What’s New in Apple’s Affordable iPhone SE 4
It's been a while since Apple updated its budget iPhone SE, and the last model closely resembled its predecessor and the iPhone 8, which debuted back in 2017. This time, the iPhone SE 4, expected to launch in early 2025, is anticipated to feature a significant design overhaul, looking similar to the iPhone 14 series, if not identical.

Beyond aesthetics, the iPhone SE 4 is rumored to receive substantial hardware upgrades, including a new chip, enhanced cameras, a USB-C port, a larger display, and more. Despite these enhancements, it is expected to be only slightly more expensive than its predecessor, while still remaining much more affordable than the mainstream iPhone models.
When will it launch, and how much will it cost?
According to a report from The Information, the iPhone SE 4 will launch in the Spring of 2025, and a ‘leakster’ on X (Revegnus) predicts that the iPhone SE 4 might get a price hike of around 10 per cent, indicating it would still cost less than Rs 50,000 at launch, which is similar to that of a previous-generation iPhone.

iPhone SE 4 is rumored to look radically different from its predecessor, yet familiar to iPhone enthusiasts. According to leaks, the iPhone SE 4 could closely resemble the iPhone 14 but with a single rear camera. It will feature a metal unibody design with flat side frames, and a large 6.1-inch screen, significantly larger than the 4.7-inch screen on the iPhone SE 3. This also means the iPhone SE 4 will be the first in the SE series without a home button, likely incorporating a Face ID biometric system.
In addition to the design overhaul, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to include a USB-C port for charging and may gain an action button. The device is anticipated to have an IP67/68 rating for water and dust resistance, and it might feature a repair-friendly build, allowing for easy replacement of the back panel or display.

iPhone 15 First Look: Why Apple’s New USB-C Port Is a Huge Deal | WSJ
The introduction of a USB-C connector is one of the iPhone 15’s distinguishing characteristics, and has generated a lot of excitement since its recent debut. Tech fans are in awe of Apple’s innovative move, and for good reason. Apple has long been recognized for its own Lightning connector, which has long been the main method of charging and data transfer on iPhones. But the iPhone 15 marks a…

Thinking about the wholesome intimacy of fixing computers!! Again!!
Story under the cut
I have this Dell Inspiron desktop at home that was given to me after my grandfather passed away. Being the only other "techie" in the family meant my grandmother offered his old computer towers to me to be used or recycled.
Unfortunately, this Inspiron was the only thing that could be of use out of the four towers I received. It felt wrong disposing of the others, but I can at least live knowing they were recycled responsibly.
But the Inspiron was beautiful by my standards. I have never owned a good desktop before, and she was what I needed. And I thank my grandfather for his expertise every time I turn it on.
She has an AMD Ryzen 7 1700x, 16 GB of RAM, and a GTX 1060. Not miraculous by techbro standards, but miraculous to me. When I received her, she was broken—she wouldn't turn on. A couple hours of troubleshooting later showed me that she had a bad power supply. I ordered a new one and replaced it. I feel like I was thanked the first time I booted her. She was brought back to life.
So I wiped the drives and did (several) clean OS installs until I found a way to install Windows 11. And now the Inspiron that I brought gently back to health is my daily use PC. There's something wonderful about bringing new life to something someone once loved, or at least used. I'm sure she enjoys what she does for me despite her hiccups every now and then.
I love this computer in a strange way. And I feel like my grandfather is happy that I could make use of it. I do my best to take care of it, and it was my little passion project (ongoing hehe).

The marvel of technology is that a large wall clock in my living room quits working, and I order a new movement for ten bucks, but when the quartz movement goes out in my watch, I’m quoted more than $200 to replace it when the watch wasn’t worth that to begin with.
When the backlight goes out on my laptop screen, I’m quoted anywhere from $300 to $700 to fix it (and highly discouraged to do so because despite working perfectly it’s almost ten years old), then told its a motherboard issue, thereby forcing me to buy a new laptop anyway for hundreds more. But a lightbulb in my room costs like three bucks to replace.

Y'all
the Switch 2 is gonna be fire.
Like I didn't think of this initially but it the concept of the controllers essentially being able to be used as mice is opening up SOOOO many possibilities. Think about it.
I'm seeing it mostly mentioned with DS/3DS emulation. Like name a better way to get touch controls on a console (handheld mode you could obviously just touch the screen, but I like docked.) But think about it. Minecraft on Switch 2 could be the best console Minecraft to date.
Imagine Pikmin 4 and being able to AIM with that. (I never liked the gyro which is why I never bought the game BUT IF THEY DO THIS. best control scheme since Pikmin 3 on the Wii U. That was 2013.)
Splatoon skill ceiling about to skyrocket even higher, I'm honestly scared.
Just think of all the indie games that are built more with a mouse in mind, easily making the Switch 2 the definitive console version for once in Nintendo's life.
The best part? The sensor is on BOTH joycons. Left handed? Right handed? No problem.
The possibilities with this gimmick are something I think will genuinely be revolutionary and massively improve console experiences.
I will fight scalpers tooth and nail to get my hands on one of these things, but I'm also hoping for a Xenoblade X special edition console. A dock with the glorious X logo in bright cyan, the black controllers with blue accents, a Mira carrying case... Nintendo please. This and fix the goddamn drift

-_- the only reliable statistics I've found are for enterprise level data storage drives, not consumer portables. there are no real statistics for the failure rates of wd my passport/elements vs seagate expansion/one touch, mostly anecdotal evidence. the seagates usually are just standard sata drives connected to an usb interface which is desirable if you want to attempt diy data recovery. the wd's generally have the usb port soldered directly to the drive. really, it's a tossup. get whatever's cheaper, and get multiple drives. failure is inevitable
