is visited on their world by the nuclear strike means the horror really hits home.
(…)
Directed by Jimmy Murakami and boasting a quality soundtrack that embraces everything from David Bowie to Roger Waters and even Squeeze, this remains one of the most emotionally draining “cartoons” you’ll ever see. Unleavened by any real humour, it’s bleak but strangely beautiful.”

Let Russia play around with its toys for too long and they will eventually have the capability to strike ANYWHERE THEY WANT, AT ANY TIME THEY WANT. It will start with the capability of nuclear strikes on Western European soil, then the West Coast of the US, then the ability to send a nuke anywhere on earth, at the whim of a child-like dictator who is all hot and bothered that his grand-pappy Stalin had his sandbox taken away from him.
I mean. I agree with your basic sentiment but the time to post this paragraph was, like, the mid-1950s at the absolute latest. Russia has at least nominally had the ability to send a nuke anywhere on Earth for the last 65-ish years; I think the earliest generation ICBMs were at least slow enough to set up and fuel that there was theoretically time to take out the launch sites first and ballistic missile submarines and solid fuel missiles that could hit the entire globe at a moment's notice were a slightly later development, but Russia has had the ability to nuke all of the US and Europe for longer than the vast majority of this website has been alive, and even many of the old men and women in positions of power have spent their entire lives, or at least their entire adult lives, living under a constant threat of this happening. The threat of Mutually Assured Destruction is not a new, vague sometime in the future danger, it's something that has defined the political and cultural development of the last 70+ years.
This is extremely important because it is literally the entire reason why Western politicians have been so chickenshit about "escalating" the Ukraine vs Russia war. Russia's latest action isn't a warning of future capability, it's an attempt to further scare Western countries out of resisting its aggression by trying to convince them it's willing to use the capability it already has. I think it's a bluff that needs to be called, but it's necessary to understand what the context of attacks like this is.
Today, Ukraine became the first. The first country in the world against which an intercontinental ballistic missile was used.
let's goooo незламний народе first in everything amirite -----------------------------------
no one cares
I don't care what you say. This is the harsh truth. No one gives a fuck if our nation lives or dies.
To use intercontinental missile to strike Dnipro. That's gotta be the most ridiculously expensive temper tantrum ever.

Mass Desertions Over Radiation Could End the War in Ukraine
CounterPunch, Barbara G. Ellis, November 29, 2024 NATO leaders have been dithering about Russia’s recent retaliation against Ukraine’s lofting one of Lockheed’s long-range missiles deep into its interior. Their emergency huddle was about Putin’s new multi-missile (“Oreshnik “) which traveled 10 times the speed of sound (range: 310-3,400 miles) to hit a former ICBM factory . So far, either side…

As claimed by Dmitry Medvedev via the Security Council of Russia to declare the escalation of WWIII following the unstinted assaults of ATACMS to hit the redline territory of Russia, the escalation of next borderless assault may be boosted by the launching of ICBM from Europe to blast the occupied regions in Eastern Ukraine amid the ascending bombardments of Russia to Ukraine at this time before the full disintegration of Kyiv to surrender its whole territory to the invasion of Russia. However the unpreparedness of NATO in particular the delivery of the projected long range hypersonic missiles appears its fallacious tactical manoveure in confronting the next bombardment of ORESHNIK hypersonic warheads to attack London and the military bases in Europe. It is the final card for Biden to reverse the fading hegemony of America under the hawk resolution of WWIII amid the plangent ultimatum of the nuke explosion of Russia instead of relying on the nonexistent truce resolution of Trump to ruin the projected hegemonic recalibration of America. As signed by Putin to enforce the amended nuke protocol for military retaliation against the recent attacks of midrange missiles from UK and America, the ratified war decree of Kremlin can be deemed as the inception of WWIII to lock the war zone in London, Alaska as well as the military base of America in Japan. In other words, London and Washington DC are now under the looming exigency of WWIII. As the war will impede the presidential interregnum at the Whitehouse, the remaining presidency of Biden may be prolonged to complete the final warfare of America before leaving the office. The peace resolution of Ukraine comes from the verdict of WWIII for its undecided destiny. In short, the interim presidency of Biden is hereby obligated to accomplish the war mission under the coordination of Trump Presidency. This should receive the endorsement of international to support the peace resolution for Ukraine via WWIII.

NVIDIA Earnings & Putin's Missiles: Forex Traders Brace! Breaking Down the Chaos in the Markets (with a Smile) Alright, Forex fanatics, it's been a day filled with market drama, geopolitical backflips, and more surprises than a magician's hat. The stock market ended up higher, but not without a rollercoaster ride of twists that had traders gripping their seat handles (and probably refreshing their news apps). Let's unravel the madness and see where the hidden trading opportunities lie. A Nuclear Scare or Just a Firework? Putin Keeps Everyone Guessing Imagine this: you're all set to watch NVIDIA (NVDA) earnings, fingers crossed, when suddenly, there's breaking news that Russia just launched a missile at Ukraine. It's the kind of news that can really shake the marketsand your nerves! Initial reports described the missile as an ICBM (the kind of missile that makes you rethink your risk management strategy), but later, Western officials and even Mr. Putin himself clarified it was just an intermediate-range one. Nothing to worry about, right? Apparently, Wall Street thought so, too, as risk appetite improved by the end of the day. Here's the thing: geopolitical jitters can send currency markets into a tailspin, but they also provide some juicy trading setups. You can bet that every Forex trader with an eye on the ruble was riding this wave, either running for cover or seeing it as an opportunity to buy when the market had a momentary freak-out. Hidden gem of the day? Keep your cool, and watch for when traders overreact to political headlines. These moments are often followed by a "market hangover," and that's where savvy traders cash in. NVIDIA Earnings: A Blowout, But What About the Dollar? You'd think NVIDIA's stellar earnings would be all roses and sunshine, but the reaction was more like watching a bungee jumper—up, down, and finally settling higher. The tech giant exceeded expectations, which was good news for the NASDAQ (+0.36%) and broader stock market, but how does this translate for Forex traders? Here's the scoop: stronger tech earnings often translate to increased risk-on sentiment, boosting high-yielding currencies like the Aussie dollar (AUD) or even the New Zealand dollar (NZD). So, while everyone else was celebrating NVIDIA's graphics cards, you could've been hopping into some risky long AUD trades. Because let's face it, in Forex, it's all about riding those risk-on, risk-off vibes. Fed Rumors and Trump: Kevin Warsh in the Mix? It wouldn’t be a trading day without some good old Fed drama. Apparently, President-elect Trump is considering Kevin Warsh as Treasury Secretary and possibly Fed Chair (a two-for-one deal!). What does this mean for traders? Well, Warsh is known for having a bit of a hawkish streak, which means if he steps in, it could make the US dollar dance to a different tune. For now, the market seems to be taking a “wait-and-see” approach, which in trader language means, "we’ll freak out later when this becomes official." But there’s more—Fed's Goolsbee, a 2025 voter, hinted that interest rates could end up lower in the coming year, which feels like a soft promise that the Fed may hit the brakes on hikes soon. Translation for Forex? Think about some dollar shorts in the medium term. And maybe, just maybe, the labor market is heading towards "stable full employment." (Whatever that means, right?) How Do You Trade This Madness? The Game Plan Market whipsaws like these can be a little overwhelming. But here’s where the real secret lies—the opportunity is in the volatility, not despite it. Let’s break down some key strategies: - Risk Appetite Swings: Geopolitical events are often like a match to dry wood—instant market moves, but not always long-lasting. Look for high-risk currencies to dip and snap back. This week, the Aussie dollar was a case in point. - Fed Hints = Dollar Twists: The Fed officials' chatter suggests a potential softening of rate hikes, which should keep the US dollar under some pressure. Don’t make the mistake of ignoring the medium-term picture—if Goolsbee's comments are anything to go by, shorts in USD are still on the table. - Ride the Tech Wave: A stellar earnings report from companies like NVIDIA generally means risk-on sentiment increases. High-yielding currencies often catch a bid when tech does well, so keep an eye on the NASDAQ and use it as a sentiment gauge for your Forex trading. Stay Calm, Trade On The market's all about narratives, and sometimes, these narratives sound like they belong in a Hollywood movie. Whether it's missiles being launched, NVIDIA’s earnings, or Trump’s pick for Fed Chair, there’s a lot of noise. Your job? Cut through the noise, find the trading opportunities, and don’t let the daily headlines trip you up. The real edge comes when you learn to love the volatility. After all, it’s during these chaotic moments that the best setups emerge. Be the one who spots the hidden gems while others are still picking up their jaws from the floor. —————– Image Credits: Cover image at the top is AI-generated Read the full article

Russia’s Oreshnik missiles have been in the spotlight since last week, when one of them hit the Ukrainian city of Dnipro and spurred three hours of explosions that damaged the city’s infrastructure. The strike was so strong that Ukrainian officials likened it to that of an intercontinental ballistic missile.
Hours later, Russian President Vladimir Putin publicly bragged about the new weapon, which he characterized as a “conventional intermediate-range” missile that was given the code name Oreshnik and traveled at a speed of Mach 10, which is 10 times the speed of sound and around 2.5 to 3 kilometers per second.
He issued a warning to Russia’s enemies that “there are currently no ways of counteracting this weapon.”
Ukrainian military intelligence has said they believe the missile is a newer ICBM. They report that it traveled at Mach 11 and took 15 minutes to make its way there across a 620-mile journey. It was reportedly equipped with six warheads that boasted six sub-munitions each. They believe Russia has stockpiled up to ten of these missiles.
Either way, these missiles are incredibly fast, reaching their target in just minutes and giving defending militaries very little time to prepare or react. Moreover, because they gain kinetic energy as they follow their arc back down from the atmosphere to their destination, they become more difficult for surface-to-air missile systems to intercept.
Even more alarmingly, the Oreshnik missile is capable of delivering nuclear warheads, which is not a comforting thought at a time when Russia has been increasing its threats of nuclear war amid the ongoing fighting in Ukraine.
