Shovel and co. found a new friend!! Us and Boo found the friend, Scratch and the Owlbear Cub did most of the digging, and Shovel pulled 'em out! Tara and Grub decided to hang back, though. Didn't want to get their paws dirty. You know how it is.

Us has become very attached to the githyanki egg. It cuddles up beside it, and talks to it, and sometimes even tries to wrap its arms around it the way it's seen you and Lae'zel and the others do.

Lae'zel is not a fan of this. She is not a fan of Us in general. She does not know why you keep a ghaik's pet. Perhaps it is not loyal to its captors, but it is still disgusting. Something like it should not be trusted with a child of Gith. The unhatched whelp has already been through enough.

Partly in an effort to assuage her frustration, you ask the creature why it is so fond of the egg.

"It is our friend - friend! It is just like Us."

Lae'zel's lip curls. You speak before she can.

"How do you mean?"

"The child is trapped - trapped! Inside of its shell. Its siblings have freed themselves! But it is stuck.

"Were it not for you - friend! The child might have died. Might have died. Its family would have thought it unworthy to live, to live. Just because it was stuck."

Us understands well - this is almost exactly what Lae'zel told you.

"It is just like Us," it repeats. "We might have died, too. Had it not been for our friend's kindness."
