ultralive/modern au gabv1el is so fun. the i hate being your tutor to wait i feel kinda bad :( and you're actually really cool to abandoning christianity for a blue haired pronoun using shut in gamer pipeline. to gabe v is a wake up call that reality is not as black and white as his upbringing would have him believe and he becomes so fascinated and then obsessed with them...hatred lost lmfao

meanwhile on vs end is just. v lives a life of constant paranoia because of how horrifically they've been abused, they expect everyone to attack them and they think gabe is a stuck up asshole (and he is. at first). but then he comes around and...gabe is kind? gentle, even. he brings them food. he checks on them. he doesn't judge them for being "weird" (autism, selective mutism, psychotic depression, intersex + nonbinary, they do not live in the most open minded place so v deals with some p disgusting bigotry for the crime of existing) and actually tries to understand them. plus he's handsome and has a calming voice. even if they're terrified there's something so charming about him they wanna let their guard down down, constantly living under a mask of anger so no one hurts them is so exhausting.

Twice. Beaten by an angel, twice.

The arena of his prison was bloodied and broken, and Sisyphus laid in the epicenter of the destruction, exhausted. But oh, his anger was blinding.

Standing proudly above- upon him, was Archangel Gabriel. Blades drawn, wings gleaming brilliantly, staring down at his defeated form with arrogant poise.

Just as it was before.

He laughed, defeated. "Well, go on, oh righteous angel. End this."

A moment of silence. Sisyphus watched the blades raise for a moment. He braced for a swift death.

The sound of the weapons being sheathed made him freeze.

"...what?"

A sigh. "I was not here to kill you."

The rage Sisyphus felt only came out as roaring laughter. "Surely, this is a trick. I know you angel, and I know of your council, this is merely a ruse-"

"They're dead, Sisyphus."

"... lies." Sisyphus frowned.

"I killed them, Sisyphus."

The king's eyes go wide. That only served to make him more furious, but now there was something else stirring under the surface. Gabriel rebelled. He had taken on the iron fisted force that kept the many denizens of Hell suffering for years... and won.

What was this feeling?

"What made you do it?"

Gabriel looked away. "They had long strayed away from God's plan. They simply puppeted his corpse as a bargaining chip."

"And how did it feel?" Sisyphus hoped Gabriel couldn't hear his interest. Even moreso hoped the angel couldn't see how interested he was.

Gabriel took far longer to answer than he should. The rush of his heart, the way it pounded in his head as he sliced through the flesh and marrow of the council. The relief. The joy. The pleasure—

Sisyphus smirk, watching a golden tint wash over the lower half of Gabriel's wings. "Enjoyed it, hm?"

He felt his back slam back down on the floor once more, a foot pressing into his chest harshly. "And what if I did?"

Surely now Gabriel could feel the way Sisyphus' heart hammered within his translucent body? Surely he realised just how much the king enjoyed this display of power?

"Then... I simply wish I was there to witness... hell, to even take part in it." SIsyphus dared to raise a hand. "An angel reborn is something one doesn't see quite often, especially into one who... revels in just bloodied events."

"And are you not the same, Sisyphus? You certainly are unable to hide it." Gabrie made a show of lifting his weight off of Sisyphus' chest, but planting his foot on the king's throbbing cock. Gabriel smiled underneath his helm when the king let out a rough groan.

"Gods..." SIsyphus mumbled. "More..."

Gabriel let out a laugh. "Really? Asking for pleasure from an angel?"

"Well, I'm guessing you've already partaken in the act with something, considering you didn't immediately smite my very form upon noticing my interest."

The wings glow brighter. Sisyphus grinned again. "Was it that weapon making a muck of Hell?"

Even brighter now. Gabriel lifted his foot away and stepped down between the king's legs. His gaze lingered too long on the glistening folds that greeted him. "And if it was?"

"Knowing how easily it bested you... I'm assuming this is the first time you're on top."

Gold and red fully encased the angels form for but a second, having processed the teasing first... and the invitation second. "... and what if it was, Sisyphus."

Propping himself up on his elbows, Sisyphus looked down at the angel between his legs. "Then you have nothing to worry for. I can guide you, if you so wish."

"They are never going to change."

"Tutoring services are required council work," Minos says, leafing through another pile of club budgets and complaints, "And V needs it more than anyone."

"They aren't even trying. Everything I do, everything I say, they find a problem with it. Or worse, they sit there staring at me." Gabe sinks down into his chair, pulling on his face. "Minos, they hate me."

"You're taking this a bit personally."

"They said they hated me. Looked me straight in the face, swore at me, and said they hated me."

Minos shook his head. "I know for a fact you've been told worse by the student body. All of us have."

"I can't help them if they won't even try." Gabriel fiddled with the cross around his neck. It wasn't often he surrendered easily. God give him strength, he'd known since the first day V wasn't going to cooperate. 

Assigned tutors and their students meet in the library after school. All students are notified via their school emails and verbally. It is impossible to miss. Yet Gabriel had sat there for two hours waiting the first scheduled session, sitting, working, checking the door and shared council email, checking his phone for an update from Minos, walking up and down the shelves of books to see if by some chance V had gotten lost, taking a break to pray, checking again, and finally being asked if he was alright by library staff. Not only had V stood him up, they'd made him look like a fool in the process.

The next day they had their first real conversation. Gabriel saw them slinking through the front entrance, bag slumping off their shoulder, wearing a noticeably stained hoodie that was nowhere near school regulation.

"Excuse me," he'd called to them gently. V kept walking,

"Excuse me!" Gabriel rushed up to them, placing a hand on their shoulder. V swung around, jolting out his grasp and turning to glare at him faster than he thought possible, their teeth digging into their lip. Furious and dirty and small, V looked feral to him.

"I…My name is Gabriel, we were supposed to meet yesterday. You never came."

V looked ready to spit on him.

"You need to come to your sessions."

"Or what?"

The words crackled out of their mouth in a strained grasp. Their voice was quiet and husky, barely audible in the morning hustle, and it took Gabriel a moment to discern what they'd actually said. 

"You need to come."

"No."

This astounded him.

"My apologies, I don't think you understand. These are required by school code. If you remain insubordinate the council will have to-"

"Suck my dick."

"Excuse me? Are you aware of who you're talking to? I'm trying to help you-"

"Help yourself!" V suddenly yelled, rushing forward in an instant and shoving Gabriel back with force unexpected for their size. He stumbled, catching himself, and for a second was too stupefied to say anything.

And then he was furious.

"What in God's name is wrong with you? Do you have any idea what you've just done?"

If V understood him, they showed no sign of it. They stood in place, one foot in front of the other, arms raised as if to shove him again. 

Clearly hysterical, Gabe thought, Out of their mind. It wasn't uncommon for the population of this school to behave like wild animals, especially towards the more educated among them. Disgusting, yes, but ultimately sad. They were too obstinate to realize it was their own actions keeping them from a better life. They took it out on whoever was standing nearby, or whoever they saw take real action to better his own life. It was ignorance, plain and simple.

In times like these, when Gabriel found it infeasible to be the patient, caring council member he swore to be, he remembered something he'd learned as a young boy of the church, something that had gotten him through many a temptation or trying time.

Luke 6:27. But to those of you who are listening to me, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

"I'll give you a final chance. Come tonight, after school, to the library, or I'll take this directly to administration with a report of violence. You are one reprimanding away from expulsion, yes?"

Silence. V's eyes flicked away from him, now focusing somewhere to the side. It seemed the two had come to a stand still. Gabriel fought his grin. After a moment V pulled away from him, turning and stomping through the doors, quickly vanishing in a flood of bodies.

Only then did Gabriel allow himself to smile. He had won, reason and diplomacy outclassed blind aggression.

He thought.

When Gabriel came to the library, V was already there, slouching with their phone in hand, headphones leaking out sound, their feet kicked up on the table.

"I'm glad you came," He'd said, pushing their legs off, "I didn't want to get you in trouble."

It shouldn't have been surprising when V said nothing in reply.

"What do you want to start with?"

"...You know, if you took off your headphones you could hear me a lot better."

V rolled their eyes, turning back to their phone.

"Why did you come if you're not going to try?"

Suddenly fuming, V tore off their headphones. "Made me."

Gabe blinked. "I'm sorry?"

V leaned forward in their chair, jabbing a finger at him. "Made. Me."

"I'm trying to help you, you know."

"Don't want it."

"Okay, fine, you don't want my help. Given your childishness, I'm beginning to not want to give it. But that's not our decision to make. The rules say we have to be here and we have to do this. So, let's make this easy, yes? Tell me what you're confused about, what you need clarification on, and you can go do…whatever it is someone like you does."

V looked at the floor, apparently a habit of theirs while thinking. Gabriel studied them, for the first time, truly studied them and tried to solve their little puzzle. The navy braids that covered half their face was only a futile coverup. Over their left eye was an eyepatch, black and paper, that had clearly been cleaner once upon a time, but now was patched with stains and discoloration. Their hair was in disarray, loose pieces and irritated frizzle, clearly their hair had outgrown them and gone beyond their control. Each rare inch of exposed skin, mostly just their face and a bit of their wrists, was covered in scars. Some looked deep, still a bit red, embedded past layer and layer of skin. Some were small and hovered on the surface. Old and new. How could someone do such a thing to their own body was beyond Gabriel. Harming the form God provided you with was sacrilege. The one eye that he could see was a lustrous amber, a marriage of yellow and brown, a tired eye, yes, even delicate.

Gabriel felt a twinge inside of him. And then V looked back at him, and told him to go fuck himself, and the moment was gone.
