It's the most expensive set in the world [ David & RTD laugh ] Russell: How much use are we getting out of it? Phil: ...and operate. The bills we get for footage and screen hire. Oh my word. David: Oh, right. Russell: I'm sorry, faithful viewer Phil: But it's amazing. I'm joking. I love it Russell: We are getting our use out of it. "Should we go to UNIT HQ?" they say. At the drop of a hat. David: Shall we do 30 pages in UNIT HQ? Phil: Literally. It is literally. 30 pages a series, please. Pay for itself.

This side event addresses the severe and escalating women's rights crisis in Afghanistan, marked by the Taliban's systematic oppression of women through restrictive decrees. It aims to provide a platform for Afghan women's rights activists, international advocates, and UN representatives to discuss how the international community can support and restore women's fundamental rights in Afghanistan. Key topics include establishing human rights-based engagement parameters with the Taliban, exploring the draft Treaty on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes Against Humanity, and devising a coherent international policy approach that prioritizes the rights and protection of Afghan women and girls. The event will highlight the urgent need for global action to address this crisis and advance gender equality and women's empowerment globally.

"I do not underestimate the importance of the things one can do, though. One of the principal reasons I cherish this floor clerk job [as an inmate at the federal New York Detention Headquarters] is the chance to ease the really rough jolt that hits the boys the FBI brings in every night about 10 or 10:30. We clerks stay up until they come in, and after they go through the usual entry routine I show them where to get their mattresses and other bedding—which I would guess has not been cleaned in years—and the cells to which they are assigned.

Every night I rebel at the involuntary part I thus play in a jim crow institution, since the Negroes must go into one of two specified dormitories no matter how crowded it may be, or how empty one of the others. I get mad every time I see one of these kids drop his mattress wearily on the floor because there are no bunks left, but I stay on the job because I can soften the blow a little by being friendly, giving them cigarettes and generally encouraging them to keep their chins up. Many of them seem to be no more than fifteen or sixteen years old, but they get picked up anyway if they have no draft cards. The FBI tours the bars and pool halls of Harlem, I understand, and evidently operates on the theory that it is better to have a teen-age boy spend a night in jail than to take a chance of missing a possible draft-dodger!

Some of the kids are positively terrified, and they sob and cry all night. I can do little enough for them, but after they have been pushed and ordered around for hours, a little gentleness even from another convict seems to help."

The role of electoral justice in the self-determination of indigenous peoples and empowerment of their youth: A comparative approach (UNPFII Side Event).

Since 2011, the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary of Mexico (TEPJF) organizes side events within the framework of UNPFII to highlight the importance of effective access to electoral-political rights for Mexican indigenous peoples and communities.

This side event seeks to showcase paradigmatic rulings from different countries, as well as actions taken by various electoral tribunals to ensure the rights of indigenous populations in each nation from an intercultural perspective, based on international standards.

Furthermore, this event provides an opportunity to learn firsthand about the experiences and challenges faced by indigenous youths in accessing electoral justice and practice active political engagement. It will also explore how their rights are exercised in different jurisdictions, as well as the strategies and policies that other authorities and countries have implemented to ensure the protection of these rights.
