Ubisoft priznaje neuspjeh XDefianta

also ik it's like the new trendy thing or whatever in open world games to NOT have a ton of map icons and just to declutter the map in general, but i genuinely love systematically working through all the activity icons on a game map, i find it very gratifying and productive to be able to visually see at a glance what i have done / have left to do!

Kinda funny that they’re making a Watch Dogs movie now despite that series haven’t really been much spotlight for several years now. They just finished filming it so I guess it’s progressing fine. I think there’s supposed to be a show too as well.
Not that I can blame them I mean they tried a Prince of Persia movie that flopped, that Assassin’s Creed movie got forgotten so quickly.
A rabbids movie? I feel like they’re more than a decade too late on that front not to mention Minions have mostly stolen that niche very successfully. Unless they go the Mario + Rabbids route on that movie but I doubt we’ll see it soon.
I vaguely remember watching Prince of Persia but based on the fact I barely remember it , it was a forgetful movie, haven't seen the assassins creed film so I can't comment on the quality of either film
What I can comment on is the various factors that makes those movies different to Watchdog , or rather the environment they've released in
Prince of Persia came out in 2010. In that same year we got movies such as Scott Pilgrim , Percy Jackson , Clash of the Titans and Tron Legacy. There was also meant to be an ALTA movie but it never got made 😔 Prince of Persia had a lot of competition when it came out, but it stood very little chance against those more memorable flicks
Assassins Creed came out in 2016 along side Batman Vs Superman and the Killing joke , no chance of out competing those
(obviously all these movies did not come out at the same time of year , I'm over simplifying a it)
Heres an important similarity Prince of Persia and Assassins Creed have besides being made by the same company: They're video game IPs
For as long as video games has existed , there was this issue that movie adaptions of popular video games were never gonna be good (Never seen it but the discussion around the 80s Mario movie is a prime example). Whether these films were actually bad or fans just never being satisfied I can't say, I don't have the energy to research and this is already getting long
However that drastically changed when the Sonic Movie came out in 2020
Now obviously we know about ugly Sonic and how close the film could've gone down the cursed game movie path. But it didn't , Paramount listened to the fans and redesigned Sonic (even though that most definitely made people do overwork last minute) which lead to the film being such a success it's getting it's third installment released this year and a TV series spin off
Than we got the Mario Movie , which was also a success and so on and so forth
Now something worth keeping in mind is that , in the 2010s when Prince of Perisa was released , nostalgia bait wasn't as prominent as it is now
Which is why I think the Watch Dogs film , as well as the Rabbids movie, is Ubisoft trying to cash in on the video game nostalgia train. Maybe even using the film's success as a way to test if people will buy a new game

Wreck-Gar should have a Tumblr account. He'd do numbers on here (he would make 0 note flop posts and get doxxed for being British)
It’s okay tho because Rodimus spam reblogs him and Kup is always leaving nice supportive grandpa tags, they’re his cheerleaders fr even if they can barely comprehend the GENIUS takes inside Wreck-Gar’s mind — Wreck-Gar drops a “ubisoft steamworks go bye-bye always on DRM” type post and we all nod and reblog in unison, yes Junkion king 👑🫡

I think I am to a point with Veilguard that I am simply Too Bored by it to actually finish it. I won't lie and say I went into it with high expectations because I absolutely did not, BioWare's last most recent titles not counting remasters and re-releases of their only good games were complete flops for me personally and the internet at large has been preemptively mourning their seemingly inevitable closure for years now. I went in to it with what I believe are the lowest expectations one can have.
In some ways, I was genuinely pleasantly surprised by it. The character creation is one of the best I've seen in a AAA title, it looks nice and the action is serviceably fun.
But the things that are bad about it are more complicated. It isn't an RPG. It's barely even an Action RPG. And I wanted an RPG. Largely because every other game with the words "Dragon Age" in the title, in that order, have all been RPGs. It's saddled with a lot of what I call "Generic AAA Gamer Goop". If you've played a single Ubisoft game in the past 10 years then you should know instinctively what I am referring to by that. As a result it really struggles to have an identity for itself.
I boot it up and get this feeling of ennui, like I'm playing a game that I've already beaten so many times over the course of years that it can't trigger the dopamine receptors in my brain anymore.
I don't gel with the cast. I liked necromancer Vincent Price, he was pretty cool. Harding is benefiting super hard from Inquisition nepotism. I mentioned it before, but it really does feel like she got another characters storyline stapled onto her. Davrin is alright, I liked him and Assan. Other than that, no one else really stood out to me.
Like, I didn't hate anybody certainly, no one in this group was a Sera. It's just, I almost wish someone was? Every was ultimately super duper boring and lacked any real chemistry. I yearn for a party member that is unlikable in a way that is potentially problematic and decisive. Like Astarion. Or Anders. No one here was like that, and it got dull quickly.
I won't comment on the plot because I have not at the time of this writing actually finished the game and frankly do not intend to anytime soon. What I did see of it did not impress me in the slightest.
As I grow older I find handing out numerical scores to my feelings on media is cumbersome and thought destroying, despite having done so on this very blog, so I will not be doing it here and will make a more conscious effort to avoid the trap of doing so in the future.
I can't tell you what your feelings on a given piece of media will be for you or if something will be truly worth your time or money. There are people out there to whom this game is their pick for game of the year and to them I say I only wish I could have enjoyed Veilguard as much as you did.
uh tldr: game mid, 69/420

Okay I’m back…also there is waaay too much toxic positivity in the gaming industry
Also Ubisoft should have put it foot down towards Disney executives and remind them HOW big AC is
I’m sorry but release outlaws in august and shadows in November is like releasing Endgame and TROS two months apart
So the 5 months delays to Valentine Day is what they NEEDED.
At least Ubisoft is launching an investigation to wtf is going with management vs Disney who learned nothing for SW battlefront and SE avengers failures.
Also the discourse about Ghost of Yoeti, the Tsushima sequel. Yeah it weird that they did a 300 years timeskip…and people learned they hired a LBGT va to play the main lead….
…SBI worked on recent Sony sequels like Spider-Man 2….connect the dots
UGH you guys were so focusing the Ubi bashing for choosing Yasuke. You guys thought your precious Jin Sakai was safe. HAHAHA!
I mean if Ghost of Yotei take about another tip from ac2 where there is background lore like codex and crypts that explain what happened between the centuries gap from Altair to Ezio it would be good.
But….what you guys expect? This is SONY, you know the corporation that created the 2016 female ghostbusters movie which kicked off (well put it on) the pop culture gender war?
Okay I’m back…also there is waaay too much toxic positivity in the gaming industry
Even knowing what it means the term just confuses me nearly every time I see it used.
I’m sorry but release outlaws in august and shadows in November is like releasing Endgame and TROS two months apart So the 5 months delays to Valentine Day is what they NEEDED.
gotta make sure everything works just so as well, but ya launching in a dead spot for other launches can only help sales.
At least Ubisoft is launching an investigation to wtf is going with management vs Disney who learned nothing for SW battlefront and SE avengers failures.
That I hadn't heard about yet, interesting and good they're doing that hopefully they find the answers to their questions.
Also the discourse about Ghost of Yoeti, the Tsushima sequel. Yeah it weird that they did a 300 years timeskip…and people learned they hired a LBGT va to play the main lead….
Oh who cares if they're lgbt so long as they do a good job
I mean if Ghost of Yotei take about another tip from ac2 where there is background lore like codex and crypts that explain what happened between the centuries gap from Altair to Ezio it would be good.
They could also just make another game to fill in the gap
But….what you guys expect? This is SONY, you know the corporation that created the 2016 female ghostbusters movie which kicked off (well put it on) the pop culture gender war?
Ya that was going on well before that one dropped, it's incredible how many mediocre pieces of media that fail to meet expectations have their failure blamed on one of the many different isims, phobias, and the like.
We gonna blame the flop that was Wonder Woman 1984 on Antisemitism and misogyny or can we just agree that it just wasn't that good of a movie.
I started it on Tubi and it just could not grab my interest at all, might have made it about half way through it before giving up.
That was a tangent I know but I think it fits too so I'm leaving it, lol

Thoughts on the new chapter of the web comic of ac black flag?
Thank you so much for the previous response!
(I'm glad you enjoyed our rants hahahaha)
So, I forgot to add this in the first post but if you’d like to read the official English version of the webtoon, here you go.
As for my thoughts on the first chapter, here’s the post.
Before I rant about Chapter 2, I need to talk about this:
“Hey, Abstergo, how bad did Devil of the Carribean flop that Noa doesn’t know Edward Kenway??? Did it not get a Korean release???”
Tumblr media
It’s this guy, Noa!
Tumblr media
He’s in the freaking trailer!!!
youtube
Okay that’s the most forgivable 'oversight' they've done so far since, you know, it did flop so maybe it didn’t get an international release. Hey, maybe it’s a ‘so bad it’s good’ kind of cult classic by now XD
Let’s get on with me overanalyzing this webtoon.
Now, I’m going to assume you meant Chapter 2 as it’s the latest free chapter in Webtoons but, for those who didn’t know, they already have more chapters up that can be unlocked. I would suggest that you wait for the free chapters instead if you’re still unsure if you’d like to keep reading the webtoon or, you know, follow Captain Edward Kenway’s footsteps after being privateer didn't pan out XD
Okay, so let’s talk about Chapter 2… (and this may be disjointed and absolutely out of order)
First of all:
Adéwalé is mentioned!!!
Tumblr media
It would be fun if he gets some screentime on this one, maybe save Edward some time or another.
Tumblr media
Same, my man. Same.
Edward is also searching for a lost city in the IndoChina area, supposedly a city of the Isus, and part of the Khmer Kingdom.
Tumblr media
Considering Khmer Kingdom was a Hindu-Buddhist empire, Isus based on Hindu gods (or an interpretation of already existing Isus seen as Hindu gods) could become vital to the story (or just a cameo).
There’s also info about missing ships and I’m betting this is connected to the lost city in some way.
Tumblr media
If this is a case of Tomb Raider Yamatai’s defense mechanism though… come on, Ubisoft. (It’s also possible it’s those masked dudes but my bet is the Yamatai defense mechanism type)
Okay. I have a problem with this one…
Tumblr media
So… I don't think we have confirmation if he has already married Tessa Kenway in this one but is Edward fully embracing that he’s British and not, you know, Welsh? Like, is this the vibe we’re going for here? Or are we going for “Welsh is part of Britain” type of deal and Edward is just calling himself British because, sure, yeah, okay, that’s how people around here know him as? Also, everyone thinks he’s British because of his accent but he’s Welsh in my ears (and maybe it’s not as thick as Catrin-Mai Huw’s Nia but it’s at least around the ballpark of Aimee-Ffion Edwards’ Mio so yeah, he sounds Welsh to me). (To be fair, he was a privateer under the British Crown so maybe this is just me pushing my headcanon that he’s proud to be Welsh).
THE MOST IMPORTANT PART THAT IS MOST PROBABLY JUST MEANT TO BE A REFERENCE:
Tumblr media
I’ve talked about this in the other post before BUT this is most definitely a reference to the temple underneath Alamut. Now, Alamut isn’t in Syria but I’m going to think better of everyone who had a hand in this webtoon and assume that this is not a mistake but a hint that they’re starting to look into it but don’t know the exact location so they’re starting in Syria where the seat of power of the Levantine Brotherhood was. Also, it was Edward who found the temple so this serves as a nodnodwinkwink that they’re not going to find anything and Edward would have to check it himself later on… probably. I don’t know anymore with Ubisoft.
Additional Notes for the other chapters because goddamn it, I wanna talk about some of these already. Primarily, THREE THINGS!
ONE: EDWARD’S EYES GLOW WHEN HE USES THE EAGLE VISION
Tumblr media
And since this is supposed to be canon, it means Eagle Vision making people’s eyes glow when it’s activated is canon! I feel so validated for my headcanon.
Although it looks more red than gold but I’m still going to keep describing the glow as gold because fuck Ubisoft, I'll write what I want XD
TWO: The implication of the name Shimazu
Tumblr media
The lead of the whole ‘let’s abduct this dude and force him to relive Edward’s memories instead of paying him and make him believe it’s for a new game!’ plot is supposed to be this ‘Shimazu’ Sei although the quotation brings into question if she is truly related to the actual Shimazu Clan, it could just be a case of the whole ‘there’s no real evidence that she has Shimazu ancestry but yeah, she actually does’ thing.
So if we go by the idea that the Shimazu Clan is part of the Templar Order, this brings up some insight to the possible Templar activity in Japan because:
The Shimazu Clan is descended from the Minamoto Clan which are pretty much composed of members of the Japanese imperial family that have been removed from the line of succession or taken out of the family itself and became nobles instead. The Shimazu Clan’s Templar roots’ may stem from their exclusion to what they may consider to be their birthright.
The Shimazu Clan’s ancestor is Minamoto no Yoritomo who is the brother of probably the most famous of the Minamoto brothers, Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Why is Yoshitsune famous? He’s known as one of the legendary heroes in Japanese history (although a lot may have been exaggerated at this point) and the Shimazu Clan’s ancestor Yoritomo is sometimes portrayed as going against him which, if Yoritomo is part of the Templar Order/Order of the Ancient, might imply that Yoshitsune was an ally of the Hidden Ones or something similar. (Historically though, they were allies but that might be the whole 'the Templars have muddled the truth' kind of deal)
The Shimazu Clan having Templar ties is also important because they were part of the Western Army in the Battle of Sekigahara which is another nod to AC lore of the Tokugawa Clan and the Eastern Army being allies with the Brotherhood during that time. There was no mention that the Western Army were Templars or Templar allies but, if this ‘Shimazu’ Sei does turn out to be an actual descendant of Clan Shimazu then this would imply the possibility that some (if not most or all) of the Western Army were either Templars or allied with the Templars.
THREE: Edward fighting shinobi-looking fellas
Tumblr media
This gives the vibe that he’s fighting rogue/turncoats Assassins from the Japanese Brotherhood as most shinobis we know of were affiliated with the Brotherhood. I say ‘most’ because the Templars have employed a kunoichi before and Fuuma Kotaro seemed to not be affiliated with the Assassins or the Templars from what I read. So… yeah, might just be shinobis employed by the Shimazu clan as they have said or might be rogue/turncoats Assassins and ‘Shimazu’ Sei is meant to be their descendants. Maybe even both???
Not a mistake but I had assumed that the way of speaking of the characters was a translation choice but this (btw, this isn’t the official translation):
Tumblr media
The Japanese line isn’t bad or unreadable/not understandable (and the English translation is not entirely correct which I assumed they translated from the Korean line that was included below the Japanese line) but it’s not exactly in accordance with the time period. Remember how Edward would say ‘Jay-sus!’ instead of ‘Jesus’ in Black Flag? Or how they speak in certain ways that we don’t use anymore? It’s similar to this considering that this was in 1724~25.
Maybe it’s because I watched a lot of Japanese period dramas but
目撃者を殺す
is too plain in my ears. The literal translation of this is “kill the witness” not “kill the witnesses”.
For a shinobi like this, I feel that translating “kill the witnesses” should be more like this:
すべての目撃者全滅する
That would translate to “Annihilating all eyewitnesses” which has more gravitas.
The more complete line would be “すべての目撃者を全滅する” but it’s more natural at times to remove particles when speaking and this is longer, yes, but that’s usually how they speak in olden times. Since Japan is still in the Edo period, they’d still be using a more archaic way of speaking than what we’re used to. This すべての目撃者全滅する, btw, is already modernized compared to how they should normally speak but it’ll be more ‘believable’ than just 目撃者を殺す.
Or… you know… the mook shinobi is not really a poet nor a reader and I’m thinking too deeply on this.
If you’ve read up to the end, here, have a chibi Edward XD

To Be (Hopefully) Continued - Five Games that Deserve a Sequel
How often have you finished playing through a game and, as the credits roll, find yourself wishing for a sequel? Some games are just too good to leave on their own, and deserve to be continued…and all too many will never get it. Series cancellation, financial flops, developer issues and more can result in no further sequels. Other games simply haven’t had any continuation announced, even though they’ve got stories worth progressing or gameplay styles worth refining. I’ve gathered up a handful of my personal picks for games that really deserve a sequel - feel free to share any of your own opinions on games that you’d add to this list!   Spoilers below!
Tumblr media
Rayman    No, that’s not the guy that cameos in some Rabbids games - it’s the Rabbids that originally came from his series. They may have completely stolen the show since then, but Rayman more than deserves a return to the spotlight. The most recent full game, Rayman Legends, came out way back in 2013. Besides a pair of small mobile runner games released afterwards, Rayman has been left in the dust by Ubisoft. The Rayman games offer a unique, highly-challenging take on the old-school side-scrolling platformer gameplay, with added co-op mayhem making for great party games. The limbless hoodie-clad hero Rayman himself has a distinct style and a colourful supporting cast, plus a vocal fanbase that have waited a decade for new real content. Unfortunately, with Ubisoft recently having to downsize their operations and cancel multiple games, a new Rayman entry doesn’t seem particularly likely considering how little attention they’ve given the IP lately - but fans are still holding out hope!
Tumblr media
Sunset Overdrive    While plenty of games throw you into the deep end of the apocalypse, few make it seem as fun as Sunset Overdrive. One of the lesser-known products of Insomniac Games, Sunset Overdrive may not have the star power of Ratchet or Spider-Man, but I’d say it’s the best example of Insomniac’s over-the-top chaotic humour and combat with unique parkour mechanics on top. Insomniac is currently hard at work on developing their Marvel side of games, with Spider-Man 2 well on its way and Wolverine likely up next, but with 7 different developer teams on board, perhaps there’s room for work on a Sunset sequel for Playstation? The games’ ending didn’t quite wrap up the apocalyptic story, so there’s plenty of opportunity to follow up in another game - hopefully the games’ distinct style and humour will follow along with it!
Tumblr media
Battleborn    If you read that name and thought, “huh?”, you can mostly blame Overwatch for that. One of my personal favourite games of all time, Battleborn chose an unfortunate time to release as it was pretty much instantly overshadowed by Blizzard’s new game that shared minimal similarities with Battleborn. With a tiny albeit dedicated fanbase and overwhelming competition, it's no surprise that Gearbox ultimately had to shut down Battleborn’s servers after struggling to keep the game afloat for five years, rendering it completely unplayable. Set in a universe under siege by interdimensional star-eating horrors known as the Varelsi, Battleborn puts you in control of a ragtag team of rogue soldiers, pirates, aliens and various other misfits as they battle to defend Solus, the last remaining star in the universe. With a handful of possible sequel hints left during the game’s final days (plus Blizzard’s reputation taking quite the dive in recent years), I’m always holding out hope that this creative cast and fascinating world will return one day.
Tumblr media
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy    The adventures of legendary thief - er, treasure hunter, Nathan Drake, may be over; but for a few of his old allies, the adventure is just beginning. Chloe Frazer, a member of Drake’s old team, got a chance to shine in her own spinoff game: Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Teaming up with ruthless ex-mercenary Nadine Ross, the duo explore the ruins of ancient India with the extremist Asav and his army hot on their tail. While the spinoff was shorter than most full-length games, now that Chloe and Nadine are an established team, they’ve more than proven they can carry a game with their excellent chemistry and adventuring skills. Their dynamic was incredibly charming and entertaining, and it would be a waste never to see it again. Other members of the Uncharted cast could also make their return alongside the leading ladies, such as the heavy-hitting Charlie Cutter that has gone unseen since Uncharted 3.
Tumblr media
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy    In space, no-one can hear you rock out to 80’s metal anthems. Despite the fantastic writing and banging soundtrack, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy never quite reached the popularity of its’ big screen counterpart. The game had the failure of Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers hanging over it, in addition to not making enough money back after the high budget it took to make. That said, the relatively small number of people that actually played the game generally loved it, thanks in no small part to the quality of writing, surreal environments, excellent graphics and the total lack of unnecessary online features. While it didn’t have any direct hints to a sequel, the wide cosmic Marvel universe has endless possibilities for future storylines and the new team members introduced in the first game could lead to plenty of new combat moves and puzzle mechanics.
Of course, this is all the opinion of someone that just wants more of the games he loves. If you’ve got any ideas for other games that should’ve gotten sequels, let me know! Feedback is welcome, and reblogs and likes are much appreciated!    Thanks for reading!

rating roasting all the ubisoft store assasin's creed odyssey armor sets
note: i am commentating based entirely on personal preference (i prefer a scruffy, salt-of-the-earth, scrappy mercenary look) and own very few of these pieces so i can't speak to their stats. so my ratings are based off of looks alone.
tl;dr most of them are flops and all of them are wastes of money. fuck microtransactions. but some of them are at least kind of pretty, or worth grinding orichalcum to unlock the transmog option.
Tumblr media
myrmidon set: 4/10. dislike the massive shoulder pieces and the gold lining. the bracers are alright though and the belt is decent (although it does look a little plain/similar to in-game lootable belts).
ikaros set: 3/10. the helmet is tacky and so are the red lightning bolts. the chest piece looks alright but doesn't seem like it would mix&match well with anything else in the game. the fabric pattern is cool but again hard to coordinate a good look with imo.
lawgiver armor: 7/10. i like blue armors and the wold pelt is a badass detail. i'm personally not a fan of the single-sheet-of-metal look of the chestplate or the massive assassins logo slapped onto the bracers. but otherwise it's a good-looking set.
helios set: 3/10. chestplate and bracers are too busy. the circlet would look cool except i hate the hair/eyes changing color and the halo effect, it takes me completely out of the game. i would rank the set as a whole much lower if not for the waistband, which looks very pretty.
sacred oracle armor: 6/10. cool hood, cool tattoos. i like the sweatpants. i don't like that there is zero boob support for kassandra. also docking some points because i personally prefer to play with a hidden helmet, which kind of defeats the purpose of this set imo; the hood ties everything together.
mighty herakles set: 5/10. hate the helmet and bracers, love the chestpiece, the belt is alright. the tattoos you get with the chestpiece also look ok.
Tumblr media
sphinx mane: 6/10. overall it's a very cool-looking set, but i don't like the facepaint, and there's so many feathers covering the whole thing that it again looks difficult to mix and match so you're kind of stuck with the whole set.
abstergo suit: 2/10. if i wanted to look like like i would not be playing assassin's creed. but the eagle bearer's ass does look great in those pants, so i'm awarding one point per asscheek.
shark armor: 5/10. as much as i love sharks and everything to do with sharks, i have to admit that this is a very mid-looking set. my main issue is that there's just too much going on. a lot of the pieces look cool individually, i.e. the shark jaw collar protector, the netting, the seaweed/algae. but overall it just kind of looks messy. cool intention/vision, lackluster execution.
wild boar armor: 1/10. looks like something that an intern would have designed for an ac valhalla enemy.
athena's blessing: 4/10. LOOK I GET THAT THIS IS A POPULAR SET, I JUST PERSONALLY FUCKING HATE IT. i'll give it points for a very well-executed aesthetic, it's very pretty, the pleated texture of the fabric is nice without doing too much, and it's just overall very regal and goddess-like. but it just doesn't look like something the eagle bearer would wear, and again i know that kass doesn't have huge tits to begin with but the complete lack of boob support annoys me to no end. i would rank this lower if it wasn't so well-executed. it just feels so out of place.
celestial suit: 0/10. i fucking hate everything about this set.
Tumblr media
armor of dionysos: 7/10. at the risk of sounding like a huge hypocrite based on my rating of athena's blessing... i love this set. i love the gold filigree, i love the leopard pelt, i love the purple!!! unfortunately it once again feels out of place, and the fact that this is i believe the only purple armor set in the game makes it impossible to coordinate with other pieces. but damn it looks so good.
odysseus armor: 9/10. i'm docking a single point because the shawl covers odysseus' head on the chestpiece and i think that is a laughably egregious oversight on the part of the design team and it bothers me a lot. but other than that... beautiful, stunning, gorgeous, breathtaking, brilliant. i love all the chestpieces in the game that have a little shawl draped around them, and i love that this one differentiates itself with the blue and white stripes. it pairs nicely with the white trim on the waistband piece, but would also look nice with some of the lootable in-game belts. (as i write this i am actively contemplating spending real-world money on this armor set; the only thing stopping me is that i am currently in the middle of doing a playthrough in full mercenary gear in order to record consistent cutscenes.)
hades' champion: 1/10. the only reason i'm not giving this a 0 is because i don't hate it as much as i hate the celestial suit.
nemean lion pelt: 6/10. too much white, but otherwise a good-looking set. again, i like that the individual pieces look like they would mix and match well with the gear pieces you can loot in-game. maybe a little too chainmail-y on the chest piece though.
pegasos armor: 2/10. too much white again, too medieval fantasy paladin-y for a game that takes place in a non-medieval setting where paladins don't exist. also the horse and wings look pasted-on. overall just kind of lazy.
spartan renegade armor: 8/10. hate the chains and the massive cheesy-looking lambda belt buckle. love everything else. excellent ancient greece sports bra aesthetic. luckily the sports bra matches nicely with other gear pieces from the game so i can enjoy it without the stupid chains. the chest piece is one of the few armor sets i own because i obsessively checked oikos of the olympians for it every weekly inventory refresh for a longer stretch of time than i care to admit.
Tumblr media
armor of kronos: 5/10. idk what it is about this set but i just don't like it very much. i think maybe the palette is just a bit boring; i get that it's leather armor but there's so little going on visually that i just don't see why anyone would opt for this armor. it's very forgettable.
aegean pirate: 7/10. this is what i wish the shark armor looked like (except with the shark jaw collarpiece added). unfortunately the helmet is ugly as sin. i get what they're going for with the kraken aesthetic but it just looks silly. also the bracers are ugly. and considering it's only a blue-tier armor the stats are probably bad and definitely not worth spending money on.
herald of dusk: 3/10. if the kronos set has too little going on visually, this one is just the opposite: there's way too much going on here. there's some nice detail in the armor, but i just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with it overall. the top half of the hood (with the stripes) looks nice, but the bottom half is giving chainmail. overall it's just very.... weird. and again, as a blue-tier armor set it's a waste of money.

just getting so many mixed news about video games this month and im just. ughhhh alan wake 2 better be so fucking good (i mean i know it will but now im just. you know)
if mirage is flopping like this (which. shouldnt be a surprise tbh its still ubisoft and ac we are talking about lmao) and then konami put out the news about the mgs legacy collection release and its terrible output ratios across all boards and not even new remakes for the original solid or anything...
one out of three i was looking forward to this month is good enough, right...?

This notion that Ubisoft is going to make everything "LikE iN ThE goOd oLD DaYs" just because the boomer fans (who don't even represent the majority of the fandom) constantly cry about Odyssey and Valhalla, despite both being very successful, is honestly so bizarre to me. Remember, Mirage was just going to be another Valhalla DLC until they decided to make it a standalone game. This does not mean that they're going back to that formula, a formula that was done to death and almost killed the franchise with Unity and Rogue mind you, they're just trying to appease those throwing a fit and then the next ones will probably be closer to Origins with maybe more traditional stealth elements reintroduced or maybe they'll switch back and forth from RPG to Classic on a game-to-game basis to keep everyone happy.
Maybe Mirage will be such a roaring success that they will go full on Classic AC again until people start complaining again after 2-3 games. Who knows?
But y' all need to stop with this "OdYssEy AnD VaLhAllA ARe FlopS, OnlY AC1 Is gOoD" narrative because it's, factually, incorrect

Nah this is all pretty inaccurate. First off, consoles today are on par with their prices for the previous generations (show me where you can buy a decent used car for the price of a Switch), and gaming PC’s have always been around 1000$.
The current crop of AAA titles has been a bit underwhealming, particularly from Ubisoft and Blizzard, and it’s hard to ignore live service games steadily making a dent in the online space.
That said, aside from the AAA space, things have never been better. We’re seeing a massive influx of Indie and AA games like nothing we’ve seen before. Tiny indie projects like Undertale and Delta Rune are redefining what RPG’s can be. There’s a massive resurgence of boomer shooters and CRPG’s too. We literally haven’t seen a heartbeat from these genres in 20 years.
Blizzard’s latest “masterpiece” Diablo 4 was an unmitigated flop that cracked under the pressure of live service. It was effectively killed in the crib by Baldur’s Gate 3 - easily the frontrunner for game of the year, and one that won’t offer any DLC or micro-transactions.
If anything we’re in store for a revolution in the medium like we saw in the 60’s and 70’s with independent directors creating Easy Rider and Fear and Loathing. The AAA space is in bad shape to be sure, but I suspect we’ll be seeing huge changes in a couple of years.
genuinely, i think we're heading for another video game crash. Triple A games are continually abusing workers while putting out lower and lower quality games at higher and higher price points. Consoles and gaming pcs are approaching the same price as a used car, for games that take up 90% of the memory because they're so poorly optimized.
the constant grind for new games or new content for previous games is quickly becoming annoying and underwhelming, we already have constant complaints about the new day one patch system every game release seems to come with. more and more games are just endless remasters and franchise sequels instead of anything new.
and now unity wants to charge developers for every install

Ah the rumors are true (and these gaming companies coordinate)
https://x.com/xbox/status/1785308276063633588?s=46
I already figured out given last year Xbox revealed Star Wars outlaws and next day we had a gameplay reveal at the Ubi forward
Remember that leak AC red menu I sent? Well that was taken down to copyright, but I think that was a Xbox not a Ubi move.
Because the leak show the build being April third and most press conference game builds are usually a few months old as they are the most stable
So I heard original red would have it reveal in May 31st…hmmm if that still true
May 31st- a press event where we get a pre render cgi trailer, proper Yasuke and Naoe reveal, details, in game screenshots. And title reveal
June 9th- Xbox will have a gameplay demo showing off the capabilities of Xbox (and if Xbox bribed them enough. Ac red will be the first day one ac game on gamepass as the last three ac rpgs on it)
June 10th- a story trailer and “bts” video where they show how yes finally we are going to Japan and their ideas and inspirations for it
With probably the nice explanation why Yasuke was chose for the second playable character
Because people want red to be reveal at Ubisoft forward…but people need to digested Yasuke at first
Like my theory craft on how to use Yasuke in a what if continuation is interesting…but modern writers are not exactly smart.
Also there a fundamental difference between my black teen dad Jrpg idea vs writers who have critical theory plaguing their minds
Not to mention they think having more non whites will bring black people into fantasy games.
When the last time they went to the cookout? The vast majority of casual players only enjoy playing Cod, GTA, tekken and other fighting games, and the occasional license hero game
Okay okay fornite
Like here my pitch
Hey casual black gamers (who barely desire to play Normie games. WHAT I still deal with it) you remember Afro samurai? Well here a game where you play as the weapon bearer Yasuke in this game Assassin Creed Shadows (that is what some people saying the game is going called) where you help a secret ancient order unify Japan. And there more it’s a RPG where you can spend over 100 hours into and explore the beautiful recreation of feudal Japan!
Warning your dumbass might become a pseudo historian and desire more knowledge
(Or you might be interested in more ac games. Hmm here an Egypt one! Now might give you more! HEHEHEHE)
And noting bad wait- okay probably will be 70 dollars…..oh great a season and battle pass!….wdym online only?!
Ubi you now got 5-6 months to reform red market system (most ac game comes out on October or November) because you seen how your own game skulls and bones and SS kills JL flopped
Ugh why I had to be born during the hard times of gaming?
Maybe in May I get more leaks
Also college educated students, people do like organic diversity.
But white people don’t like the demonization of themselves from people who make more money they do in their lifetimes
Seriously what the fuck is the culture in California and New York where it socially acceptable to treat white people like fictional characters
Tumblr media

This all was the official timeline then, nice of them to post it, probably gonna be a few more leaks tho

They need to stop with all the tokesism crap, even a MC can be a token if it's all just stereotypical nonsense. Then again certain parts of the audience that's all they want.
Gay guys need to be flaming, lesbians are lipstick or mega dyke, Latinos are gardners, and black people are thugs or you're doing it wrong.
If Yasuke breaks into a Undercover Brother type monolouge at some point I would laugh and cry.
When the last time they went to the cookout? The vast majority of casual players only enjoy playing Cod, GTA, tekken and other fighting games, and the occasional license hero game.
Oh I miss the cookouts, had a few friends that would invite me to different ones, damn fine food. Sometimes I acted extra white just to be funny too.
Prev and Warning your dumbass might become a pseudo historian and desire more knowledge (Or you might be interested in more ac games. Hmm here an Egypt one! Now might give you more! HEHEHEHE)
I like it, I also like tricking people into learning, makes things fun and interesting.
And noting bad wait- okay probably will be 70 dollars…..oh great a season and battle pass!….wdym online only?!
Grrrrrr

There really was a golden age for it, late late 90's till the 10's when things all started to go online, get really good complete games and y you could hit up gameFAQ's if you needed help with something (used to have to know someone who knew or call the Nintendo Power hotline at $1.99 a min if you were stuck.
Think most college educated people like that too, it's just the loud ones that are the issue.
Seriously what the fuck is the culture in California and New York where it socially acceptable to treat white people like fictional characters
Speaking as a Californian let me say, fuck those guys doing that.

this is more like it

The Downfall of Western Gaming
The Downfall of Western Gaming Let me start with a caveat that I realize hot takes are going to receive a lot of criticism which is expected. I ask that you all look at it from different perspectives rather than shouting out your love for your favorite genre or the current state of video games. Ultimately, I know this opinion won't change anything however I think conversation is the start of productivity. In the last few years, I have noticed a trend that is bothering me quite honestly. This trend is the complete domination within the gaming industry of anime and soul-like games. As a fan of neither, it seems like year after year there continues to be fewer games to look forward to or games released that fall short of expectations outside of the two genres. To reinforce my point lets take a look at the Game Awards Nominations which feels like a good baseline to use since it typically highlights the most popular games. Balatro (a card game), Elden Ring SOTE (DLC/Souls Like), Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (anime-like), Black Myth Wukong (souls like), Astro Bot (family game), Metaphor Refantasio (anime-like). There is a complete disconnect if you happen to like other styles of gaming. This has been a trend since 2020 when the "black sheep" was The Last of Us II.My point is all of the companies outside of Balatro again a card game.... hail from Japan. Do games created and published in Japan mean they are automatically bad? No not at all. My argument is simply that Japan has a particular art style in their games that they have found to consistently work for a lot of the gaming industry. Great for them! That said my main problem is not with Japan it is with the lack of consistency and development from western gaming industry. Currently, the biggest gaming companies in the US remain to be Activision (no new IP's), EA (sports titles or flops), Take 2 (solid but rare releases), Ubisoft (dang near bankruptcy), Bethesda (recent underperformance), and Rockstar (great releases but few). There may be an issue when it comes to my preferences as I tend to like RPG's, action games, military sims, or scifi games based out of The United States or Europe. Games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Fallout 4, Escape from Tarkov, Arma 3, Ready or Not, etc. There are games I enjoy it just stinks that while these could have more attention and be released more than once every 10 years we instead push them out and are so dominated by the Asian gaming industry.TLDR?: Gaming companies based out of the United States and Europe are failing to bring consistent and efficient video games while companies primarily based out of Japan continue to dominate the industry. With Japan's particular art style and focused genres it creates frustration for gamers wanting a different kind of experience or that have other preferences.
